In major Universities worldwide, fraternities are legitimate and many world leaders such as the former POTUS George W. Bush where members of fraternities while on campus.

In UI back in the day, the school authority knew about the existence of Wole Soyinka and his other
friends open membership of the harmless Pirates Fraternity because membership was legal on campus just like on other major campuses worldwide.

That's the major reason why he came out of school with a 3rd class degree.
