2025 Omor New Yam Festival to Hold On 23rd August - Monarch Announces, Demands Free Cost Loans From Govt, Says It Will Boost Farmers' Morale, Makes Farming Attractive By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu The traditional ruler of the Omor community in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Dr. Chris Oranu Chidume (Eze Ana ukwu, Eze Igwulube) has called on government at all levels to offer free cost loans to farmers, especially to the young ones, emphatically said that doing so would make farming attractive and lucrative, adding that it would help in no small measures in curbing youth restiveness, crime and criminality in the country. The widely travelled Monarch who made the call at his Palace at Omor while speaking to select journalists on the preparation of this year's New Yam Festival Celebration billed to hold on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, stated that they were grateful to the God for giving them a bountiful harvest, saying that they have every reason to celebrate, wine and dine, acknowledging that some years had not been so good in terms of the end product. 'The rain didn't disturb much. It helps the farmers to cultivate and nurture their yam crops and other things, unlike other years when we witnessed heavy rainfall. Omor is one of the biggest communities in Anambra, both in population and land mass, we are known for farming, especially yam and rice. Before now, we are generally known for our skills in yam productions. We have lands, and we even go to our neighbouring communities to cultivate. We are not lacking human resources. All we are asking the government at all levels to do is to invest heavily in Omor. 'We good access road in Omor, vehicle conveying crops are always breaking down on the roads as a result of poor condition of our roads. We are suffering untold hardship evacuating our farm produce. We need free cost loans to enable the farmers to stay in their farming business. Farmers need the required attention to blossom. See, the road from Otuocha to Omor is in a very bad shape. It seriously needs urgent attention. The traditional ruler urged the government to study and apply the template used by the Chrysoral Groups, where they offer free cost loans to individual farmers and groups, emphasizing that the loans had helped so many young farmers and the older ones to stay in business, adding that this year's festival would be grand and there would be watertight security in and around Omor on Saturday, 23rd August 2025. 'Government at all levels should adopt Chrysoral Groups format. It will make the youths return to farming. On the issue of security, all security chiefs will be here to ensure the security of life and property during, before, and after the celebration. Our community is most peaceful. We are working seriously to address all pending skirmishes. The leadership of the town is working round the clock to restore law and order. The royal father announced that as part of his 10th year anniversary celebration, there have been plans to construct 20,000 capacity stadium where the celebration of iwaji (new yam festival), ofala festival and other key events of the community would be celebrated, saying that contractors would be soon be mobilized to site. Chief Godwin Mgbechi stated there would be enough to eat and drink on that day, including continental dishes and many different delicacies to specially prepared for the tourists, foreigners who would be gracing the ocassion, assuring that preparations are in top gear to give the attendees a mouth-watering and memorable celebration. By-election: ADC Senatorial Candidate, Amamgbo Lampoons INEC, Anambra Govt, Accusing Them of Systematic Sabotage of Electoral Process By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu Following the recently concluded Anambra South Senatorial District by-election held on Saturday, 16th August 2025, the Candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Barr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo has lampooned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Anambra State Government over what he described as systematic sabotage of the electoral process. Speaking during a press conference in Awka, Amamgbo, a lawyer stated that he called today not merely to share his personal disappointment over the just-concluded Anambra South Senatorial Bye-Election, but to expose a dangerous pattern of systemic sabotage, desecration of all democratic norms, collusion, and deliberate disenfranchisement that threatened the very soul of democracy. According to him, 'Elections were meant to be the ultimate expression of the people’s will. Instead, what we witnessed was a carefully orchestrated charade designed to obfuscate, suffocate, and decimate the people’s voice and choice. Ultimately undermining the credibility of the process. 'On the eve of the elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deliberately withheld the tags for our ward and local government collation agents, effectively crippling ADC’s ability to defend the votes of our people at all critical stages of collation. Why one might ask? The answer is the infantile attempt to disillusion and debase ADC, the primary opposition party in Nigeria. Look no further than the loquacious and bombastic statement of Professor Charles Soludo that “Labour and ADC parties are dead in Anambra”. 'If that was so, then Anambra South is an electoral crime scene, and Professor Soludo election malfeasance is the directly to blame. 'In Ihiala, INEC went further by circulating a doctored list of polling agents that did not correspond with the authentic list duly submitted by our party and uploaded on the INEC portal. These are not mistakes. They are not clerical oversights. They are acts of sabotage. 'I ask: How can an election be free and fair when one party is denied collation agents? That is like asking a team to play football blindfolded while the referee looks the other way. 'This sabotage was not random. It was a deliberate and deviant orchestration by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), a political “Cult” in Anambra. 'Very devastating is the fact that the APGA government has normalised to buy full well that the hungry exploited citizens of Anambra state will collect money to vote just to survive another day. 'At the centre of this charade is a Senator-elect tethered to the control of Governor Charles Soludo. This is not democracy. This is puppetry. 'Ndi Anambra South does not need a puppet senator. They need an independent voice who owes allegiance only to the people, not to any godfather or governor. 'This election was not just about Donald Amamgbo or ADC. The real victims are the people of Anambra South. They were denied the chance to elect a candidate who campaigned transparently, who funded his own movement, who made no deals with godfathers, and who pledged to serve only the people. 'When you deny the people their choice, you deny them justice. When you destroy faith in the ballot, you destroy democracy itself. Every time this happens, our children pay the price. A society that starves its people of hope can not prosper. 'This election must not be swept under the carpet as “one of those things.” It is a cautionary sad tale about how vested interests and compromised institutions continue to hijack then eviscerate the people’s will. Today, I call for a thorough review of the entire electoral process in Anambra South to expose and address the sabotage that took place. 'Institutional reforms within INEC guarantee independence, transparency, and accountability. 'Proper voter and agent education so that our people can understand their rights, defend their votes, and resist manipulation. 'An end to the culture of collusion where political parties, godfathers, and electoral umpires work hand-in-hand to suppress genuine democratic choice. Fellow Nigerians, Ndi Anambra South, democracy is not a favour given to the people; it is their right. The mandate of our people can not continue to be stolen through systemic sabotage and manipulation. 'This struggle is bigger than me. It is about securing the future of our democracy and restoring faith in the ballot. I will continue to stand with the people, speak for the voiceless, and resist every attempt to reduce our democracy to an empty and banal ritual. 'Anambra South deserves better. Nigeria deserves better. And until we achieve that, I will not stop speaking. Thank you. God bless Anambra South, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,' he concluded.

By-election: Ukachukwu Flays INEC, Says Results Did Not Reflect Wishes Of People, Calls for Immediate Overhauling of State Police Command By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu Anambra Deputy Governor Has No Right Invading my Community, APC Governorship Candidate Ukachukwu, Calls for Immediate Overhauling of State Police Command By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu The governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), in November 8, 2025 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has flayed the results announced by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) because according to him, they did not reflect the wishes of the people. Addressing newsmen in Awka, the State capital, Ukachukwu noted that the electoral umpire did not collate his wards and several wards in the Zone, wondering which results they use to announce the winner? 'They are afraid. They know they will lose the governorship election,'he said. Ukachukwu said the party, however, had its plan on how to pursue the matter, noting that the matter would be reported to President Bola Tinubu, who he said has a listening ear. Ukachukwu condemned what he described as invasion of his community and others in Nnewi South Local Government Area by the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim with the operatives of the state vigilant group, Udogachi during the last Saturday Bye-election, even as he called on the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, to overhaul the State Police Command. Ukachukwu narrated that on the election day, when no public official is supposed to come out, the Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim led a team of state vigilant group numbering about 500 to his community to arrest people and seize their voter’ cards, cellphones, and even money. He lamented that members of the vigilant group arrested people, beat them, snatched result sheets and tore them into shreds to allow them effectively rig the election, lamenting that the Police in the State did not have a single arrest. The Guber candidate said it took his personal intervention to release their victims and recover all they seized from them, including money, saying that is what he had to do as a leader. 'Both the Deputy Governor and the Udogachi people don’t suppose to be seen on the road on that election day.But they stormed my community, Osumenyi and other communities to collect result sheets, intimidate and arrest people. In all this, Police didn’t make any single.Over 500 vigilant operatives besieged my community. 'The Deputy Governor led Udogachi people to arrest and thwart the election in my community. He has no right to arrest anybody. He don’t even supposed to come out on election day.He broke the rules,' said Ukachukwu. Prince Ukachukwu said if he did not come out to intervene that day, things would have gone wrong because the youth were already spoiling for a show down, and they had almost held the Deputy Governor hostage. He said even journalists on election duty were not spared as the Deputy Governor ordered for their arrest with their vehicles but for his intervention again. Warning that the coming Governorship election would not be this way, Ukachukwu said they would not fold their hands to allow them to perpetuate their atrocities again. The chairman of the party, Chief Basil Ejidike, had earlier alleged that the chairman of the party in Nri ward two was killed during the election. He accused the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), of using the state vigilant members to besiege the homes of three key figures in the party, the Guber Candidate, Ukachukwu, the South Senatorial candidate, Okwuosa, who they did not allow to even exercise his franchise and the Deputy Governorship candidate, Senator Uche Ekwunife whose community was invaded by Udogachi

Ayuba Anda Yalaks, Monday paid a courtesy visit to the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW) in order to deepen collaboration of the project’s effort in watershed management, combat land degradation, and promote environmental sustainability. This was contained in a statement signed by the Communication Specialist, NEWMAP-EIB, Madina Gertrude and made available to Newsmen. During the visit, Engr. Yalaks congratulated the Director General of NAGGW, Alhaji Saleh Abubakar, MFR, on the successful hosting of the 10th Anniversary of the Great Green Wall, recently observed in Dutse, Jigawa State. He described the anniversary as “highly impactful and a strong testament to the Agency’s leadership role in environmental restoration.” He also commended the Director General and the Agency for initiating a five-year strategic plan to plant date palm (Dabino) trees across the NAGGW’s shelter belt corridor of the Sahel — a project designed to enhance livelihoods, strengthen food security, biodiversity, ecosystem restoration, green jobs, food security and to ensure a long-term sustainability and developing resilience of the impacted communities along the belt. He further alluded to the fact that the "Great Green Wall is not just a Wall of Trees across the Sahel but a Wall of Hope, Security, Green jobs opportunities, Economic growth, and peace development". Under the guidance and leadership of Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the Minister for Environment; the National Coordinator highlighted NEWMAP-EIB’s mandate— funded by the European Investment Bank with a five-year lifespan — is dedicated to climate change adaptation, erosion control and flood management, watershed management and developing Nigeria’s resilience to the changing climate. Most of the erosion and flooding challenges that the country is battling with today are largely man made, caused by human quest for livelihood, uncoordinated development, poor termination of drains and that of poor urban town planning and deficit in urban drainage infrastructural investment. With the increase in the rate to which our forest cover is being degraded and the ever rising temperature, the depletion of the ozone layers; our rainfall pattern continue to be disrupted. Therefore, reversing this trend is critical and called for collective action" he said. However, the current government regime under the environmental leadership stewardship of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR is tackling head-on the menace of flood and erosion control through the NEWMAP-EIB funded intervention project. Engr. Yalaks also encouraged the NAGGW to invest more in research and development, focusing on how planted trees — such as Neem, Date palms trees etc — can generate along a value chain, including solutions for managing post-harvest losses, herbicides and pesticides, soil fertilizer, pharmaceuticals etc. This will guarantee ownership and sustainability of the NAGGW across the Sahelian Region of the Nigerian corridor. In his response, the Director General, NAGGW, Alhaji Saleh Abubakar, MFR appreciated the visit and pledged the Agency’s continued collaboration and partnership with NEWMAP-EIB. Both parties reaffirmed their shared vision and commitment to tackling watershed challenges, restoring degraded lands, and building sustainable and resilient environment for the benefit of Nigerians across the Sahel. SWAN Demands Immediate Inauguration of National Sports Commission Board By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has urged the National Sports Commission (NSC) to immediately inaugurate its 17-member governing board. This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary-General, SWAN, Ikenna Okonkwo, and made available to Newsmen Established in 1964, SWAN, the umbrella body for all Sports Editors, Reporters, Producers, and Presenters, warned that the Commission is operating in gross violation of its establishing law with the delay of a properly constituted NSC board. SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, in a statement through Secretary-General Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, on Sunday, said the Commission has been functioning without a statutory board since its creation in October 2024, contrary to the NSC Establishment Act 2023. “As a statutory board member of the NSC, I'm compelled to urge the Chairman and Director-General to take all necessary steps to inaugurate the board without further delay,” President Benjamin said. “Operating without a duly constituted board for nearly a year is not only a breach of the law but also undermines transparency and accountability.” He said Section 2(1) of the Act “is very clear” on the composition of the board, which includes representatives from ministries, sports bodies, the organised private sector, academia, medical field, military, persons with disabilities, the Nigeria Football Federation, the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria, and SWAN. “There is no lawful way to run the National Sports Commission without make 5properly constituted board. “All major decisions made since October 2024 lack legal backing in the absence of the board,” he added. The SWAN President also linked the situation to a wider pattern of governance lapses in Nigerian sports, citing ongoing litigation involving the Nigeria Football Federation and controversies surrounding the Athletics Federation of Nigeria elections. “The NSC cannot continue to function as a two-man entity – comprising only the Chairman and the Director-General – while 15 other constitutionally mandated positions remain unfilled. “This issue will remain on the front burner until the law is obeyed,” he warned. SWAN further lamented the neglect of the association in the scheme of operations, particularly in overseeing the engagement of experienced, qualified, and skilled Communication Managers to handle media operations of various sports federations. According to President Benjamin, this would “complement the service of the NSC, enhance promotion, and boost the digital marketability of sports for sponsorship drives.” He added, “Ignoring SWAN’s expertise in this regard is a missed opportunity to leverage professional sports journalism for national sports growth.” SWAN also noted that a situation where National and International events are carried out unilaterally without necessary inputs by the professional sports media body was unacceptable. "One of the major reasons why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his wisdom approved a National Sports Commission is to enable accelerated and holistic growth and development of Sports in Nigeria. What obtained in the past when sports was under Ministry or bureaucratic encumbrances is supposed to be a thing of the past with the emergence of NSC. "A situation where unnecessary political/non-professional application or approach is deployed in the day-to-day operations of the Sports Commission is by far not the way to go," the statement said.

Anda Ayuba Yalaks announced that the NEWMAP-EIB project has been declared technically and disbursement effective. He also confirmed that the project has received the first tranche of funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB). Engr. He further emphasized the importance of maintaining stability in each state’s project team, cautioning against unnecessary changes in staff composition. "Unnecessary staff turnover could trigger a red flag on the project and result in cleared bank arrangements approved for the states. Additionally, states that have not yet secured the required “No Objection” for their staff composition will experience delays in fund releases. Therefore, the NPC advised State Project Coordinators (SPCs) to remain guided, ensure their authorizing environment is well-informed, and take every measure to meet the stipulated requirements to avoid disbursement delays. DIGITAL DEMOCRACY UNLEASHED: NOCEN MAKES HISTORY HOLDS ONLINE SUG ELECTION In a bold and transformative step toward institutional digitization, the Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN) made history today, Tuesday, August 5, 2025, by conducting its first-ever fully digital Students’ Union Government (SUG) election. The groundbreaking exercise, which saw online campaigns, real-time virtual voting, and transparent collation, signals a new era of smart governance and youth participation in digital democracy. This watershed moment is the latest in a series of bold reforms under the visionary leadership of Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, Provost of the College, whose administration has consistently championed innovation and transparency in line with His Excellency Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s progressive mandate of “Everything Technology; Technology Everywhere.” A SEAMLESS ONLINE ELECTIONEERING PROCESS The build-up to the election featured dynamic online campaigns, where candidates engaged the student body via moderated virtual debates, e-posters, and social media interactions—ensuring accessibility, inclusiveness, and issue-based discussions. No room for physical disruption or electoral malpractice—every vote counted digitally. From the moment polls opened via the College’s secure e-voting platform, students across various departments logged in to cast their votes in real time using their mobile phones and devices. The process was not only seamless but also saw an unprecedented level of participation, with record-high voter turnout. INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT AND OVERSIGHT Ensuring credibility and security, the election was closely monitored by representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), and other observers who were physically present to witness the historic process. Their verdict was clear: the election was free, fair, transparent, and secure—a gold standard for student elections nationwide. TECHNOLOGY IN GOVERNANCE: A CONTINUUM Today’s success did not happen overnight. It is the product of a deliberate and structured digital reform agenda rolled out by the Dr. Anyadiegwu-led administration. NOCEN had earlier introduced: E-Academic Board Meetings – reducing paper usage and making decision-making faster and more collaborative. E-Staff Appraisal System – promoting transparency, data accuracy, and efficient performance evaluation. Digital Electioneering Culture – institutionalizing digital civic engagement and leadership emergence. These initiatives collectively reaffirm the College’s commitment to technology-driven education governance. REPOSITIONING NOCEN FOR GLOBAL RELEVANCE According to Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, “This is more than an election. It is a statement that NOCEN is ready for the global stage—where leadership, transparency, and technology go hand in hand. We are raising future leaders who understand the power of innovation and accountability.” Indeed, the event is a proud reflection of the College’s broader goal of becoming a digitally empowered citadel of learning that produces globally competitive graduates equipped with 21st-century skills. --- Today’s election was not just about student leadership—it was about vision, transformation, and the future. NOCEN has proven that with the right leadership and digital willpower, even the most traditional processes can be reimagined for excellence.

Campaign Permit: Only 5 Out of 16 Registered Political Parties Have Made Payments - ANSAA Boss, Decries Nri Incident, Calls for Peaceful Campaign By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency-ANSAA, Tony Odili Ujubuoñu, гра, says five out of the sixteen registered political parties have so far complied with the guidelines by paying the campaign fee. The Managing Director/CEO who made this known on Tuesday, 5th August 2025, during a press conference in Awka, said Young Progressives Party (YPP) paid on June 24, 2025; African Democratic Congress (ADC) on June 26, 2025, Labour Party (LP) on June 27, 2025; Action Alliance (AA) on June 27, 2025 while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) paid on July 2, 2025. 'These parties have since been granted a campaign permit each and an unrestricted access to the Out-of-Home campaign space across the state. 'We also acknowledge that some of the remaining political parties have opted for alternative campaign platforms such as social media, radio, or television to avoid breaching the established regulations. This approach is acceptable, provided it does not violate the Out-of-Home advertising laws in Anambra State. 'Unfortunately, one political party has deliberately violated the law. Despite refusing to obtain the mandatory campaign permit, they have proceeded to engage in unauthorized promotional activities; erecting posters, branding vehicles, hoisting banners, organizing filled with promotional items bearing party names and logos, and even installing unapproved billboards at irregular sites without registered practitioners and due vetting from the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON). 'We are pleased to welcome you once again to the headquarters of the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA) for this important press briefing, organized to update Ndi Anambra on the implementation of the Out-of-Home Promotions and Visual Campaign Guidelines for political parties participating in the 2025 Anambra State gubernatorial election. 'You may recall that on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, we convened a press conference where we unveiled the official Out-of-Home advertising guidelines, including the stipulated campaign fee of fifty million naira. These guidelines were designed to ensure orderliness, fairness, and aesthetic responsibility throughout the electioneering period. If you recall, we made a promise to update you as we go on with this process. Today's briefing is in keeping to the promise ANSAA made on that occasion. 'Most troubling is a recent incident in Nri, Aniocha Local Government Area, where this political party resorted to violence to obstruct an official ANSAA team on lawful assignment. 'Prior to this, the party had been issued two demand notices within a period of two months and with a two-week compliance window, followed by a legal reminder with an additional one-week timeline. All were ignored. 'On August 1, 2025, after the expiration of our last leash of kindness and amidst the altercation at Nri, the party suddenly rushed in a backdated letter to our office, claiming a dispute over the same campaign fee that other political parties had already paid-clearly an attempt to delay compliance and distract from their unlawful actions. The letter was received, but because it came after our grace period, we could do nothing about it. "Regarding the assault of our staff at Nri, ANSAA has formally reported the incident to the Nigeria Police and will continue to take all lawful steps necessary to uphold the integrity of our regulatory mandate. 'Let me assure all political parties that have decided to obey the law by full compliance that ANSAA will do everything within the law to ensure that their cooperation with the agency is not misplaced. 'All Progressive Congress (APC) is a highly respected political party that has given our country a highly respected president who is both progressive and law-abiding. We are surprised that in Anambra State, the party has fallen into the hands of brigands and deviants who think that civility is a culture for the weak and opt to employ violence and disregard for the law in carrying out their politicking. 'We strongly urge Ndi Anambra and the general public to disregard the disinformation, truth-flipping, and narrative construction being circulated by this political party. It is important that we collectively insist on a level playing field where only law-abiding parties and candidates are considered credible choices in the November gubernatorial polls. 'We call on the press and all well-meaning citizens to bear witness: ANSAA has explored every civil and administrative channel to engage this political party. We are now fully within our legal rights to enforce compliance, and we shall do so with the professionalism that our agency is known for. 'Finally, we repeat that this is a campaign among siblings. It is a campaign to assist Ndi Anambra in fulfilling their civic duty and not a do or die affair. We urge all candidates, their supporters, and the general public to avoid violence, provocation, and any form of unprofessional conduct as it relates to public promotion, advertising, and campaign. Let us approach it in the true spirit of Anambra-with peace, mutual respect, and dignity,' he concluded.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Anambra State Chapter, and made available to Newsmen in Awka. The statement read in part 'Our attention has been drawn to a video making the rounds on the social media concerning the visit of a Celebrity Martin’s Vincent Otse a.k.a VeryDarkMan, over the proposed candle light for our beloved brother Martins Onyekesi, the late CEO of The Fish Magnet. 'Indeed, it is a very sad and pathetic situation we encountered in the unprovoked and brutal killing of the hardworking young man who has formed a great hope for his family, ndi Anambra and Nigerians alike, especially in the area of Food Security; and many other victims of the hydra headed monster that has befallen us. May their great and lovely souls rest in peace; Amen. 'It's our resolve to use this opportunity to emphatically state as follows: Ndi Anambra, both indigenes and residents, regrettably acknowledge the fair share of the National Insecurity in Nigeria and beyond; and we are assiduously working with the appropriate quarters especially State Government and Security Agencies to curb and check the menace of Insecurity in our beloved Anambra State- Light of the Nation. 'As we welcome fellow Nigerians to our peace loving state, especially those who are coming for the candlelight in honor of our beloved Brother Martins Onyekesi, we must admonish everybody in attendance to conduct themselves in peaceful manner as we do not want acts or utterances that can heat up the polity. 'We have intercepted the video of Matthias Vincent Otse a.k.a VeryDarkMan(VDM), telling his fans how to bury him if he comes to Anambra and get killed. We frown at those misguided utterances and hereby strongly admonish him to withdraw such statements. We live here in Anambra state. This is not the first time VDM is coming to Anambra State. In as much as we face peculiar challenges in South East, it is unpatriotic and politically motivated to incite our people and de-market Anambra State and South East with the insinuations and mockery of “sit at home and death”. 'This is an election year, tensions are already high, and we can not sit back and watch politicians use VeryDarkMan to destabilize and provoke unrest in Anambra State. We therefore condemn any form of unguided March in the name of the candlelight procession. This is to ensure adequate security and retain the existing stability in the state. The candlelight procession should be done in an enclosed and protected location in order to maximize impact and serve the purpose. 'Sequel to the above, we call on the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Security Agencies especially the action Commissioner of Police Anambra State, to rise up to the occasion and take responsibility by providing a suitable venue such as Ekwueme Square for the Candlelight procession and also provide adequate Security for all of us that shall attend the event as scheduled. 'In conclusion, security is everybody’s business as no one is immune to insecurity. You are either affected directly or indirectly. Therefore we urge Ndi Anambra, both indigenes and residents, not to play politics with the Security of lives and property, as it is our collective responsibility to instill a stable and better Society that shall be the pride of the black Man. Together, Ala Igbo Shall Prevail,' the statement read.
