Family / Re: Why Do Men Lose Interest In Their Wives After Few Years In Marriage? by Bwoodlt: 9:25pm On May 23, 2020
fadah68:

Marrying the wrong person

When you're young, check your motives for marrying. Don't marry to copy your peers, or for social standing or out of pressure. Marry for love and companionship, marry the right person, marry your best friend. For if you marry the wrong person or for the wrong reasons, you will have to put up with that person the rest of your life. Things might get worse between you two; then depression, physical abuse, affairs, pain, shame, court cases, bitterness will define your mid-life years all because you chose the wrong one. Things will get worse when children are involved. Make the right choice of a spouse when you are young.

Nailed it!

To add to the above:

- Low self-esteem on both sides
- Extreme introvert

Our next breakthrough is just at the expense of us taking that risk! Trust me, it always get better! I can tell Op wouldn't regret the decision to forge ahead! I'll take the UK scholarship! Once you're done with your MSc in the UK, you can expect up to 6-7X of what you currently get on a monthly basis! Trust God, He's going to lead you right!

You simply watch live services on the mobile app. And you're considered part of the service. Mobile audience counts are taken. When you say in-person interactions with members, then yes otherwise it really doesn't / shouldn't matter.

Thank you for the courtesy and civility of your argument. The world would be a more interesting place if people with different ideas, religion and political orientation can live together and exchange ideas without fear or intimidation.

I take this tithe issue seriously because I feel the religious elite are exploiting the poor masses to enrich themselves. The world is skewed in such a way that the rich need to exploit the poor to keep and maintain their riches. This is what is obtained In the political, economic and even the religious arena. This is the same reason 1% of the world population holds 50% of the wealth in the world.

There is no reason to appreciate a motivational speaker you already paid for his books, tickets and tapes, by further giving him your money, else we would seek and pay money to all the authors of books I used in school to acquire knowledge and pass exams. I think the reason you guys appreciate your author pastor is because his books mandate you dash him ( he will say God) money to access the gains of his book.

This statement is faulty in so many ramifications;

First calling anyone but God your father is not biblical;

Then your pastor is not to feed your spiritually as your pastor is no higher than you on the spiritual scale;

Like I previously said, to each his own. I'm not really interested in going over tithe and offering argument or attempt to provide a counterargument on the highlighted. I understand this is quite a sensitive area, as a result, i'll lay this to rest here. I must appreciate the time, have learnt a thing or two and like you said, its important to have diverse viewpoints - thats what brings about growth! Again, thank you for sharing! Hope to connect soon.

He became a billionaire because people bought his book, read the book and gained useful knowledge and then the people dashed him money in appreciation. Even my 6 yr old would not believe that rubbish.

I do not want to boast but do you know how many people I have helped and ended up paying me back with wickedness. I have housed and fed someone for 2 years (I even helped him set up a business). At the ended of the day I became his enermy.

Most Nigerians do not show appreciation for good done to them and lots pay back with evil, and this even run within families. I know people who help family members become successful, at the end of the day they do not only fail to show appreciation, they go on to repay with wickedness.

All you guys that are ready to submit your whole savings and probably your life too to your pastor do so because of indoctrination and fear. You have been so indoctrinated that you fear contradicting or disobeying your pastor, due to the consequences of hell, misfortune or death.

I completely understand and respect your viewpoint Sir. Again, to each, his own. So rather than prolonging this, I'll just keep it simple. Its not a question of fear or indoctrination, Its only morally right that you appreciate someone/people you benefit tremendously from. If you are to attend a motivational speaking event, you pay for tickets, buy tapes and so on. Now, your pastor feed you spiritually with the word of God, inspire and motivate you, serve as a spiritual father e.t.c, its even biblical that you appreciate him. Not to mention when you benefit tremendously from his published books and other materials. Hate doesn't have a place in our society, regardless of how the world pay us back, we are still to be that good, that 'salt' of the world. To help make the world a better place.

Thanks for your response Sir.

How does he make his money?

He doesn't claim the proceeds if his books;
He doesn't spend the tithes of members;
He doesn't have a day job as far as I can tell;

So how exactly does he make his plenty money? He is one of the richest pastors o!

I have never drawn a dime from my books once-we only feed from the testimonies that come in. See the bolded part. Lets not forget reading books expands the mind and opens ones eyes to possibilities. If as a result of his book, you executed some of the instructions and that transformed your entire life and made you a better man, its only reasonable that you look for him and bless him in return, or at least some would do. Its a simple logic. Here we are talking of a man who's written more than 100 books. At least, I know the sort of relationship I personally have with my pastor.

Religion / Tithing - Daddy Freeze's Fallacies by Bwoodlt: 12:01pm On Nov 24, 2017
It's important that we understand the scriptures particularly in the area of tithing which has brought so much confusion. To begin with, beside Deuteronomy 12, 14 and 26, kindly reference any verse in the old and new testament where it was instructed to eat your tithe...

There were practises in the old testament that became obsolete as a result of Jesus’s death that we no longer engage in. Let me briefly mention a few:

1. According to Hebrews 10:1-4, Animal sacrifices served as reminders of sin, but became obsolete in the new testament.

For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? 3 But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

Hebrews 10:19-25, then says:

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

2. God commanded the Israelites to kill Passover lambs in Exodus 12:1-8. This ritual was to be repeated every year according to V24-27. But today, we no longer observe this instructions.

Now to tithing according to the old testament.

a) Leviticus 27:30 : “Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord's; it is holy to the Lord”.
b) Numbers 18:21 : “To the Levites I have given every tithe in Israel for an inheritance, in return for their service that they do, their service in the tent of meeting”, I believe tent of meeting is now what we refer to as Church.

(Thanks for the Holy Spirit - the bible didn’t record Pastors in the old testament until the new testament where in...
1 Corinthians 12: 4-11 - 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as (ESV) ).

c) Nehemiah 10:37 reads - and to bring the first of our dough, and our contributions, the fruit of every tree, the wine and the oil, to the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and to bring to the Levites the tithes from our ground, for it is the Levites who collect the tithes in all our towns where we labor.
Kindly take note of the bolded.

…and many others I won’t touch on because this post is becoming lengthy.

To conclude now and say because there are no Levites in the land, no one should receive nor pay tithe is canal. It shows you don’t read, meditate on the word of God. Most importantly, it shows lack of the Holy Spirit. I’ll let you conclude from reading those verses.

Quickly, let me referenced a few verses in the new testament where Jesus talked about tithing.

1. Matthew 23:23. Here Jesus mentioned tithe, in addition, He emphasised to the Phrisees that despite you paying tithe, woe to you that you have neglected the weightier matters… Jesus was affirming to the fact that paying tithe is important, but that there are more of great importance i.e justice, mercy and faithfulness.
2. Like 11:42. - “But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others."
3 Please also consider these verses:

Mark 12:17 - Jesus gave a clear instructions. Pay your taxes to your government and give to God what belongs to Him! Its that simple!
1 Corinthians 1:9 - I know you got this one!
2 Corinthians 9:6 - Talks about sowing.
Matthew 6: 1 - Men of God are not meant to go on National TV discussing all their charitable deeds. Its biblical. The fact you don't know about it doesn't mean they are not engaging in such deeds.
Luke 6:38 - In the area of giving.

I’ll just stop here. I sincerely encourage you, please go to the Holy Spirit and ask him these things. It is foolishness for someone to come on a social platform and say Jesus never mention tithe or tithing - And that it should be eaten. And you should take your wine to the presence of God and drink. Its all fallacies!

As the song says:
Read your bible,
pray every day x2
Read your bible
pray every day
If you want to grow.

We definitely need a `downvote` button. For every >=100 downvotes, the individual should be banned for at least 30 business days. That should allow some people have a rethink before posting any primitive comments.

Like others rightly pointed, no guns were put to your head to pay tithe. If you don't want to pay, don't! Infact, if you insist on not going to church because you see pastors ride in private jets, so be it!

Your faith, your cup of coffee!!!

I've seen this guy at Starbucks in Marin City several times. Every time I’d see him I'd tell myself that I would take him to lunch but always found an excuse not to. Today was different. It might have been selfish but I was lonely. I didn't want to spend the whole day alone. I walked up to him, put my hand on his shoulder and said “ do you want to have lunch with me?”

Tarec Atkinson was born and raised in Jamaica. When he was a kid, he dreamt of being a famous futbol player. He was recruited to play in school but never got the opportunity because of some trouble he got in as a teenager. He moved to the states 8 years ago and has spent the last 12 months living in a tent by the side of the freeway. Tarec goes days without eating, sometimes living off of the berries he picks, he spends 90% of his time alone and has no friends and no family in the states.

After hearing it had been a month since he bathed, I brought him back to my apartment so he could enjoy a hot shower. Because of all these hardships, trying to get a job is impossible. How can you fill out an application when you haven't eaten in days? I told Tarec that I would drive around with him next week and help him fill out applications and even speak on his behalf to help him land a job so he can get back on his feet. We agreed to meet that Friday at 9:30 AM at Starbucks.

If we were going to make this happen, I knew we had Tarec some new clothes. We stopped at Ross so he could pick out a shirt and some slacks. I was blown away at the immediate change in his demeanor. His smile was radiant, he stood up straighter, and even walked with a swagger.

I couldn’t convince him to tuck in his shirt. I guess you win some and you lose some haha.

Next step was to hit the streets. We spent the next two days going door to door to see who was hiring. We went to Walgreens, CVS, Safeway, Home Depot, Molly Stones, and Starbucks just to name a few. I would walk in with him so he knew he wasn’t alone. It can be overwhelming to walk into a business and ask for a job. I was very proud of him. We had a few positive responses but the majority of business’s told us that applications were submitted online. Easy enough right?

Wrong.

Tarec doesn’t have a computer. So we went to the local library and began filling out applications. And let me tell you something. We take our computer literacy for granted. Watching him struggle to fill out an application put so much into perspective for me. Some people judge our homeless. We’ve all heard someone say “why don’t they just get a job?” or “they’re lazy”. I saw firsthand how the “system” is set up to fail people like Tarec. There is no way he would have been able to do any of this without my help. Just like there are many things in my life I have needed someone to help me overcome an obstacle. We all need a little help.

After week of phone interviews Tarec landed an in person interview at Safeway. I remember driving to Safeway being nervous. I looked over to him and asked how he was feeling. He looked back at me and said “I got this”. I believed him.

I dropped him off, wished him luck and waited. 20 minutes later, I see him walk out of Safeway with a big smile and a thumbs up. I let out a Rick Flair sounding “WOO!”. We had accomplished a lot together in two weeks. It was an incredible moment.

Obviously we had to celebrate with a little ice cream smiley

Like we all are, Tarec is searching for a purpose in life. He yearns for happiness. He craves for a woman to love and to feel the love from a woman. He wants to create a better life for himself so he could one day have a family and stability. He is just like you and me.

My hope in sharing this story is that it will inspire others to spread LOVE. We all need help in one way or another. Sometimes all someone needs is a friend. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

So damn easy to pass blame and revert to name calling, who knows what this man had to endure... And according to the Bible, not a single human is beyond temptations/trials/tribulations regardless of your status or faith in Christ!

Its quite unfortunate how some people will rather not see anything positive in the presidency. Why must we fault the president for every misfortune people caused themselves?!

I’m not even from the South, but have got friends around me benefiting from scholarship and sponsorship opportunities provided to South indigenes.

These ladies chose their path. Jonathan didn’t choose for them - We should be more realistic and put ourselves in his shoes. I know we can all promise heaven and earth what we’ll do if we get to that office, but I’m sure its going to be a different ball game when/if given the opportunity.

I’m not equating Jonathan’s performance with perfection, but lets encourage, support and pray for our leaders. Enough cursing, bashing and negativity.

Business / Technology Entrepreneurs? Let's Share What We've Been Up To by Bwoodlt: 2:09pm On Jul 29, 2014
All,

I thought I'd create this to allow us share what we've been working on, share achievement so far and to learn & grow together. Let start with an introduction of who we are and what we've been working on e.g enterprise utilities, SAS, plugins, hacks or consumer services. I'll begin:

I'm an aspiring entrepreneur, software engineer. I code mostly Mongo, Express JS, Angular JS and NodeJS, usually referred to as the MEAN framework. I recently launched Bhooce not long ago (which is being beta tested) with the aim of competing with one of the big guys in the tech support market. We've started getting traction (about 80 unique visitors daily) and just in the process of implementing card processing features to allow us charge recurring payments e.t.c. Attended Startup School organised by Y Combinator (Paul Graham) and currently working towards Y Combinator's Startup Program in Mountain View, California.

I'll make it short for now, lets see how we get on..
