“Nigeria is blessed with incredibly rich diversity: of people, of cultures, of religions, of mineral resources, oil, and gas, amazingly rich biodiversity, that should make us the envy of the world. We are blessed with abundantly diverse agro-ecologies that should also make us a land of bountiful harvests with the capacity to feed Africa. How do you manage the diversity? The politicians will say if properly manage, how do you manage it? is it by quota system? of course NO is it by lying? of course NO We need to learn from developed countries like the USA, Russia with different ethnic groups. After the USA proclaimed independence, the whites were on top of the country affairs, Ran and developed the country then later start to include others. They did not start with a quota system. If we want to move this country forward, The Yoruba and Igbo should be given this country for 100 years to rule 100%, all institutions, then later to includes others. it sounds funny but that's the truth. Even today most of the research institutes in America are headed by whites, I am not saying others are not good at it but the leading forces need to be recognized with. Until we recognize the leading forces in Nigeria, drop the ego and allows them to develop this country we are not going anywhere. |

Politics › Re: Reps Approve Bill To Create State Police, Security Outfits by calcal: 12:14am On Jul 07, 2021 |
festacman: I am pro-restructuring but the issue of delineating the responsibilities, extent of powers and areas of coverage of State police/security outfit as opposed to national Nigerian Police Service must be meticulously and clearly done.
The reality is that Nigerians are ethnic-minded. Therefore, adopting the concept of state police with only indigenes as personnel is a bad idea for National co-existence. Such will lack diversity and become a tool of intimidation by indigenes against non-indigenes resident in the State. It will be easy to conspire and frame non-indigenes for whatever reasons. All it will take, for example, is to plant a gun or illicit drug on the property of a target and buy some witnesses and the suspect will have no non-indigene officer to at least complain to. It will ethnicize the country more.
It will also become a political tool of intimidation in the hands of the State Governors and their lackeys against real and percived political opponents. State governors will become dictators and parties and candidates will rarely lose any election. Our democracy will be messed up.
Given our peculiarities, Nigeria needs a national Police with ethnically-diversified personnel cross-posted to states of the federation to enhance unity and reduce ethnic ethnic-driven intimidation and acts of injustice. State police should only complement national police with clear mandate and specifications. With your mentality, this country is not going anywhere. if you are so worried about all the issues you mentioned above then stay in your state. You need to think out of that shit hole to have some sense. All developed countries have local government or township police, state and federal |

Politics › Re: Parading Of Suspects By Police Could Be Banned In Lagos by calcal: 10:13pm On Jul 05, 2021 |
As of 2021, the difference between educated and uneducated is that the first can speak in English while the second cannot. byrron: Parading someone before the media as a criminal by the Nigerian police is so unconstitutional and also a criminal act by the police since they are appropriating to themselves a power that is only vested upon the judiciary.
They label a suspect a criminal when such a person is yet to have a hearing in a court before a judge who is the only one vested with the authority to determine if a criminal act has been carried out by the suspect.
The most unfortunate part is this, both the so called educated Nigerians that ought to know better along with the uneducated one's that thrives in ignorance will join the police in character assassination of the suspect in the public domain when such a person still hasn't been brought in before a judge to make such determinations.
Most Nigerians are now judge's without even knowing all the facts of the matter but they just pronounce you guilty but expects fairness when they become the victim's.
Sick country with sicker citizens. |
