US/Britain prepare for war against Iran

4 November 2011

Articles in the British-based Guardian and Telegraph newspapers on Wednesday have lifted the lid on military preparations by the US and Britain for an attack on Iran that go well beyond routine contingency planning.

The leaks pointing to a dangerous new military adventure take place amid a debate within the Israeli inner cabinet and media over whether to unilaterally launch air strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.

Officials and ministers in all three countries have denied the reports, but have repeated the longstanding threat that “all options remain on the table”. However, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is due to release a new assessment of Iran’s nuclear programs, described to the Guardian by an unnamed Western official as “a game-changer”, that could well provide the pretext for war. Iran has consistently denied it has any plans to build nuclear weapons.

The Guardian reported: “The [British] Ministry of Defence believes the US may decide to fast-forward plans for targeted missile strikes at some key Iranian facilities. British officials say that if Washington presses ahead it will seek, and receive, UK military help for any mission, despite some deep reservations within the coalition government.” In anticipation, “British military planners are examining where best to deploy Royal Navy ships and submarines equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles over the coming months.”

An article in the Telegraph confirmed that Ministry of Defence (MoD) had signalled the need to act quickly based on claims that Iran was shifting key uranium enrichment technology to a facility near Qom buried deep underground. MoD planners told the newspaper there was a “shortening window of opportunity” as a result. “You have got to get there early enough—once they dig into the ground, it gets much more difficult,” one source declared.

Unnamed British sources told the Guardian that US President Obama did not want “to embark on a new and provocative military venture before next November’s presidential election. But they warned the calculations could change because of mounting anxiety over intelligence gathered by Western agencies.” One Whitehall official commented: “President Obama has a big decision to make in the coming months because he won’t want anything just before the election.”

Israel could prompt Obama to plunge into a new war by launching its own strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities, or threatening to do so. Last Friday, prominent Israeli journalist Nahum Barnea, writing in Yediot Aharonot, reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Ehud Barack were pressing the inner cabinet and security chiefs to agree to attack Iran. The claim provoked a furious response from inner cabinet member Benny Begin, who denounced the media debate as “utterly irresponsible” as it “severely impeded the government’s ability to make decisions” on the issue

OBASANJO - THE CIA STOOGE:

Background to the recent Nigerian elections
General Obasanjo more than just a "friend" of the Americans
By Elizabeth Liagin
17 March 1999
Elizabeth Liagin is an independent journalist who has done extensive research into General Olusegan Obasanjo, who won the recent presidential election in Nigeria. She submitted the following commentary in response to the 5 March article "Nigerian election fraud leaves elite in control" by Chris Talbot

The 13 February 1976 assassination of Murtala Muhammad, which brought Olusegan Obasanjo to power the first time, was widely believed at the time to be the linked to the CIA. Perhaps the same might be said for the 27 February 1999 "coup" as well.

Obasanjo is more than just a "friend" of the Americans. He is an operative. And his involvement with America's foreign policy elite is a long, sometimes complicated, but delightfully interesting story.

There are several key persons and institutions that appear over and over in the Obasanjo files. One is Donald B. Easum, who was the United States Ambassador to Nigeria at the time of the 1976 assassination. Another is the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, where Henry Kissinger, who was Secretary of State at the time of the same assassination, serves as a "counsellor." Then we have Robert S. McNamara, a former World Bank president and the Secretary of Defense who carried much of the blame for the Vietnam War. More recently, McNamara embarked on an excursion to Haiti in the aftermath of the election that brought Jean Bertrand Aristide to office. Upon his return, McNamara pronounced Aristide "vehemently" anti-US, implying that the United States would be in for another round of whatever it was that Fidel Castro stirred up in people after his revolution more than two decades before. Within a year of McNamara's assessment, Aristide was ousted by thugs on the CIA's payroll.

Back to the seventies: At the time of the coup that installed Obasanjo, the US was still reeling from the OPEC oil embargo. That action would have been all the more devastating were it not for the fact that Nigeria, under Yakubu Gowon's leadership, had opted to breach the embargo and ship oil to the West. Because of the inflated price petroleum commanded at the time, Nigeria experienced unprecedented economic growth. When Murtala took over, the US immediately became concerned, not knowing if Nigeria could be relied upon as a supplier under a new regime. In an attempt to soften up the anti-Western ideology associated with Murtala, Secretary of State Kissinger proposed a state visit. Murtala told him to stay home--something interpreted in Washington as a "ten" on the scale by which political insults are ranked.

Fellow Nigerians, I have sat, thought and pondered over our current crop of leaders that are still alive and wondered who to recognize, and bestow the singular honour of being called the greatest living Nigerian but found no one worthy of it other than, Retired General Olusegun Aremu Okikiola Obasanjo. Crude and controversial his ways and idiosyncrasies might be to some; his patriotic love, vision, unity and the achievement of greater things for our beloved country Nigeria is unwavering.

Right, before anyone start posting insults and such unsavory words, I neither work for nor have any connections with the person of the retired general, just sheer observation of his achievements in trying to foster all that is good for the country and Africa, so far, till date, I believe qualify him as the greatest living Nigerian.
keep fooling yourself - obasanjo carried on IBB's SAP programme that reduced nigerians to slaves in their own land, he is one of the biggest criminals nigeria has ever produced - he is responsible for lumbering you with another dim witted clown who will make sure most of you die in grim poverty.
Most of you are too dim to understand just how much contempt these people have for you, keep worshipping and bowing down to them - they are working hard to ensure that your future remains grim.

I don't know when nigerians will wake up from their comatose state - how is it that a criminal, thug, IMF and world bank stooge like obasanjo can be hailed as a hero - I am convinced that nigerians are the most foolish set of human beings on the planet.

This man along with Ibrahim Babangida are responsible for destroying the standard of living of 90% of nigerians by implemening SAP and other IMF and world bank austerity measures.

IBB started the process and Obasanjo continued it these two bastards are the biggest traitors nigeria has ever produced.

buhari refused to throw nigeria to the IMF and world bank wolves and for that he was toppled and replaced with IBB whose coup was financed by the europeans and americans.

Buhari refused to allow the IMF wolves to appropriate nigeria's wealth and for that he had to go - obasanjo and IBB are the biggest pieces of sh.it on this earth and my prayer for them is that they will one day face the wrath of the nigerian masses for what they have done to that country.

To be honest i agree with you. But nigerians are already blinded without cure. tribalism and religious chauvinism plus the evils of poverty has blinded nigerians coupled with the west's superior propaganda and indirect blackmail. did you listen to news today? The current leadership under their new pm a well known cia agent in libyan, is contemplating going to the IMF.a body gaddafi of blessed memory despises, and helping to divorce africa away from. southerners i pity u.
Obasanjo is also a CIA asset along with IBB thats why they have been protected all these years by europe and america.

IBB toppled Buhari who refused to impose SAP on nigerians as instructed by the IMF criminal cabal , IBB overthrew Buhari and implemented SAP on behalf of the financiers of his coup (europe and america).

Obasanjo was helped into office in 1999 on the condition that he carry on assisting in the transfer of nigeria's wealth into the hands of western multinationals and criminal international banks.

the americans even loaned him a world bank stooge (okonjo-iweala) to ensure that the process carried on very smoothly- you can see GEJ is also carrying on from where his master (OBJ) left off.

Nigerians are fooling themselves if they think things will ever improve for them with these type of people in charge.

Libya will never be the same again as long as those murderous racists known as the NTC remain in control of the country, in the 42 years of Qadaffi's rule Libya owed no debt, all the money that Qadaffi made from oil revenues were held in foreign banks around the world on behalf of the libyan govt not in his personal account.

Most of this money ( $160 billion ) is likely to be stolen by european and american criminal banks who are desperate to steal Libya's vast wealth.

YOu are right about the west's powerful propaganda - to date nobody really knows what is really going on in libya - but one thing i know is that it is not over yet.

A man who delivered you into the hands of the IMF and the world bank - a man who put you on the road to penury, misery and endless suffering, a man who agreed to cut spending on education and healthcare in order to comply with the conditions stipulated by the imf and world bank - this is the man that you praise - Obasanjo and IBB are singularly responsible for the misery that you are now living under - the person who would have liberated you from the IMF plantation is Muhammadu Buhari if you dont know and he is the one you should praise not this fool.

This is y I laughed when I saw people celebrate libya.
Nigeria did not starve Biafran kids.
Neither was it Gowon, Awo or the Nigerian soldiers.
It was the British and their allies in the UN.
Their instiable taste for blood just to satisfy the diplomatic and economic policies.
i would say the death by starvation of igbos was carried out jointly by the british and the nigerian govt - the british were the enablers while the nigerian govt were the enforcers.

Very similar to the joint effort of NATO and the NTC in the ousting of Qadaffi.

the igbos were genuinely fighting for a legitimate cause but because that cause did not serve any useful purpose for the british they were left to die at the hands of the nigerian troops.

Foreign Affairs › Libya's African Migrants Face Harder Life Post-kadhafi by cap28(op): 12:09pm On Nov 01, 2011
Libya's African migrants face harder life post-Kadhafi
By Simon Martelli (AFP) – 4 days ago

TRIPOLI — On the coast outside Tripoli, a squalid refugee camp shelters hundreds of African migrants who found work under Libya's former regime, but are now jobless, discriminated against and unable to return home.

Squatting in the derelict buildings of what was once a training centre for the ousted Libyan leader's special forces, they face racist abuse, attacks and robberies as they wait each day, hoping someone will offer them work or bring emergency food handouts.

Clothes hang on makeshift washing lines. Piles of rubbish lie everywhere.

"Since we came here, we've been hoping, praying to God, believing one day maybe help will come from somewhere, because all we had has been taken," said Anthony, who worked on a building site before the conflict forced him to seek refuge in Sidi Bilal.

"I've been beaten and robbed several times, even in the camp here, Sometimes, when we go out onto the streets, people start throwing stones at us because we're black," he added.

The camp's 700 residents are mostly young Nigerian men who fled the capital two months ago when it fell to the revolutionary forces that last week crushed the final pockets of resistance by Moamer Kadhafi loyalists.

They are a tiny fraction of the number of people displaced by the conflict.

Over 700,000 migrant workers have left Libya since February, according to the International Organisation for Migration, but tens of thousands remain.

The Nigerians, the largest migrant community in Tripoli, found casual work before the city fell, washing cars or labouring on farms and building sites, jobs shunned by most Libyans.

But with many locals angered by claims that sub-Saharan mercenaries supported Kadhafi's regime, they now face hostility in their host nation.

"It is a problem having the Africans here," said Adil, one of the camp's security guards.

"It's not healthy. They don't eat good food, they fight each other, and some of them came without passports, bringing diseases with them, only to cross into Europe."

"The best solution is to send them back to their country," added the former fighter from Zawiyah.

Most of the camp's residents say they plan to return home following Kadhafi's ouster, because they no longer feel safe.

But without cash or passports -- Nigeria does not have a consular representative in Tripoli -- they are currently unable to do so, stuck in a limbo with no way forward or backwards.

"Some of them don't want to go back. They've risked everything to make it this far," said Jeremy Haslam, the IOM's chief of mission in Libya.

"But there are others who are eager to return, and they are desperately hoping that their temporary travels permits will be issued soon."

There are growing concerns among the humanitarian community that Libya's immigration policy will be tightened by the National Transitional Council.

The new regime is already believed to be restricting aid to the camp, fearing that it may become a permanent settlement.

"We believe that since Libya is free from the past government, it should be a free Libya for everyone," said Anthony, one of the few residents who plans to tough it out.

"Going back to my family empty handed would not be a good idea for me. So I think I prefer to stay here, to try to make some money to take care of them," he said.

But most in the camp see no future for themselves in the new Libya.

"I came here to work and make money for my family. But when the crisis started everything changed. Now I just want to go home and start my life afresh," said Larry, a 33-year-old father of three.

Libya - In his second letter, Saif-Al-Islam:  "We have not surrendered and we will continue and you will be hearing lots from us."

According to Seven Days News, after the proliferation of rumors of a surrender to the International Criminal Court, in a letter to the agency Seven Days News, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, has denied rumors about his surrender to the ICC.

Saif al-Islam said: "Some people believe that we were captured while others say that the Brother Abdallah Sanousi is out of Libya. Based this assumption, how then we engage the ICC?"

Saif al-Islam said that he could not betray his father, who never surrendered to the enemy and he never betrayed Omar Mukhtar, who always repeated "We never give up ,  We win or we die."

Saif al-Islam again said that the media war is very strong in order to demoralize honorable Libyans and sow doubt in them, and asked them to be patient for two months to ease the crisis.

He added, "The scope of what happened in Libya, betrayal and shock led Libyans to believe rumors, but we say to all those who loved Muammar Gaddafi and are always faithful, and to the millions who are among those harassed and repressed in the name of 'democracy',  - we tell them they should trust the Libyan Resistance. The TNC can not stop lying: once Gaddafi escaped and once he negotiated surrender - and now everyone knows their game."

He added, "They denied Libya a future based on Unity and Love, and they wanted the Libya of tomorrow to be based on sacrifices and hunting traitors and we are ready".

In conclusion, Saif al-Islam in his message to his supporters said: "When Libyan leader Moammar Kadhafi told you to continue to resist, even if you do not hear his voice, he had decided to remain resistant in Sirte with heroism and courage but he could not speak because of a power and telecommunications blackout.
But as for me, I continue with the resistance and you'll be hearing a lot from me, insha'Allah".

"We will finish what Omar Mukhtar and Moummar Gaddafi began, the Libyan resistance is in excellent shape and Libya of tomorrow is ours and Allahu Akbar!"

The reason nigerians are poor is because we are enslaved mentally and physically to the europeans and americans, our leaders are bought and paid for and are not working in the interest of their own citizens, they collaborate with the europeans to make our lives as hard, miserable and poverty stricken as possible and it will never end until we overthrow them.

idi amin sponsored by qadaffi - what a joke? idi amin worked as a cook for the british during their colonial occupation of uganda and was recruited by british intelligence:

IDI AMIN
General of Uganda
Amin was one of the most notorious of Africa's post-independence dictators. A former heavyweight boxing champion in Uganda and a non-commissioned officer in the British Army there, Amin caught the attention of his superiors because of his efficient management of concentration camps in Kenya during the Mau Mau rebellion in the 1950s, where he earned the title of "The Strangler". Because of his loyalty to Britain and his strongly anti-communist stance, Amin was picked by the British to replace the elected Ugandan government in a 1971 coup. While in power, he earned a reputation as a "clown" in some circles in the West, but he was no joke at home. Amin brutalized his people with British and US military aid and with Israeli and CIA training of his troops. The body count of his friends, the clergy, soldiers, and ordinary Ugandans rose daily, but the West ignored his cruelty. As he continued to demand more aid and sophisticated weapons, he finally lost support. In 1979, his quest for more power lead him to invade Tanzania. In retaliation, he was overthrown by an invading Tanzanian / Ugandan army. Amin fled to Saudi Arabia, where he now lives a quiet life in a modest villa outside Jeddah, looking after his goats and chickens and cultivating his vegetable garden. Traditional Arab garb has replaced the bemedalled Field Marshal's uniform of his heyday.
