The Chairman Anambra State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Barrister Vin-Ifeanyi Ezeaka (Ogbuagu), has suspended the Head of Local Government Administration ( HLGA) Nnewi South LGA and four Directors; HOD Works, HOD Agric, HOD Environment and the Councils Internal Auditor for absenting themselves from duty without permission and inability to effectively manage the 109 Staff of Nnewi South local government council.

In a release from the Information Management and Communications Unit,
Local Government Service Commission, Awka, and signed by DDI/PRO, LGSC, Awka, Agu Chidi, the Commission Chairman, Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka explained that the suspension of the officers followed an On-the-Spot-Check and attendance Monitoring exercise he embarked to Nnewi South on 29th April 2025.

Barrister Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka revealed that as at 11:00 am on 29th April 2025, the suspended officers have not reported to work, and out of the total staff strength of 109 Staff, only 24 workers were present at their duty posts.

The Commission Boss frowned at the level of truancy and lateness in the local government system and enjoined workers to embrace attitudinal change, eschew poor attitude to work and be committed to their Chosen Career to justify their pay.

He warned that henceforth, he shall not hesitate to wield the big stick on erring officers, emphasizing that the Governor has done so much in the state and should be supported and encouraged, adding that the workers owed it a duty to Governor Soludo led administration to be punctual, dutiful, committed and and supportive, even as he showered encomuims (praises) on the Governor, describing him as a go-getter and Godsend to Ndi Anambra..

The Organized Labour in Anambra state led by the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Anambra State Council, Comrade (Sir) Humphrey Emeka Nwafor on May 1st 2025, at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, during this year's Workers' Day Celebration themed "Claiming The Civic Space In The Midst Of Economic Hardship", honoured the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo with the "Workers Beacon Of Hope Award for his sterling performance in governance of the state and for being Workers-friendly Governor.

Speaking shortly before presenting the award of recognition to the Governor at the newly refurbished Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, the organised Labour Leader, Nwafor noted that they were proud to honor Governor Soludo with the "Workers’ Beacon of Hope" award in acknowledgement of his exceptional empathy, dedication, and unwavering support for workers in Anambra State.

Comrade Nwafor on before of others expressed and conveyed their sincere appreciation for Soludo’s prompt and thorough implementation of the 2024 approved minimum wage. While the national benchmark was set at ₦70,000, Soludo generously approved ₦82,000—the highest in the Southeast—and implemented it seamlessly across all sectors without any industrial encumbrance.

He commended Soludo for his visionary leadership and significant efforts to transform Anambra into a hub of economic and infrastructural excellence.

The ICT Agency Boss who stated this while attending the unveiling of a modern healthcare and ICT facility in Obunagu, Awka South, by Chief Onuorah Osonwa affirmed the agency’s mandate to advocate for and support interventions that align with Governor Soludo’s vision of bringing digital tools and knowledge closer to the people—advancing his ‘Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere’ mantra.

Comrade Nwafor who gave the assurance while speaking on their preparedness said a lot of activities were lined up for the celebration, which he said, included Operation Know Your Status (free medical services, test and drugs administration) Talk on how to live healthily by the wife of the Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo (Healthy LivingNonyeSoludo), a Session with Anambra Small Business Agency (ASBA), holding today, 30th April 2025, at NUT House, Awka, even as he said football competition involving many affiliate Unions were played with Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) emerging victorious after defeating Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW) in the final on Monday, 28 April 2025.

'Over 2000 Workers will be present to participate in the exercise. The wife of our Governor is attending as a special guest. She will speak to us today about how to live healthily. A team from Healthy Living will be there to offer free medical checks and checking of vitals. The NLC Boss said the workers would tomorrow honour the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, for his good works in the State, and there would be a Thanksgiving Outing on Sunday, 4th May 2025, to mark the end of this year's celebrations.

Soludo Attends Southeast Traditional Rulers' Council Meeting, Harps On Unity, Collaboration

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has extended warm felicitations to traditional rulers in the Southeast region, emphasizing that collaboration is key to building the South East of their dreams.

In a release signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime and made available to Newsmen in Awka, 'This message was conveyed during a recent meeting of the South East Traditional Rulers' Council aimed at fostering unity and working together towards regional development.

Speaking at the gathering, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State highlighted the importance of each stakeholder playing a vital role in the region's advancement.

'As Governors of the South East, we are working together, and so far, so good," he stated. He urged traditional rulers and other community organizations to collaborate, asserting that their combined efforts could yield significant progress.

The Governor acknowledged the rich customs and traditions unique to the South East zone. "We are as different as we are similar," he remarked, recognizing the diverse cultures within the region while emphasizing the strength that can be found in unity. Reflecting on the profound connection of the Igbo language, Governor Soludo noted, "The Igbo language holds us together, irrespective of the dialects." Theme of This Year’s World Malaria Day, Succinct Reminder Of Shared Responsibility To End Disease - Mrs Soludo

Mrs. Nonye Soludo, wife of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, says the theme of this year’s World Malaria Day: “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite,” is a succinct reminder of the shared responsibility to end the disease.


The Governor’s wife, who stated this while marking the World Malaria Day 2025, called for heightened awareness and collective action to combat the prevalence of malaria across the state and beyond.


She harped on the urgency of addressing the disease, which she said had continued to pose a significant public health challenge in Nigeria and the African region, noting that her address served as both a rallying cry and a testament to ongoing efforts in Anambra State to reduce malaria’s devastating impact.

Citing the World Health Organization’s report, Mrs. Soludo highlighted the grim reality that malaria claims an estimated one life every minute, with the majority of deaths occurring in Africa. “Nigeria is among malaria-endemic countries in Africa,” she said. “Yet the growing threats that come with this dangerous disease are something we can really control through collective actions and sustained efforts.”

As Anambra’s Net Ambassador, Mrs. Soludo emphasized the critical role of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) in preventing malaria. “Sleeping under insecticide-treated nets is still ideal for preventing malaria,” she noted. She revealed that since 2023, her campaign has successfully distributed over 3.8 million free ITNs to households and public health facilities across Anambra State. “It’s a modest effort with massive results,” she added, acknowledging the progress made while stressing the need for continued action.

Mrs. Soludo urged both government and community members to intensify efforts to eradicate malaria. “While the government will continue to improve access to treatment and prevention of the disease, we also have a responsibility to drive community actions and promote common household habits to keep malaria away from our environments,” she said. “The time to start is now. Every action must be urgent.”

The owner of the Industry, Mr. Nwachukwu gave the above reasons during the official launching of Gemstone Table Water Industry stated that the company was not just to create employment and generate revenue, but also to improve health as the machines in the industry are fully automated, even as he explained that their bottles and caps is customized with a technology that ensures that manufacturing date and the other important information are coded, encouraging people to patronize and drink the water with confidence.

The employer of labour revealed that Gemstone Table Water Industry would be producing 60cl, 75cl, 150cl, dispenser bottles and sachet water.

Speaking at the event the Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Honourable Stanley Nkwoka (Ochendo Idemili) announced one year tax waiver to the industry to encourage others to think home and invest and ensure further assistance in the areas that would expand the industry.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the launching, the Chief Supervisor of the industry, Comrade Uche Udego, stressed that the industry has standard laboratory and employed professionals to ensure quality production control.

Following his avowed decision to keep the most populous and densely populated Local Government Area of Anambra State free from crime and criminality, the Mayor of Idemili North Local Government, Honourable Stanley Nkwoka (Ochendo Idemili) on Monday, 21st April 2025, at Uke Cultural & Civic Center (Amanduka) inaugurated Uke Security Committee.

Inaugurating the Committee in the presence of the traditional ruler of Uke, His Royal Highness (Surv.) Charles C Agbala (Igwe Oranyelu III of Uke), the President General of Uke ancient kingdom, Chief Peter Onyejegbu (Ezeani-Ezeaofojulu of Uke), the Council Boss assured Idemili North residents of his determination to reduce crime and crime related matters to the barest minimum.

Chief Nkwoka, popularly known and addressed as Ochendo Idemili, warned that anyone who tries to foment troubles in any of the communities that make up Idemili North or cause a security breach would be severely dealt with.

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has expressed deep sadness at the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis, who departed peacefully on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88.

In his condolence message signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Aburime and made available to Newsmen in Awka, Governor Soludo extended his solemn condolences to the Catholic Church in Anambra State, Nigeria, the Vatican, and the global Christian community.

He said the loss of Pope Francis, a globally respected icon of faith, humility, and compassion, has indeed grieved the hearts of Catholics and all humanity as his lifelong dedication to championing the cause of the poor, fostering interfaith unity, and advocating for peace and justice has left the world a better place.

In his bid to toe the line of the health conscious Mayor of Idemili North, Honourable Stanley Nkwoka (Ochendo Idemili), the Councillor representing Abacha Ward and the Deputy Leader of Idemili North Legislative Council, Honourable Mathieu Obi recently at Abacha Health Centre offered free medical services to over 100 indigenes, Non indigenes and little children alike.

Some of the free services include overall health tests, such as HBP tests, blood sugar test as well as administeration of routine drugs to many sufferers who were present.

According to the health conscious Councillor, 97 persons went through X Ray, and out of these, 97 persons 22 had presumptive cases, and that the result of those cases would go through further examination to determine the true condition of their hearts, promising that a follow-up medication would be administered to them thereafter.

Speaking on what informed his decision to carry out such a capital intensive exercise, Hon. Obi said he was touched and awed by the way and manners the Council Boss, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka is investing in health and wellness related matters and decided to key in and assist in taking healthcare delivery down to his ward, noting that the need for the provision of adequate healthcare can not be overstated.

'The Commissioner of Police Anambra State *CP Ikioye Orutugu _fwc MNIPS PhD today 18th April 2025 commended the Nnewi community for their collaboration with the Police in apprehending an alleged serial rapist Chidiebere Mbene ‘m’ aged 33 years. The suspect is allegedly involved in the murder of one Nwokedi Michael Somtochukwu, a 15-year-old boy in Unubi, Nnewi South Local Government Area, on 15th April 2025. The suspect also allegedly raped the elder sister of the deceased before he fled the scene.

'This development showcases the effectiveness of community policing and the importance of public cooperation in maintaining law and order.

'To this end, the CP has directed the immediate transfer of the Case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a comprehensive investigation. He also notes the command's willingness to continue to leverage on community support to effectively apprehend suspects as well as identify unrepentant criminals in the state,' the statement read.

The Mayor of Idemili North Local Government Area (INLGA), Hon Stanley Nkwoka (Ochendo Idemili) recently addressed the Local Government Service workers under the aegis of ‘Solution Vanguard’ , even as he applauded them for their resolution and strategic plans to vote for Governor Chukwuma Soludo come November 8, 2025 for a second term in office.

Addressing Idemili North LGA workers with the Solution Vanguard State/National team during a strategic meeting at INLGA Secretariat Ogidi, Nkwoka said he was elated that for the first time workers who were known to be apolitical decided to come together without being coerced to speak out.

He said the workers had not only pledged to vote for Soludo who had outshined his predecessors in delivering Good Governance but were willing to go extra mile to compel others to vote him into office for a second term.

He said, 'Workers see themselves as people in the barracks. Soldier go soldier come, barrack remain full. Unlike before, the way it is in your mind because of the way Governor Soludo is working has made you workers organize yourselves to campaign and vote for him.

'For your support to ensure that Prof Chukwuma Soludo retains power, I, Ochendo Idemili, is out to support Solution Vanguard because you have made me glad, and I am so happy.

'Idemili North has resolved that the person we know for November 8, 2025, across all parties is Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

'Two weeks ago, we had the biggest endorsement in Anambra State. It was not a fake endorsement. We had over 60,000 signatures, handwritten endorsement for Governor Soludo in Idemili North.

His Excellency paid off the backlog of unpaid gratuity and pensions that were left there for years by his predecessors before he resumed office. Workers are happy with him, and the LGSC staff came together to ensure they gave him 16,000 votes and above,' said Okoye.

Stakeholders Extol Anambra’s Solution Lens Platform at OGP 2.0 Action Plan Launch

Anambra State's commitment to transparency, citizen participation, and technology-driven governance received a major boost recently, as the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, in collaboration with UNICEF, launched the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Action Plan 2.0.

In a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Angela Nwanodu noted that the major highlight of the event was the sneak preview of the Solution Lens platform — an innovative digital tool developed by the Anambra State ICT Agency and championed by the Ministry to operationalize open governance and enhance citizen engagement.

'Though yet to be officially launched, the platform was presented to stakeholders as a powerful demonstration of how technology is being leveraged under Governor Soludo’s administration to bridge the gap between government and the people. It drew high praise from stakeholders, including UNICEF, civil society organizations, private sector players, and the National OGP Coordinator.

'Described as “open governance made easy” by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, Solution Lens is a citizen engagement platform designed to empower the people. It provides a centralized space for citizens to track government projects, voice their concerns, and engage directly with policymakers. “The goal is to make a real, tangible impact on the lives of citizens,” she emphasized.

In his remarks, the MD/CEO of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, CFA, highlighted that the platform reflects Mr. Governor’s vision of building a smart, livable, and prosperous megacity. He noted that Solution Lens is a user-generated content platform that grows more dynamic and impactful through active citizen participation.

“This platform is the result of many months of dedicated research, strategy sessions, and high-level approvals,” he stated.

“Anambra is among the first states to consolidate all its digital resources into a single unified platform — anambrastate.gov.ng,” Agbata added. “Solution Lens, with its dedicated URL lens.anambrastate.gov.ng, serves as an extension of this central domain. Its true strength lies in the interaction it fosters — the more Ndi Anambra engage, the more powerful and impactful it becomes.”

CFA reaffirmed the Anambra State ICT Agency’s commitment to the state’s ongoing digital transformation. “Our push for OGP 2.0 is powered by technology,” he said. “We understand that without technology, bridging any governance gap in today’s world would be challenging.”

Stakeholders at the event praised the platform’s transparency and interactive features — including real-time access to state projects mapped using GPS, with project details and timelines. These features offer an unprecedented level of visibility and enable citizens to monitor the progress of projects in their communities.

Several stakeholders shared their excitement about the platform’s potential:

Dr. Victor Chima, Social Policy Officer at the UNICEF Enugu Office, commended the Anambra State Government for developing such a laudable platform. He noted that, if properly implemented, Solution Lens could serve as a one-stop hub showcasing all of the state’s achievements. “People can easily see how Anambra is performing — locally, nationally, and globally — all with just a click, without the need for long explanations,” he said.

“Anambra State has not seen anything like this before. The Google Map on Solution Lens shows each individual project, its location, and status. One of the projects a traditional ruler recommended some time ago is already being implemented on the platform,” said Mr. Ezeodili Francis, a private sector representative.

Ugochi Ehiahuruke, Executive Director of the Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC), speaking on behalf of civil society organizations, described the platform as a “charter of demand made easy,” urging citizens to take advantage of it to ensure their needs are captured and to follow up on government interventions.

The National OGP Coordinator, Dr. Gloria Amadi, described Solution Lens as a fantastic “citizens’ feedback mechanism.” She applauded Anambra’s leadership and pledged to spotlight the platform at the national level.

As anticipation builds for the formal launch of the Solution Lens platform, one thing is clear: Anambra is setting the pace for citizen-driven, technology-enabled governance in Nigeria. The state is not just talking open governance — it is living it, digitizing it, and putting power back in the hands of its people.

Acceleration of Anambra's Development: Soludo Signs Six Laws

In a significant move towards advancing development in Anambra State Governor Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has officially signed six new laws aimed at fostering investment and security in the state.

In a release signed and made available to Newsmen, the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Aburime, the signing ceremony took place at the Governor's Lodge in Amawbia, where the Governor was joined by key officials, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, the Majority Leader, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, among others.

'The newly enacted laws encompass a diverse range of areas that reflect the administration's commitment to improving the lives of the citizens.

'Notable among them are the Anambra State Development and Investment Corporation Law, 2025, and the Anambra State Electricity Law, 2025, which are anticipated to bolster the state's economic landscape and energy infrastructure.

'In addition, the Governor approved the Anambra State Homeland Security (Amendment) Law, 2025, aimed at enhancing safety protocols, as well as the Anambra State Herbal Practice Law and the Anambra State Indigenous Traditional Medicine Practices Law, both set for 2024 and 2025 respectively, which seek to integrate traditional healthcare practices into the state's medical framework.

'Lastly, the Anambra State Mission Schools of Nursing and Midwifery (Amendment No. 2) Law, 2025, intends to improve nursing and midwifery education standards within the state.

'During the signing, Governor Soludo praised the collaborative efforts between the executive and the State House of Assembly, emphasizing the positive impact these laws will have on the community. He expressed hope for continued partnership in future legislative endeavors that support the growth and well-being of the Anambra people.

'As these new laws take effect, they represent a step forward in Governor Soludo’s vision for a prosperous and secure Anambra State,' the statement read.
