I think our government is too slow, you cannot allow one section of a country to take us for ransom; that is exactly what Niger Delta militants are doing. When we call our self a united nation, we should not allow anyone to take advantage of us. What they are looking for is for government to negotiate with them and started awarding them unnecessary contract. I will advise government to send army into that area and wipe them out. Such thing cannot happen in USA or UK. Why did we allow that to happen in Nigeria? They need to be taking out, that is the solution. The negotiation done by our last head of state end up in big corruption. Let us stop waste our money. Southwest have contributed Cocoa to the economy of this country before oil was discovered, likewise North have contributed agricultural products to this nation without taking anyone for ransom. This nonsense need to stop, I hope you people in government are listen. |
Hello, I saw some of the fine design you guys in Nairaland but I don’t know if you can give me nice design that I can use to build my country house. I have two to three plot of land that I want to build a nice family house that will contain all my families. We are family of six; each room we have separate bathroom and toilet. I need nice place to relax outside the house. I need two self-contain or two bedroom flat at the back of the main building. I do not want those flat at back to have same link with main house because my mom will be the one living in the main house. However, where we can relax can be on top of the house or whatever nice area you can come up with. In addition, I love nice fence and gate. I like to have nice kitchen, theater room and where I can drink and if you can let me see what you can up with i will appreciate that. If you have answer to this question please get in touch with me at otprince1@gmail.com Taiye |

I won’t say it’s not possible but, you have to be careful. i have a friend that have 10 times what you have, but still scared to go to back Nija. I don’t know, there are too many 419 in that country. Trouble starts right from airport, family, old friends. In fact to be honest with you I don’t know how you can survive with that. But with good plan and prayer I think you will make it. I wish some can let us know how much is enough when you are living in abroad before you go back home. It’s really scarred. We all love our country, people back home don’t make it easy for us to come back home. |
When Powell arrived to help, Hall weighed 548 pounds at his first weigh-in. "Wow, I look at this number and I'm motivated," he said at the time. "My goal is to get into the "twos" and officially bring sexy back." In the next year, with Powell at his side, Hall pushed through the highs and lows of his weight-loss journey. "I'm just going to keep pushing because I can't be 548 [pounds]," he said. "The next number after 548 is death." After one year on Powell's program, Hall weighed in at 267 pounds and had dropped from a size 70 waist to a size 38. His total weight loss came to more than 280 pounds. http://gma.yahoo.com/video/health-26594251/football-player-s-inspiring-weight-transformation-30328937.html |
Though, i too agreed that the money is a little bit small, but i did not see anyone giving this guy specific amount that might be reasonable. so my question to you guys is that how much did you guys think is reasonable for some just coming down to Nija to stay after many years in abroad? |
Icon4s: Nothing outrageous abt d average of N37M per annum( less than $20,000/month) which am sure includes other allowances. These ar top senior & management staff. Most oil workers in d US earn abt $30,000 to $60,000/month as salaries excluding certain allowances. Nigerian oil workers ar abt d least paid world-wide.Its people like you that are ruin the image of this country, you guys will be fabricating what you don’t know, I am working in oil industry here in US, and I don’t know who you are refereeing to that is making 30-60 dollars a month. Maybe you don’t know what 60k dollars mean here in US. If you see it in the news that CEO of Oil Company make so so amount of money, what you asked yourself is how many CEO did that company have? If someone do something bad let join hand together and condemn those people not encourage them again. |

Nigerian cops are usually reviled. Citizens often accuse them of demanding bribes from crime suspects or victims, engaging in extra-judicial killings and colluding with criminals for financial returns. Not Monday Agbonika, the exceptional police chief at Isokoko Police Division at Agege area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria. Residents say Agbonika, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of Isokoko, has turned the once notorious division into a friendly place and the Wall Street Journal, the influential American publication, described him in an article this week as an exceptional police chief who does not demand or accept bribes. “It’s all about community policing,” he said at a public function recently. “I just try to ensure that I have a plan on the ground, study the area and find out what the concerns of the community are and I follow the plan,” he added with humility. “A few years ago, it was a very notorious police station. There were cases of extra judicial killings. Victims were asked to pay for basic services and suspects were freed after paying a bribe. There was also money for bailing suspects out,” a resident told P.M.NEWS recently, echoing the feeling of others. Residents have built a magnificent police station for Agbonika and his men, a striking difference from the ramshackle building they used to occupy before he came in four years ago. To Agbonika, a native of Kogi State and a Masters ‘Degree holder in psychology, from the University of Jos, Plateau State, north central Nigeria, policing is made interesting when the needs of the community are identified and a genuine desire to satisfy them undertaken. “I get information from the community, I work with them, they all have my phone numbers and can call me at any time of the day and we tackle problems together. All these have really helped. “When I was a child, I hated to see people being cheated, so as a child, I took up issues of people being bullied. I see this as an opportunity to prevent people from cheating others. Then with the community policing training, I get much done. “And by involving the community members like the vigilantes, I put policemen on the road at key areas and the robbers know that policemen are everywhere and they keep off the area. I just ensure that my men are there and more importantly I ensure that the overall plan is carried out. When we follow the plan, everything goes as planned,” he said. The 44-year old DPO has instilled discipline in his staff and police extortions have been eliminated. There is no payment for bail and victims or suspects are not asked to pay for fuel, paper or pen. Indeed, P.M.NEWS confirmed that everything is free. To him, “an ideal policeman should have genuine interest in serving the people. He should be a policeman that will accept the shortcomings that we have in the system such as lack of logistics. He must know that he is a servant and not a lord over the community.” http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2011/09/30/dpo-sets-pace-in-lagos/

Friday, May 20, 2011 FG grants citizenship to 92 foreigners Adelani Adepegba, Abuja No fewer than 92 foreigners received their certificates of citizenship from President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Thursday. advertisement The new citizens included nationals of Lebanon, United Kingdom, Canada, Niger, India, Italy, Philippine, Venezuela, Moroco and so on. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the President stated that the beneficiaries had met all the prescribed administrative and constitutional requirements before their application for citizenship was granted. He said foreigners could be granted Nigerian citizenship either by registration or naturalization if they had resided in the country for at least 15 years and had satisfied the Federal Executive Council that they were of good character, of full age and have contributed or are contributing meaningfully to the development of their community. Jonathan, who was represented by the Minister of Interior and Labour, Chief Emeka Wogu, stated that the awardees had proved beyond doubt that they were equal to the task of contributing to the growth of the nation. He tasked the awardees as new citizens, to abide by the nation's ideals and to obey all legitimate authorities and make positive contributions to the advancement of their communities. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Alhaji Saidu Ozigis, said the grant of citizenship was a constitutional provision to honour deserving foreigners in consonance with the Citizenship Ordinance of 1960; Citizenship Act of 1961; Chapter II of the 1963 constitution, the constitution Suspension and Amendment Decree No. 33 of 1974 and Chapter III of 1979 and 1999 constitution respectively. He explained that the award of citizenship to the foreigners was a testimony of the administration's belief in globalisation which according to him, has broken down national boundaries through the constant movement of persons and interaction on an unprecedented scale. Can someone enlighten me here, did our government system so good that someone still find Nigeria so fascinating and they want to become Nigeria citizen or are they kidding me or something. I am looking for someone that will buy my own citizen. I think govt suppose to arrest anyone that apply to be a Nigeria citizen, and jail them. Don’t you guy understand their motive already ![]() |
