Our campaign counsels INEC not to listen to diversionary narratives by apologists of the deflated All Progressives Congress (APC) who are ostensibly seeking ways to derail the election, having realized that their Party has been rejected. The campaign urges INEC to deploy its resources towards conducting a free, fair, transparent and credible election that will be generally accepted by majority of Nigerians. $460,000 forfeiture: Probe allegations before joining Tinubu’s campaign, PDPPCC tells Buhari ***says claims may taint President's integrity Barely 24 hours to the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign in Jos, Plateau State, President Muhammadu Buhari, has been advised not to join the trail without first investigating the circumstances surrounding the forfeiture to the United States government of the sum of $460,000 by the flag bearer of the party, Bola Tinubu. The advice was given by the Atiku/Okowa Campaign Organisation who reasoned that if the allegations of narcotic involvement were proved to be true in the end, it will impugn on the President's integrity. President Buhari is expected to grace the Jos rally to lead the campaign for the ruling party's candidate. The spokesman of the campaign organization, Kola Ologbondiyan, who gave this admonition in a phone chat on Monday, recalled that the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, who is also the spokesman of the APC Presidential Campaign, had admitted that there was a forfeiture of money by Tinubu even though he linked it to tax issues. According to the Campaignorganization, whether the forfeiture was linked to drugs or tax, there was no doubt money was taken from Tinubu’s account. The Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization therefore noted that given the implications that might follow, the right thing to do is for President Buhari to probe the allegations before presenting Tinubu to Nigerians. The campaign organization maintained: "There are suggestions in public space that President Muhammadu Buhari should distance himself from the candidate of their party on the ground that it can rubbish whatever integrity is left of President Muhammadu Buhari. "So, the natural expectation being that the government of President Buhari can go and even investigate the allegation against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the sense that a serving minister in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari who is also the spokesperson of the campaign organization of Bola Tinubu had already admitted the fact that there was forfeiture. But he said it was a taxation. "So, whichever way you look at it, money believed to belong to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was taken out of his account, a whopping sum of $460,000. There’s no argument of any sort. "And as we speak now, there are also report in public space Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu claimed to have worked in Deloitte. But there are reports now that Deloitte has denied the fact that he ever worked with them. "So, I believe that all this needs to be investigated by President Muhammadu Buhari before he begins to go round to present Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a candidate. "Because if at the end of the day he doesn’t carry out a proper investigation and all the issues that are in public space come out to be real, how is he going to run away from it? Or how is he going to run away from them?" The Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization warned that with just a few months left in his tenure, President Buhari should not to allow himself to be dragged into any drug controversy. "You don’t expect a President Buhari who was elected into office on account of his integrity to go and support a candidate who is being alleged to have forfeited money to the United States government on grounds of alleged link to drug issues. "You don’t expect a president who is leaving office, who has how many months to leave office to be dragged into a drug cartel. These issues of drug cartel, these are implications that might arise," the campaign organization declared. Recall that following the recent receipt of a certified true copy of the US order to forfeit the amount, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had hinted that it may approach the court to determine if his participation in the 2023 poll will not violate the Constitution and Electoral Act. The National Publicity Secretary of the main opposition party, Debo Ologunagba, who addressed a press conference on the issue in Abuja on Sunday, disclosed that the party is keeping its options open. The party spokesman, who was fielding questions, on the attempt by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to distance itself from the case that emanated from a court in Chicago, Illinois, had been asked whether it will head to court should the electoral body fail to act. He said: "We are very hopeful. What we decide to do as a party, we don't consult you, we don't tell you. When we started the case against Osun, we didn't tell you, right? "So, we will look at the issue and take decisions and actions based on the exigencies of the times, the requirement and the need to protect our constitution and our electoral process. So, you leave that us." Speaking specifically on a possible court challenge, Ologunagba, stated: "Every option is on the table. And so, I will leave it like that." He debunked insinuation that a court in the United States is not of competent jurisdiction, explaining that countries are encouraged to domesticate international conventions which Nigeria is signatory, and such has led to local laws including the one money laundering. "Second, trafficking in narcotic is one of such. That's why we have the NDLEA and other agencies of government to enforce that because they have been domesticated, they are international conventions. "Those crimes are described as international crimes to which every member state of the United Nations is a signatory and they are obligated to be like. "And our constitution is also clear about that. It talks about court or tribunal in Nigeria and it says 'by any court or any other court' which by my interpretation and by extension of this constitution, is any other court that is consistent with those international conventions and international crimes. "We will study it and any appropriate action that needs to be taken, it will be taken. Like I said to you, every option is on the table," he declared as he read from the proceedings of the court suggesting an indictment. Reading from a prepared text earlier, the PDP spokesman, said: "It is no longer news that the Presidential Candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is irredeemably and hopelessly ineligible to contest the February 2023 Presidential election having been reportedly indicted and subjected to criminal forfeiture judgement for a narcotic related offence by a United States Court in Northern Illinois. "Nigerians are however appalled by the lame attempt by the APC Presidential Campaign which, after admitting that there was a $460,000 drug money criminal forfeiture judgment against accounts traced to the APC Presidential Candidate, is now desperately trying to pull a wool over the eyes of the Nigerians people and our democracy institutions. "Seeing that it is technically out of the Presidential contest and further distraught because it cannot also field candidates at all levels in the 2023 general elections due to its illegal and unconstitutional congresses, the APC has resorted to unleashing hoodlums to attack PDP Presidential Campaign rallies and other innocent Nigerians going about their legitimate endeavors as witnessed in Kaduna and Borno States, in a bid to trigger crisis and scuttle the elections. "There are already apprehensions in the public space of unrefuted allegations that the APC is behind the orchestrated attacks on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices in Ogun and Osun States. "The plan of the APC is to instill fear in the citizenry, disorganize and weaken other political parties, frighten, hamstring and immobilize INEC from conducting the 2023 general elections. "The APC must note that its schemes, denials, threats and resort to violence cannot help Asiwaju Tinubu. By the provision of Section 137 (1) (d) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) Asiwaju Tinubu is not eligible to contest the Presidential election in Nigeria. "Section 137 (1) (d) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) provides that  1) A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if: (d) He is under a sentence of death imposed by any competent court of law or tribunal in Nigeria or a sentence of imprisonment or fine for any offence involving dishonesty or fraud (by whatever name called) or for any other offence, imposed on him by ANY COURT or tribunal or substituted by a competent authority for any other sentence imposed on him by such a court or tribunal. "For clarity, forfeiture is means “something to which the right is lost as for commission of a crime or misdeed, neglect of duty, or violation of a contract” "It is instructive to note that trafficking in narcotic is an international crime to which all nations are obliged and mandated to apprehend, prosecute and enforce any judgment or Court Order imposed on offender. Nigeria being a signatory to international convention on trafficking in narcotic is obliged to enforce any Order or judgement imposed on any offender by a competent court ANYWHERE in the world. "For emphasis the US Court “Ordered that the funds in the amount of $460,000 in account 263226700 held by First Heritage Bank in the name of Bola Tinubu represent proceeds of narcotics trafficking or were involved in financial transactions in violation of 18 U.S.C. S1956 and 1957 and therefore these funds are forfeited to the United States pursuant to 21 U.S.C. S881(a)(6) and 18 U.S.C S981' "Having been sentenced and fined by way of criminal forfeiture of $460,000 drug money in a criminal suit filed pursuant to the United States Criminal Code, Asiwaju Tinubu cannot by virtue of Section 137 (1)(d) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) seek office as President of Nigeria." Drug Cartel: Atiku/Okowa Campaign Dismisses Tinubu Alibi, Says Forfeiture Establishes Link to Drug Money The Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization after a review of issues arising from the linking of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to a drug cartel and surmised that the forfeiture of $460,000 by Tinubu to the authorities of the United States of America establishes a connection to drug money. Campaign maintains that our nation can not afford allowing a candidate with the remotest link to a drug cartel near the Presidential Villa. We insist that the mention of Tinubu’s name in a crime bordering on drugs and consequent upon which some monies were forfeited raises a moral question and issues of security threat. How for instance will the nation cope with a President who will consistently be blackmailed by a drug cartel? It is also disturbing that Asiwaju minders are running around an ocean of excuses from where they have been fetching what they believe will convince Nigerians. It is deductible that the $460,000 removed from the account represented the illicit fund that accrued from the drug. That accounts for the reason why no other sum was removed from the account contrary to argument from Tinubu’s minders that the amount represented a tax. But if indeed, like his minders have said, Tinubu “took responsibility” for drugs money, it goes with saying that he must also take responsibility for the consequences of that action. |

Is it not strange that Tinubu, who claims to be a progressive, is dodging debate, a hallmark of progressivism? Asiwaju Tinubu and Kashim Shettima have turned themselves into a butt of public joke over their reported inability to even defend the scripts that were written for them with spurious claims and litany of fake promises which Nigerians have appropriately tagged as ‘Renewed Hopelessness’. Moreover, it is apparent that the APC Presidential Candidate could not detail his running mate to represent him at the Abuja debate ostensibly because of Sen. Shettima’s abysmal performance at the last Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industries outing. Besides, the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign is challenged to come clean on allegations in the public domain that Shettima is avoiding the debates for fear of awaiting probing questions on the alleged compromising of security as Governor of Borno State during which about 270 students were abducted in Chibok. Also, under his watch as Governor, there are unanswered questions over series of deadly terrorism attacks in the Borno State. Is Sen. Shettima afraid of explaining to Nigerians why his government did not heed to the alleged security warning and directive by the Federal Government to relocate the schoolgirls to a safer location which would have averted the abduction? In shunning public debates, both Tinubu and Shettima have shown that they have nothing to offer and that they are in the Presidential race just for personal aggrandisement and not to serve Nigerians. October 28, 2022 Press Statement 2023: Atiku/ Okowa Campaign Punctures, Dismisses Fitch Report on Tinubu The Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization has dismissed as speculative a report credited to Fitch Ratings and peddled by the Tinubu Campaign Organization conjecturing an unsupported direction for the 2023 Presidential election. From all analysis, the said report is merely contrived, imaginary and completely illusory; It is a trivial opinion of ignorant interlopers which does not conform with any empirical or substantiated indicators regarding the direction of the 2023 Presidential election in Nigeria While we do not want to conclude on the opinion already widely held in the public space that the report was procured or not emanating officially from Fitch, especially, given the desperation and devious antecedents of the Tinubu Campaign Organization and the All Progressives Congress (APC), it is however important to state that these conjectures are direct opposite of the reality on ground. It is important to note that the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has no electoral fighting chance before the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa. Contrary to the report being peddled by the APC, Asiwaju Tinubu is battling with trust issues, stamina concerns, massive open rejection by majority of voters across the country, mass exodus from his APC into PDP due to the abysmal failures of his party in addition to his (Asiwaju’s) self-confessed selfish motives for being in the Presidential race. In reality, unlike Atiku Abubakar, Asiwaju Tinubu has no strong, organic and reliable political base anywhere in the country and cannot get the required 25% in majority of the States of the federation. Across the north, the APC Presidential Candidate does not have a stable political structure with the daily decamping of hordes of Nigerians in the region who voted for President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and 2019 now crossing over to the PDP to support Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 elections. In the south, Asiwaju Tinubu has no solid base in the South South and South East where he has been roundly rejected. Even in the South West, the former Lagos State governor has been demystified as evidenced in his party's devastating loss in the last Governorship election in Osun State; a state considered to be his ancestry home, to the PDP. October 23, 2022 Press Statement Tinubu Has No Record of Keeping Promises The Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization has told the people of Kano State to disregard the fluke promises made to them by the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as Tinubu and the APC are not known to keep their words. The Atiku Campaign however said its Candidate, Atiku Abubakar and running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, are promise keepers who had always and will continue to fulfill all the promises they have made to Nigerians. Dismissing Tinubu's assertion on giving Nigerians 100 percent of his time, Atiku Campaign pointed out that Asiwaju Tinubu has proven to be unreliable and unavailable for governance as he has been spending his optimal time out of the country for undisclosed reasons. On the other hand, the PDP Presidential Candidate is a full time personality both in words and actions as he has demonstrated in and out of office. The people of Kano have not forgotten all the fake promises made to Nigerians by the APC, where Asiwaju is National Leader, including bringing the naira to the same value with the US dollar, building one refinery each for the first four years of President Muhammadu Buhari 's administration; giving loans to undergraduate students and paying N5000 to aged men and women. Atiku Campaign noted that almost eight years down the tenure, not the littlest of these promises has been fulfilled. Continuing, the Atiku Campaign said it is heart-rending that Tinubu can return to Kano to release another set of fake promises whereas his campaign covenant of 2015 and 2019 are like water poured into a basket. We are not surprised that Tinubu is only making token promises without detailing how they will be achieved. He wants to boost agriculture and link international markets with commodity without addressing the troubling issue of insecurity, which is primal on Atiku Abubakar's list. Ologbondiyan asserted that from Tinubu’s persistent self-centered assertions, haughty claims, annexation and brazen entitlement messaging, which he further displayed during his interaction with stakeholders in Kaduna on Monday, it is clear that the APC Presidential Candidate is being driven by the lust to appropriate the nation as his personal estate and not for the national interest. Nigerians watched with utter dismay as Tinubu, as usual, avoided questions and discussions on critical and imperative national issues, which confirms that he is in the Presidential race for reasons other than the wellbeing of Nigerians. The APC Presidential Candidate has not been forthcoming on issues of transparency, accountability and answerability in government, devolution of power, state police, federal character and other key issues that will enhance democratic tenets for the benefit of Nigerians; a development that further confirms a selfish intention against the inclusive interest of our nation. Perhaps this explains why the APC Presidential Candidate has not composed a campaign organization; a foretaste of exclusionist agenda. Even his proposed economic policies were generalised without addressing the specific problems of galloping inflation and its attendant unbearable rising costs, unemployment, high interest rates and the abysmally low purchasing power of Nigerians. Nigerians must therefore resist such tendencies as any government built on what the APC Presidential Candidate ostensibly represents will amount to creating a fiefdom for a self-conceited ruler over our nation. Never in our national history have Nigerians seen a politician with this level of self-entitlement. It is laughable that since he became the APC Presidential Candidate, Tinubu has sought for endorsement under every guise forgetting that 2023 election is a referendum against the mass failures of the APC in governance. The immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, has reacted to the return of funds by some members of the National Working Committee allegedly paid into their accounts by the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, saying the money was legitimately earned and that it has been the practice in the party. The former spokesman disclosed this while fielding questions on the Arise TV morning Show program on Friday. Recall that at least six of 19 members of the NWC had returned funds paid into their accounts after alleged approval by Ayu. The amounts range from N28.8million to N36million, depending on the recipient’s position. Those who have refunded included Taofeek Arapaja, Deputy National Chairman South; Stella Effah-Attoe, National Woman Leader; Dan Orbih, National Vice Chairman, South-South. Others were Alli Odefa, National Vice Chairman, South-East, Olasoji Adagunobi-Oluwatukesi, National Vice Chairman, South-West; Setonji Koshoedo, Deputy National. The development is said to have unsettled the PDP top hierarchy, including the camp of the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who see the unfolding events as not good for the party, especially with the commencement of campaigns. But speaking on the issue, Ologbondiyan said it had been the practice in the PDP to pay members of the NWC allowances as they do not receive monthly salaries. There is no way this issue that we are discussing now would not have been debated, going by experience, in the National Working Committee, with minutes taken, and it will be agreeable to all members of the NWC what each member is going to get. “So it is totally strange that people are talking about money legitimately earned as if it is a bribe. I will be surprised if any member of the NWC comes up to say that the issue was not discussed at the committee; that there was no agreement in the committee. |
