I don't think withholding such Info now should cause Him/Her problem in future only if he/she is not planning to change status through them. But if he/she has plan of getting residency through them is better to state it, but it might be use against him/her like have mentioned earlier.... Is just a suggestion and advise for him/she to decline them now and get the Visa approved.

Pls these is just an advise or suggestion..... Best of luck

VeecThorr:

If s/he withholds this information and it's later uncovered, that could be grounds for a refusal. S/he would do well to disclose this.

I will suggest dat u should not state it dat u know anybody in State because dey might think maybe u want to School as means of scape from ur country unless u have gud and strong reason as Home ties.... Best of Luck

Please guys, what is my chance of having my student visa granted if I indicate that I have two relatives (citizens) in the US residing at different states different from where I want to go for schooling.

Does it add any point? Should I include it or not?

MY TRAVEL TRANSCRIPT

Few days to my travelling i had mixed feelings; dunno why but I wasnt happy and at the same time i was having a sweet sensation right inside of me.
Dont let me bore you with irrelevant stories.
Got to Muritala Muhammed 9pm on Aug 5 and i tell you i was shocked o.
naso police dey as me mumu question o. Are you travelling on accompanied i was lie WTF!!! Before i could understand he actually meant 'unaccomplained'. No be small thing o grin grin grin grin English iyaf suffer cheesy
I just dey look like JJC ( first time things). No seats to sit down, the hall was crowded. After standing for like 2 hours, I finally got a table to sit.
people dey sleep but sleep no catch me o. Make i sleep mae person put something inside my bag tufiakwa shocked
Without much ado, check in started 2:00am and it was cool as ah no carry any contraband and i no pay anybody shishi. I made friends with old men; regular travellers i should say and we were talking about Nigeria generally. They complained that the economy hit them so hard that was why they booked royal air maroc.
We boarded one small lane like that about 5:45am and by 6::30am, we bid goodbye to Naija.
I slept throughout the 4 hours journey cos i was so weak. No inflight entertainment, the food was just snacks.
We touched down in Casablanca by 10:30am and we were taken to the Royal Maroc Lounge. Naso my people dey touch base with me o cutemorgan don4ye bukunmy emadapoet etc. I don mae friends for maroc, no time. Naso we dey gist before they come give us one yeye food.
crazy food i should say. I only had the bread and yoghurt. After 15 hours, we got up for another check in; a tighter one i should say before we boarded a bus that took us to one mighty Boeing 777 if im correct. Naso some people dey swear for our politicians o cos Casablanca airport beat all Naija airport and thats not even Maroc's main airport o.
Inside the plane, one arab woman wey no sabi speak english sat on my seat, i had to make do with another seat flanked by one fine ghanian girl.
The plane took off about 4:30 local time and off we go to Amelika. I hardly finished the movie seff,I'm not the film type. I slept lie a baby inside the plane. We were given chicken ,potatoes, yoghurt, chocolate and bread but i didnt take the chocolate.
As we were approaching the US territory, naso one turbulence start o, we had to change course. By 7:30am we landed in JFK and off we went to join the queue. This is my POE transcript
Officer- So youre a student
Me- yeah
After taking my picture and fingerprint, he welcomed me to USA and off i went to claim my bag.
Body just dey sweet me o, i dey tell u. Naso i find myself for Brooklyn chop better Amala and ewedu with turkey grin cheesy
Day 2
We boarded train to greyhound station mehn it was cool o. I just dey struggle to hear those black accents.
My trip was long mehn from New york to New Jersey Delaware Maryland Virginia before we switched buses. Ah just dey sight see o America is beautiful mehn. No over speeding, good roads, everything just dey. I dey follow grandma wey dey beside me talk grin. NIce people everywhere.
On getting to Richmond,VA i thought i missed my bus. I no hear anything dem dey talk atall. I come dey ask questions angry
8:00pm we boarded a bus going to knoxville, TN before i joined another bus going to Cookeville. Na die no be small. I no get $400 for local flight wey i never chop so i was well prepared for the stress.
Got to Cookeville by 8am on sunday. Zt called a cab to pick me up and that was it.

They couldn't have checked my bags for prohibited foodstuffs cos I went for baggage claim after the poe. Wishing u a safe trip in your time.

Alhamdulillahi Rabb ‘l’ A’lameen for safe flight and journey mercies.

Got to MMIA at about 1pm for my 2:30pm flight. Proceeded for immigration checks and that took less than 10 mins. Then the passport and online booking verification before I proceeded to the counter to get my plane ticket and bag claim. Both bags weighed about 47.5kg (46kg is the limit) but the fine Aunty at the counter told me not to worry about it. She checked my booking and said; I can see you checked in online. I told her it’s actually my first time, that I just felt I should try it out ni. Then she told me that was a very nice thing to do. Collected by ticket and luggage claim, bade my family farewell amidst plenty emotions and proceeded to the boarding area.
After all the checks and verification, I proceeded to the plane and the flight took off as scheduled. The inflight entertainment was very dope. We were served twice before we got to Doha. We got to Doha in Qatar around 12am (10pm Nigerian time). No hotel reservation for me, so I had to chill at the airport for my 8hrs lay over. There was free wifi, so I quickly got in touch with some of my ogas to update them.
Boarding started for the flight to Houston around 7am Qatar time. The flight took off around 8am after all checks. We were served thrice this time (na 16hrs flight sha). We were given the custom declaration forms on the plane, and I declared all my declarables eh. Plane landed in IAH around 4pm USA time.
Immediately I touched down at IAH, I sharply connected to the free wifi (make the wifi nor go dey waste). After then came the CBP screening. The queue wasn’t as long as I expected, spent less than 30 mins there.
I got there and handed him my passport and i20.
CBP: Oh, I see, you are a student (takes my finger print and photo)
Me; Yes sir
CBP: Is this your first time?
Me: Yes, it is
CBP: What are you travelling with/Do you have anything to declare?
Me: Passed him my custom declaration form.
CPBP: Went through the form, signs/stamps the form and my passport. Then he told me to have a nice semester.
I proceeded to claim my bags, took me about 30-45mins before I could get my bag (the thing just dey roll ni, it nor dey tire). Then I proceeded to food/luggage declaration area. A woman attended to me.
Her: Good afternoon
Me: Good afternoon ma
Her: Are you travelling with any food material?
Me: I am travelling with fried cassava (passed her my declaration form where I filled in my small garri, egusi, crayfish et al).
Her: Fried cassava?
Me: yes fried cassava. It’s called garri.
Her: You can go. Enjoy your stay in the US.
Me : Thank you maam
Went out through terminal D to meet one of my friends. I met him on my school webpage. He is a Nigerian but resides in Houston. Very nice guy (May God continue to bless him). He dropped me off at Oga Aadeyi’s place. Oga Aadeyi offered to pick me up at the airport oo, I just say make I nor too stress my boss ni (se I wan even enter two moto at once ni grin). I got so comfy at Oga Aadeyi’s that I almost extended my stay in Houston. Chai, oga Aadeyi is too nice abeg. I really appreciate big time boss mi. May God continue to guide your path and protect your ways sir.
Oga Aadeyi dropped me off at Houston greyhound station where I took a bus to Louisiana around 1pm USA time. Got to BTR around 7pm.

Congrats Bro....... Thanks be to God for Successful transcript, Enjoy your stay in Obamaland

My POE transcript as promised...

I appreciate everyone on this thread including obvious deliverance cases(I won't mention name we know them), I have been mulling schooling in the US for a while but it just never felt right until a year ago. It was ultimately this thread that gave me enough 'ginger' to go all the way.

My flight started in Lagos breezed through preliminary checks had a few foodstuffs , I just gave the custom guys 2k I don't have time things got interesting with the NDLEA guys near the boarding gate, those guys were all over me. I went to the Emirates boarding gate 53 or something I don't remember.

Someone asked me how I upgraded to Business class, my mom transferred some of her frequent flyer miles to me with $25/1000miles or something + 200k which is not a bad deal at all.

I got to Dubai and was passed through fast track and proceeded to the Business lounge to chill where it got rather boring, the 8hr 25mins wait was the longest in my life so I got out and found a restaurant to eat, all was well and god until I saw a bill of 300AED , bottom line everything you pay for at Dubai international is expensive down to the USB cord I bought for $28. I wanted to just die.

By the time I got on the Dubai to Chicago flight I was already suffering from flu and sore throat, I could not eat nor drink anything, the only time I ate I could not keep it down so I stuck to just tea and a single cup of wine. We were delayed at O'Hare for like 20 mins before disembarking.

So I just disembarked and joined the not so long line to the CBP.

CBP : Why are you in the United states
GT : For my graduate studies specifically a Masters in Economics at Illinois State University

CBP : Place four fingers on your right hand on the scanner
GT : I did

CBP : (Circled my custom form A and my passport to as admitted) next thing he said I can't confirm from your school officer here you have , wait by that glass my colleague will be here to get you
GT : in my mind (you better don't let the devil use you, blood of Jesus, blood of Jesus grin)

Two mins later a colleague showed up and showed me into a waiting room where I found a lot of people waiting every student I interacted with that was a student at Dubai international so I relaxed. They were calling up people for secondary interview they picked some passports and went to lock it up inside those ones own don be.

Five minutes later my passport was handed to.me signed by DHS and I went to get my back, I got to customs handed in my blue form no one asked me any question about what I was carrying and all.

I took an ATS (airport transit shuttle) to Terminal 1 walked like 15 mins to the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) train for $5 to the Union station from where I trekked to the greyhound station.

This is my first time in the US but as a fairly frequent traveller to the Middle east and Europe I have seen more impressive infrastructure, the infrastructure particularly the bridges I saw were particularly old and rusty

Congrats Bro....... Thanks be to God for Successful transcript even though Evil want to raise head But God cut him Off. Enjoy your stay in Obamaland

Part 2 of the Travel Transcript
First I thank God for a safe trip, it's been God all the way.
So after spending about 12hours at Istanbul checking out all the different flavors of burgers they have, (tried chicken and chips too) and exploiting the WiFi wherever I found it, we boarded at 5:45. Went through normal checks, passport and I-20, (this time it was the big Airbus. The food was on point!) slept, woke up, watched a movie. After 10 long hours, we arrived Washington Dulles. I promptly filled the customs declaration form for all the Naija food I was carrying.
Then stood in line for CBP screening. Was quite busy today, spent like 1hr 30 mins on the queue.

I arrived and handed him my passport and I-20 first
CBP: hello, pls take off your cap
Plauses: sure!
CBP: ok that's you, are you a returning student?
Plauses: No, new student
CBP: okay, where are you going?
Plauses: West Virginia Uni
CBP: I see you're going for graduate studies, did you have your undergraduate here in the states?
Pls uses: No, Nigeria
CBP: so how did you get this admission?
Plauses: was a very competitive process, took standardized tests and applied, went through series of interviews to evaluate academic and professional prowess and they were quite impressed with my credentials because I was offered a full GA.
CBP: oh I see that's good congratulation. So this includes living expenses too?
Plauses: yes it does.
CBP : are you carrying any foodstuff?
Plauses: yes. Mostly dried foods
CBP: do you have any wet foods/liquids?
Plauses: No all dry foodstuff
CBP: how are you getting to Morgantown today?
Plauses: I booked a local flight to WV
CBP : okay great, welcome to America, here's your I-20

I left, went to claim my luggage and ran upstairs for my connecting flight boarding pass. They charged me $30 for each of my boxes because they said I am only allowed my Hand luggage and laptop bag. Every other checked bag would cost $30. So I paid $60. Would have paid more because my boxes were over 50pounds. But the guy asked me to just remove stuff and put inside my hand luggage that he wouldn't weigh that.
Concluded checking in, and the hunt for free wifi commenced,

Congrats Bro........ Enjoy your stay in Obamaland and me Join U soon God Favour Me in my next Journey of Life Amen IJN

Hi Everyone,
I promised to share my transcript here earlier today.
I got to the embassy 5.30am for 6.30am appointment on Wednesday. Cleared at the security, got in to the building at about 6am. VO showed up 6.20 am and the show started.
I was interviewed at Window 5 and I had 3 guys in front of me. The first two guys were denied and the 3rd guy visa was approved. He is very young man; he was accompanied by his mum
Now my turn;
Vo: Pass me your passport
Me: gave him my passport with 1-20, service fee receipt in the middle
VO: What are you going to do in the United States
Me: I want to pursue my PhD degree in Chemistry specializing in Organic Medicinal Chemistry
at UTD
VO: Tell me about the University
Me: UTD is a is a public research university that offers great research opportunities in the field of
Organic medicinal chemistry, especially in drug designing and development. ............. (added other information about the univ data)
VO: What course will you be taking?
Me: At my first year, I will take CHEM 5308: determination of molecular structure to physical
methods, CHEM 5309: Organic Chemistry I, CHEM 5310: Organic Chemistry II, CHEM 5312:
Advance Organic Synthesis, Separation technique
VO: Your Visa is approved, pick up your visa in the next 2 days and gave me info about Form I-20
Me: I smile and said thank you, he smiled back.
I was only asked 3 questions; the whole interview was about 1.30 mins (less than 2 mins) and no document was asked apart from my passport, though I gave him form 1-20 and servic confirmation with my passport

Advice:
Be yourself, be natural and be truthful especially at your interview and when filling your visa application form
Speak up and clearly
Don’t over stress yourself but be prepare for any question, a question may lead to others

Congratulations Bro.......... Sky is ur limit IJN and enjoy ur stay in Obamaland

Whaaaaats up pple,
I wouldn't be doing myself any justice if I don't post my visa interview story! God went in with me and it was a nice and short experience. All glory to God! Then many thanks to as many who posted their various visa experiences here (both good n bad) and then to Walspring, who was always readily available to answer all my silly questions,God bless u big!
I'm a new member n only asked a question here just once and I've never applied for a visa except for SA, but my experience shows that there is a God that answers prayers!
I woke as early as 4am and couldn't sleep any more! Drove into the embassy parking lot around 8:30am and joined the 1st queue and by the 'moving-from-one-seat-to-another' queue, my heart was on fire. Thank God I saw an elderly couple I knew, so I chatted with them and that calmed my nerves then we were called in to join the 'main' queue and so I tried not to listen to other pple's interviews so I was turning around and studying the art work on the wall. Then I turned back abruptly when I heard a 'masters' student answer badly ( as d answer stupid reach, I no fit even remember the question sef), the VO's facial expression was like 'daaaaaaaamn undecided!
My pple, this is how my interview went down;
VO: hello miss Bleep
Me: good morning
VO: can I have your passport and I-20?
Me: passed it to her
(She naaaaa typed for ages and I was getting fidgety)
Then she finally asked,
VO: so you're going to the university of San Francisco?
Me: (didn't hear her well, so I said) sorry?
VO: she repeated herself
Me: yes
VO: what will this course do for you?
Me: it will give me the personal and professional development I need for my career when I return back to the country
Then she looked at me (as I innocent reach)
She put my passport aside and passed me a white form and said many things that my ears didn't let me hear again. My heart was smiling but my face couldn't carry it.
So I said 'ok' but can't recall if I said thank you.
I spoke to a security guard and practically flew away and I kept saying 'God You are good'.

Today, I learnt a lot in just a short experience;
1) TRUST GOD TOTALLY
2) BE YOURSELF
3) KNOW WHY YOU REALLY WANT TO GO ABROAD (whether about the school, course or whatever is taking you there)
4) DONT OVER-THINK IT, LET IT COME NATURALLY AND SPEAK LOUD AND CLEAR.
5) BE AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE YET ELEGANT
6) LASTLY, BE TRUTHFUL ( because somehow the VOs know)
7) DONT LOOK DOWN ON ANYONE (because today like 2 sets of pple that I saw making side comments about others were not granted visa). Well I'm not saying it's a good thing but remember 'karma is a BITCH wink'. Be careful
So peeps I hope I didn't bore you with my story but rather inspired you.

Congratulations........ I tap into this Favour this is real Favour Again...... Greater Heights IJN

Here's my APPROVAL transcript grin
I was getting so nervous when I went in. Had to keep stirring up my faith and reminding God of His words to me. Finally called to window 7.

Me: Good morning sir
VO: Good morning. Can I have your passport and I-20 (handed them over). I can see you are going to Emory university. What will you be studying?
Me: I will be doing a Masters in Public health with a major in International health.
VO: That's a very good school for that course.
Me: Yes it is
VO: I see you're already a doctor.
Me: I am
VO: Did you take the GRE?
Me: Yes I did
VO: Can I see your scores? (handed it to him) Wow. You have impressive scores, congratulations.
Me: Thank you sir
VO: And I can see you applied to some top schools here
Me: Yes. I want a very good education
VO: (laughs) So what made you choose Emory?
Me: During the course of my research, I discovered that Emory has the best global health department in the country. The SPH is involved in a lot of projects that are making waves worldwide. The research interests of the school are targeted mainly towards Infectious diseases control and this is an area I am particularly interested in.
VO: (cuts in) Who will be paying for your studies?
Me: My parents are my sponsors.
VO: What do they do?
Me: They run a company that is involved in handling building contracts and real estate management. They also own a hotel in PH.
VO: Ok. How many rooms are in the hotel
Me: It contains 35 rooms
VO was typing, typing, typing while I was praying in my heart.. lol
VO: OK. Everything seems to be in order. I will be granting your visa. Pick up your passport.... Make sure you travel before your start date... You will need to carry your I-20....
Me: (nodding like agama) Thank you sir. Thank you sir. Thank you sir (collected my white paper)
