Because the same word rendered made on day 4 , was the one they translated yield. It will show it clearly that when that Hebrew verb is used it means making something visible from what already pre existed . just as fruits become visible from trees that already pre existed. And this meaning is clear from the Fact that we are told long before Day 4 that there was light. So sources of light were present , they are just not yet visible and arranged for the planet Earth.

That verse I Gave u shed light that it is used when something is made available FROM what already pre existed.. Here the sun, moon , starts pre existed , but were made to be visible on day 4.

An example is Genesis 1:11

That same word was translated yield here . Fruits yield or exist from already pre existing Created trees . with times and seasons given them to sprout seed.

Likewise at Genesis 1:16 , God was not directly creating but making the pre existing luminaries visible to the Earth.
