PoliticsWhy We Collected N53m From Anenih – Yakasai by captianfreeman(op):
It’s not strange we’re suffering under Buhari — Yakassai

Could the news below be the reason for the above interview granted by Mr Yakasai on 28 of December 2015

By AbdulSalam Muhammad
KANO – Elder Statesman, Tanko Yakasai Wednesday confirmed that Chief Tony Anenih gave him and 8 other prominent northerners N53 million for for advocacy visit to northern traditional rulers to mobilised their subjects for hitch free 2015 general election.
Yakasai in an exclusive chat with Vanguard said that “yes, myself and 8 others collected N53m from chief Tony Anenih to pay advocacy visit to prominent northern emirs to mobilised their subjects for a hitch free 2015 general elections”.
The former President Shehu Shagari Special Adviser stated that the development followed a request by the PDP stalwart to make available to him list of “9 apolitical but respected individuals from the north”.
He declared that the N53m disbursed to his team by the Benin High Chief catered for the group’s members allowances, transportation and hotels accommodation on a tour that took them to 18 states in the north.
Yakasai who vehemently denied link between the fund and campaigns for former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, listed former minister of state, foreign Affairs, Alhaji Mamman Anka, Barrister Bitrus Gwada and Alhaji Suleiman Lawal as beneficiaries of the money.
Other beneficiaries includes, Dr Bahago, Chief John Macklink from Plateau, and Senator Sodangi.
Yakasai had last week denied ever rrcieving financial patronage from Jonathan administration during a star interview with Vanguard.
The former political aide to second Republic NPN President had in the interview said “I want to make it categorically clear that no officials of the last regime either Mr. Jonathan, his lieutenant, agents, contractors or person having links or relationship with the last administration gave me cash on behalf of that regime for a reason.”
Yakasai, who celebrated his 90th birthday last year disclosed that they visited the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, the emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris and the emir of Gwandu.
The list of other first class chief visited by Yakasai’s team also includes, The emir of Anka, emir of Ilorin, emir of Nassarawa, Minnie, Bauchi, Zuru, Kebbi, Katsina, Dutse, Hadejia and representatives of emir of Daurawa.
Other prominent rulers visited further includes, The Tor Tiv, the Gwom Gbom Jos, Ohimege Igu, Kotonkarfe, Etsu of Abaji, Etsu Nupe and Atta Igala.
Yakasai further revealed that his team were rescued from Gombe while on scheduled visit to the Emir when insurgents attack the city.
The Elder Statesman said “I want to make it abundantly clear that I didn’t received money from Chief Anenih in my private capacity as Tanko Yakasai but to a patriotic individuals who are interested in the peaceful coexistence of the polity”.

HealthStudy Shows Higher Cancer Risk Among Twins, Siblings. by captianfreeman(op): 10:10pm On Jan 05, 2016
Twins share the same genes, and when one gets cancer, the other faces a higher risk of getting sick too, according to a new study that included 200,000 people.

Having an identical twin diagnosed with cancer increases the other twin’s risk of developing not just that type but any form of cancer, said lead researcher Lorelei Mucci, an associate professor of epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston.

The study, which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association on Tuesday, suggests that some families carry a shared increased risk for any type of cancer, based on their genes, according to the AFP.

“Different cancers may share an inherited susceptibility based on genetic factors,” Mucci said. “This is an area that we’re just learning about.”

However, the influence of genetics varies widely depending on the type of cancer, Mucci added.

For example, testicular, skin and prostate cancers were shown to be influenced strongly by genetics, while lung, colon and rectal cancers appeared to be driven largely by environmental factors, she said.

But just because one twin falls ill does not mean that the other is certain to get the same cancer – or any cancer at all, according the report.

In fact, the amount of increased risk of cancer was just 14 per cent higher in identical pairs in which one twin was diagnosed with cancer, the AFP reported, adding that identical twins develop from the same egg and share the exact same genetic material.

Among fraternal twins, which develop from two eggs and are as genetically similar as typical biological siblings, the risk of cancer in a twin whose co-twin was infected was five per cent higher.

The twins in the study hailed from Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway – all countries that maintain detailed health registries – and were followed between 1943 and 2010.

When researchers looked at the group as a whole, they found that about one in three individuals developed cancer (32 per cent).

Therefore, the risk of cancer in an identical twin whose twin was diagnosed was calculated to be 46 per cent.

In fraternal twins it amounted to a 37 per cent risk of developing cancer if a co-twin was diagnosed.

The exact same cancer was diagnosed in 38 per cent of identical twins and 26 per cent of fraternal pairs.

The cancers that were most likely to be shared among twins were skin melanoma (58 per cent), prostate (57 per cent), non-melanoma skin (43 per cent), ovary (39 per cent), kidney (38 per cent), breast (31 per cent), uterine cancer (27 per cent).

“Because of this study’s size and long follow-up, we can now see key genetic effects for many cancers,” said Jacob Hjelmborg, from the University of Southern Denmark and co-lead author of the study.

Researchers said the findings may help patients and doctors understand more about the hereditary risks of cancer, a disease that kills eight million people around the world each year.

Specifically, the researchers studied 80,309 monozygotic and 123,382 same-sex dizygotic twin individuals (203,691) within the population-based registers of Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

Twins were followed up for a median of 32 years between 1943 and 2010. There were 50,990 individuals who died of any cause, and 3,804 who emigrated and were lost to follow-up.

“In this long-term follow-up study among Nordic twins, there was significant excess familial risk for cancer overall and for specific types of cancer, including prostate, melanoma, breast, ovary, and uterus,” the researchers said.

“This information about hereditary risks of cancers may be helpful in patient education and cancer risk counseling.”

As we all know; Today is the first Sunday in the year 2016. It is a very popular tradition for men of God to make some certain inspired declaration .Especially among the pentecostal churches.

"O God : thou art my help and my deliverer.

SportsRe: Fifa Admits Bronze Boot Error, Chukwueze Not Nwakali Winner by captianfreeman(m): 6:23pm On Dec 01, 2015
Proffdada:
The world football governing body has express regret in naming Nwakali as bronze boot winner instead of ChukwuezeThe Federation of International Football Association (Fifa) has admitted they made a mistake giving Kelechi Nwakali the 2015 U17 World Cup bronze boot instead of Samuel Chukwueze.
Chukwueze (535 minutes) and Nwakali (630 minutes) were tied on three goals and three assists but the later was awarded as third highest goal scorer prize despite having more playing time than his teammate.

“We made a mistake at the closing ceremony of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015 with the distribution of the adidas Bronze Boot,” Fifa wrote to the NFF.

“Instead of player no. 8 of Nigeria, Samuel Chukwueze, the player Kelechi Nwakali (player no. 10 of Nigeria) received the adidas Bronze Boot. However, if two or more players are still equal (after goals and assists), the player who has played fewer number of minutes will be ranked first.

“With this in mind, adidas will send you another Bronze Boot in December 2015, which we would kindly ask you to hand over to Samuel Chukwueze. Please be informed that Kelechi Nwakali may keep his trophy.”

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen won the golden boot award with 10 goals while Germany’s Johannes Eggestein walked away with the silver boot having scored four goals.

PoliticsRe: David Mark Campaign Rice, Salt Flood Otukpo, To Construct Four Roads Before Xmas by captianfreeman(m): 5:38pm On Dec 01, 2015
DONSMITH123:
Following the nullification of the 5th term election of former Senate President, David Mark by the Appellate Court, the campaign team of the ousted legislator have flooded the city of Otukpo with iodized salt, rice and tin tomatoes.

This is just as the Akpegede-born retired soldier has also commenced work on four different roads in the heart of the city.

A source told DAILY POST that among the roads billed for reconstruction are Otukpa, Owukpa and two others dominated by Idoma enone (west).

Mark has been facing criticisms for refusing to attract develop to the area, which is populated by most of his political rivals.

DAILY POST gathered that the road construction begins today, December 1 and are expected to reach completion before Christmas. The project is under the supervision of a certain Hon. Abel.

“As we speak, they have blocked Otukpa, Owukpa roads. The work is expected to start today, December 1 and reach completion before Christmas. We wonder where they have been,” the source said.

The rice crested with Mark’s picture and inscriptions that read, “Vote back senator Mark. If we retain him, the nation will retain us,” were apparently reserved after the general elections.

Already, Mark’s campaign team has been busy distributing the food items to residents of Otukpo.

It was gathered that while some rejected the ‘Greek gifts’ others accepted them and thanked the Okpokpowulu for remembering them.

Mark and Onjeh are expected to return to the polls after the Court of Appeal sacked him for rigging his way in.
