COOU Boils as Varsity Community Questions Commissioner for Education Involvement In the Election of Senate Representatives to Joint Council/Senate Committee for the Selection of Substantive VC, Accuses Her of Lying Against Governor Soludo, Usurpation of University Senate's Powers

...Describes role as illegal

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State has been thrown into a serious pandemonium and chaos following the alleged involvement of the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Ude in the election of Senate Representatives to Joint Council/Senate Committee for Selection of Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the citadel of learning, even as the University community accused her of lying against the Visitor of the University, Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR.

A source in the institution who spoke on the condition of anonymity stated that the involvement of the Education Commissioner in the exercise clearly showed that she had something up her sleeves, noting that the Madam Commissioner lack the legitimacy to meddle into the affairs of the Senate and processes of selecting a substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Continuing, the source noted that the varsity community had it in good authority that the Governor did not in any way ask her to assume the position she conferred on herself in the exercise.

'We were told that the Governor through the Governing Council Chairman, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, instructed her to come and monitor the election which turned out to be lies. We were terrified with her involvement. She practically usurped the powers of the University Senate. The question in everyone's lips is why would she lie against the Governor. Why would she use the name of the Governor as a cover? Why is she hell-bent on truncating the peace we are enjoying here in the university? Whose interest is she serving? These are questions begging for answers.

'You can see that people are not happy at all. There is a serious problem now in the University. We have had this election before, and it turned out successful. Few individuals went and wrote a petition, claiming that the outcome was marred with irregularities even when over 52 persons came out openly to declare that the process was free, fair, and credible. They went against the majority and acted on the petition of the few individuals. Go to the faculties, departments, offices, administrative blocks, and platforms and see how people are expressing and registrating their displeasure. I am very glad that a brave comrade spoke out, which was purely rape in our citadel, especially at a high level decision making body. We shouldn't allow this to be swept under the carpet knowing fully it is an unhealthy precedent.

'First, it was the announcement directive of a "four-man' Senate electoral committee that was rescinded after interrogations on their legitimacy. Now this? Old or young, senior or junior, male or female, COOU must outlive all of us. The next 25 years of COOU is already looking very interesting,' he concluded.

For another visibly angry concerned member of the University community, 'For the Record. Having entertained many questions on the conduct of the Senate election to the Joint Committee of Council and Senate for the selection of substantive VC for COOU. I have the following issues to address. The role of the Commissioner for Education that doubled as observer and electoral umpire is illegal and unlawful. I am aware that the Governing Council of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University didn't authorise the role played by the Commissioner for Education in the Senate election of Joint Committee. The Commissioner for Education has set a very bad precedence in the Senate of COOU - that her action can not be tolerated in any university senate. The university is governed by its established laws, and that should be respected.

'The Commissioner for Education should explain to the Senate of COOU who sent her to conduct the Senate election on 9th July 2025. Until proven otherwise, I vehemently say that the Visitor of the University, Mr. Governor did not send Commissioner for Education to COOU under any guise whatsoever.

According to another source who also pleaded not to be mentioned, 'I watched with great dismay how the University Senate was raped who neither the University Law nor the Senate Rule empowered to superimpose herself on the university Senate. This is a complete illegality.

'If the Governor sent the Commissioner to conduct the election, it should have been on a white paper from the Government House, and the University Management will be privy to it. There wouldn't have been any need to set up a committee in the first place.

'If the University Council sent the Commissioner, it would amount to an act of interference and meddling into Senate affairs, which the Council doesn't have the rights to do.

'If the Commissioner came in her capacity as the Commissioner for Education, who invited her? She should have stayed and observed and not imposed herself on the Senate

'If the Commissioner came as a Professor of the University, she should be reminded that she is on a leave of absence and can not participate in the Senate decisions. So, on whose authority did she act? This continuous rape of the university by desperate few individuals must stop. We are learning.

For another concerned member, For the Record – In Support of the earlier speakers' Position
Having reviewed the points raised by them regarding the conduct of the Senate election to the Joint Council-Senate Committee for the selection of a substantive Vice-Chancellor for Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), I wish to strongly align myself with the observations and concerns expressed. It is indeed worrisome and irregular that the Commissioner for Education, who had no official mandate from either the Governing Council or the Visitor of the University (the Governor), assumed dual roles as an observer and electoral umpire in such a sensitive internal Senate exercise.

This action is both illegal and unprecedented within the context of university autonomy and governance principles. The following points must be emphasized:

'Breach of Protocol and Established University Laws: COOU, like all other public universities, is guided by its enabling law and internal statutes.

'The Commissioner's interference undermines these structures and violates the institutional integrity of the Senate.

'Lack of Authorization: There is no record or directive from the Governing Council or the Visitor empowering the Commissioner to preside over, supervise, or conduct any Senate election. Her unilateral involvement portrays a disregard for due process.

'Ulterior Motive Suspected: This action suggests a motive beyond observation and has, understandably, generated suspicion and unrest among members of the academic community. It gives the impression of an attempt to influence or control the outcome of a process that should be purely academic and internal.

'Dangerous Precedent: Allowing such interference to go unchallenged sets a dangerous precedent that threatens the autonomy of the university and the academic freedom of its Senate. It is a situation that must be addressed decisively to safeguard the sanctity of our governance systems.

'Clarification Demanded: The Commissioner owes the Senate and the entire University community an explanation of who authorized her involvement. Until proven otherwise, it is proper and responsible to assert that the Visitor did not instruct her to act in such a capacity.

'In conclusion, this issue goes beyond the current election—it is about upholding the rule of law, protecting the independence of university organs, and resisting the politicization of academic governance. I stand with earlier callers in demanding accountability and a reaffirmation of the rightful roles of the Senate and the Council in university affairs.

'This is a bold statement coming from whom we all voted to represent us in Council. If this is a Council position prior to the election, then the commissioner can't be an observer at the same time an umpire.

Summer Program: Project Growth Specialist, Joy Okoye Fixes July 31st to August 30th Date For TeenTech Incubation Summit in Onitsha, Targets Young People

By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu

A People and Project Growth Specialist, Joy Okoye, has fixed July 31st to August 30th for TeenTech Incubation Summit in Onitsha, Anambra State. It is also known as the Summer Program for Teens

Speaking on the fast approaching project, the initiator and the organiser noted that the initiative was borne out of a gap she experienced firsthand:

According to her, 'the lack of exposure and access to real opportunities while growing up in Onitsha. Even though I eventually found my way and discovered what’s possible for young people beyond the norm, I’ve always wished I had those insights earlier.'

'So now, I’m bringing those resources, networks, and exposure back — directly to the teens who need them most. Right now, I’m working on something deeply personal — a summer program for teens in Onitsha called the TeenTech Incubation (TTI) Summit.

While there are various tech programs out there, TTI is different in both structure and delivery. We’re kicking off with a powerful impact-oriented summit, where teens will connect directly with industry founders and professionals. People are already building careers in tech. It’s about showing what’s possible and how digital skills can create real, decent income streams and life opportunities.

'This early exposure is critical. Many teens don’t believe they can succeed through legitimate means and that misconception leads them down dangerous paths.

'But when they see real people making a decent living through tech and innovation, it opens their minds and shifts their outlook.

'After the summit, we move into a hands-on incubation phase. Over the next few weeks, participants will be trained in various digital skill tracks, form teams, and build real-life projects that solve real-world problems — using what they’ve learned.

'The entire program runs from July 31st to August 30th. It’s more than just training — it’s about mindset shifts, mentorship, and building a foundation that helps teens make informed decisions about their future.

'Visit tti.upnestor.org to learn more about this program. It’s crucial to our survival and progress as Africans that we begin to shift from being primarily consumers to becoming creators, contributing and having a growing share in the world market through homegrown innovations that target localised problems. It starts with how we train our young minds.

At the stage we are now, we can't do enough, We can’t afford to do the bare minimum anymore. If A is training, B should train deeper, broader, and better — until our collective impact starts leaving undeniable footprints in the sands of time.

Soludo Led Anambra State Government Deepens Digital Reforms, Eyes Top Ranking in Ease of Doing Business

By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu

Anambra State has reaffirmed its commitment to building a tech-driven and business friendly environment.

This was contained in a release signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Anambra ICT Agency, Angela Nwanodu.

According to the release, 'The State Government led by His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR reiterated the commitment at the maiden State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) technical session and statewide town hall meeting on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, held at the International Conference Center, Awka.

The event formed part of the nationwide tour by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), bringing federal reform champions face-to-face with state officials, private sector leaders, and the business community.

In his remarks, Governor Soludo who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, welcomed the PEBEC team and stakeholders, describing the session as timely and essential.

He stressed that Anambra’s business reforms are deliberate and data-driven, echoing Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR’s belief that “if you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.”

Governor Soludo reaffirmed that although Anambra currently ranks 7th nationally and leads the South East on ease of doing business, the state views reforms as an ongoing, measurable process grounded in technology, planning, and accountability.

Princess Zahra Mustapha Audu, DG of PEBEC, in her goodwill remarks delivered via video, described the SABER programme, a $750 million World Bank-supported initiative, as a transformative partnership co-designed to help states implement global standards and create easier, more transparent business environments.

She stressed that while designing reforms matters, real impact comes from effectively implementing them, with states as the true engines of economic growth.

The State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, in her opening remarks, emphasized that with over 98% of Anambra’s wealth held by the private sector, government reforms must be deliberate and responsive.

She noted that under Governor Soludo’s leadership, Anambra has remained intentional about ensuring businesses face fewer obstacles and enjoy a competitive edge.

During the technical session, PEBEC reform leaders Ohiemi Gabriel, Ifeanyi Icheke, and Oluwatofunmi Odunladi commended Anambra’s reform champions for their consistent efforts in reporting, as well as the state government's resolve which earned the state 7th place nationally and first in the South East in 2021 and 2023.

They encouraged Anambra to deepen its reforms ahead of the next ranking in December 2025, which will spotlight top-performing states and most improved states, alongside tailored recommendations for investors.

The highlight of the event was the panel discussion and town hall meeting anchored by the PEBEC team, featuring members of the State Executive Council as panelists, including the MD/CEO of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, CFA; Commissioners for Industry, Lands, Power and Water Resources; MD of ANSIPPA; and MD of ASBA.

During this session, panelists discussed how technology is central to Anambra’s reform agenda. They spotlighted initiatives like the ANAMGIS (Anambra Geographic Information System), which digitizes land processes; the Grievance Redress Mechanism that swiftly addresses investor concerns; the adoption of the .anambrastate.gov.ng domain to standardize official digital communications and strengthen trust in government services; and the ongoing expansion of fiber ducts to enable 5G connectivity, all reflecting the administration’s “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere” vision.

The conversation also highlighted Solution Lens, a civic engagement platform designed to deepen citizen participation and transparency by allowing residents to track and report on government projects across the state.

Together with strategic projects like road constructions which are deliberate efforts by Governor Soludo to inter- connect Anambra State for easy moving round in doing business.

These reforms aim to enhance transparency, and position Anambra as a smarter, investor-friendly state

As Anambra prepares for the next PEBEC evaluation, government and stakeholders reiterated their resolve to keep reforms measurable, digital-led, and investor-focused

With technology and intentional governance at its heart, Anambra State is strengthening its position as a modern hub where businesses can invest, scale, and thrive.

November 8 Guber Election: Soludo’s Wife Stresses Importance of PVC, Asks Ndi Anambra to Get Theirs

By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu

As the countdown to Anambra State’s gubernatorial election on November 8, 2025, begins, the wife of the state governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo has issued a powerful call to action, urging ndi Anambra to participate actively in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which kicks off this month.

Her passionate appeal comes as preparations intensify across 326 political wards in the state.

In a statement released on July 8, 2025, Dr. Soludo emphasized the importance of the voter registration exercise, describing it as a critical step for all eligible voters to secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

'The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has just officially kicked off the much-awaited Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) for all voting categories in Anambra State,' she said. The exercise, which will run until July 17, will take place daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, including weekends.

Dr. Soludo further highlighted that the CVR is open to those who wish to obtain a new PVC, have changed their place of residence, misplaced or damaged their PVCs, or have yet to collect their cards from previous registration rounds.

She encouraged all categories of voters to seize this “great window” to register, update, or retrieve their voting credentials.

“Don’t let this opportunity pass you by,” she implored. “If you’re currently staying in Anambra State and fall within the voting age, ensure you are not left behind. This is your right and your responsibility.'

The First Lady noted that possessing a PVC is the only legitimate way citizens can express their political will and influence the leadership of the state.

'It is only with your PVC that you can translate that voice into real action. Don’t disenfranchise yourself. Find time to do what’s right. Get that PVC,' she urged with sincerity.

Concluding her statement with a heartfelt prayer, Dr. Nonye Soludo added, 'May Anambra continue to rise.” Her message has since sparked renewed enthusiasm among young and first-time voters as the state inches closer to a highly anticipated gubernatorial election

November 8: Tell Your Neighbour About Solution Group Meets In Awka, Hands Over Flags To LG Coordinators, Decorates Patrons

By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu

One of the most structured and formidable support groups in Anambra State under the aegis of Tell Your Neighbour About Solution (TYNAS) Friday, 4th July 2025 at ASTUC Hall, Old Government House Awka, held a strategic meeting where flags were presented to all the Local government Coordinators of the association.

Handing over the flags to the coordinators shortly after delivering his address, the Convener and the Director General of TYNAS, Chief Sir Emeka Innocent Mbagha, KSM (Osuma Nkpor) assisted by an executive member of ASTUC and the President General of Uke, Chief Peter Onyejegbu (Ezeani-Ezeaofojulu) said TYNAS is a support group specifically designed for the re-election of the hard working Governor of Anambra State, Prof.Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, stating that the association is for serving and former community leaders and that every time they meet in their communities, the association's flag shall be hoisted during the community meetings.

'Community meeting is a meeting of Tell Your Neighbour about Solution. Our neighbours are our brothers and sisters, our villagers, our age grade, our clubs, the non-indigenes in our midst. They are the ones we have chosen to inform about the good work of Mr. Governor of Anambra State who performed exceptionally in his first tenure and that returning him for the second tenure will be for the ultimate good of ndi Anambra State.

'This support group was instinctive out of the desire to provide a platform forcommunity leaders to continue to establish themselves within the party hierarchy and become stakeholders within the ruling party in the state, All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) a party that have metamorphosed into a movement that binds ndi Anambra together.

'When the idea was sold to the former leadership ofASATU, they bought into it and provided the ASATU structure to build TYNAS structure upon. Today, the leadership of TYNAS is built on the community leaders, men, women, and youths, and that has given it the widespread network it has today. We are equally lucky to find men who share in our ideal and have joined us as leaders and patrons.

'We are lucky to have a partnership that works. Our foresight brought a Media guru as our Director of Media that the Government also identified and made him the Honourable Commissioner for Information and communication, Our name speaks volumes in the communication atmosphere and with the commissioner for information as our Patron, our message will reach the furthermost part of Anambra State and beyond.

'Our support group is one of a kind. The relevant persons required to move an organization forward are with us. The erstwhile legislative administrator per excellence and the former Clerk/permanent. Secretary. Anambra State House of Assembly, who has the ears of both former and serving House of assembly legislators, is here as our patron.
'His name Onyemalulie resonates with our desire just as Tell Your Neighbour appeals to the conscience of the people. Our dragnet also caught a mighty philanthropist, a supporter of the masses and a great party statesman who has used his foundation GAF to reach out to uncountable beneficiaries, by extension, all those beneficiaries are members of our support group as their benefactor is our Patron.

Today, we have come to clarify to Ndi Anambra the reason they must not look elsewhere for the Governor of Anambra State because THERE IS NO VACANCY IN AGU AWKA. God endowed him with a gift with which to live his life comfortably but because of his d sire to touch humanity he decided to join politics and Ndi Anambra are the beneficiaries of what God deposited in him.

'His trajectory as a visionary and courageous leader is what has fueled his performance as the Governor of the most endowed State in Nigeria. The staff he recruited in the Central Bank of Nigeria which was done purely onmerit are now the pillars of that Institution, his Consolidation Agenda is still a house hold name in Nigeria, the establishment of African Finance Corporation has his imprimatur in it.
The cashless society we enjoy today was initiated by him. He can only be described as an Eagle (Efficient, Accountable, Goal Focused, Leadership qualities and Effective) that flies when other birds have stopped flying. The Governors performance was overwhelming that a voice from the crowd shouted OLUATUEGWU, which immediately stuck in the vocabulary of ndi Anambra.

'To make sure the name was not lost with passage of time, the Traditional Rulers of ndi Anambra North decided to put a seal on it by conferring on the Governor a chieftaincy title of OLUATUEGWU NDI ANAMBRA, a title he so merited because it takes a lion heart to embark on the game changing and landmark projects he has accomplished. 1. 759 kms of Road Infrastructure, 2.8,115 teachers recruited in Education 3. Youth Empowerment - created over 5000 entrepreneurs through one youth two skills initiative. 4. Health Sector, freeantenatal and child delivery, over 1000 medical professionals recruited, built five brand new hospitals, and renovated all the health centres in the 326 wards ofAnambra state. 5. Digital Economy - made Anambra state the best state in digital,' he concluded.

In his goodwill message, the former Clerk/Permanent Secretary of Anambra State House of Assembly, Chief Pius Udo (Onyemalulie) who was decorated as a patron of TYNAS, said Soludo came prepared for the task, and would help do much more better when re-elected.

'Soludo started with Okpoko, and we all see the difference today. He has done well. He deserved a second term, our Campaign for him is based on conviction and not for benefits,' Chief Udo stated.

Addressing the LG Coordinators, the Commissioner for Information, Anambra State, Dr Law Mefor, said thousands of youths had been trained in digital technology by the Gov. Chukwuma Soludo administration.

The information Commissioner said the government targeted to train one million youths in its digital tribe creation initiative under the Solution Innovation District (SID) programme, noting that the governor was an achiever and global citizen who had exceeded his manifesto through his legacy projects, adding that his Ministry would produce a scorecard flyer for the group to help them go about their campaign activities.

'Soludo administration has trained 60,000 youths trained in digital skills free. This is a training that is valued at an average of N3.5 million per student

'Soludo is not constructing political roads but roads that are designed for 20 years, you do not need to tell lies about Soludo, you do not need propaganda to campaign for him, he is a global product.

'All his achievements are legacy projects, he is implementing free education, free healthcare, these are not in his manifesto and he has done all these without borrowing.

'We will win this election free and fair. The job of TYNAS is going to be at the polling units,' he concluded.

Corroborating the Commissioner's stance, the State Marshal General (SMG), Anambra State Solution Marshal (ASSMAL), Hon. Bar Titus N Akpudo (ichaka -Egbe Eji Gbu Agu) enjoined all those present to stand to be counted, explaining that he can never be bought with money, adding that his support for Soludo remains total.

Installation of Mefor, Pius Udo, a former Clerk of Anambra State House of Assembly and Titus Akpudo, immediate past Chairman of Association of Anambra State Town (ASATU, now, ASTUC), presentation of flags to the LG coordinators formed the highpoints of the occasion.

Responding after she received a souvenir in honor of the deceased player, Onochie, his sister, Miss Ifeoma, expressed their joy at the event.
She said, “We are glad that my brother made a little impact in the little while he stayed on earth. I know that wherever he is now, he is happy.
“We want to also appreciate the management of GameChanger FC for this honor and for keeping to their promise. This is a big honor to our family.
“We pray that the football club will continue to grow from height to height and even beyond the expectations of the owners.”
The memorial matches played during the event saw the Gamechangers FC teams defeat Fortune FC and UNIZIK FC in separate matches.

It is purely Ebonyians versus Ebonyians. Immediately, the incident occurred it was the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, who ordered that deceased be taken home for proper funeral while the injured was taken from Ka ndudi Specialist Hospital, Achina to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka. They have shown appreciable concerns towards the matter. Security agents are also working tirelessly to unravel the mystery behind the heinous crime and to get those who are behind it apprehended.

We are hardworking people. We ask our people to go about their legitimate businesses without fear of molestation or harassment. Security agents are carrying out their investigations. Their findings will be made known soonest. The culprits will equally be made to face the wrath of the law,' the concluded.

ECOWAS/Anambra State Partnership: 200 Youths To Be Trained On TAENPROWIZ Fish Production Business System/Technology

By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu

Two hundred youths in Anambra State are to be trained on the TAENPROWIZ Fish Production Business System and Technology under the second phase of the ECOWAS Commission and the Fisheries and Aquaculture Value Chain Business Development Partnership, otherwise known as the Taenprowiz Production System and Technology Partnership Center, Anambra State anchored by FABDA with legs at the Adazi-Nnukwu Fish Production Village Business franchise and the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam.

The initiative, which is in line with the youth employability program of the ECOWAS Commission and aligned to the Youth friendly environment created by the Anambra State government, aimed at bringing youths into the agricultural businesses, involves the West Africa Secretariat for Ecological and Organic Agriculture (WASEOA) in this second phase, to coordinate some training Centers including the Taenprowiz Production System and Technology Partnership Center, Anambra State, Nigeria.

It also aligns with the mandate of FABDA which is the state Agency overseeing the Fisheries and Aquaculture economy in Anambra State.
In line with Section 5 of FABDA Law, Anambra State through FABDA has set a target to achieve local production of a minimum of 51,000 metric tons of Table Fish per annum to actualize self-sufficiency in Table Fish production.

Addressing a cross-section of key youth leadership across Anambra state in one of the engagement and sensitisation meetings, at the TAENPROWIZ partnership centre in Awka, during a strategic meeting to get their buy-in into the initiative, the Managing Director and CEO of FABDA who is also the Training Co-ordinator, Mr. Emeka Iloghalu said the ECOWAS-sponsored youth training is coming at a time the State Government has put a high premium on human capital and economic development centred on the youths.
Iloghalu said under the 2nd batch of the initiative, the youths will be trained on improved production system for fish called the TAENPROWIZ Fish Production Business System and Technology, and how to apply the model to produce fish in a professional and precise way.

According to him, the granting of the second phase was a result of the significant success recorded in the first phase.

On the expected outcomes from the ECOWAS partnership, the Training Co-ordinator who is also the FABDA boss said it is envisaged that the training Centre and the various sites will become better now than when the ECOWAS Commission support came, and that the youths will emerge from the training successfully trained and equipped with the new technical skills to professionally run Fish businesses.

'It is also expected that some of these youths will go into fish entrepreneurship, while some can work or manage fish establishments for third parties.

'The Commission is looking forward to using the initiative to increase the population of youths within the ECOWAS region who are engaged in the Agribusinesses. This is because the agricultural sector is a strategic sector that has the capacity to create wealth and employment, as well as contribute to solving the food security question in the region,'he said.

Iloghalu noted that before the ECOWAS youth training, the FABDA has been on its mandate to drive and industrialize the Fisheries and Aquaculture economy in Anambra, in line with some of its targets including to achieve 51 million kg of table fish production per annum.
According to him, that is why they are focused on training the youths on Table Fish Production business using the only business 5 for fish production currently, which is the TAENPROWIZ Fish Production Business System and Technology.
With this, he noted, “The state can do massive production of Table Fish at industrial level.

'And as we are doing that, the seed fish component of the value chain will follow it normally, as well as the brood stock production and the processed fish aspect.

'So, it is a strategic way and direction for strengthening the businesses along the fisheries and aquaculture value chain, starting from Anambra State, extending to Southeast, to Nigeria, ECOWAS and Africa at large. So, we may be at the nucleus and pilot stage, but we look forward to getting it strengthened and the techniques multiplied for greater results,' Iloghalu said.

Speaking at the event, the State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Surveyor Ambassador Obi Emeka Chukwudi described agriculture as the way to go, adding that the fisheries and aquaculture area, with its value chain, can be leveraged to empower youths in the state to be self-reliant, as well as empower others.

He extolled the strategic collaborations being explored by the FABDA to get youths in the state to embrace the opportunities in the fisheries area, assuring that the NYCN will mobilize its members across the communities of the state to participate in the training. In NYCN, we are ever-ready to partner with any group or organization with genuine intent to advance the cause of youths.

'With what the FABDA is doing with the ECOWAS commission and the TAENPROWIZ Technology, we are hopeful that in the near future, we will begin to have young people who would have excelled in the fisheries and aquaculture area, and will be willing to support others,' Obi enthused.

In their remarks, the President of the Youth Wing of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Comrade Ken Okoli and the State youth leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Dr Tochukwu Obiadi expressed their solidarity with the initiative, saying that more needs to be done to get the youths adequately empowered.

Under the second phase of the training, the Taenprowiz Fish Production Business System and Technology is evolving to incorporate the Ecological Organic Aquaculture principles to extend to Agroecological production of crops from the nutrients rich Fish wastewater, thereby imbibing the practice of respecting the environment while pursuing food security via promoting food systems with Fish production and Aquaculture as the driver.

The training opportunity is for any youth between the ages of 18 and 35 at 4th of June 2025 and interested to become successful in professional, corporate or personal investments in the Fish business as entrepreneur, investor or worker in the Fish Production and Trading Business.

Endorement: Aguleri Community Disowns Eva Obiano, Says He Is On His Own

The people of Aguleri Community in Anambra East local government area of Anambra state has described the recent support of former governor's younger brother Mr Evaristus to the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu as not the position of the town insisting that he is on his own .

According to the former Political Adviser to the then Governor and former member of the National Assembly Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, the declaration of support to Ukachukwu by Evaristus Obiano do not represent the position of the Aguleri people, adding that he should come straight to state his grouse against Gov Charles Soludo.

Obidigwe also dismissed the claims of Obiano that Soludo did not provide social security to the people of Aguleri contending that the governor has executed quantum and gargantuan projects in the Community which the area had never had since the creation of the old Anambra state.

In a statement by the former Lawmaker , it carpeted the former governor's younger brother for making what he called destructive and undignifiing statements about Soludo noting that he was just a mere Assistant Protocol Officer while his brother was in office and do not only have the capacity and mandate to speak for the people of Aguleri.

"My attention had been drawn to the recent declaration of Mr Evaristus Obiano in support of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu in which he stated that Gov Charles Soludo has not provided basic infrastructure for the people of Aguleri which indeed do not represent the collective position of our people about the governor "

"It is important to note that Mr Evaristus Obiano is a political light weight and our people the Aguleri people know very well that within three years in office Gov Charles Soludo has really shown support to Ndi Aguleri in the area of socioeconomic development"

"It is instructive to note that the hinter land, that is Aguleri Otu never had roads since Adam and Eve was created but today it is witnessing massive road construction to the tune of over N8. 3 billion courtesy of Gov Soludo "

"The people of Aguleri before now had no general hospitals especially the three communities of Aguleri Otu across the Riverine and people cover a distance of 17 km from their homes to Otuocha where one can access medical services a development that Gov Charles Soludo saw the need for the construction of a state of the art General Hospital for the people hence saving them the pains and trouble of going to Otuocha for medical attention "

"It is also warthy of note that the moribund water projects in the area have all been revived by Gov Charles Soludo administration and reticulation have been carried out across all Communities in Otuocha"

"The reticulation cuts across Umuleri, Umu Oba Anam and the electricity project in Aguleri is being given adequate attention"

"If other Communities in Anambra state have this quantum of support by the Governor, Aguleri must be counted first "

"Be informed that the One Youth Two Skills program of Gov Charles Soludo also factored in the youths of Aguleri who are not only gainfully employed but are now employers of labour respectively "

The former Federal Lawmaker and a political heavyweight in Anambra who is an indegene of Aguleri, Hon Obidigwe equally observed that despite all these development Gov Soludo has attracted to Aguleri, that the governor out of his magnanimity appointed a commissioner from Aguleri and several other political appointees who are currently serving in his government, adding that Evaristus Obiano can't use his personal interest against the public interest.

Obidigwe noted that Evaristus Obiano should not because of his selfish interests and unquenchable apatite for pecuniary gains judge the administration of Gov Charles Soludo as not performing.

"We cannot because of someones stomach interest or apatite to judge the governor rather we judge the governor based on projects on ground"

"If there is anything Evaristus Obiano who is a political light weight is demanding from Soludo; he should come out straight and say it which indeed is not the priority of Aguleri people "

"We wish him good luck as he joins the APC because he has no single polling unit where he wins in Aguleri during the elections"

"It is a known fact that he cannot speak for Ndi Aguleri neither can he speak for Obiano his elder brother or Aguleri people in general "

"He just served as a mere Assistant Protocol Officer and the likes of us who served in strong capacity under Obiano administration are solidly behind Gov Charles Soludo"

To this end Obidigwe urged Gov Charles Soludo, Aguleri and Anambra people to discountenance the statements of Evaristus Obiano in support of Ukachukwu insisting that he is not only a political papper weight but a lone ranger who has been neck deep in the acts of political jobbing .

Nov. 8: Runaway From Politicians Without Integrity, Mefor Urges Ndi Anambra

By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu

The Commissioner for Information Anambra State, Dr Law Mefor, has urged Ndi Anambra to steer clear from politicians without integrity, saying that one can not give what he or she does not have.

Mefor who stated this while addressing members of Soludo Sure Victory Movement, Anambra East Local Government Area, led by Hon. Andy Azu Onyeaka, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Awka, recently.

The information Commissioner observed that while integrity is scarce among people seeking elective positions, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo remains a man of integrity who cannot be compared to his major opponents in the forthcoming governorship election.

'When integrity becomes scarce among those seeking office, you should run. Leadership without integrity is a disaster. Governor Soludo's major opponent does not have integrity. That's why he's afraid to put some qualifications in his complementary card for INEC to see.

'Soludo, on the other hand, proudly put there his Bsc (First Class), Msc (First Class), PhD (Best graduating student), Professor of Economics. How do you begin to compare?, Mefor asked.

Dr Mefor, who maintained that Governor Soludo's good works speak for themselves and that his impressive achievements will give him victory in the November polls, urged the group not to relent in their efforts to showcase the Governor's achievements to ensure his resounding victory.

Earlier, the National Coordinator/Founder, Soludo Sure Victory Movement, Hon Andy Azu Onyeaka, expressed appreciation for Governor Soludo's constant engagement with non-indigenes in Anambra State to ensure cordial relationship, adding that they have resolved to bestow on him 'The best Non Indigenes Friendly Governor in Nigeria 2025'.

'We have resolved to sensitise all non- indigenes movements living in Anambra State from 18 years and above on the forthcoming INEC Voter Revision Exercise. The exercise will afford them the opportunity to obtain new INEC Voter's Cards or revalidate their old ones if need be,' he concluded.
