Romance / Re: Ridiculous Misconceptions And Assumptions About Women. by bymigokeph: 8:09am On Mar 23, 2022
Animegirl:
As a lady, I know all too well that many men out there believe some ridiculous shit about us ladies.

1. Women are more emotional and dramatic than men. Men have gotten the bad rap that we are overly emotional (nearly always blamed on hormones!) and can't lead under pressure. What’s ironic about this belief is that when a man slams the table with his hand or raises his voice, it’s somehow perceived as strong and powerful, not emotional. If a woman acted in the same manner, she would be perceived as “emotional” or “a piece of work.”

2.Women don’t support other women. While I don’t think catty behavior between women in the workplace is as prevalent as people often make it out to be, there may sometimes be a grain of truth to it. Because many of us work in male-dominated organizations, there are fewer slots for women to get ahead and competition is fierce.

3.Most men think we want to see their big gbola. No woman ever wants random d*ick picture. Many men are guity of this. It won't generate a reply at any given time, if it's sent inconsequentially. You will be blocked and reported because no woman wants to see unwanted penis pictures.

4. She Asked For It? With the current prevalent rape-culture in society, I've been hearing a lot of 'she asked for it'. What does that even mean? If I am wearing something that's not to your liking or if I go out to party with boys, I asked to get sexually molested or raped? That's the most disturbing misconception I've come across. sad undecided

5.Not all of us are Gold-diggers or useless. Some of us, have serious big dreams and we don't want to be dependent on someone else’s success or bank balance to get what we want. We want to have our own career and success too. Funny, how men still get intimidated by independent successful women. Truly, I say unto you "men are confuse set of beings". angry

6. If you use your vagina too much, it’ll get “loose.” No penis, toy, hand, or even baby will stretch your vagina permanently. It might adjust to accommodate what’s coming in (or, in the case of childbirth, out), but it’ll bounce back. kiss

7. Once a woman clock 30, she is evening newspaper, pls what is the meaning of this?

Nigeria men stop the misconceptions/assumptions about women, we are not the cause of your frustrations.

How old are you? I asked because your ages has alot to play as to how true your assumptions are.

Apple grows in Nigeria. In Degema, DELGA, Rivers State, apple grows. There are a lot of apple trees owned in people's backyards. However, like typical Nigerians they haven't seen the commercial importance of want they own at their backyard.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: My Experience With The Wife Of A Major In The Nigerian Army by bymigokeph: 9:16am On Sep 28, 2021

Lindner:
Long story!!

In an interview, I was asked to narrate a really tensed sitiation and how I navigated it.

I remembered my NYSC days, I lived inside Letmauck Cantonement, Mokola Barracks, Ibadan. Year was 2008.

The wife of an Army Officer( a Major) hired me to tutor their three young kids after school. Unknown to me, it was the woman that needed tutoring on how to read English(she couldn't read nor write). She spoke only pidgin.

We agreed the fees (weekly), and I started. She would later open up to me that she needed tutoring as well. For a relatively long time, I didnt meet the Major himself. I would have left before he returned from work. I was a teacher at St Luis Grammar school just behind the barracks.

Long story short, I started teaching the woman too after she increased my weekly fee. But I noticed the woman would rather gist with me than learn. Being a student of emotional intelligence myself, I reckoned she needed someone to gist with in that ghostly environment like the Officer's Quaters. A full time house wife and in that environment. The other end of the barrack where soldiers ans corpers live was more fun and populated . As long as I was paid, we would gist all afternoon. We soon became friends. I even stopped teaching the kids. They were super sharp, intelligent, restless and troublesome. But every Friday, she never missed my payment.

One faithful Friday afternoon, the Major came home early, that was the first time I ever saw his face. I rightly assumed all the money I was being handsomely paid came from him since the wife was a full house wife.

I stood up to greet him but I couldn't tell if he was angry, sad or just being his military self. He didn't bother to respond, he just went upstairs. His wife followed him immediately.

After about 15 minutes, he came back to join me. He asked how much I was being paid, I told him. He asked if his wife mentioned why she needed to learn how to read, I told him I assumed it was for self improvement. Meanwhile, I had been collecting money weekly for several weeks and this woman could not read jack. We would rather chat, gist and laugh.

The Major went to the TV area and gave me a card, it was their wedding invitation card in 2 weeks time. He mentioned that they never got married before the kids. In short, at the wedding, the woman would be required to read a long vow or something like that. It was a Methodist or Anglican church along Bodija.

He said, given his status both in the church and in the army, he must not be embarrassed by his wife's inability to read. That was the whole reason for the lesson that we turned into chatting sessions. He said it was mandatory that I attended to witness the result of my tutoring. The whole conversion lasted for about 10 minutes and it sounded more like subtle threats and one man trying to dominate another man.

How did the woman not mention her wedding and the real reason she was learning how to read? How could I make her read in two weeks? Should we just memorize the whole text of the program? My mind started racing. I lived at the other end of the barracks, the Major knows where I worked as well. No way I could escape. I had collected a lot of money already and I was 100% certain he would be embarrassed on that day.

I did what I could in two weeks. Attending the wedding for me was like a cow going to the slaughter. My heart was pounding and was literally in my mouth. I knew the woman could not still read even after practicing the texts many times.

It was a beautiful military wedding. I sat at the back, then two guys came and said something like "O boy, oga say make we sit beside you". Which oga? They said "Major". I knew I was in deep shit. Prior to that time, a corper colleague had to be locked up in the guard room for dating a soldier's sister. Ordinary soldier. This was a Major about to be embarrassed in front of his friends, colleagues, juniors and church members. Of course, he wouldn't beat his wife, I figured I would carry all the blame and possibly return every penny I collected.

Sitting through the wedding was the most tensed period of my entire adult life. Gruelling 3 hours!. Second was waiting for my HIV test result. Of course, she fumbled, woefully at that. It was a disaster. That moment you want to hide under the seat. The officiating minster had to take charge of the situation to save face. I'm sure he wasn't aware.

As they where matching out of the church through the guards or what do they call them. Those guys that carry sticks and couples pass under them. I was seriously looking at the Major's face. His facial expression would inform me of my likely fate. His face was always expressionless but today, it was important to read those expressions so as to know my next line of action. Either to pick the next available bus back to my state and never return or something like that. But again, there's the problem of the soldiers beside me.

Conclusion.

The Major didn't have my time on that day, I guess he was occupied with the guests and all. I got lost in the crowd but never returned home directly. I slept at a colleagues room like 10 blocks away from ours. I could remember, ours was block 36 Engineering block. The soldiers sent to sit next to me also probably didn't know the reason and we all dispersed. My room mate and other corper colleagues that knew the background were waiting for the full gist of what happened. That night, I was waiting for that "gulf 3" visit. Gulf car was reigning at the time. They used gulf to pick you up to treat unofficial f**k ups.

The next day, I received a call from the Major's wife to come down to the Officer's Quarters. She didn't thank me for attending the wedding or for my tutoring or say anything that I could draw conclusions on about the mood of the situation. I was too paralysed to even congratulate her. Why would she be the one to call me given what happened at the wedding? I had heard all sorts of stories about what happens in the guard room, true or untrue, I never wanted to experience any of it. I put myself in the Major's shoes. No man should experience what he passed though in those few minutes at the altar. The Church became very quiet. Some people could not even look up.

Approaching the building, I saw the Major and one of the soldiers from yesterday and behold, the Gulf car!!.

I went straight down on my knees and then on my chest, flat on the floor in public view. My colleague had told me that was the only way I could lessen my punishment. But the Officer's Quaters was too quiet and lonely to gain any public pity and possibly help. The Major looked confused. I started apologizing and promised to even refund him. His kids (2 boys, 1 girl) started laughing.

The wife came out laughing as well, but in her hands was what I would later find out to be cake wrapped in those aluminium foils for me. The Major and the soldier just looked at me as if I was less of a man, rolling on the floor without even being accused of anything yet. Apparently, the Gulf car belonged to the soldier. The poor man was not even angry at me. I died multiple times throughout the night thinking about what evil was about to befall me. But all was just in my mind.

The wife would later tell me that she warned her husband before the Wedding not to waste his money on tutoring her. She felt she was hopeless at education.

Sitting in a bus journeying for my almost 2 hours road trip to work this morning, I opened this post which I had yesterday evening opened in a new tab but couldn't read it and read every word in it. I enjoyed your lettered experience. Your are a good writer. Say Nollywood na better movie industry, this your experience could have been well scripted for a good 'true life story' movie.

NYSC / Re: NYSC Discriminates Against Benin Republic Trained Graduates by bymigokeph: 9:19pm On Jul 27, 2019
Novartis:
NYSC Discriminates Benin Trained Graduates & Refuses To Issue Their Certificates

After one year of rigorous service, my sister a 2018 batch B, Stream 2 Corp member was not issued her certificate because she schooled in Benin Republic.

This is so sad

Why the discrimination ?

And please what is the solution to help her get her certificate. She has been crying since yesterday.

NYSC is claiming that they got information that students from Benin Republic universities did not pass through the four walls of universities and all bought their degrees. I doubt this is true, but then, how can they (NYSC) judge thousands of students who schooled in Benin Republic because of the misdeeds of a few bad eggs.

I know nothing about the buying and selling of degree certificates in Benin Republic, but what I am very sure about is that my sister went to school and have studied seriously from year 1 to her final year, with me remitting her school fees, not even to her but directly to the bank account of her institution.

Why is NYSC now causing her pains by withholding her certificate and that of thousand other foreign students after waisting one year of National service. This is not fair! Please give us advice and help us create awareness.

Mods Front Page please

This is so true & Kudos to NYSC. I know up to 5 persons in one Government office that bought B.Sc. from one of those Universities in Benin Republic.

The way they brag about how they can't waste time for some paper they can get without passing through the actual University system.

These people received B.Sc. in two years visiting Benin Republic only 4 times spending 7days @ each visit. Yet the programme was a full time

Nigeria Social Media League ( NSML) as it stand on Sunday 30th June 2019.

Teams. Pts
1. Fatoyinbo United. 66
2. COZA City FC. 65
3. Busola FC. 60
4. Pastors FC. 59
5. Reactors United. 58
6. Suicide United . 55
7. Sniper City FC. 54
8. Naira Marley Wanderers. 50
9. Soapy Athlectic FC. 49
10. EFCC United. 48
11. Yahoo Convicts FC. 47
12. Regina Ned United. 40
13. FC Ned Nwoko. 39
14. Tonto & Destroyers United. 35
15. Ihedioha Villa FC. 34
16. Okorocha City FC. 33
17. No Ministers United. 20
18. Kidnappers United. 18
19. Herdermen Palace FC. 16
20. RUGA United. 15

Meanwhile, the managers of 12th and 13th placed team are under immense pressure to get back to the top of the table where they exchange 1st and 2nd spot respectively before Fatoyinbo United who were languishing on the bottom of the table before signing their merciless striker popularly and dreadfully known as Mr. Krest claimed the top spot with no end in sight in ceeding the spot because COZA City FC is trailing them by one point. However, third placed team, Busola FC is on goal drought after the famous win over Fatoyinbo United over the weekend even though many people called for the use of VAR before awarding the 3 points to Busola FC. Both Pastors and Reactors teams are doing pretty fine on the table as both team manage a draw in their last match with 2 outstanding game for Pastor FC which could see them in third place if they win both thereby qualifying them for next season's Hell Champions League. The accord between Suicide United and Sniper City FC is unexplainable as both teams keep trailing one another after promotion from Non League to Premier League in 2015 when the incumbent FA president , Muhammad Buhari won the election. Many have castigated Buhari for influencing the rise of these two teams by using his power to promote them to the Premier League. Buhari denied the allegation by stating that his childhood team which is Herdsmen Palace FC is not doing fine on the table and is bound to be relegated because spectators are not interested in watching HPFC matches, hence the reason for the low turnout on social media stadia.
As it stands now, lovers of the Nigeria Social Media League are certain that the current spot occupied by Fatoyinbo United will be shortlive because Big Brother Naija Destroyers FC has gained promotion to the elite league after a year in the second divison. This is because they have the biggest stadium for home and away games in the NSML.
No one bothers about the activities and matches of 17th placed team i.e No Ministers United because its not up to six months they gained promotion to the competition.
Lastly, RUGA United fans were disappointed after claiming a point in their last match despite having 90% possession.

We get the kinda leaders/rulers we deserved. Why won't our leaders play us as they wish when we celebrate irrelevant nonsense.

FAAC deadlock will continue unless ―Governors

Leon Usigbe -Abuja

FAACThe governors of the 36 states of the federation have vowed that the deadlock in the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) will continue unless the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) remits what is due to the account.

The governors under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) met in Abuja on Wednesday night to deliberate on the issue of FAAC, the minimum wage being contemplated by government among other issues.

The meeting presided over by its chairman and governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari, resolved that until the NNPC remits what is due to the federation account, the deadlock cannot be resolved.

The NNPC had remitted N147 billion into the Federation Account in May, but the governors were not satisfied with it and had insisted that the correct amount is paid.

According to them, the money from the NNPC must reflect the current economic realities and prices of oil in the international market.
Briefing journalists early on Thursday, Yari said, the governors will not accept the figures form the NNPC.

He said: “There is a disagreement between the figures presented. I have been in the saddle for seven years and I have been attending NEC for past four months and if I see discrepancies I should be able to tell.”

According to Yari, the agreement NNPC claims to have with state governors to remit a maximum of ₦112 billion per month was done when oil price was $48 barrel per day but now the price $78.

He added: “NNPC said it paid N88 billion for subsidy and in the month of June it said it paid N31 billion, but it claimed N57 billion is for payment of subsidy in 2017, that is not acceptable and we won’t give the approval. You can’t just keep your hand into the public purse and take the money, you have to seek approval from the NEC or Mr President.
“And NNPC said they have N15 billion for miscellaneous, N9 billion for pipeline maintenance, N3 billion for crude loss, all those things are not approved by anyone.

“NNPC is owned by the federal, states and local government. The states get 48 per cent while the local government and federal government get 52 per cent. We have to agree whatever we get the federal government is getting 52 per cent. We are saying this money should be brought to the public for sharing.”

The governors also met with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, to discuss the issue of the minimum wage.

The issue has been referred to a committee of the governors.
