Technology MarketRe: This Thread Is Only For Aliexpress Shopper by cardiorap: 7:32am On Dec 09, 2021
I need someone to clear me if really, this is genuinely a case of customs duty or that of UPS trying to extort from me.

My parcel quite less than 10Kg, shipped from US through their UPS expedited option and are replacement parts for devices. The shipment process was initiated on 19th November and that same day, I got a mail from them. The mail clearly indicated the my name as the person it was being shipped to and for the address, I used my workplace address, where the name of the company where I work was obvious. It was just meant to be a place of delivery, not that my company purchased the item in question.

I kept tracking the parcel online and on 1st December, it arrived Lagos. At this point, I still didn't get any call or message from them. On 2nd December, it departed Lagos to my city. On 3rd December, early in the morning when I tracked it online, it showed that the parcel arrived my destination city late on 2nd December so I should expect a delay of at least one business day. Shortly, on the same day, it showed that it was processing at UPS facility in my city.

Later in the evening on that same Friday, 3rd of December, the message me got while tracking was that "UPS initiated contact with importer or receiver for clearance information. Once received, UPS will submit for clearance." Even at that point, I didnt receive any call, mail or message from them. So on Monday, 6th December, at about 1pm, I called their customer care, and after giving the person on the other end my tracking number, and answered some questions, I was asked if I had paid for customs duty, which I responded that I wasn't informed of such. She said she was going to send me an invoice via email.

It took another one hour for the mail to arrive. The content of the mail was somewhat suspicious as first, I had to call before I was promised to be sent an invoice. Second, it took up to an hour for the invoice to be sent. Third, when the mail arrived, the content of it had an attachment (PNG image file) named 'image001' which obviously was the invoice. Third, the invoice was prepared and addressed to the company where I work, as against my name, which I am the owner of the item and it was shipped in my name, and even so in their initial mail. And then, the amount seemed to be exorbitant if at all I had to pay duties. Lastly, I was concerned why I needed to pay duties (to UPS bank account, not directly to customs) when my items were already at UPS facility in my destination city, and not when it arrived Lagos which served as the port or point of entry to Nigeria.

After going through their mail, I called back and presented my worries, the customer care lady couldn't say much, she only gave me another phone number to call. I called the phone number she gave to me, I explained the situation to the lady on the phone and at some point she wasn't talking to me but to someone else on the background. I could faintly overhear her reporting the situation to the person while laying emphasis that my item has left Lagos and was already in my city.

The lady, asked to call me back and give a feedback. About twenty minutes later, I got a beep from the phone number I reached her with, when I called back, she told me that nothing can be done about it, that I just have to pay the fees.

The next day, Tuesday, 7th December, I visited their office in my city and after presenting my tracking number to the front desk officer, he said he has initiated contact with me but I wasn't taking calls, and on his desk, I saw a notebook where names, tracking numbers and phone numbers were written, and I quickly sighted my name, item tracking number and phone number recently written, howerevr, the phone number was incorrect as there was a mistake. I explained to him that I wasn't convinced why and how duties were arrived and at such a high rate, he gave me a name, email address and phone numbers to contact, that he was in the best position to communicate to me. I left, called the person and after getting my tracking he told me that he would send me the breakdown of how it arrived at that amount the next morning that their network has not been too friendly.

The next day, since I didn't receive any message from him, I called back and he requested I text him my item tracking number and email address, and I did that immediately, even as we were talking on phone. Till the close of work, I didn't receive an email, message or call from him or anyone from UPS. Rather, I called him four times in the space of three hours and nobody picked up.

Please kindly advise me on this. Thank you.

CrimeRe: Has Anyone Successfully Reported A Police Officer To The PCRRU? by cardiorap: 7:41am On May 07, 2021
PCRRU of the Nigerian Police works. I've called them twice, in fact, both times, I was travelling to different states and you know how funny some of our police officers could be on the highway.

1. First experience was March, 2021, I was stopped at a checkpoint on East West Road, officer asked for my vehicle documents; he asked for plate number allocation, which I showed him. He realized I had everything, yet he claimed the plate number allocation from Lagos State was not valid; that I should have gotten a new one - something that doesn't expire. I called PCRRU, they spoke with him, he gave a fake ID while mentioning his rank, he introduced himself as DCP lol, network was poor, but he got the message, though still egoistic, he signaled his colleague and said something about me calling IG squad. The colleague took over, since he speaks my dialect and was telling me I should have just given the other guy something and leave rather than staying that long to argue. We settled and I left.

2. Second experience was four days ago on my way to Imo state, the officer said I didn't have a certain police extract, while the said document I personally obtained from one of the state CIDs was staring at him, he claimed that was not it and kept me for an hour there, I called PCRRU and they spoke with him, man was there smiling with my phone answering yes sir, yes sir! He became friendly after the call and freed me to go.

In all, what I noticed about PCRRU is that you shouldn't be arrogant to the officers you're reporting, be calm when you call them, have all evidence and much information as possible. PCRRU works!
EducationRe: The Ridiculous Fees On Rivers State University Portal by cardiorap: 3:43pm On May 05, 2021
Lol... RSU fees have been within same range for over 4 years, my younger one just finished from there and I remember always paying that high. The funny thing is that you don't get to know the total amount until you start making payments, and their payments are done online.

After paying for Portal Charge, it takes you to another payment, you make about 6 different payments before you're done and I know the least I ever paid for her was about 79K.
BusinessRe: MSME Survival Fund Registration: How To Apply As Portal Opens by cardiorap: 10:50am On May 05, 2021
Sincerely, the whole process doesn't depict the magnitude of transparency expected of it. The image below was from Survival Fund team informing of the second batch of registrations. How come, few days later they claimed states like Akwa Ibom and Cross River had their quota filled? The image clearly shows a list of states deemed NOT ELIGIBLE to apply and these two sates were not listed. Personally, I applied from Akwa Ibom, and that was because I properly went through the image below. I was called; all my staff called and verified.

vladoz:
Okay but you reason it na... akwa ibom state reaching their quota last year?13000 for that matter...how many businesses were registered..few people were aware of the survival fund program back then...and look at states like cross river showing closed but people still received payment...delta state still open.. arrghh! Na wao

Obviously. Baby scammers they are. All of a sudden, and out of nowhere you see strange and new monikers that has never contributed to this thread that is almost a year old. Their only contribution is about Google forms being genuine. The funny thing is that same person is behind all of them. A not so smart scammer, who maintains the same format of grammatical construction. Tufiakwa!

BusinessRe: CBN’s N50bn COVID-19 Fund Disbursement Begins Thursday by cardiorap: 10:31am On Feb 09, 2021
Why are you so bent on this Google form thing? Even if your initial intentions were genuine, with the way you've championed it, it's obvious there's something fishy.

SADYBABA:
may be its the Google form application that's opened for applicants that are yet to be approved, but people are saying all sorts of things about the Google form here. Some people that used the Google form in November and December last year have already received their money, despite the fact that applications closed on the 30th of June.

Sooner or later those of us that believe in authenticity of the Google form will be vindicated.
BusinessRe: Between Opening A Driving School And Phone Accessories Shop. by cardiorap: 3:16pm On Dec 30, 2020
I don't know much about phone accessories. However, I operate a driving school, which I started from scratch as a fresh graduate.

Apart from teaching people how to basically drive automobiles, there are so many other things (services and products) that one can attach to generate more income.

However, it comes with it's own challenges, which can equally be minimized. Also, it is easier if you have sufficient capital to invest. To stand out as well, I'd advise you learn the business first. Possibly start with attaching yourself to an already existing and standard school. There is a lot to being a good instructor. It's more like taking up an NCE program for one year, except you just want to do the business for stomach sake. The more knowledgeable you are, the easier it is to deliver, and also you gain respect, trust and recommendations because people get to learn something they see as unique.

Lastly, I laugh at people think people don't patronize driving schools! Well, it depends on your locality as well, and if people can afford the services without thinking of alternatives like friends, etc.

For the phone accessories business, I think you'd still need some form of knowledge and training.

TravelRe: Driving To Port Harcourt International Airport Via The Int'l Airport Road by cardiorap: 4:57pm On Dec 25, 2020
Bros there's even a more deadly one there at the moment. In fact, this one doesn't even affect SARS Road itself, it is a pit on the service lane of the airport road itself, just by SARS Road junction. Believe me, no vehicle mistakenly enters that pit and comes out the same without a noticeable damage.

dbonks:
Is been a long time you travelled that road, it was erosion that destroyed that part, due to poor and shabby work done by the contractor, and it was immediately fixed after the raining season, and there are so many bye-pass through that spot.

bro dars Rd is sars Road. its not part of the obirikwere rd
You probably don't know that place or maybe you don't understand me.

The point of intersection between both road, on Obiri Ikwerre (New Airport Road), the slow (service) lane has a pit currently, except it was fixed this morning, because as at last night when I passed there, it was still there.

This is not the first time. That place has been patched before. From my house to that place is less than 8KM.
TravelRe: Driving To Port Harcourt International Airport Via The Int'l Airport Road by cardiorap: 10:34am On Dec 25, 2020
You call this road brand new? The same road that was previously abandoned due to substandard work. Governor Wike's administration reconstructed the road no doubt, but same road has been patched severally. Last year around this time, they had just finished patching a lot of potholes on that road.

At the moment, there's a death trap on that same road, at the point where it connects with SARS Road. I wonder why you skipped that part in your video. The pothole there has turned to a pit and any commuter that doesn't know and their vehicles enter that pit, is a goner.

BusinessRe: CBN’s N50bn COVID-19 Fund Disbursement Begins Thursday by cardiorap: 10:32am On Dec 08, 2020
No one can withdraw money with your BVN. Yes, that's correct, but you still think having your BVN out there is appropriate?

Think of this, how would you feel if for instance, you tried registering for NYIF which requires your BVN first and you get a response that the BVN has already been registered?

OR

Your NIRSAL-CBN TCF loan has been approved and someone goes to covid19.nmfb.com.ng first, before you, inputs your BVN, accepts the offer (even though they may not be paid via another account not linked to the BVN). And then by the time you go to check, you see a message that you've already accepted the loan offer.

What is worth doing, is worth doing well and appropriately. I'm not trying to say the person in question has ill intentions towards the BVNs he's expecting, but then, is that the right and authorities-approved thing to do?

Lastly, as an additional note and lesson from my observations, most Nigerians make themselves fall prey into the hands of scams, fraud, etc. It's easier to get a Nigerian fall for such by portraying a reliable image in a short period. Once people perceive a particular person, scheme or program to be beneficial, they test with little drops of water, and before you know it, they've built an extreme level of trust subconsciously, such that they even question advices and suggestions birthed by common sense.

Shalom.

sammirano:
No one can withdraw your money with bvn. It's annoying to see such misinformation.

Maybe you should try using a different browser or device. Alternatively, clear your browsing history, especially "cached data images and files." That might just solve the problem. Good luck!

This has been my observation too. I'm wondering if those who applied for amount above 1M are being considered at the moment, especially under SME. However, qué será será!

Am a beneficiary of #1m
Did you apply as SME? If yes, when? Also, when did you get an approval message. So far, I think majority of those that their loans have been approved applied under household and also below N1M.

Is there any beneficiary here who applied as SME and was approved, especially up to N1M and above?
