Edo people Edo north, central and south I'm sorry what I want to say is that are there Edos owning cement and mining companies in Sokoto, Zamfara or Yobe? Please tell me if there are indigenous Cement Companies in that Okpella? Or the whole state? Go to the West and see whether those mining companies are not owned by Yorubas. On that very road that leads to Abuja from Auchi you will see the so called state owned company lying in ruins and closed down! The once popular Okpella Cement Company! You allow non-indigenes from the North (the entire natural mines in Edo north, Aduwawa and Ibiwe) to do business and drive your people home lazily collecting penny penny as rent until they will even buy up the places like BUA, Dangote and Chinese companies have done. You allow non-indigenes from the West (the entire Usen, Owena Basin, Edo Seefor, Yoruba street, Owan and co) to do business and drive your people ignorantly and desperately to Italy and Holland that there is money there when other Nigerians are seeing money in Edo. You allow non-indegenes from the East (the entire Agbor road, Mission, Forestry, Uromi, and co) to do business and drive your people to sell their inheritance and father's properties just because they want to draw tattoo, pierce their ears, bleach their skins, taint their hairs and drive venza and spend change and guzzle in clubs. Edo people in all senatorial districts rise up and help yourselves. Your cases are too many at Alagbon and Police Headquarters Louis Edet House. Your people are presumed guilty before proving their innocence. Your people are known as default prostitutes everywhere even in NYSC camps and Church camps until they prove their purity of mind and body. Your people are referred to as cultists even when the once most intelligent family in the UK was a Bini family. Your people are seen as lazy even by your neighbours in Delta, Ondo and Kogi. What a time with the crisis on going in his village. As politicians would say, his passing was at a time when the nation needed him most in trying to find the final solution to the crisis rocking the people of the 2 communities, to which he belonged to one, Abba. I must commend Gov Akeredolu and his media team. I say this as an advice to Gov Obaseki and his media team. These 2 governors are up for elections this year and you can see the difference in their public image. While every thread that hits NL and front page about Ondo state Is positive and shed in good light for the governor, Every thread emanating from Edo and about Edo are negative and In bad light for the governor and indeed the whole state. People always say that the Yorubas have the media and know how to spin it But did that stop other regions of Nigeria from learning this and applying it For their good? Even those from Edo state on this site are not helping themselves Because many people are not from Edo or staying in any part of the state But are relying of those of you there, especially the indigenes. Instead the comments are vile, lopsided and embarrassing to the state. Some people have accused the Democrats in the US of sending that police officer To kill George Floyd and cause the protests just to smear Trump and his reelection bid. Whether that is true or not one must admit that the Democrats also have the media In the US and are using it to their advantage. Inasmuch as I won't support media propaganda, lies, inflammatory reports and repeated pictures and achievements, I would seriously advice the Edo state governor, his Media team and the Edos here on NL to put their works and state out there and let people see their positive sides. Too many terrible stories and news coming from Edo, it's people and the coming elections. Thankfully Ondo and Edo are two states I know well and I wish them the best. Not from neither. Friends, I know the way issues usually come up like a volcanic eruption and die down like fire from match sticks. But I want to plead with us that we must not let this movement, drive, zeal and interest go, wane or die. Besides the hash tags, walks, awareness campaigns and all, let us keep the conversation going and ensure that rape, defilement and all sorts of evils in the society do not continue, increase or become the norm. Do you know that with the proliferation of rape cases, past experiences and defilement people can become numb, indifferent and insensitive. Hmm Chatflick on behalf of all Nairaland members please extend our heartfelt comfort to your neighbours oh. But why will someone inflict emotional trauma on an entire family just because of money? That energy they had to destroy a fence to enter the compound can't they channel it to business, farming, hunting antelope or other honourable jobs? The thing is that when they catch all these people they always look haggard and you wonder where the ransome money is going to? Boycott activities and things? Do candle lights? See this girl was raped on her way to Islamiaya not ones but every time she was going and now this man is back on the streets walking freely. Even if he is innocent is that how he would walk knowing that the spotlight is already on him? I've travelled as far as Abuja with one en route Maiduguri, he freely shared his story with us and turned out to be my statesman. Also my friends who school, work and frequent those 3 states will tell you what's up. I stayed in the north and ran away not out of fear but anger, anger that I'll support reprisal and speak out openly (stubborn like that). The same way my eldest sister served in Yobe and ran away. I'm not saying GEJ is better, I'm saying there's no difference. The media just kept churning out negative news to disparage GEJ's effort and now most media hide the atrocities in that area to make GMB look like he's making impact. I'm truly happy with and for Nigeria But do you know Russia recently lost a helicopter and it's 4 crew members? Why am I saying this, We spend so much on a helicopter that can be brought down on its first outing but fail to see the end of a WAR that could have been dealt with with better ways since 2006, 2010 and all throughout GEJ'S tenure. Now GEJ wanted to negotiate with BH boys and they named Buhari as one person/emissary they'd respect and listen to. Fast forward to 2020 Buhari has been in charge for over 5 years without any visible difference between himself and GEJ, even while the later has had no military experience and had to rely on the technical and expert advice from the entire military and NAS. I kid you not this Tucano while cool will never solve our problem with BH. We know but we feign loyalty to Buhari as though he's the best thing after sliced bread and blueband. Our security is in a deep pit (its not well with our security, pun intended between pit and well) that we need strong able hands to pull it out firmly but gently. Unless the country does not have NUC like Nigeria. If there are quack universities they ought to have been closed down. But do you know even in Nigeria there are quack universities? Some owned by big men or religious bodies, but not accredited in any course? If the university in Cotonou is standard and reputable then I commend the man for awarding scholarships. It's just a way of appreciating and reciprocating their honourary award. Why do you think some universities award such to popular people? It's to bring attention and investment to their citadels. I remember after Fashola was awarded in one federal institution, barely a week (call it coincidence or whatever) but the road right in front of the university was resurfaced and repaired. His visit probably brought his attention to the federal road which runs in front of the university and he helped as a Minister. Some of you may not know but in some private universities NDDC sent some beneficiaries there and paid their fees (exhorbitant). By so doing NDDC brought more students and paid, where private individuals might have found it hard to pay, NDDC paid and brought revenue to the school. Many more cases. But my important questions are these- 1) why is FFK personal matter on his twitter now our business or for public knowledge? 2) why do trolls always think they have a say in people's personal lives and decisions? It's like if I decide to dye my hair all white then someone will tell me no that I'm not yet 60 like how is that your concern? Trolls are not good critics or concerned citizens.
