busky101:
which previous government failed to stop boko haram? When did Boko haram emerge?
Boko Haram was founded in 2002, it became violent in 2009, that was when the leader Yusuf Mohammed was executed by the police on the orders of then Gov Ali Modu Sheriff, Sheriff was a patron, they were his political army till things got out of hand. In 2011, his brother and his anointed candidate for Gov elections were assassinated in front of his father's house. Sherill and Buhari are also close political associates, they have always been in same political parties until 2011 when Buhari was informed he would not be the presidential candidate of then ANPP. The sins of the then ANPP govs were not forgiven when they formed APC last year. All the ANPP govs at the time were pushed out of APC just because that was what Buhari wanted. There were no primaries in APC as everything had been concluded before the merger called APC. CPC produces president while ACN produces the VICE. Same arrangement as 2011 that failed because Tunde Bakare refused to sign his post dated resignation letter which would have enabled Tinubu to become VP without standing for elections. Same thing is playing out again and I am sure Osinbajo has resigned even before winning the election or sworn in. I hope I didnt drift too much.
PoliticsRe: General Buhari's Military Government by CaptainJason:
Pedagogue:
Seun,

Thanks for beaming the searchlight on Buhari. You are a great 'JOURNALIST'.

But Seun, we will really appreciate if you can also use your 'journalistic talents' to beam a searchlight on the present government.

Or you don't consider it necessary for Nigerians to REMEMBER that:

1. The Chibok girls are still missing
2. That a dollar to naira is now 210.
3. That our hospitals are under locks and keys.
4. That universities were closed down for 6 months
5. Polytechnics were shut down for 11 months
6. Colleges of education were shut down for several months.
7. Oil theft is at an all time high.
8. Boko haram? They kill people everyday...Just check youtube if you have the heart!
9. Our international reputation? Gone to the dogs...
10. Corruption? Don't even go there! Billions now have wings...After all, Stealing is not corruption!!!

Seun, my point is: we know that Buhari is not perfect. He ruled with force as Head of State. He was ruthess...Yes, we know that!
But how do you expect a man who ruled as HEAD OF STATE to have ruled? It's a no-brainer!

Happily, there's something fantastic about the epistles from the US Library, and that is: BUHARI IS NOT CORRUPT!!! And believe me, he is all we need right now...

Sai Buhari!!!

Cheers
You tried by listing those points but it would have been better if you considered many other factors before heaping the blame on just one man out of 170 million people.

1. You forgot to mention the Borno elders that requested for less military presence and promised an end to boko haram if the military presence is reduced, you also forgot to add that Gen Ihejerika was attacked every time he was dealing with the boko haram boys, you failed to include that previous governments failed to stop Boko haram and that Emirs and notable northern politicians have been begging and standing as surety for those militants. Did you also forget that KAbiru Sokoto was arrested in Borno State Governors Abuja lodge? Why point all fingers at the man you expect to single-handedly stop numerous problems caused by several people and interest groups?

2. Dollar to Naira is now 210, Did you ask yourself what you and your people have been contributing to help Nigeria earn foreign currency? Are you aware that most countries with strong currencies are earning foreign currency, Do you as an individual export any good or service? The citizens of the countries you would want to compare the naira with are actively involved in earning foreign currency for their country

3. Most doctors and medical personnel in Govt owned institutions have their own private clinics where they refer people to, they cash out during the strike as more people troop to their clinics. Do you have any positive contribution on how to stop this trend?

4,5,6. These institutions clamored for autonomy yet they do not want to be independent, the workers have displayed their selfish nature, they try all sorts and hold govt to ransom. How come the private schools are doing very fine, many lectures hold positions in both public and private schools yet they do not sell their handout and ask for tutorial funds, sex and bribe for grades in the private schools except for maybe the yahoo colleges.

7 Oil theft is not new, Previous governments failed to stop it and it will continue to rise unless the world comes to our aid. The stolen oil makes its way to the market and as long as there are willing buyers and those ships can travel thousands of miles then there is no hope, its an organised crime.

8. Very sad, but how come Buhari and company have not been attending meetings to discuss the security situation? How come they cannot proffer solutions (since they claim they have it) to avoid loss of lives of people dying daily? How come they cannot use their supposed cult following to negotiate peace?

9. The international reputation has always been low and it is even getting better now, more people get visas now unlike the past when even western countries ban certain age groups

10. Corruption, we are all guilty, you support Buhari who is funded by ATiku, Amaechi and Tinubu

You claim Buhari is not perfect, No one is perfect, he was head of state, there were heads of state before and after him and they did not rule their people like they were ruling animals, Examples are Ironsi, Gowon, IBB, Murtala. Your Buhari that is not corrupt was Minister of petrol the first time that 2.8 billion dollars got missing from NNPC, I believe that is the starting point for corruption in Nigeria.

This is a democratic dispensation, Buhari claims to have his O'levels certificate, Nigerians have requested for it but he has been showing his dictatorial tendencies again. Is this what you really want? IF you want to be led by a dictator and have no regard for the rule of law, I cannot be in the same boat with you, This is Nigeria, you can move to North Korea ere such type of leadership is practiced.

I sympathize with you. Now that I know your mother stuffed your brain with noodles, I will take it easy on you. I did not distort any fact, the headline talks about Warri refinery but you talk about a complex inside of Kaduna refinery. You are yet to show me proof that Buhari signed the contract to construct any refinery. I have proven to you that Nigeria has 4 refineries and Buhari did not award the contract to construct any of the refineries. So now use your indomie brain to tell me if there is an invisible refinery somewhere which you think Buhari may have awarded the contract, perhaps you are into oil bunkering and may have one of those refineries labeled as Buhari refinery.

I would advise you create a thread on nairaland to seek a brain donor and funds to help you restore your brain.

The above quote are your OWN words no one wrote them for you. The words NO CONTRACT WAS AWARDED DURING THIS PERIOD are unambiguous. This means NO CONTRACT I called you out on this and one of your links stated that

http://nnpcgroup.com/NNPCBusiness/Subsidiaries/KRPC.aspx
The lubricating oil complex of Kaduna Refinery is the first of its kind in West Africa and one of the largest in Africa. The consulting firm, KING WILKINSON of Hague, Holland, in conjunction with NNPC engineers, developed the plan for the refinery. The contract for construction was awarded to CHIYODA CHEMICAL ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION COMPANY OF YOKOHAMA, Japan in 1977.

THAT IS YOUR LINK NOT MINE showing a contract awarded in 1977 The period in which you claimed
NO CONTRACT WAS AWARDED DURING THIS PERIOD

and you then respond

Can your mother carry out simple arithmetic? Does she need a high IQ to know when to close her legs, when to open them and when to have an abortion? Does the b.itch know when to jump in front of a moving trailer?
Again you have proven to the world your real worth, try to upgrade even if you will worth zero, its better than the negative which you belong presently.
You posted a message stating that a lubricating complex in an existing refinery was awarded, is that a refinery? You also quote that NNPC engineers in conjunction with a company were involved. IF you buy spare parts for a car, does that make you the owner of the car?

Like I said before, use your brain, upgrade your thinking ability and try to think straight, it's not my mothers fault that you lack training or became useless in life to become a tool for electoral violence and lie peddler for politicians.

I am not a Buhari supporter I am just a person who believes in TRUTH. I do not think truth is an inconvenience to be sacrificed for expediency or to win an argument.
I have read your links. They do not reinforce your claim specifically that NO CONTRACTS WERE AWARDED between 1976 and 1978. This is UNTRUE.
One of your links says [b]The lubricating oil complex of Kaduna Refinery is the first of its kind in West Africa and one of the largest in Africa. [/b I wonder what you make of this.

At best your claim that No Contracts were awarded is difficult to believe. Even if contracts were awarded I am not one of those who believe necessarily that it redounds to Buhari's credit. I just take exception to making claims without facts about things which you have no way of knowing.
It is a ridiculous claim!!
I believe you should be able to carry out simple arithmetic, you do not need a high IQ to deduce from the links. NNPC has no issue with Buhari so you expecting NNPC to state on their website that BUHARI DID NOT AWARD CONTRACTS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF REFINERIES is what I find ridiculous instead. A man was Head of state and minister for a period. No contract was awarded for the construction during that period, no construction began during that period, only one was commissioned while he was minister and the link simply states the date construction began. . I won't even bother to reply you because it is obvious you are not ready to think straight.

90% of the refinery project, including its commissioning was accomplished under the watch of Buhari as the petroleum minister. Now this statement may be considered by some as valid and others as invalid but I dare to say that the GEJites are more guilty of this 'claimed glory syndrome.'

Today 95% of the so called achievements the Jonathanians are celebrating were started by previous governments. I challenge GEJ supporters to point out a single project which wasnt started by his predecessors (OBJ and Yaradua).

Is it the railways?... is it the roads, is it the airport repainting?... Someone builds an airport from the scratch and another repaints the airport years later yet we jump around celebrating the repainter?

Can someone please point out a single road project that was started and completed under Jonathan's 6 years?... The dualisation of the Abuja-Lokoja road or the Abuja Airport road or the Lagos - Ibadan road or the benin - ore - shagamu roads; these projects started in previous regimes and the most annoying thing is that the projects are still not completed, yet the GEJites block our eardrums with screams of uncommon transformation. What a delusion!

May I also add the power sector, every single project (power stations) commissioned by GEJ were conceptualised and paid for by OBJ as part of the $16billion which we accuse OBJ of squandering. Up till today, some of these belated projects are being commissioned and we all give GEJ the glory yet these same Jonathanians think it is wrong to ascribe the glory of the Warri refinery to Buhari (who supervised 90% of the project)?
A refinery is not a road contract, it was never his idea, he did not need to supervise anything. Funds were already made available and paid upfront, only one refinery was commissioned while he was head of NNPC so why the lies of 2 or 4 refineries?
IF you find any wrong claims in what people are saying about any candidate then you can simply state it.

Your write up is flawed, Someone builds an airport, the airport is neglected and another person remodels and paint as you claim, that shows that someone is starting to manage properly rather then let things decay as others have been doing.
Obasanjo or Yar'adua did nothing about the railways that were already abandoned. We know the state of the roads under OBJ/ Anenih, or are you claiming its the money Obasanjo claimed to be used in fixing those roads that is in use now?
No one claimed that GEJ built the roads, GEJ govt rehabilitated the roads, Your principal, The General did not rehabilitate, repaint or have any effect on the project he is claiming glory for.
You may also want to add links to prove what you have written, don;t start with those lies again, CHANGE as you people claim.

Are you aware that Nigeria is planning to build a power plant under GEJ?

Zamfara Power Station, started by YarAdua
Zungeru Hydro-electricity, started by GEJ

PoliticsDid All APC Executives, Leaders And Members Fail Mathematics? by CaptainJason(op): 1:29pm On Feb 05, 2015
It is time to vote, politicians as usual have been spreading all kinds of lies, deceiving the gullible ones and many people have been helping spread such lies.

I saw one document in circulation which many claimed is Gen Buhari's certificate, the grade for mathematics F9, but that is not the main point.

APC party executive, loyalists and sympathizers have been claiming President Goodluck Jonathan has spent his years in power, infact they have been spreading this since last year and many supposedly learned people have also been assisting them in spreading this lie.

A simple check on the GEJ administration revealed the following:
1. On February 9, 2010, the Nigerian National Assembly passed a resolution making Vice President Goodluck Jonathan the Acting President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces
2. On May 5, 2010, President Yar'Adua Died and GEJ became president

Now, my question is: How did Goodluck Jonathan spend 6 years as president?
IF you start counting from when he became acting President, It will only be 5 years in few days time,
If you count from When he was sworn in as President, it will be 5 years in May.

How come it's not even 5 years for any and these people have been claiming he spent 6 years since even last year?

IF they cannot calculate this simple arithmetic, how will they be able to handle the economy

Please do not believe most of these politicians, if they are claiming to bring change and the foundation is built on cheap lies then you can tell what the offer is about.

IF you are one of those who has been spreading such cheap lies, start the change now by spreading the truth and please verify all that you are told before spreading and sharing such info.

Some of you may still request for source. LOL

You can easily deduce that Buhari did not award any contract as no contract to construct any refinery was awarded while he was head of NNPC. No construction was started during that time too. He was only lucky to be head of a NNPC when one awarded by Murtala Muhammed was completed 30 months after construction started.

When the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation was created in 1976, Buhari was also appointed as its Chairman, a position he held until 1978."

No contract was awarded during this period
The 4 refineries were awarding in 1963, 1975, 1976 (By Murtala Mohammed Govt), and 1985.
It was after the assasination of Murtala Mohammed on February 13, 1976 that Obasanjo became president and then appointed Buhari as Head of NNPC. The appointment was a way of compensating him after a lower ranking officer to Buhari from his (Katsina) was named Chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters (Vice President) and double-promoted to Major-General.

Really?
Do not be deceived. A lie told many times tends to become truth. Nigeria has 4 refineries.

Alesa-Eleme (PH 1); built by Shell, construction started 1963 and completed 1965
Warri Refinery; Construction started 1975, completed 1978
Kaduna Refinery; Chiyoda Engineering and Construction Company, awarded by Murtala Mohammed in 1976 and completed in 1979
Port Harcourt 11; awarded by IBB in 1985, completed in 1989

None was awarding during his tenure as Minister, Executive chairman or president.

You can check the links I provided and don't fall for those pictures they claim refineries were commissioned.

PoliticsThe Lie About Warri Refinery. Buhari And Obasanjo Did'nt Build Warri Refinery by CaptainJason(op): 12:15pm On Feb 05, 2015
A lot of people have been circulating false information about the Warri refinery and I decided to carry out a simple research today.
Warri refinery was not built by Obasanjo and Buhari.

In 1974, BEICIP, an international company based in Paris carried out feasibility study on the refinery.
The contract to build the refinery was awarded in 1975 to Snamprogetti Spa of Milan , Italy.
The design capacity of the refinery was 100,000 bpd and the project duration was 30 months
Warri Refinery was commissioned in 1978.

Buhari was Governor of Northeastern State between August 1975 and March 1976, He was not the Minister of Petroleum until Obasanjo regime. Warri is in the Southern part of the country so he cannot claim he built it as Governor of NE.
"In March 1976, the then Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo appointed Buhari as the Federal Commissioner (position now called Minister) for Petroleum and Natural Resources. When the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation was created in 1976, Buhari was also appointed as its Chairman, a position he held until 1978."

Obasanjo was not the president at that time. Gowon was president from 1 August 1966 – 29 July 1975.
Murtala Mohammed came afterwards.
At no time was Obasanjo in charge of Petrol ministry during the period the refinery was conceptualised, Buhari was also not Minister of Petroleum so both of them should stop claiming any glory for it. All they did was to cut the tape.

Both of them have had opportunities to build but failed to.
Obasanjo as Head of state between 1976 and 1979.
Buhari as Head of State between 1984 and 1985.
Obasanjo as President and Minister of Petroluem between 1999 and 2007.
Buhari as executive chairman of PTF during the Abacha dictatorship era.

What's the big deal if Fayose opt not to play along? Abeg free the man jor!
You are wrong. This is our game-plan.
Osinbajo has signed his post dated resignation and handed it over to Tinubu. The letter is dated August 2015. Reason for resignation is to continue promoting God's ministry.
GMB is aware of the plan so Tinubu becomes deputy. Backstage, Tinubu hopes GMB will move on or he will try his impeachment strategies like the one on Bucknor back then.
