Is pharmacy a graded degree I mean is there first class, second class, etc
Is pharm.D is degree awarded by Nigerian universities and which universities in particular.
What is the difference between pharm.D and B.pharm
Pharmacy degree is declassified.
Yep, the Pharm. D degree is awarded by Nigerian Universities such as Uniben, UI is starting next session, UNN, Unijos. Quite a number of them are starting next session.

The Pharm.D curriculum is more clinically oriented, giving pharmacists the ability to fully maximize their clinical skills. While a B. Pharm holder is addressed as Pharm. Lagbaja, the Pharm.D title goes thus Dr. Bukky. (Sounds good tho wink )

HealthCovid 19: UI Scientists Recommend Euphorbia Hirta Linn. For Relief by Bukkiminat(op): 11:44am On May 02, 2020
Researchers across the world, including the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, have reported extensively on medicinal properties of this humble but wonderful plant. Euphorbia hirta is used in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders (diarrohea, dysentery, intestinal parasitosis, etc.); and bronchial and respiratory diseases (asthma, bronchitis, hay fever, flu etc.). The aqueous extract exhibits anxiolytic, analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory activities. Root decoction of the plant is also beneficial for nursing mothers deficient in milk (galactogogue). The aqueous extract of E. hirta showed antioxidant effect and a free radical scavenging activity. It is used to lower blood pressure, treat athletes foot and dengue fever and for production of blood platelets. It can also be used to relieve anxiety and stress.

In south India, it is used as ear drops, in the treatment of boils, sore and wounds. A decoction of leaves induces milk flow and the leaf chewed with palm kernel for restoration of virility. It is also effective in treating ulcers. The plant is also eaten as vegetables.

In Benin (Nigeria), the plant is pounded, mixed with palm oil and licked to treat any form of cough. Traditionally in Nigeria, a handful (50 gm) of fresh leaves steeped in four cups (one litre) of water, bring to boil, live boiling for 3-4 minutes and taken as tea for 2-3 times a day softens dry cough to release mucus as phlegm, which will clear airways and nasal chambers experienced by someone suffering from chronic flu. If in powder form, steep two teaspoonful in one cup (250 ml) of boiled water, live to extract for 15 minutes and drink 3-5 times a day. It is a powerful herb and must be used with care. It is reported to have anti-fertility activity. Use for short period of time ranging from 1-3 days, and not more than 7 days at a time. If it must be repeated take a 7-day recess. Not recommended for expectant and nursing mothers, and small children.

The various medicinal uses of E. hirta are well documented among human populations in Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Tanzania, Gabon, Congo, Guinea, Liberia and East Africa. Though the plant is reported to have anti-fertility activity, report from Guinea revealed that the plant extract had practically no toxicity towards man and guinea pigs.

The plant may be a handy first-aid treatment as tea for people experiencing dry cough, respiratory failure, fever and diarrohea which are some of the symptoms of COVID-19 infection. Using the plant may thus help the patients to breath with ease and remove the need for a ventilator for mild cases. There is no evidence yet that Euphorbia hirta can cure coronavirus, but it can be useful in mitigating some of the symptoms like fever, cough and respiratory challenges.

A research group in the University of Ibadan is exploring the benefits of Euphorbia hirta and similar plants for the cure of chronic flu and other respiratory diseases including COVID-19. Contributing to the study on medicinal efficacy of the plant in different ways are: Professor Ademola Ladele (Agricultural Extensionist); Professor Rasheed Awodoyin (Weed Ecologist); Professor Olaniyi Babayemi (Animal Scientist), Professor Olapeju Aiyelaagbe (Chemist); Dr Okhiomah A. Abu (Animal Scientist); Dr. Olugbenga AdeOluwa (Organic Agriculturist); Dr Olajumoke Oke Fayinminnu (Toxicologist); Dr Funmilayo Adebiyi (Animal Scientist); Dr Idayat Gbadamosi (Ethnobotanist) and Dr Joseph Badejo (Cardiovascular Pharmacologist).

Excessive urination also known as polyuria, is not enough or a diagnostic tool for diabetes. You can go check your blood glucose level and a single measurement isn't even enough to diagnose diabetes.

HealthNew Survey Results Indicate That Nigeria Has An HIV Prevalence Of 1.4% by Bukkiminat(op): 9:20pm On Mar 14, 2019
Expanded data collection and analysis provides better understanding of HIV epidemic in Nigeria

ABUJA/GENEVA, 14 March 2019—Results released today by the Government of Nigeria indicate a national HIV prevalence in Nigeria of 1.4% among adults aged 15–49 years. Previous estimates had indicated a national HIV prevalence of 2.8%. UNAIDS and the National Agency for the Control of AIDS estimate that there are 1.9 million people living with HIV in Nigeria.

Speaking in Abuja, Nigeria, the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, welcomed the news that there are fewer people living with HIV in the country than previously estimated and launched the Revised National HIV and AIDS Strategic Framework 2019–2021, which will guide the country’s future response to the epidemic. Nigeria has made good progress in scaling up HIV treatment and prevention services in recent years.

"For the first time, the end of AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 is truly in sight for our country,” said H.E. Muhammadu Buhari, President of Nigeria. “I urge all of us not to relent but to increase the momentum. Let us work collectively and push for the last mile.”

The data from the Nigeria National HIV/AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey (NAIIS) are based a revised and enhanced methodology. The survey provides a clearer understanding of Nigeria’s HIV epidemic and shines a light on progress and the remaining gaps and challenges.

The Executive Director of UNAIDS, Michel Sidibé, welcomed the new estimates and said the improved understanding of the country’s HIV epidemic would allow Nigeria to better reach people living with HIV and people at higher risk of acquiring HIV.

“I commend the Government of Nigeria and its partners for conducting this ambitious survey, which provides us with a much better understanding of the country’s HIV epidemic,” said Mr Sidibé. “While it is fantastic news that there are fewer people living with HIV in Nigeria than previously thought, we must not let down our guard. Let us use the results of this survey to better focus our delivery of HIV prevention, treatment and care services to the people in the greatest need and ensure that Nigeria gets on track to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030.”

While Nigeria’s national HIV prevalence is 1.4% among adults aged 15–49 years, women aged 15–49 years are more than twice as likely to be living with HIV than men (1.9% versus 0.9%.) The difference in HIV prevalence between women and men is greatest among younger adults, with young women aged 20–24 years more than three times as likely to be living with HIV as young men in the same age group. Among children aged 0–14 years, HIV prevalence according to the new data is 0.2%. Significant efforts have been made in recent years to stop new HIV infections among children.

CareerRe: Is Education Still The Key by Bukkiminat(f):
Gabispot:
Is education still the key?

I thought it was a simple process, it thought the process to achieving success was: Going to school, ensure you become the best you can be in school, Finish school and then become successful. Of course, that was the key back then, try asking our men of old and they will tell you that is the process. Once you are done with school and you have gotten good grades then you are sure to get a good job. That was what our fathers told us “Education is the best legacy”.

I was in a bus some days back, a public bus to be precise. I thought the well-dressed guy sitting just beside me was also a passenger, I was shocked when he got up and asked us the real passengers for our transport fare. What got my attention wasn’t exactly the fact that he was well dressed, his use of English swept me off balance. Yes, I am not a conductor but I was sure then that if I am to be in a debate with that young man in the bus that morning, a debate which counts base on your fluency in English language, I won’t be worthy to untie the lace of his shoes. Thank God I was to drop at the last bus stop (The point where the bus itself is to stop), I so much longed to speak with this educated conductor. I stylish waited behind like I was looking around for something until the coast was clear before I took my shot. “Good morning” I greeted the young man who was now busy counting the money he had made from the first trip of the day. “Good morning” He greeted me back as he rose his head to stare transiently at me. I paused, I didn’t know how to present my case, I didn’t want to sound rude and I didn’t want him to feel offended. “Are you the conductor to this vehicle?” I blurted out my question. He immediately stopped counting, look up at me and nodded with a smile on his lips. “I have been the conductor for some months now, I can’t just stay idle after my graduation from the university” He told me. The surprising thing was how he maintained the smile on his lips all along. That was it, he is a graduate, a graduate of a prestigious university of our wonderful country. Hmm, that guy I spoke with that morning is someone who had the best legacy “Education”. Didn’t they tell us that education was the key to success? Didn’t they lie to us that if we are educated then we are meant to be successful? Didn’t they paint education to us as the ultimate all? What then are our educated youths doing in the bar every night drinking themselves to stupor due to frustration? What then are our educated youths doing in the police cells? I thought if I am educated then I should be successful. Isn’t education the key anymore? What then is the new key? I think I know it.
Please, let's not confuse schooling with education. We are schooling in Nigeria but not getting educated.
Education definitely opens doors.

Jman06:
So many aspects of pharmacy are still unexplored in Nigeria.

Nigeria still imports about 80% of finished pharmaceutical products and more than 90% of raw materials, yet some people are still confusing themselves.

Many elites still seek where they can get quality pharmaceutical care different from what they get in patent medicine stores.

Many diseases still ravage the world with no drugs to treat them.

Even good medical doctors in hospitals still seek pharmacists with good knowledge of drugs to render quality pharmaceutical services that can help patients get on their feet fast and happy.

The list goes on, but some people would rather allow others confuse them.

A word is enough for the wise
Uncountable words up there.
