You shouldn't be silent about it as the immigration officer will have the impression that you borrowed the money from her in order to facilitate your study visa application. Your sister should tender a letter of support stating that she transferred the said amount into your account in support of your studies in Canada. Also include the transaction records as reference.


The family information form IMM5645E should have the details of your siblings resident abroad namely: their addresses, current employment status, full names etc.

*URGENT* I need to turn in my application today.
My dad transferred to me 50% of required funds. My sister in the US has been sending funds monthly to my dorm account which accounts for 25% of required funds. I would be getting letter of support from my dad and I will also state it in my SOP that I got gift deed from him. Do I need to do same for my sister? Or should I say I'm rendering a service to my sister and she is paying me. Or should I just be silent about it?

Do I also need to write anywhere that I have a sibling in Canada, US or the declaration on the family information on the IMM form is sufficient?

You should declare truthfully in your application that you've siblings in Canada. Please be advised that having siblings who are resident in Canada does not in any way affect your chances of getting approval. The greatest advantage you should place reliance on is to demonstrate to the immigration officer that you're a bonafide student by including supporting documents in proof of your family ties to Nigeria. The future career prospects of your intended program, your aged parents, a family business, parents assets, your active membership in an organisation and amongst other relevant points can be your unwavering commitments in your home country. These points should be well expressed in a detailed and persuasive way as possible.

What did other countries do during their lockdown?
Expand testing massively, contact tracing, strengthen their health systems, and isolate infected ones.

In Nigeria, we did lockdown for 5 weeks and so far only managed a paltry 10,000+ tests in a population of 200m. That was a very unproductive lockdown. You can't identify a reasonable percentage of the infected individuals that way, and cases will only continue to rise anyhow.

If the government is not going to do massive testing, identify and isolate most infected people, then a lockdown is just a waste of time because asymptomatic people will keep spreading the disease unknowingly, and the poor masses will suffer greatly from it especially since there wasn't even any reasonable palliatives distributed to people to ease the effects of the lockdown.

The question I am asking is: does resignation absolve one of criminal charges? when you make such statement, does it not say much about the aim of such charges, talking of the ill fated intent of the executive? I hold my peace for now!
