First thing, do not panic & avoid the temptation of trying to use water to put off the fire if you don't want to die. If there is sand around you, use your parker to get sand and pour it on the pot but if there is no sand, do the following.

-look for a way to cover the pot to deprive it of oxygen.
- turn off the gas
-get a wet towel or wet jeans and carry the pot outside to a safe area of the house.
- if the fire is still burning, look for sand.

I would have long shot the pot away with a kick from my leg. turn off the gas, then try to put out the fire in the pot.

This right here is exactly what's wrong with the present generation. There's so many what ifs. What if the car in question was not his to begin with? What if the brakes were intact but they'd still stubbornly refused to heed his advice? What if they'd bashed the car and it wasn't his? Your kids rebelling against you and questioning your every instruction is not wisdom. It is what a rude and not properly raised kid would do.
