…Says More to Come In Due Course Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday approved a total sum of N740,461,432.00 as compensation for host communities of Parcel B comprising Yegunda, Abomiti and International Airport site of the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ). The State’s Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, who announced the approval of the Governor at a media briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, said the development was in line the commitment of the Ambode administration to engender a sustainable cordial relationship between the host communities and investors in the LFTZ. Ogunleye, who addressed the briefing alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce, Hon. Benjamin Olabinjo; Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Hon. Muslim Folami; the Managing Director of Lekki Worldwide Investments Limited, Dr. Tunde Sodade, among others, said ever since coming on board, Governor Ambode has seriously and holistically addressed the salient need to compensate the host communities, adding that remarkable progress had been recorded in that regard. While stating that the State Government has continued to engage the host communities ever since the LFTZ project started in 2004, Ogunleye said the engagement principally centered on the need for the communities to recognize the multiplier effects of the project in terms of employment generation and the value to be added to the socio-economic lives of the people. He said already, modalities were being put in place to ensure hitch-free payment of the approved N740 million, adding that the payment would be effected with immediate effect. Responding to questions, Ogunleye said the compensation exercise was a continuous process, revealing that N65 million was paid early this year for land owners affected by the ongoing Dangote projects which included petrochemical plant, gas project, fertilizer and refinery project capable of refining 650, 000 barrels of oil per day. He said before now, the host communities of the 3,000 hectares of land housing the LFTZ Development Agency, a company jointly owned by the State Government and a consortium of Chinese investors, were heavily compensated, adding that more land owners would be compensated in due course at the end of verification and valuation exercise. "Let me reiterate once again, the commitment of this administration to Community Social Responsibility (CSR) and its readiness to continue to heed the yearnings of our people in the areas covered by the LFTZ and its complementary projects. I also need to assure both local and foreign investors that all our projects in the corridor are fully on course and as an administration, we are fully committed to them. "At this time of economic downturn, our State as the nation and Sub Saharan economic hub is providing this investment platform with huge potentials as the best destination for direct investment. We are providing appropriate road infrastructure to ease the operations of investors in the zone and we will continue to sustain the friendly operating environment that now subsists," Ogunleye said. September 10, 2016 Press Statement Re: PDP registered 8000 militants for Edo Election by Governor Adams Oshiomhole. This is false, says PDP The allegation by the Executive Governor of Edo state that the PDP registered 8,000 militants for the forthcoming election in the state is not only wild, but stupid and totally unreasonable. It is another falsehood being peddled by a man known to be a pathological liar. A man who has no respect for the truth. In the first instance, we wish to put before Governor Oshiomhole the following pertinent questions, where and when did the PDP register the so called militants? Were they registered by INEC? If not which organization registered them? Were they registered as voters or as Observers? For what purpose? And when did Mr Oshiomhole suddenly discovered the registration of the alleged militants? These are the pertinent questions Governor Oshiomhole should answer. No perceptible person will take anything coming from Governor Oshiomhole serious given his well known reputation for fabricating lies. Nigerians will recall that it was the same Governor Adams Oshiomhole who after returning from an official visit with President Buhari to the United States of America said that one American official told them while they were in the United State that over six billion dollars was found in the account of a former Nigerian Minister. Neither the President nor any other member of the official delegation said they heard any such statement. Mr Oshiomhole kept on repeating this lie until an American embassy officials had to publicly repudiate him. Yet the shameless Governor offered no public apology for misleading Nigerians. The lies of Oshiomhole has finally caught up with him. After eight years of unbridled propaganda and deception, the day of reckoning is finally here. The people of Edo state now have the opportunity to remove the yoke of oppression and mismanagement. The APC has merely used this excuse to postpone the date of their final burial in Edo state. Since the party is already dead the date of its burial must surely come no matter how far they keep postponing. We wish to warn that Governor Oshiomhole and his cohorts must not use this lie to tamper with the Voters register, nor should it be used to embark on unwarranted arrest, harassment and intimidation of our members in Edo state. The security agencies must recognize that their responsibilities are to the entire people of Nigeria and not only to one political party, the APC. JOINT PRESS RELEASE WITH BILL & MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION The Kaduna State Government, the UK’s Department for International Development and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to work together to improve primary health care (PHC) Innovative four-year agreement focused on sustainable primary health care systems strengthening Nigeria’s Kaduna State Government, the United Kingdom’s (UK) Department for International Development (DFID), and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) have today announced a new strategic partnership on health and governance, taking an important step towards stronger primary health care services in rural communities. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will advance the implementation and transformation of the primary health care system in Kaduna State, and builds upon ongoingsupport by BMGF and DFID for polio eradication, routine immunization, family planning, and maternal and child health services. A recent state wide assessment in Kaduna has led to a new reform agenda by the state government to improve primary health care delivery. The new Partnership will support this agenda by working to address the root causes of poor performance in primary health care. This includes strengthening governance, accountability, the distribution of health care workers, financing and management processes, data systems, accessibility to essential medicines, as well as primary health care delivery. Despite significant health investments, Nigeria continues to face high infant, child and maternal mortality rates. Statistics from a 2013 Demographic and Health Survey highlight that only 32% of women in Nigeria give birth in a primary health care facility, only 44% of children in the country are fully immunized, and almost 60% are underweight. Ayo Ajayi, Africa Director of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation said: “Gaps in primary health care service delivery are a serious challenge for Nigeria, as demonstrated in the recent polio transmissions in rural areas of northern Nigeria. Addressing these issues requires tackling the underlying system that delivers PHC – including and beyond the health center level. The Kaduna State Government is prepared to do so and is paving the way for other States. Our Foundation applauds this effort which will enable the poor and vulnerable to access needed health services. We look forward to working in partnership with Kaduna State and the UK’s Department for International Development.” Minister Wharton, UK International Development Minister said: The United Kingdom is committed to helping Nigeria to address the causes of and eliminate poverty, ensuring no Nigerian is left behind. As part of wider multi-sector support at Federal and State level, the UK Department for International Development has invested extensively in health care in Nigeria and Kaduna State, with a particular focus on primary health care, reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health, immunization, HIV/AIDS, malaria and nutrition. This Memorandum of Understanding further strengthens the UK’s partnership with the Kaduna State Government and with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation under a shared vision to improve health. His Excellency, Governor El-Rufai, Kaduna State Government said: “I am grateful to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and UK Department for International Development (DFID) for their support, and look forward to a productive partnership as we work together in implementing this MOU to strengthen and transform the primary health care system in the state. Health is one of the priority sectors for this government, and primary health care is critical to achieving our goal to deliver for Kaduna State citizens better health and ensure longer life expectancy.” “Our programs are structured to ensure that a pregnant woman does not die due to her inability to access quality services during pregnancy and childbirth, that a child is not lost from preventable diseases, that communities are not overburdened with endemic diseases, and that community linkages are harnessed and promoted”. cc; Lalasticlala,mynd44 Source: http://www.trezzyhelm.com/2016/09/joint-kaduna-state-govt-press-release.html

Mr. Aondosoo Tondo, a two-time Student Union President at the Benue State University, a talented lecturer with the University of Mkar and a Chairmanship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was killed by unknown gunmen, on the 11th of August, at his residence in Gboko was on Thursday, Sept 1, in a heartwrenching and moving ceremony laid to rest in his village of Mbaaniyol-Mbaakura in Buruku Local Government, Benue State. According to his friend, Shie Odimámá Aondoakaa, it was a gut-wrenching sight as men wept profusely, women cried out their hearts and the young had tears cascading down their cheeks. For words are not sufficient to define the pain and sorrow that permeated the air in that village especially watching his innocent kids cling to their young mother at his graveside in horror at the enormity of it all. Rev. Fr. Agbecha who presided over the funeral didn't preach the Bible, no! Rather he spoke extensively from his heart to the Mbagen community, Buruku LG and the Tiv race. And his message was deep. He charged the Mbagen Traditional heads to search/trace where this death came from to discern who the evil men or women are in the Tiv community. Meanwhile, there are accusations and counter-accusations about a Commissioner in the Dr Samuel Ortom led administration as being culpable for the death of this vibrant young man. May his soul rests in peace. Source: http://www.trezzyhelm.com/2016/09/tears-in-mbaaniyol-mbaakuraburuku.html
