Politics / !!!ALMAJIRI System Produced Dangote, Rabiu, Others –adamu Garba by Carlyscales: 8:58pm On Feb 08, 2021
Former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, has said the Almajiri system ubiquitous in northern Nigeria produced some of the richest men in the country including Africa’s pride, Aliko Dangote; as well as the founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu; amongst others.

The Almajiri system involves parents sending their wards to live with clerics in order to study the Qu’ran and Islamic tenets. The system has been hugely criticised as the Almajirai often garbed in dirty clothes take to the streets to beg for alms, food and other basic supplies.

Meanwhile former Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, amongst other notable Nigerians, have spoken effusively against the Almajiri system in the past. The ex-governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria believed the Almajiri system was one of the factors responsible for the poverty rate and poor literacy level in the northern part of the country.

Some Almajiri students have also been said to be co-opted into banditry and terror groups like Boko Haram by Islamic fundamentalists and ideological radicalists.

When asked whether the Almajiri system promotes terrorism, Garba said Boko Haram has no connection with the Almajiri system because of the dichotomy between Islamic denominations in northern Nigeria. “So, it is very unlikely that you have an Almajiri man becoming a Boko Haram,” he told The PUNCH

Government need to regulate social media.

Social media is the cause of all these problems.

Naive people write and post fake informations online to incite violence without knowing the consequences of their actions.

When you start to blame a particular group for all the violence in Nigeria, that group wont sit down and look in idle they will react in anger and violence.

People lives are at stake, a possible civil war will end in disaster for everyone.

Believe me, you don't want to lose your properties, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, uncles and aunties to war.

Neither will you love to see your hands and legs chopped and your sisters or mothers raped in your front because you come from a particular tribe.

War is evil.

This guy may likely be a good material as a governor. He's likely to bring innovative ideas/wisdom to governance at state level with the degree of his exposure to topnotch democratic ideas.

Should we say money is his motivating factor? Well, men could be funny and cunny when they're hunting for a price.

The party should give him a chance and let's see the difference he can make.

Innovative ideas/wisdom like a university in all local governments in Anambra abi.

What exactly is this GoFundMe for?

This Sunday Igboho lives in a mansion, has fleet of benzes with his customized name on the plate numbers. All these wealth gotten from thuggery. What more does he want.

I can see that most Nigerians abroad are the ones that want to breakup Nigeria.

Oduduwa republic is a dead republic, they can't even provide jobs for themselves but see them sponsoring a thug and an illiterate to achieve a dead dream.

You all claim Buhari is an illiterate but you go around supporting a real illiterate and a thug to achieve a failed dream

Are you alright

He needs the money for logistics in conveying his large supporters in peace seeking campaign.

Since the shameless and failure of a government and security agencies can't protect the people.

Any one, illiterate or not is welcomed to try.

If Nigerians voted for a failure like Buhari twice for sentiments and nepotism. What grounds do we have to castigate the helpless masses on supporting an illiterate that's even trying to secure lives n properties, since our elected officials, irrespective of political party, from fed to local levels are just more interested in political standing n financial benefits of thier office

Politics / Obasanjo To Buhari: Banditry Is Happening At Your Backyard by Carlyscales: 9:11pm On Feb 01, 2021
The former president, while speaking in a virtual interview with Toyin Falola, a historian, on Sunday

He said he thought Buhari would do well in fighting corruption but that he did not know he had nepotistic tendencies.

“I thought I knew President Buhari because he worked with me. But I used to ask people, is it that I have not read him well or read him adequately or is it that he has changed from the Buhari that I used to know? I am not subscribing to the people who say we have a new Buhari from Sudan and all that nonsense,” he said.

“I know what I believed was his limitations and I have written about it –he wasn’t strong in economics, not all of us are strong in anything but you need to have sufficient knowledge of it for you to direct the affairs. He wasn’t particularly too strong in foreign affairs but I thought he was strong enough in the military as a former general like myself.

From his performance in his first outing as head of state, I thought he would also do well in fighting corruption. I did not know the nepotistic tendencies of President Buhari maybe because he was not exposed to that sort of situation when he worked with me.

“With what I have seen now, I believe that maybe he will be thinking of a legacy. Maybe he will also learn from what has happened in recent times.

“Because if you are the commander-in-chief and banditry is taking place in your backyard, then you have to wake up. The president changed his service chiefs after they have been there for more than five years without any perceptible improvement and some people started jubilating.

“I don’t know any of those people that have been appointed as service chiefs but you will hear my comments three to six months from now because within that period, we should be able to show what they can do.”

Obasanjo himself had diabetes before he became president in 1999. Even some of the healthy cabals that choose him to be president then, are already dead now. While Baba is still alive, kicking n exercising at 83.

What you postulating is like refusing to marry the love of your life because she's survived cancer or a family history of cancer.

Infact any responsible n sensible fulani should be ashamed. Having lived mostly in the north, I believe it's a great injustice to reduce an entire brilliant and resourceful tribe of fulani to just cows.

The president has no right to summon a governor any where in Nigerian constitution period.

He can only invite and the governors can decide to either honor it or not

If no be say how this country take be, Jack and Mark combine no suppose get money and fame pass mi...

More than 15 topmost social media platforms banned Trump ( including
youtube, gmail and apple) and you believe Biden will ban all of them

They'll simply migrate to a more friendly country like Canada etc n move on. You can imagine who losses

Forgetoo every where is not like africa.

Mark my words Trump is going downhill from now.

Eventhough i wanted him to win the election. But for a leader to stir up the worst in a community n disrupt everything, is a no no period

Every society in the world have hooligans n hoodlums. Hence the role of Govt is to keep them in check/down and maintain law and order. Developed nations use social warfare while shit hole contries use political thuggery and police brutality grin. But when a leader is using n inciting mobs to disrupt a co-equal arm of Govt. Never never

The common strategy to frustrate the head of terrorist organisations around the world, is to de-platform, isolate, silence and frustrate their ability to recruit. That's exactly what they are doing to trump now.

Developed nations don't exalt individuals above systems n institutions like Nigeria do. Which is what trump is trying to do. Hence why Mit McConnell, the Republican senate leader is saying now that Trump should either resign or be impeached.

The reason why he was impeached is to keep him humble. Which has been archived largely. If he tries anything now. The Senate will either reconvene and remove him from office or try him after inauguration and remove him still. In which case he will be banned from ever participating in politics again in US. He can continue his politics in Russia or North Korea grin grin

Foreign Affairs / Re: Donald Trump Impeached For The Second Time. by Carlyscales: 12:40am On Jan 14, 2021
Tolexander:
Make the Senate try and ratify this second impeachment.
So that Trump can be the first POTUS to be impeached and removed

the US Senate is currently on recess to reconvene 19/01 while inauguration is 20/01. Hence no time to remove trump.

It remains to be seen whether the Senate will reconvene under a matter of natl emergency to try/remove Trump.

Remember that they'll need for a 2/3 majority to remove him, unlike a simple majority needed to impeach at the lower house. This'll only be possible if the Republican party decides to discard trump. Which they can do honorably by asking him to resign than allowing Democrats to remove him. just like in d case of Nixon.
And I personally don't think there's anyone or persons amongst Republicans with d needed clout n support base to remove trump at the moment.

Another option, is for Pelosi to delay transmitting the trial till after inauguration. By then Democrats will have taken control of the Senate.
So he'll tried in absentia and if removed, will be barred completely from contesting any political post in d US forever.
But this will further divide the nation, which biden desperately needs to unite. And distract the Congress from concentrating on important task

1) of salvaging an economy on recession
2) repairing a foreign battered image
3) approving a badly needed covid-19 stimulus package for businesses, individuals n families
4) approving Biden's nominees to kickstart the administration
5) regulating the needed drugs, vaccines n interventions to manage a country ridiculously ravaged by covid.

So in all, it'll be really a herculean mission to remove trump from office. But though still possible.
