The last time youths got hold of power in africa they decided never to let go. It was africa's darkest time. Power corrupts, but power in the hands of a young man in his prime puts societies in danger, Better voting a 80year old dictator than a 30 year old dictator. It's about the mindset, not the age. |

benji93: It's a serious problem. It's easier to blame an outsider than someone in your backyard, who may have been responsible for your problems. They should ask their relatives and politicians who fought for secession then, why they did so if a significant number of their people were enjoying their lives so much. Maybe it was just a group of bitter politicians who felt their people were wronged because they were denied certain political positions. It's disappointing that the majority of these politicians do not understand the difference between personal interest and regional/national interest. It's even more disappointing that the people cannot/will not realize it when their leaders are full of shit. Sincerely...they're something else, they'll brag, go out and shit the bed and blame Yoruba's for it like we're their fathers....they never take responsibility for their actions and think they know it all and are perfect at stuff when they aren't worth shit. God help us all. |

SUNNINO: Yes, elders from Mid west and later Bendel state testified that he was actually a tribalist, that way and manner he treated the non Yorubas in then western Nigeria ,led to the creation of mid west region in 1963. He discriminated against other tribes and had serious hatred for the Igbos due to the division of his region, because he felt they incited the people to call for mid west region. He was more of Regional leader than Nationalist as claimed, he shared that quality sectionalism with Buhari. No it's you Igbos that are just exactly like the fulani...... you're only pissed that you aren't the oppressor. The great Awo had the interest of his people at heart and knew that a nigerian state was not doable reason why he opted for the succession clause but the stupid zik because of his greedy igbo nature, false sense of grandeur and nazi like ideologies stood against Awo thinking it would benefit him and his half wit stupid tribesmen....we all know how that ended... you call Awolowo who pitied you subhumans with £20 evil when Nnamdi Azikiwe onced called Ojukuwu and your biafra forefathers rebels and begged France to stop sending aid to you idiots. you Igbos are pathetic victim complex fools. Yoruba's will always live rent free in your flatskulls.

benji93: I can understand your frustration, which is justified given your people were at the receiving end of the action. But what did you expect him to do? keep you in the western region after you decided to leave? You chose to leave, and of course any leader would hate a sub-region that decides to cut themselves out. Maybe the question should be, why did some of the people of the midwestern region decide to stay after they had voted to leave? More like they had no idea what they were doing. It seems, carving out the midwestern region wasn't well calculated. The leaders that agitated for this on behalf of their people should have considered that a forced exodus of their people from cities in the western region could result from it. God bless you....I don't understand some of the shit this people talk at times....you voted to leave the region but you're angry that you were kicked out of the region....same as most igbos; you want biafra and freedom for Igbo land but you don't want to leave Lagos.....imagine the children of Isreal saying they want to leave Egypt but still want to remain in Cairo.... they're a seriously confused set of human beings. |

omoharry: lol..I am not a PDP nor APC..I am not like you that sorround yourself with party politics.I dont do that.I vote base on who the person is than which party he is from. As for the Niger Delta pollution..why dont you ask your leaders in the paste why they pulluted a once green arear becos it the the only region that provide your daily meal?Do you think if the oil companies based in Lagos do not pay tax as a result of the crude explore and gas they get from Nigeri Delta, your Lagos with be the milk and honey that is it? Do not bite the hands that feed your sorry ass ok? One thing about me is that, I acknowledge the failures of our leaders, which I never disputed, but I am way better than you, that would rather eat the crumbs that falls from he table of corrupt politicians that say things the way things are.
The people of the Niger Delta have continued to suffer the effect of what provide countrys main source of income and your dare raise your gutter mouth to badmouth our polluted enviroment?Even the Fed govt cannot clean up the damages that they have done over the years. So many people have raised issues over these problems with various agitation here and there and what they did was to provide them with amnesty so as to calm freyed nerves and allow few to get rich while the poor wallow in the same polluted environment cause by the Nigeria govt so that the country can be sustained and continue business as usual. . You can insult our leaders and politicians, becos they deserve it, since there are corrupt and a disappointment to our region but don't ever open that gutter mouth of your to insult the polluted environment caused by years of oil spillage caused by years of oil exploration, so that the country can survive, since it happens to be our major source of income.
Do you think as it is, Nigeria can survive without oil? where do you think the oil comes from? the Gas companies and oil companies in Lagos that have continued to be a boost to the tax revenue of Lagos, where do you think the oil is coming from? You talk so passionately about your Demi god Tinubu but at the same time you talk stupidly without thinking.
Like I said..mark my word..your Tinubu will never smell Aso Rock..With the right support and sponsorship, A Fashola and Osibanjo have more leverage than him..Even if he has all the money in the world to play around with and to even buy over your own very conscience & soul ,it will not change who he is. He can be a kingmaker since that is what he good with anyway. Anyway, enough with you and your die hard Tinubu . I leave you with your opinion and what you stand for, so will I maintain mine.No hard feelings.Bye. Niger Delta oil is what feeds the south west..... rubbish, yet the feeders can't feed themselves, stupid fvcktard.....ibadan alone is a 400year old city do you think it's the black gold you idiots shit out your asses that sustained us, University of ibadan, University of Ife( the stanford of Nigeria) do you think it's your stupid oil that built these schools, you're moving mad. FrLukas: I swear down.
One week on Nairaland and they understand what's going on.
The reason some of them still don't support a YORUBA nation is because they be thinking, "awwww...so I won't see my Igbo friends again. We will now be in different countries, blah blah blah..."
They need to listen to Nnamdi Kanu's rhetorics, they will wake up fast. Those yoruba fools are the most ignorant of all, watch an Igbo man closely.... he'd only befriend a Yoruba if he/she has something to gain, they'll support you and hail you if you're rich and have something to offer them or you're married to their sister.....look what's happening with that adeleke boy called davido, he's surrounded himself with snakes, rats and scorpions but he doesn't know, they're hailing him and calling him inlaw but he'd be surprised what would happen when shit hits the fan. Issue with this group of Yoruba's is that they never realize it until it happens. |

FrLukas: You see ehn, before I stumbled upon Nairaland, I didn't give tribal sentiments any thoughts at all. We all see Igbos around in Yorubaland everywhere. I'm Catholic, I see them in my parish, we sit together on the same pews, we shake hands, we commune together etc.
Then I stumbled upon Nairaland and realized that I hadn't been listening to the Igbos I met offline.
The subtle remarks, the quiet blame, the continuous comparison and struggle to feel superior to the Yorubas suddenly burst here on Nairaland.
The good thing about Nairaland is that it is anonymous.
Your very good Igbo friend may be posting complete trash about Yorubas here and you won't know.
The two of you may be cursing each other here on Nairaland and you'd still meet offline and be friends.
Once in a while when their elders come out to say stuff like this man has done, it reminds you that all is not well.
Whatever your relationship with the Igbos are, just understand that in their hearts, they will always blame the Yorubas for their loss of the civil war.
That's why online and offline, they mock Yorubas as cowards because they thought we chickened out and didn't support them to fight the senseless war. A war chief Awolowo cautioned Ojukwu to dialogue instead of war.
When they use the words betrayers, chameleon etc to describe the Yorubas, it's because of the lies their parents have told them. More Yoruba's should be encouraged to join nairaland, this place gives you quality political education for free. |

omoharry: I Let me sing you a verse from Bob marley.
" Emancipate yourself from mental slavery non but ourselves can free our mind". Duel on this word and see if you are worthy to have a better country with your way of thinking. Remember this is how the northerners/South west people thought about Buhari before 2015. Even when they knew he once failed in the 80s they still accepted the package of Tinubu and forgot who he was in the 80s..Now he is the greatest mistake of our very existence. This man was picked on Nigeria by your precious Tinubu, who he is known for sourcing for technocrat ended up givings us a complete failure, becos he was too blind to win at all cost. I am sure Buhari is your one and only sai baba and you still think he is the best thing that has happen to Nigeria. Stfu you stupid fool.....my family and I campaigned for Jonathan in the last election in ibadan, financially speaking we had more to gain from the jonathan administration than buhari and same as alot of Yoruba's like me, tinubu's only mistake was supporting a failure called buhari to power....should we crucify him for that? This man built Lagos, a non oil producing state even to what it is now even when obasanjo denied him federal allocation, he may be a thief but he didn't take his loot to Switzerland or Spain, he raised technocrats and governors who have done quite exceptionally well....should we in the SW support PDP or criminals like bode George, you idiots seem to always have hot takes and advice for south westerners when your Niger delta region is an embarrassment to Nigeria, your leaders are known career criminals who steal community wealth and bring it to lagos to flex, their kids are either attending schools in the south west or abroad, the lakes, rivers and natural habitat of your stink hole of a region has been destroyed by oil spills and bunkering leaving your fishermen with no source of livelyhood, you guys earn 13% from oil revenues but don't have anything to show for it....the igbenedion family bleeped, raped and ruined Edo state via lucky, Alamieyeseigha, ibori likewise ruined and passionately ruined their respective states beyond redemption, the south east is basically a shithole. Focus more on your damned region maybe it would reduce the number of economic rats coming into the south west. |

Kings, warriors, famous people prefer to die fighting not feeble hearted people like Zik, Ojukwu, Nnamdi Kanu. You remember Adekunle Fajuyi? Those are really Yoruba sins. If anyone behaves otherwise, he could be a bastard, an Igbo man with Yoruba names. Sincerely I don't understand this delusional fools.....Awo put aside his ambition and went the honourable way instead of running like a stupid coward like ojukwu, this practice was widespread in Yorubaland back in the day when obas failed to protect his people he was given the calabash or parrots eggs and forced to commit suicide, even in japan samurais who fail at war are forced to commit suicide. Awo is no egotistical greedy coward who is willing to toss 3million of his people for personal interests... it's why I'd mark any Igbo man for death who insults this man to may face. Defend only leaders that can stand for you and ever ready to bleed for their people when there is security issues(like the Fulani assault on the people of south west) in the Land. Tinubu is a coward and I know so many hungry guys like you who have continued to ass lick him becos the crumbs he throw at you people. You on the other hand, is here defending this corrupt and greedy man that has kept mute over the killings of his people by Fulani headmen , and enabled by Pres Buhari. A man he helped put into power because of his ambitions. Now He cannot speak out of fear and when he does, he speaks with both side of his mouth, so as not to offend the power that be. He is not a hero but a coward. Your kind are the reasons why these corrupt politicians will continue to steal and impoverish your people, becos of low life like you, who are ever ready and willing to die for these politicians any time any day. While their children are sent abroad with your stolen money or given juicy positions in govt Institutions , lording over your sorry ass, while you continue to pick crumb of bread that fall from their tables.
