A central business district.

Get two world class hotel chains to set up 4 or 5 star hotels. Make sure the CBD is neat with sidewalks, no open gutters, and no sand on the roads.

Rinse and repeat in other parts of the city, and in a few years you will be competing with Abuja and Lagos.

Before Lagos became the commercial and administrative capital, can you compare developments in very important cities in those states at those given periods?

I am a Lagosian and I know Lagos much more than you do. I have witnessed its developments over the years and no state compares with it, except Abuja, which presently is the federal capital.

The reason for the growth of Lagos is simple…the Federal government. With its position, it made common sense for people to migrate to developed areas. When they did that, they contributed to growth, with their own areas negatively impacted financially. You are from Jigawa and you live and do your business in Lagos. You pay your taxes here and contribute to the development of Lagos. Your state remains the way underdeveloped.

Lagos became the capital in 1914. That’s 110 years ago. Anambra became a state in 1976. That’s 48 years ago. Lagos enjoys oil and gas money from the producing states, including Anambra state. What does Anambra get from Lagos, except VAT?
