Hello everyone!

Does anyone have an idea if the US consulate in Lagos is still receiving visa applications and scheduling interviews for non-immigrant visa at this time?

CareerMasters In US Ivy League School Or Full Time Bank Job In Nigeria. by BrTune(op): 5:49pm On Mar 07, 2020
Hello guys,

Please I need some advise. I just got an offer to run my Masters in one of the Top 3 Ivy League schools in the United States. The admission offer comes with a scholarship and a loan offer to cover the difference, including living costs, books and Accomodation.

On the other hand, I got a decent full time offer in a Tier one commercial bank in Nigeria.
If I accept the offer, I will have to pay about 2 million naira if I leave them before two years.
This comes with a compulsory Car...payable over the next 5years at 0% interest rate.

I’m in a fix because of the anti-immigration sentiments prevalent in the States at this time, I’m therefore unsure about my chances of securing a job thereafter if I decide to go for my masters.
I am afraid of concluding my masters, bagging student loans and then being unable to get a job, and so having to come back to Nigeria and begin from scratch.

Please any good advise is welcome, especially from folk with viable experience.
MODs please help move this to FP to help me make a decision. Thank you!
CareerRe: Please I Need Your Advise by BrTune: 6:52am On Dec 17, 2019
Please do not quit!
You did not come this far to give up!
Keep working hard until you graduate, on ur CV add ur course you do not need to add ur grades...I have seen people with pass grades get jobs while 2.1 candidates are rejected, without the pass grade persons knowing anyone.

Good day Nairalanders.
I'm a student from one of the state University in Nigeria (Southern).
I'm 22years .
Am a 400 Level student from computer science,The problem his I haven't really been lucky with my grades in school (have tried my best)@this point I'm at 1.58CGPA.
Which is so unless @ the point to me .
And to worsted everything I now have 2 spill over years(And I'm yet to write my project).
Off which I could still spend up to 180k to finish up everything (excluding clearance).
At the point, I'm considering to write a professional course exam's (next year),which will not cost me that much with tutor and even if it's to cost up to that amount it's worth it.
I just want to quit school and focus on the exams.
Since I have been the sole support for myself in school. And I have a junior one who his already in his 2nd year in school.(and I have been the one supporting him in school).
Please I want to guys to advise me if this decision I'm about making his worth it @ this point..
Please pardon my bad write up and errors.
Thanks.
Please I really need your advise on this , which I know alot of insult will be coming too grin

Is anyone else scheduled for a Shell Assessment day?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Shell Nigeria (SPDC) Graduate Trainee Recruitment, 2019 by BrTune: 12:14pm On Nov 30, 2019
Things will get better, just stay focused and keep working to improve yourself.

Shell is a great place to start, but there are tonnes of other better places such as the UN, World Bank, IMF...
The opportunities are limitless once you stay positive and keep improving your competencies.

What email did you correspond with? Was it careers@shell.com?

I sent an email to the aforementioned address and after the automated response, received a second email from a Recruitment Services staff named ****presumably from outside Nigeria, saying my email has been forwarded to the right quarters and they would get back to me.

My profile still reads under review.
I hope this is a good sign.

But in the interim, I have accepted the earlier offer I got, and already applying for further studies in Ivy League colleges, while still scouting for more prestigious int’l opportunities.

I will encourage everyone waiting on Shell to do same, while expectantly refreshing ur emails everyday.

Cheers to the good life

brill1:
They changed my status from " under review" to regretted. Although they haven't sent me the official regret mail yet. Now I know my stands, I missed many opportunities while waiting/hoping for shell to contact me for finals. I would constantly check my mail, shell portal and nairaland for update. Well now I'm heading for something greater by Gods grace. Congrats to those who scaled through....
for those still waiting on the lad, i would advice you contact them to know your stands(especially those that have waited for more than 3months). So you won't end up refreshing your mail for shell update till the next 3 years.

What role did you apply for?

I do not think persons who applied for commercial roles from Lagos have been called for final assessment.

buskyobject:
No. I am still waiting for final interview call
did my ODVI since 28th August

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Shell Nigeria (SPDC) Graduate Trainee Recruitment, 2019 by BrTune: 4:14pm On Nov 23, 2019
Thanks

mosgoon:
You have to make a sacrifice and consider cost/benefit analysis. You've not even gotten final stage invite for shell and I can tell you there are a lot of people who have done final stage interviews still waiting for a feedback for more than a month now. Shell acts on rolling basis and they are very very erratic. So I would advice you stick with your offer as the cost/benefit ratio of sticking with Shell is just to high compared with the cost/benefit ratio of sticking with your offer. The ratio being potential loss(worst case scenario) / potential gain(best case scenario)
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Shell Nigeria (SPDC) Graduate Trainee Recruitment, 2019 by BrTune: 7:53pm On Nov 22, 2019
Hi everyone,

Has anyone else who applied for a commercial role In shell and done ODVI (Lagos) received a feedback.

I got a pretty decent offer and it comes with a signing bonus. If I leave within 14 months, I will have to pay back the bonus with interest at 20%

Please anyone with tangible info, share. So it can help me make my decision.

CareerOh Dear! See What Was Written About President Buhari's Daughter. (pics Inside) by BrTune(op): 6:22pm On Jul 21, 2016
The President’s daughter’s graduation occasioned much back slapping and celebration in Aso Rock and elsewhere with photos of her circulating widely on the Internet and appearing in print newspapers. Even Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina proudly splashed photos of Halima and her siblings, Zahra and Yusuf (who recently graduated from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom) with their father.

President Buhari truly, extremely delighted by Halima’s graduation, had real cause to be. Last year, she had failed her Law School final examinations and so could not graduate with her colleagues in August 2015. She had to re-sit the examinations this year with the other two thousand plus students who failed like her.

Halima’s failure was kept under wraps by the media, which did not want reports of her inability to graduate with her colleagues, to embarrass President Buhari.

News of his daughter’s failure would have unsettled the President particularly as his own educational qualifications had been the subject of heated controversy before and during the 2015 presidential elections with a lawyer, Nnamdi Nwokocha-Ahaiwe taking him to court in order to compel him to produce his Secondary School certificate, which he said was with the army but which that institution denied having in its possession.

Halima’s graduation last week therefore gladdened President Buhari, who, even though she managed to eke out a Pass Degree, known in Nigerian academic circles as “Let My People Go” degree, threw a lavish state banquet in her honour.

Has anyone been able to exchange naira for qatari rials in qatar before? If Yes, Where.

And is there anyway I can request my bank to Increase my spending limit?
TravelRe: Please Who Knows Where Naira Can Be Exchanged To Qatari Rials In Qatar by BrTune(op): 8:42am On Aug 29, 2015
Plz how do I make my bank change my transactions to only foreign?
And does that really remove the limit placed by the CBN because...I know the CBN blocked all loopholes with stiff penalties for defaulting banks and plz I bnk with GTB
Femmyfamous4u:
the new cbn law only allows 60000 naira withdrawal locally and $300 withdrawal in a foreign land(qatar in ur case) . however, u can approach any bank to change ur banking transaction to only foreign which allows u to withdraw as u like.
TravelRe: Please Who Knows Where Naira Can Be Exchanged To Qatari Rials In Qatar by BrTune(op):
I tried to do the PTA, but both GTB & Zenith claimed to have suspended PTA at the moment, bank rate is a dollar to 199 bucks, while black markerters are selling at 225 to a dollar., and so they are not an option.

I just pray the Naira Master Card, works in qatar, or atleast functions on POS without restrictions, If not I'm finished. Everything in Naija is a struggle...I jus taya wit this country.
ifegy:
The naira is not really traded/exchangeable outside the country. You should take major currencies like British pounds, US dollars, Euros instead.
