EducationRIOT In Anambra State University (ANSU) Uli Over School Fees by callydon(op): 1:38pm On May 16, 2012
There's great tension right now in Anambra State University, Uli, Campus following the continued sending out of students from the Exam hall for not paying there school fees.

Trouble began when some students of d engineering department were beaten by d school's anti-cult squad(a.k.a MPIAWAZU) for sneaking into the exam hall without paying their school fees. This angered their fellow colleagues who were still outside and they started throwing stones at the anti-cult squad. Other students from other depts later joined and d anti cult men where pursued out of the school premises. They later went and called the anti riot MOPOL from Ihiala.

As I write this the trouble still rages as the students have destroyed the anti cult office in the V.C's office and and students have stopped all ongoing exams and pursued the lecturers from the exam halls... No body knows if the exams will still continue tomorrow. We'll just wait and see.

This report is written by a 300L student of the Computer Science department.

ProgrammingRe: Plz Can Anyone Solve This Using C++? by callydon(op): 9:30pm On Apr 27, 2012
escobar07: its pretty simple. I wont write out d code. I'll just give u a short pseudocode-like explanation.here is it: since u knw d conditions dat must be true for a triangle to be formed. Use a nested if ... Else statement to test for all combinations of the 3 integers. Each if statement should test whether d sum of a particular combo of 2 of d ints gives a value less than d 3rd int. D else part shld test nothing as usual. D else part shld print 'possible' and the other parts shld print 'not possible' or whateva u feel is approriate in each.
bros all I need 4rm U is jst d SYNTAX n I'll do d remaining.

Beaf: All you have to do is check that all combos of two sides a greater than the 3rd. What could be simpler?
You've not even attempted to write any code for such asimple problem! angry

Better take up history, religion or something else thats absolutely non-technical.

rman: Apparaently, everyone hates MTN in Nigeria but the realty on ground is they are the market leader and are still growing. In fact they added more than a million subscribers last year which is second only to Etisalat. Everytime I see threads about MTN and DSTV on nairaland, it is all hate, hate and hate from forum members. Unless nairaland is not a partial reflection of the Nigerian reality, and if it is, WHO ARE THOSE ON MTN NIGERIA'S NETWORK?
Dat people are still on d Mtn network doesn't mean they are d best. It jst means dat mtn WAS able to DECEIVE people into buying their lines back then wen people didn't knw d difference between a gud network n a bad one.
Now d Nigeria populace is wiser n they now knw dat mtn is a complete FRAUD...
To me ETISALAT Is d best.

Perugia, Italy (CNN) -- In a ruling read to a tension-filled courtroom, an Italian jury on Monday cleared Amanda Knox of murder and other charges, nearly four years after she was arrested on suspicion of having killed her roommate in this picturesque Italian university town.

There was an audible gasp in the courtroom as the verdict was read, then an eruption of emotion, prompting the judge to call for silence. Knox herself was nearly hysterical, according to CNN's Matthew Chance, and had to be assisted out of the courtroom by two people.

The jury evidently believed Knox's impassioned final statement to the court, delivered in a voice trembling with emotion.

"I am not what they say I am -- perverse, violent. , I haven't murdered. I haven't raped. I haven't stolen," Knox said in the most important speech of her life. Her co-defendant, Raffaele Sollecito, was also cleared of involvement in the 2007 death of Meredith Kercher, a British exchange student and Knox's roommate in Perugia.

"We're thankful that Amanda's nightmare is over," Knox's sister, Deanna, said on the courthouse steps, getting a roar of approval from the crowd. "She suffered for four years for a crime she did not commit."
Deanna Knox thanked her sister's attorneys and "people who took the time to research the case and could see that Amanda and Raffaele were innocent," for supporting the Knox family.

The same jury, however, upheld Knox's conviction on the charge of defamation against Patrick Lumumba, an early suspect in the case. She had accused club owner Lumumba of killing Kercher.

Lumumba was arrested, but released after his alibi checked out. He later sued Knox, winning 40,000 euros ($54,000) in damages. Knox was sentenced Monday to three years on the defamation charge , but received credit for the years she has already spent behind bars, said her attorney, Carlo Dalla Vedova.

"We're satisfied with the decision of the court," Dalla Vedova told CNN. "We were expecting the rectification of this mistake."

He said Knox is ready to go home, but has said she will return to Italy.

"She always confirmed she was a friend of Meredith," he said.

As the verdict was read in court, Kercher's family grew emotional.

"We respect the decision of the judges but we do not understand how the decision of the first trial could be so radically overturned," the Kerchers said in a statement, issued through a journalist close to the family, after returning to their hotel on Monday. "We still trust the Italian judicial system and hope that the truth will eventually emerge."

Some of those gathered outside were unhappy with the ruling, shouting "Shame! Shame!"

Among those outside the court were a handful of college-age Italians and Americans, including two young Italian men who told CNN they disagreed with the ruling and believe Knox and Sollecito are guilty. One of them, Frederico Finali, 18, is a student at the same university Kercher attended. Finali said he is studying international communications.

"I am very upset with Italian justice," said a woman who gave her name as Veronica and said she is a fourth-year law student in Perugia. The legal process, she said, had gone "very, very bad."

"This family needs some justice," she said of the Kerchers, "and more important, you know, the real truth of the story." She said a majority of those in Perugia "absolutely" agree with her, adding, "I'm not satisfied."
EducationNon-academic Varsity Workers Begin Seven-day Warning Strike by callydon(op): 3:01pm On Oct 03, 2011
NON-TEACHING workers
in the universities have
declared a seven-day warning
strike beginning from today to
compel the Federal
Government to implement an
agreement they claimed was
signed with them in 2009.
The action came as the
academic workers in the
universities ended their own
warning strike at the
weekend.
The striking unions are the
Senior Staff Association of
Nigeria Universities
(SSANU), National
Association of Academic
Technologists (NAAT) and
Non- Academic Staff Union
of Universities, Educational
and Research Institutions
(NASU).
National President of
SSANU, Samson Ugwoke,
said in Abuja yesterday that
the seven days warning strike
will go ahead despite the
holiday declared by the
Federal Government to mark
Nigeria’s 51st Independence
anniversary.
He said: “SSANU has
concluded arrangements for
effective seven-day warning
strike starting on Monday,
3rd October (today), 2011.
The strike, which is expected
to be total under the auspices
of Joint Action Committee
(JAC) constituted by
SSANU, NASU and
NAAT, is aimed at forcing
the Federal Government to
fully implement the 2009
agreement it willingly signed
with the unions. “Our unions
have lost a great number of
her members as a result of
government’s refusal to honour
the agreement. The agreement
clearly states that from
January 1, 2010 our members
should retire at 65 years, but
government has continued to
retire them on the old order of
60 years or 35 years in
service.
“Also issues such as earned
allowances (field trip/
teaching practice/industrial
supervision allowances,
hazard allowances, deanship
of student affairs, among
others, have not been
addressed almost two years
after agreements were
consummated. Recall that the
agreement spanned through
two years costing our unions
colossal sums of money. That
shows that government is not
sincere and serious with us
from the onset.” .
The SSANU chief added
that the non-academic workers
have been mobilised for
effective industrial action
with all the relevant organs’
meetings held.
His words: “We have fully
mobilised our members all over
the country ready for the
commencement of the warning
strike. We have successfully
held our zonal and branches
meetings and also congresses
during which members were
well informed and directed to
fully comply and ensure
success of the strike. All
branches have received letters
of authority to proceed on
strike from Monday, 3rd
October, 2011. University
authorities across the country
have been served with
necessary documents in respect
of the strike.”
