PoliticsRe: Lagos Owes $1bn Of States’ $3bn External Debts by capricon: 10:53am On Sep 09, 2014
whitecat007: Just $3B? with all the infrastructures and carrying the burdens of refugees from eastern states? then Fashola of Lagos has done very well, when compared to the Omugo in Aso rock who has eaten the same amount in food alone, and burrowing more with nothing to show for it other than ogogoro bleached lips.
Which infrastructure? 3billion dollars with very little to show for it. And those eastern refuges are another reason lagos state has so much money otherwise it would be left to tax swamp dwellers

WORKS AND INFRASTRUCTURE I want to emphasize that our priority will be to complete on-going urban and rural roads, some of which we are doing in partnership with the affected Local Government Councils on a 70:30 ratio. Some of them include: Ugwuogo-Neke-Ikem Amaetiti-Achi-Inyi-Awlaw Nguru-Ede Oballa-Eha Alumona Eke-Ebe-Egede-Akpakume Nze-Nkpologu Akpasha-Ozalla-Agbogugu-Ihe-Owelli-Awgu Nsukka-Ogrute-Ette, among others.

We want to put it on record that the above-named roads will be completed and handed over in the coming year. Also, the dualization of the Enugu-Abakaliki Road, right from Abakpa junction and heading to the Airport with one bridge, an underpass and a bye-pass will be completed next month while the new dualized Zik Avenue Bridge will be completed and opened to traffic before Christmas this year. Contracts have been awarded for Milliken Hill-Ngwo, Nkwo Inyi-Akpugoeze to Anambra border, Ikedimkpa-Amofiagu-Oghu and the reconstruction of New Market roundabout-Agu Abor interchange spur of Enugu-Onitsha expressway.

As funds permit, Government earmarks to execute the following new roads next year: Iheaka-Ibagwa-Itchi-AlorAgu Agbani-Mbogodo-Ihuokpara Umulokpa-Adaba-Ukpata-Uvuru-Nkpologu Adani-Adarice (Enugu Songhai Farm, Adani) Udi-Amokwe-ObeleaguUmana-Mgbagbu Owa Imilike-Ezimo Uno-Ogboduaba-ObolloEtiti-ObolloAfor Amechi Idodo-Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu, and Agbani-Ugbawka-Nara-Nkerefi.

Other priority urban roads to be executed include the dualization of Nike Lake road and the rehabilitation of Abakpa Nike Road and Ugwuaji-Awkananaw by Kenyatta. The on-going construction of the new ultra-modern State Secretariat complex has reached an advanced stage. Work has also started on the new Governors office (Lion Building) and is progressing steadily. Government aims to complete and equip these buildings in the coming year. To accomplish these lofty goals, the sum of N15.623 billion was allocated to the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in the 2014 budget.

Works have stated heavily at the bolded area.

odinma1: This useless boy keeps embarrassing my Igbo people.

Onye foto on a mission snapping away with his 1998 nokia phone with hungry belle. grin

This is another Igbo domain in Lagos. There is no doubt in my mind that over 95% of the residents of this area are Anambrians.

Remember that there are more Anambra indigenes living in Ibadam alone than the whole of alaigbo.

Customised13 kedu, pls dont forget your interview and screening on Friday. I am in Koln right now. Do you want me to buy anything for you from Obodo Oyinbo?

jesuslovesme123: Typical backward mentality. One more year, one more year...

If this country should be split. - not based on tribe or religion, but on intelligence - only 5 - 10% of Nigerians would qualify for the 'Intelligent' side. The majority in this country are unintelligent sycophants - a liability to the intelligent ones.

Nairaland comments are proof of this.
You're so unintelligent!!
PoliticsRe: FG Plans Free Trade Zone For Enugu by capricon: 10:15am On Aug 16, 2014
HappyJoe: What does a "free trade zone" mean in practice? Calabar has been a "free trade (exporting processing) zone" from the late 1980s - hasn't changed anything.

What does an Enugu "free trade zone" mean in practice?
The government wants to make the airport a trans shipment cargo port.

I think this is what's important and not the FTZ tag

It's got an 'industrial/institution' feel about it! Doesn't look anything like a residential estate!

And if it's been completed for more than a decade now, where are the trees and shrubs?
Its a low income housing project

Enugu needs more of it.
PoliticsRe: FG Plans Free Trade Zone For Enugu by capricon: 7:52pm On Aug 15, 2014
eaglechild: What I mean is that how can you trust the govt to deliver on a FTZ when the infrastructure to make it a success is lacking.

Good access roads and rail are extremely important for an inland FTZ.
Ok, understood

Maybe lagos stadium is rotting away. I don't blame u cos i understand u guys in ur limited scope think lagos is everything.

eaglechild: I agree first things first.
I don't agree. If u wait for fg to dualize any road do u know how long it will take?

That ninth mile Obollo road is in use already.
Enugu state is positioned to be a good distribution center for goods to the north and east and even to cameroon.

Let's not wait but grab this opportunity with both hands

PoliticsWhat Do We Really Want From Our Governors? by capricon(op): 8:48am On Jul 01, 2014
What should development be based on? Please let us look at it critically

Now i i know that most states have little resources as compared with the budgets of most industrialized areas of the world so comparing ourselves with Europe for instance is out of it

I have seen where governors build roads yet no pipe borne water.

I have seen where governors build schools (no commensurate improvement in literacy levels) yet healthcare is Zero.

Some are interested in beautifying their states yet some will say its misplaced priority

Should it be industrialization?( is this their responsibility?)

Also as with the case of Ekiti state the gov built some infrastructure yet people wanted direct empowerment.

What do u term development and can it be realistically achieved in our clime at least within the shortest possible period.

PoliticsRe: What Makes Lagos A Model City - Newyork Times by capricon: 9:25am On Jan 09, 2014
ImperialYoruba: I didnt hear them say trade is what makes a city, they said governance and accountability grows a city, in other words, Administration!

Also, they hinted that the next tier of growth cities are Ibadan, Kano and Benin, all APC states!
Commerce and trade makes a city I'm sure u know this. Lagos is known as the commercial capital of Nigeria.
That Fashola is a good administrator will not change this fact
PoliticsRe: Educational Qualifications: Yoruba Governors Vs Igbo Governors by capricon: 5:43am On Jan 09, 2014
Sloan: Good education is a VERY GOOD sign of superior mental intelligence. That is why some people can score the required marks to get into university while others can't. That is why some people finish university with first class and > 4.00 2,1s where as others struggle to get 3rd class. In MOST cases, stronger academic achievement is an indication of superior mental capacity. Of course, a mentally superior person can have less than sterling academic achievement but that is usually due to other factors: distraction in school with relationships, cultism, un-seriousness, laziness, non-motivation, ill luck or missing important exams, etc. However, if a group of 5 ibo governors cannot be said to be above average academic achievement compared to the Yoruba governors, that means a real difference in intelligence. That is what the FACTS SAY, however, the emotions of the ibos or anyone on the failing side will find any other reason than accept the facts which is obvious!
My broda forget, there are diff types of intelligence. Some are book smart while some are not interested in books not becos they are dumb but because they are interested or good in other areas of endeavors.
Some have natural leadership qualities, administrative qualities, money making gifts which may not be acquired by reading and passing exams

At the end of the day we all have our contributions to make in life b4 we pass on.

U will agree with me that Some of the richest people don't have university certificates.

Hey mr smartass good education does not equal good administration/money making going by your igr example okay.

One more thing, onitsha is not what people think. Im even tempted to say that it is one of the best cities in Nigeria. Trust me, people with negative opinion only pass by the expressway.
