explanation

first step is to find the total volume of the cone., since it's exactly half full of water by volume. it means we divide the volume by 2 to get the volume of the water in the cone. that is the tricky part as one may think it's the height of water in the cone.

next step is to equate the volume of the water in other to get h. but r is also unknown. but if you find the ratio of h/r, we can substitute in the volume equation to get h.

I have taught them similar triangle before and have also solved previous problems using similar triangle too.I gave them this question as class work together with another question .when they could not do it.I started to solve it thinking it is simple just like others. You are a good teacher I must say. It is good you go back to your students to finish any unsolved problem. Some teachers will manipulate and drop the answer there and move to the next topic. Kudos for learning more to teach well,your reward is on Earth. A piece of advice, pls always try to solve some of the questions you intend to use as examples before going to the class. If you encounter this kind of situation again before your students, they will begin to have doubts in you. Try as much as you can to have the most difficult set of questions solved before you attempt them before your students. How do you like your partner? Hourglass shape? Masculine with abs? Tall or short? Huge or petit? Go for what you want, because to each, his own. Don't make a choice today and say " this isn't what i bargained for” tomorrow. Physical compatibility matters.

6. Don't Limit Your possible Choices:
Some people for one silly reason or the other have sworn that that they can never marry outside their tribe, country or race. Thing is we are all human and some of us have our destinies tied outside our tribes,countries and races.
Do away with the eyes of a tribalist or racist when choosing a partner, love is the ultimate and paramount reason.

Noteworthy is also the fact that people nowadays choose partners based on the size of their pockets. This is utterly an act of blindness because love is irreplaceable no matter the opulence.

One compatibility is missing. Traditional/Cultural compatibility. I think it cancel the last point on your list. If you marry a lady whose cultural background and traditional beliefs are different from yours, there will be trouble. That's one of the challenges of teachers in private schools, the more reason we have over spoilt children everywhere now. Teaching in private school is the most difficult white colar job in Nigeria, you have to keep reporting every wrong doings of the kids to the principal who has got no balls to punish them for real. Some parents will even walk majestically to the classroom to harass you cos you had an issue with their ward. Read through the comments here and see that we have plenty of those arrogant parents who feels their kids are too precious to be tempered with. A time will come when all these people will have to teach their kids at home.

You are right, however you ought to know that most of this private schools don't allow teachers to use cane at all. The teacher allowed anger controlled her. Teaching kids and adults who are just learning basic education is the most difficult aspect of teaching.
