I'd rather take advice from someone who has gone through the journey I just started.

For some time now my new neighbours who stay
across the street have been coming to ask me for
their football which they often kick over to our compound.

In fact yesterday when I saw it I came out of my compound
and threw it over their fence myself without their asking.

Before now they'd once come 3 days after to ask for it
as if they were afraid to come the day it happened,
not knowing that I didn't even know it had entered our compound.

The first time it happened I cautioned them that there are
cars, windows, roofs and other delicate things within our
compound that they must be careful about.

One of the guys living in our compound once threw a
heavy object towards the window and broke it
He had to replace it.

I'm not hoping for any negative circumstance but what
would you advice that I do next time their ball comes
into our compound?

I don't want anything to be destroyed first before
this frequent happening is stopped.

When I stayed in my uncle's house in Gbagada way back
he never agreed to throw the balls back but instead tore them.
I used to throw them because I felt it wasn't done deliberately.
But sadly it didn't go well because my uncle had about 3 cars
parked inside the already tight compound.

What would you do?

I like this spirit. Instead of just asking for handout and free money that can't solve real problems you are seeking patronage of your business so you get money for yourself and capital for furthering your business.
Kudos, I pray you get patronage.

How lack of Judicial Autonomy affects the common man

1. It helps to devalue Nigerian courts. Investors insist on inserting foreign jurisdictions in arbitration clauses as loci for resolution of business disputes.

2. Investors insist on clauses that will take all forms of dispute resolution outside Nigerian courts so that they won't hire Nigerian lawyers.

3. Judges adjudicate with fear with respect to any case involving the government, ministries, departments and agencies due to arm-twisting and undue interference.

4. Judges work hard to please the Government so that the Governors will agree to release budget votes to the Judiciary.

5. Court orders are not effectively enforced against the Government thereby turning the Government to a Leviathan.

6. Having captured the Legislature and the Judiciary, the Governor becomes the sole administrator of his State, acting with impunity and above the rule of law.

7. Democracy loses its checks and balances, cascading to authoritarianism, then to totalitarianism, which blossoms to full dictatorship with time.

8. The resultant is that institutions are personalised while the Judiciary becomes aristocratic with their key officials being those having consanguineous relationship with politicians.

9. They stifle professionalism, human rights and good governance.
