@ lady_hard Without knowing anything else about you, e.g. what you do, age range, etc, I have provided a generic feedback below with the hope that you will be able to apply them to your specific circumstance: You are a no-frills realist / You are bottom-line focused You don’t pussyfoot around. You are the first (and only person so far) to go straight for the jugular upfront – “Hi Canuck, Go ahead with my picture, tell me the negative things I need to change to make 'me' a better 'me'.” This is generally a strength, but you can make it better. Being bottom-line focused, you may miss out on the gems of ideation (discussed further below) as you may see it as time-wasting. Here is a helpful analogy - No frills means slapping food on a plate so long as it’s healthy and filling; what you may want to start doing is spending time garnishing it. Bare bones will do, but fleshing things out will get you the prize and glorious finish. Execution is inevitable (you will eventually get things done), but excellence is not. Finally, remember that most of what you identify as ‘real’ today did not exist at some point – It is therefore OK to plan and charge ahead even if you do not have all the answers today. May tend to shoot down ideas you consider ‘pie-in-the-sky’ "Man's mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions." -Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr Give yourself and others permission to dream. Separate the process of generating ideas where no idea is considered foolish, impracticable, etc, from the process of critiquing them where you can merge ideas together for an outstanding outcome. That way, you will not stifle great ideas that initially come forward as lacking substance. That’s brainstorming. A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week. – General George S. Patton You take the lead only when absolutely necessary. This speaks to your inclination as a doer, rather than a leader. Learn that leadership has nothing to do with titles, but with the attitude. The sixth President of the US, John Quincy Adams, said "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." Take the lead and initiatives in small, unnoticeable projects and gradually build up your confidence in this area. Finally, developing effective leadership skills is an apprenticeship job - Begin to pay close attention to, and learn from leaders you admire. . .even if it's from afar. Hope you find this useful! |

On the other hand, we are highly skilled experts at analysing others <look no further than the Politics thread on NL >, but that's like being on a rocking chair - It gves you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere.The purpose of this thread would be defeated if the assessed parties do nothing with what they accept as true in the feedback - By firing off on cylinders on the strengths and maximizing it to its full potentials, while letting the bottom fall out from the weaknesses. We all have both monsters in us - strengths and weaknesses. Choose the right monster to feed, while starving the other one and you will be unstoppable! |

Deep Soul:A pinpoint accurate observation, Deep Soul - It's called the Big Mo in Business School parlance (Mo = Momentum). It simply means building your competency to a level where is delivers an output that far exceeds your input. Here's another of my "secrets" that may shed some light on my methodology: I hold 2-3 avatars in my mind at the same time and turn them over in my mind for maybe half a day (while I'm actively engaged in my day job & other stuff). I then spend 5-10 minutes regurgitating what I "see" or perceive about the owner of the avatar. It's really easy, though the impact is far-reaching. |

Here are my responses to your numbered questions: (1) If you changed your pix, the analysis will change, but the change will be largely complimentary rather than contradictory. That is, I will get to know more about you from another avatar, not change my mind about what I already know. E.g. In a 2nd pix, I may see that you engage critical thinking to get things done, which I did not see or comment on with the existing pix. (2) LOL! Very typical reaction from you here, signifying I inched closer to the bullseye - The assessments are solely based on the avatar. You're going to force me to share another of my 'secrets' here - I find one or two central themes in every avatar and use the "if this, then" analysis to expand the assessment. I have been honing this skill for years. I also smell sumfin: You engage in critical thinking and it takes you a while to trust - True to your assessment, you have a keen eye for patterns which is why you're asking these questions I did go out on a limp with the body-image comment, so I swung both ways and used a tentative word 'may', because I wasn't sure. I am pretty confident about the other observations. Hope you find this useful. |
