No fewer than five persons were reportedly injured as some persons allegedly in the convoy of Senator Ademola Adeleke clashed with opposition party members at the Ede South secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The attack, which happened on Thursday in Ede, led to vandalisation of vehicles and other properties at the APC secretariat in the town.

An APC member, who witnessed the attack, alleged that APC members were at their party secretariat when some individuals in the campaign train of the PDP launched an unprovoked attack on them.

In his words, “We were at our party secretariat when Ademola Adeleke and his team were moving. They stopped and started singing different songs near our party secretariat.

“Later, some guys descended on us and started vandalising our secretariat. Five members of our party were injured during the attack. It was an unprovoked attack on us.


Tajudeen Abiola, who is the Administrative Officer of the APC in the local government, identified two of those injured as Oluogun Kazeem and Bakare Lateef.

Reacting, Oladele Bamiji, the Osun PDP Director of Campaign described the allegations against them as lies.

Bamiji accused the APC of stationing some thugs at their secretariat who threw stones at the moving convoy.

He said the campaign of Ademola Adeleke had been a peaceful one and at no time had anyone been attacked.

“It’s a lie. What happened was that after the visit to the Palace of Timi of Ede, the train was moving to the venue of the campaign and at the APC secretariat, some hoodlums positioned started throwing stones at us.

“Our supporters felt insulted and people around reacted. That’s what happened. No member of the PDP attacked anyone,” he said.

Recall that on Tuesday, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Larooye had threatened to lay curse on individuals who are intent on disrupting the peace of the town and the State.


The monarch, who affirmed that he is a father to all politicians, stated that any politician who visited his palace was welcomed and that he even expected more politicians and political parties to visit his palace.

The royal father, who was visibly angry, was reacting to an attack on the PDP campaign train during a visit to his palace.

You are being alarmist and not putting your education to good use with this lamentation.

In the first place, gas cost has risen astronomically globally since Russia-Ukraine war started. Read up on why it is so.

On your unnecessary dramatics about food, parents still feed their children as no sensible responsible parent will let his or her children go without food because of high gas prices.

For as long as this war continues, gas price will remain high and that is why even Europe has started telling their citizens to cut down on gas usage and switch to alternatives, even EU itself has switched to other energy sources like coal.

If wealthy EU countries can switch to alternatives, that should teach you how to be sensible with your finances too when prices of any commodity is going sky high because of artificial reasons. That is called demand destruction to force price down.

In Nigeria, we can switch to kerosene, coal etc to reduce demand for gas so that those who want to further profiteer from the scarcity can reduce their price.

Sensible parents have since bought stoves and coal pots for now like Europeans in order to wait out this war period and will get back to gas when the price falls.
This is the way out not just lamenting and forming a lamentation group.

Gas itself , due to the deleterious effect of its combustion CO2 emision on our climate, will one day be phased out once we perfect the renewables.

N:B To those 'entitled' ones screaming we have gas in Nigeria, let me remind you that between the gas underground and your kitchen is a lot of billions of USD investments you do not have o and those who made the investment from their hard-earned money can not keep subsidizing your gas consumption endlessly especially when they have willing buyers and international contracts that pay more for this gas in the scarce forex our country currently needs.

Banking on gas subsidy after you enjoy petrol and electricity subsidies that our folks in the villages do not enjoy is an unjust ungodly welfare system you use to kill those poor villagers who are not enjoying your privileges of electricity,petrol subsidies and now gas subsidy but picking your bills , environmental and social costs while you feed fat on resources govt could use to give them basic amenities like pipeborne water; clinics, security, schools, standalone solar generators etc.
Their blood is on your hands if you want to extend your subsidy appetite now to advocating for gas subsidy at their expense.

FG must never subsidize gas. Get creative and responsible. Kill this lazy youth with entitlement mentality of yours.

The Kaduna politician has earned praise after showing his love to his community from a large stash of money he received from presidential hopefuls at the recently concluded national convention of the opposition People’s Democratic Party.

Tanko Rossi Sabo, from the Sanga Local Government Area, told the Peoples Gazette he donated the money to his people because he felt they needed it more.

“I have donated about N13 million to help educate about 150 orphans, cover hospital bills for some elderly people and other donations,” Mr Sabo told The Gazette by phone on Wednesday night. “I am happy to help my people with the fruits of what I have gathered at the Abuja Congress.”

Mr. Sabo was among nearly 800 delegates from across the country certified to attend the PDP special assembly on May 29 that saw Atiku Abubakar become the party’s presidential nominee. It was widely reported that the exercise was roughly monetized by Mr Abubakar, his main challenger Nyesom Wike and 10 other contenders.

He told The Gazette he was being relentlessly courted by numerous aspirants, some of whom offered him hotel accommodation at inflated prices.

“As soon as I arrived in Abuja, some of the aspirants started calling me and some of them gave me N400,000 or N500,000 to stay in any hotel of my choice,” Mr Sabo said. “But I slept in my car instead of looking for a luxurious place to sleep.”

Mr Sabo said the aspirants had been generous with their cash gifts, but added that he was able to return to his constituency with so much money because he was disciplined and strict with his spending during the Congress.

“I’d rather eat noodles and paprika soup than dine at the Hilton for more than N20,000 a plate,” said Mr Sabo, adding that his supporters have praised his thoughtful manner.

Asked whether or not he could be questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for issuing cash received from delegates, an act that is not necessarily illegal but morally reprehensible, Mr Sabo said he had no concerns or apologies for making good on the promise he made to his electorate for the national delegate.

“I’m not afraid of the EFCC because I spent the money raised on my people,” he said. “Will EFCC tell me I haven’t done well paying school fees for orphans and hospital bills for elderly people who have no livelihood?”
