Audi has only announced updates for the European 2020 e-Tron, the company said those changes will eventually make their way to our market. That means the American version will have an updated battery pack that provides more driving range than it currently does. It also means we’re getting the e-Tron Sportback that features a fastback roofline. Audi released pricing information for the 2020 E-Tron Sportback, a swoopier version of the standard E-Tron that inaugurates several powertrain improvements. The fastback-like model made its debut in late 2019. The electric Sportback will carry a base price of ₦30,535,636.45 when it begins arriving in American showrooms in the summer of 2020, a figure that includes a ₦387,562.45 destination charge. In comparison, the E-Tron starts at ₦29,522.91.00 after the same destination charge enters the equation. Eligible buyers can claim a one-time ₦2,921,325.00 tax credit from the federal government, and some states offer additional incentives. At launch, Audi will offer a Limited Edition One model equipped with orange brake calipers, bright exterior trim, S-Line bumpers on both ends, and gray leather upholstery inside. Plasma Blue metallic paint adds a finishing touch to the look. Pricing and availability haven’t been announced yet. Audi disclosed it hasn’t decided how many examples of the One model it will send to the United States yet, but the final number will be in the three-digit range. We don’t know what the Sportback’s list of extra-cost options will look like with one exception: a towing package that lets users tow up to 4,000 pounds. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/2020-e-tron-sportback-becomes-audis-most-expensive-electric-car/

Most of the cars you see on the road today are four-cylinder engine cars. Its advantages include small and compact, which makes it fit easily in nearly any engine bay. It’s also lightweight, and with only one exhaust manifold, weight is further reduced. With only one cylinder head and a few moving parts than engines with multiple cylinder banks. They are versatile in modern vehicles, one may be disappointed with the power they produce. There are several steps that can be taken to get more horsepower from a 4-cylinder engine. There are many different ways to get better engine performance. Modern technology and advancements in transportation and engineering, automakers have finally come up with ways to improve one of the most versatile components in a vehicle (The horsepower). It’s no doubt that anything is possible and increasing the horsepower of one’s car isn’t left out. There are a number of ways to pull more power out of the four-cylinder motor in your car or truck. Depending on your budget and skill set, you may choose to pursue a number of options, but be aware that many of these modifications may void your warranty. Here are some steps to increase your horsepower; Maintain your vehicle Owning a vehicle comes with extra responsibility and one of such is proper vehicle maintenance. One way of carrying out the above stated is by following instructions and directives provided in the vehicle’s manual. It is important that fluids such as oil are changed routinely. Ensure that air and fuel filters are periodically replaced. This allows free airflow into the engine. Install a cold air intake Installing a cold air intake is one sure way to improve a car’s horsepower. To install a cold air intake, you would first need to remove your car’s stock intake tube and airbox that surrounds the air filter. When air is compressed it will increase in temperature. However, when air is hot, it will not expand much when it ignites. To ensure that the most expansion occurs on combustion, the air should be cold. So a cold air intake is key. Most superchargers tend to have an intercooler that will chill the air before it goes into the cylinder. When you increase the amount of air that flows into your engine, you are also increasing your gas mileage. It, therefore, gives you big savings in the long run. However, most aftermarket intakes tend to produce an obvious noise during operation. This is their only downside since stock ones are a lot quieter. Improve your car’s exhaust flow A car’s exhaust refers to a system that is responsible for conveying burnt gases from the engine and may include one or more exhaust pipes. A car’s exhaust flow can be improved by replacing the portions of the exhaust with pipes that have larger diameters. This will reduce the backpressure that limits the speed that the exhaust takes to the car’s engine. Reprogram your vehicle’s computer There are chances of reprogramming for contemporary car models as it is believed that lots of it’s activities and a number of variables are controlled by a computer. There are computers programmed to balance efficiency, emissions, reliability, power output and gas mileage. Reprogramming the computer to prioritize power can often free up the horsepower without installing any new components. You can have the computer reprogrammed so that power can be prioritized. This way, more horsepower will be generated without having to install anything else on the vehicle. You can search the web or your locality for people or companies that offer computer replacement for your vehicle. This can be achieved in two ways; firstly, Your car’s present computer can be sent to a servicing company for reprogramming or you purchase another for it’s replacement. Get a new throttle body The throttle body is a tube containing a pivoting flat valve (butterfly) that is used to control the amount of air entering an engine. The throttle bodies are usually kept in place by four bolts. These will also require a new gasket that needs to be placed in between the intake manifold and the throttle body. installing a throttle body with a larger diameter will allow even more air to flow into the engine, resulting in an increase of power. It is important to note that a throttle body is often measured in millimeters. Increase the Compression ratio The compression ratio refers to the volume of the cylinder when the piston is at the bottom of its stroke versus the volume of the cylinder when the piston is at the top of its stroke. when the compression ratio increases, then a higher octane fuel is needed. Higher octane fuels will not combust too early. This is the reason why most high-performance vehicles require high octane fuel and this, in turn, will improve a car’s engine. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/6-ways-to-increase-horsepower-in-a-4-cylinder-engine-car/

TIPS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING A FAIRLY USED CAR (TOKUNBO) Due to the price of brand new cars, some would rather go for fairly used cars as these come in at a more reduced price. Some of these cars look so neat, most especially those foreign used cars and could sometimes pass for a new one by sight. Buying a fairly used car, gives room for some percent of money to be saved. Used cars are not necessarily poor quality vehicles. Many have durable engines and provide good service for many years after purchase. They are sometimes called Second-hand cars or ‘Tokunbo’ cars. Before you buy a used car in Nigeria, there are certain things that you should look out for to avoid regrets or wasting your money on something that will not give the needed output. 1. Consider the amount of money available for that purpose This is a very vital part to consider when buying a fairly used car. It is important for you to define a budget and stick with it. Sometimes after paying for the car additional expenses might arise. E.g You might need to rewrap the interior or change the tyre as well as do some mechanical / electrical maintenance, all these will mean extra spending. You should decide how much you are willing to spend on the car. 2. Compare Prices It is important that you have an idea of what the price should be, this will help greatly in your bargaining process. One way to compare price is to check online and see prices. Researching the cost for the brand is important, this helps you stay in check. Also, some go as far as ascertaining if it was used on Nigerian roads or if it was imported into Nigeria. This gives you an idea of what the range of the selling price should be.It is important that you tidy up your ends by doing your price research before meeting up with the used car dealer. 3. Create a Target List of Brands and Models Knowing what you want beforehand is important, this helps your decision process and makes the buying process easy, as you already have an idea of what you want. Times have shown that Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan and Mazda are buyers’ favourites. It is safer to have more than one proposed car brand. 4. Check the mileage Mileage refers to the total distance travelled by the car since its manufacture. Therefore, when buying a used car in Nigeria, always look out for the mileage as it is a good deal breaker. The average annual mileage for a car is 12,000. If a car that is on your list of consideration has a mileage of less than 60,000 after 5 years, this is a low mileage and is a good car to buy; especially if it checks all other boxes in terms of functionality. The mileage will disclose how long the car has been used, how long it has run and also how much it should be sold for. 5. Request a Pre-purchase Inspection When buying a fairly used car, you will need the services of a trained mechanic to help check out the fitness level of the car. Just as the saying "All that glitters isn't gold", so also it is in the world of auto, a good looking car might not be as fit as it looks. The pre-purchase inspection can uncover some difficulties underneath the hood. 6. Check the engine’s strength This can be checked by taking a short drive. You have to turn on the A/C system and see how the engine works. If there is any vibration, it means the engine’s condition is not good enough. 7. Availability of spare parts I know of a friend that bought a used car, at the initial everything seems fine, but the moment the car needed a part to be changed, that was the end of the journey as the spare parts weren't readily available for purchase and could only be gotten from the manufacturer or another of the car's kind. It will be frustrating putting so much money into purchasing something and at the slightest breakdown, it becomes the end of the journey. Take out time to research if the car you are about buying has spare parts readily available because all cars are prone to have issues that should be fixed at one point or the other. Before you commit your hard-earned money for it's purchase. 8. Think about the reasons for sale of the owner One of the major reasons people sell off cars is because it's beginning to develop faults, although a few also sell because they want to acquire something better. It is okay to ask the owner for the reasons why he or she wants to sell this car. If the reason is acceptable, then consider other factors. It is important that you don't take too seriously the words of the car dealer as they are mostly concerned with selling off his cars and making profit. Check out every detail yourself before deciding whether to seal the deal. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/tips-to-consider-when-buying-a-fairly-used-car-tokunbo-2020/

Toyota Motor Corporation has finally unveiled the new compact Yaris Cross SUV. Toyota has used the “Yaris” name on export versions of various Japanese-market models, with some markets receiving the same vehicles under the Toyota Echo name through 2005. The 2021 Toyota Yaris Cross was Revealed today on virtual press conference (in place of a physical event, due to the COVID-19 pandemic) the new SUV will go on sale in 2021. It features a more conventional design in what we’d argue is a wise move that should lure more buyers into Toyota showrooms since not all people are fond of the C-HR’s quirky styling. Buyers will be able to order the Yaris Cross with wheels as large as 18 inches and a shiny new paint called Brass Gold, while the optional electric tailgate will make loading and unloading cargo easier. Once you open the cargo area, the floor can be adjusted in height and can also be split into two depending on what you need to carry. There’s even a belt system allowing owners to secure objects in place without having to worry about the items flying all over the cargo area while driving. 2021 Toyota Yaris Cross release date European sales will commence in 2021 – due to the uncertainty of the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak that may yet impact the Yaris’ planned sale date of September 2020. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/2021-toyota-yaris-cross-unveiled-with-hybrid-and-awd/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oS7_e-wAQHg

Automatic cars are a great way to make your driving experience less stressful. Driving a car with an automatic transmission is easier than the one that uses a manual gearbox. Driving an automatic car comes with many perplexities at the start, although all these will be overcome as you continue to improve. Automatics are labelled for easy driving and also a better option when it comes to economising of fuel coupled with lighter maintenance costs as well. However, one thing the first-time driver of an automatic car will find awkward is the disappearance of the clutch pedal and some options offered by the shifter though you still can handle the steering wheel with no hard work. To drive an automatic car, follow the steps below; You can begin by learning what the letters and numbers on an automatic gearbox means. It’s crucial to know their role and functions to ace the driving test. In the World of automotives, these letters are known as PRNDL (pronounced as ‘prindle’). What they stand for are: P (Parking): to park the car The P acronym is pretty self-explanatory. Simply it is used when the car is parked. It basically restricts the car from moving in either direction. A parking pawl (thick metal pin) prevents the transmission from rotating but the car’s non-driven road wheels will continue to rotate freely. For this reason, it is recommended to use the hand brake (or parking brake) because this actually locks (in most cases) the rear wheels and prevents them from moving. Furthermore a car should be allowed to come to a complete stop before setting the transmission into parking to prevent damage. Usually, P is one of the only two selections in which the engine can be started with the other being Neutral (N). R (Reverse) Shifting to this gear allows you to drive the vehicle backward. To do that, stop the car completely and choose the R gear after pressing the shift-lock button. There’s no need to do anything while moving from R to N or D, but shifting to the R again will require the use of the shift button. N (Neutral) The “N” is an indicator that your automatic transmission is in NEUTRAL or a free spinning mode. This setting releases the gear(s) (forward and reverse) and allows the tires to spin freely. Most people do not use the N setting unless their car engine will not start and they need to push it or have the vehicle towed. D (Drive) The “D” stands for DRIVE commonly referred to as ‘overdrive.’. This is when the automatic transmission ‘gear’ is activated. As you accelerate, the drive gear will apply power to the wheels and progressively shift into higher ‘gears’ as the engine RPM reaches the desired level. As the vehicle begins to slow down, the automatic drive gear will down-shift to lower gears. This is the top ‘gears’ setting on an automatic transmission. This gear is used on highways or when the vehicle is driving at the same RPM for extended road trips. L (Low): to set a gear at low L stands for low. When in this mode, the engine will stay in its lowest possible gear ratio, which is basically the 1st gear. Some older automatics lock it in 1st gear but for the modern ones, it will shift up to the next gear at a certain range of revolutions per minute (RPM) to prevent damage and to lessen the stress on your vehicle’s engine and transmission. As a first time learner, it is important that you stay off the road and carry out test practices in an open field, A car would be in P at the initial point, this comes from the previous drive. Start the engine by pressing the start button or right pedal with your foot (right) placed on the brake pedal. Place right foot on the brake pedal. With your foot still stepping on the brake, station the shifter to D to move forward, or R to reverse. If you lift your foot off the brake, this will make the automatic cars creep forwards (this helps in low-speed traffic or parking). It may call for more gas when the vehicle’s running on a hill or desire to move off more rapidly. The gearbox has the ability to automatically select the proper gear once on the move. At the end of your test practices, with your right foot still on the brake pedal, shift to P, turn off the ignition, and alight. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/how-to-drive-an-automatic-car-best-tips-ever/

I can still remember how I felt after my first heartbreak. It was terrible to say the least. But that is nothing compared to what anyone will feel when your super expensive limited version of a car is stolen. Nothing can feel worse. It will be the last thing on your mind before going to bed and the first thing you think of as soon as you rise. One might even dream about it. That’s how bad it can get. Research has shown that older car models are easier to steal. This is due to their weak or outdated anti theft system. That is if they even have an anti theft system in place. However, in recent times, car manufacturers have made amazing strides in beefing up car models with incredible anti theft systems. In Fact some of the latest anti theft systems make some cars impossible to steal. Yes!! I said impossible because with the latest technological advancements in car security systems in place, even if they are stolen, they can be easily traced and recovered. One might wonder; what then happens to the phrase “nothing is impossible” if this feat is impossible? Here is my answer to that: Just as automobile manufacturers and stakeholders spend so much time and resources in research, some car thieves also spend the same to come up with new tricks that will be used to bypass the latest technologies. It might shock you to know that there are some people who will do all they can to steal “The Beast” just for bragging rights. Yeah, that is the world we live in. However, a lot of people have been wondering and asking if truly there are cars that cannot be stolen. This is the reason carmart.ng has dug out a lot of information through several hours of research in order to bring to your knowledge the list of cars that any professional car thief will find difficult to steal due to their advanced anti theft systems. Here is a list of cars that no car thief in his or her right senses will attempt to steal. ELON MUSK’S TESLA ROADSTER The Tesla Roadster is currently floating somewhere in space on its way to Mars. The only possible way this car would get stolen is if it is abducted by aliens. Talk about how to make a car impossible to steal? Just send it to space. That is exactly what Elon Musk did. So for anybody out there who wants to steal this “Starman” for whatever reason, try your hardest and it is all yours. GOOGLE SELF-DRIVING CAR Imagine a car made by one of the biggest technology firms in the world. A firm that can almost tell the current location of every one of the world’s population. You can tell without a shadow of doubt that it will be almost impossible to steal that car. The fact that it is even a self driving car makes it even more difficult since it can recognize its owner. The “WAYMO” as it is called is equipped with all round motion sensors and cameras. This feature alone makes it almost impossible for a car thief to come anywhere close without being filmed. Perhaps the only car thief that can steal the WAYMO must be a computer hacking genius. TESLA MODEL S Tesla has a 100% recovery rate of stolen vehicles, thanks in part to its remarkable GPS tracking technology. The recovery of stolen Teslas is notable in an industry where the overall recovery rate for stolen vehicles was just 58.4% in 2016. Why would anyone want to steal a car that can be monitored by the owner using a smartphone? And the best part of it is that whenever anyone tries to hack the system or disconnect the tracker, a signal is sent directly to Tesla KNIGHT XV It was love at first sight when I watched the movie “Fast and Furious” and the “Knight XV” was driven by Dwayne Johnson. I immediately searched Google for the cost of the car and was shocked when I saw a whopping $800,000. Ok, it is one of my nice-to-haves. At that price tag, the Knight XV becomes one of the most expensive SUVs in the world and it is definitely worth the price. The Knight XV is bulletproof from the body to the glass. Even an RPG missile couldn’t destroy a Knight XV. Additionally, there are cameras mounted on every corner of the Knight XV, making it almost impossible for any thief or hijacker to sneak in without being spotted. 1965 SHELBY DAYTONA COUPE There are only six of these cars in the entire universe. All the original owners of this car were registered. This alone makes it less of a target for car thieves. The 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe isn’t like every Tom, Dick, and Harry automobile on the road. This is one of the few classic cars that are so rare that stealing it would be like shooting yourself in the foot. Unless you want to get caught or dig a hole and hide this vehicle, there’s no way a stolen 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe can be driven in the streets without tripping off a red alarm. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/5-cars-that-cannot-be-easily-stolen/

A pandemic is the worldwide spread of a new disease. An influenza pandemic occurs when a new influenza virus emerges and spreads around the world, and most people do not have immunity. Viruses that have caused past pandemics typically originated from animal influenza viruses. Buying cars online has been around for years now car buyers don’t need to bother going into showrooms, basically, every car-maker now have that same offline showrooms online where you can equally make the cars, compare colors, add or remove some features, Hyundai got the best ever testimony after they launch its own platform “Click to Buy” in 2017, John Freel the first customer to use the platform said “I can’t be bothered going into showrooms and I don’t like being pressurised,” he says. “I did it at work when things were quieter and then thought: ‘Fine, I’m just going to go for it and click.’” Buying Online right for me? You may be surprised to learn that you have more rights buying online than when buying face to face in a dealership. They’re contained in the Consumer Contract Regulations (2013). In addition to requiring the seller to give a detailed description of the car and a breakdown of charges and other costs, the regulations provide a cancellation period beginning the moment you place your order and ending 14 days after you receive the vehicle. During this time, you can return the car (or, more likely, have it collected), although the regulations say you have a further 14 days in which this can be done. Refund Only if you satisfy the seller’s fair-use restrictions. You see, the 14-day period from delivery to cancellation isn’t a license to treat the vehicle as a free hire car since there will be limitations in terms of how many miles you can test drive any car (anything from 10 to 100 miles). Anything beyond these limits and the seller can refuse to take back the car. If it’s a new car, the seller may be able to claim the car’s lost significant value and seek to claw some of it back from you. If you damage it, you’ll have to pay costs. If you’re returning it because it’s defective, there’s unlikely to be a collection charge, but if it’s because you simply don’t like it, they’re probably will be. Buying from car dealer Car dealers have their faults, but buying your next car from a good one is a chance to build relationships that can stand you in good stead for the future. Perhaps you’ll need a last-minute loan car, someone to fight your corner in a warranty claim or a mates’-rates deal next time around, they may be able to help. To buy online or buy offline That is indeed the question, but as the competition among online sellers hots up, so their standards are improving. Buying online currently looks like the safest way to acquire your next new or used car but, even when we’re out of this tight spot, it still looks appealing – at least for the time-poor and the shy and retiring. What TO Do When Buying Cars Online -Compare sellers’ prices, charges, guarantees, and warranties -Favour a seller who is clear and upfront at every stage of the buying process -Describe your part-exchange accurately -Never make any payment until you test drive the car -Confirm the full papers of the car, Check the accidental history -Check the duties paid or not What Not To Do When Buying Cars Online -Lower your guard just because buying online is convenient -Fit the process around other tasks but give it your full attention -Forget to check who your contract is with Finally, make sure you establish who your sales contract is with. Some online sellers are little more than an introducer who directs you to a supplying dealer to conclude the deal. This doesn’t necessarily affect your rights but could matter if there are disputes. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/how-to-buy-any-car-in-nigeria-during-this-pandemic/

Most car seats, as well as a great part of, the interior of the vehicle, are made up of leather. The term leather refers to that which is gotten from animal skins that have been tanned and a few of its sources include cows, buffalo, and snake alligators amongst some others. There are 4 types of leather; 1. Full-grain Leather 2. Top grain leather 3. Corrected Grain Leather 4. Bonded leather Leather seats are beautiful, and can make a car feel more comfortable and stylish yet can become an unpleasant sight when it begins to encounter cracks or tears or any other form of damage. one might wonder if a crack on the leather will require that you go for a change, the good news is small amounts of damage can be repaired by oneself, However, upholstery will be needed for large scale damage. Here are a few ways to prevent leather tears, Avoid Direct Sun Leathers are beautiful but are not a friend to sun /heat as heat can cause a tear. It is advised that a sun shield be put on the windscreen of the vehicle to avoid direct sun most especially in cars that are not tinted. The use of an air conditioner is also advisable as this helps the leather to keep cool. Condition And Clean Seats Regularly There are conditioners designed for leather interior, this should be applied to the seat and the seats should be cleaned, a vacuum cleaner can also be used in cleaning seats. The importance of the conditioner is that it helps prevent cracks and tears. Avoid Overload And Sharp Objects A weighty load can make a leather begin to tear, goods as this are meant for the boots of a car and not a car seat. Sharp objects should also not be placed directly on a car seat as this can cause a prick on the seat and a tear could commence from that spot. Here are a few ways to fix a car’s seat; 1. Use Repair Kit Ever heard of a leather repair kit? A leather repair kit is a set containing tools that can be used for leather repairs. It can be gotten from an auto shop whether online or offline. It also contains instructions that should be followed in order to repair the damaged area. You can begin the repair process by cutting away loosened threads with scissors. Apply leather filler using a palette knife and ensure to spread the leather filler on the backing cloth until it properly overlaps. Also, be mindful to use a colorant that is the same color as the car seat, this should be applied to the filled area and allow to dry. 2. Patching The Spot There is an option for patching; the patch to be used should be the same as your car seat just so it can keep up its attractive look after being worked on. This can be the extra leather or under the seat. Its size should be as exact as the place to be patched. Place some amount of leather adhesive over it most especially on the edges to help the cloth stick together and the job is done while it is allowed to completely dry off. 3. Use A Needle And Thread Just as needle and thread can be used to mend our clothes when they encounter little tears so also it is for the car seat, get a threaded needle, be careful to use a thread color that in sync with the car seat start stitching from underneath until the whole tear is covered, 4. Using Liquid Leather To Hide Cracks Get a liquid leather that is the same as the leather of your car seat, this will help keep up the beauty of the car. After wiping the car seat with a towel and water, add water of about 30% to dilute the liquid leather, then apply the liquid leather and allow it to rest there in the absence of disturbance. This will allow better and long-lasting results. However, this might not work in cases where the damage is large, Dirt must be cleaned from its surface using paper wipes/towels before carrying out any of the seat repair processes. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/how-to-repair-damaged-leather-car-seat/

Learning how to drive is one of the duties attached to cars as one needs the basic knowledge of what to do and how to do what needs to be done. Learning to drive is a gradual process that requires lots of patience and concentration even as one duly follows the teachings and directives of our tutor or director. Here are a few drivers’ beginners’ tips to help out as you learn driving; Take Drivers Education Just as people go to school to acquire knowledge in various fields like Medicine, Engineering, Business Administration, nursing and many others, there is a need for you to attend a driving school. The driving school teaches all you need to know. Its teaching revolves around the different parts of a car, how it functions and what steps you should take as you progress. They also involve in coach driving lessons where they mentor you as you carry out a driving test, this knowledge is so important when driving is a concern. These lessons will not only help you in driving but will also improve your knowledge about cars. Listen To Your Instructors It is natural to get a little excited as one learns driving, you must listen and follow duly the directives of your tutor as they guide you on issues relating to mirror checks, speed amongst many others. Engage In Continuous Frequent Driving Practices It is no doubt that practice makes perfect, aside from practicing in the empty field it is also important that you practice in lightly busy routes, after several lessons you can then proceed into practicing in busy highways that will require you drive along with other skilled drivers, practice driving in different weather conditions as the nature of the road when wet will slightly differ from when everywhere is dry. All these practices will help you become a perfect driver. Avoid Distraction Distraction is dangerous to driving and as such should be totally avoided. You must know what works for you, while some are good with loud music that could be a major distraction for some others. Be Mindful Of Your Views It is important that as you learn to drive, you keep a mind-full view of what is before, after and by you, check out for traffic lights and traffic signs, get a big picture of the road by looking ahead as far as your eyes can see. Drinking and Driving Don’t Do Well The effect of alcohol on driving isn’t a good one. Over time we’ve heard stories of people involved in accidents because of the effect of alcohol as they drive. You must use a corporate car service rather than drive when on alcohol; this can also amount to you being harassed by road safety marshals. Learn Basic Automotive Mechanics You must be equipped with knowledge of basic things about a car like changing the tire of a car, check the fluids and know how to top it up if need be, how well to place the battery amongst many others as cars can sometimes break down when you least expect and you having this basic knowledge can help. Get Comfortable With the Car before Proceeding To Drive It Comfort is one thing that should be obtained before proceeding to drive. Cars differ and so you must understand its control before driving. It is required that you study the manual of the car or take out time to study how everything works. Be Confident As a new driver, harsh comments will come from other road users as you might make little mistakes as you practice. You must be confident, always taking corrections and dismissing foul words. A driver should be confident as that measures the health of your driving as driving can be a bit scary at the start. Learn From Your Mistakes Sometimes mistakes are inevitable, when you make mistakes, do well to learn from it rather than push the blame to someone else. You must quickly forgive yourself and learn from it. This will do you lots of good. Avoid Phone Activities While Driving It is against driving ethics that you text or take calls while you drive as this could amount to grave consequences. If you should use a phone then, have a car holder that holds the phone while you drive for reasons like GPS and just in case of an emergency. It Requires All Your Senses Just like the human body systems, safe driving will need all your body senses. Most importantly your eyes and nose, as your nose will detect the smell of burnt. Your ears are also very important as well as your other senses. Don’t Speed You must maintain minimum speed as you drive around, speed kills. Save a life by managing a good speed limit https://carmart.ng/public/blog/12-driving-tips-for-beginners-learn-how-to-drive-car/

A nail getting stuck in one’s tire is one of the many experiences that can happen as far as a car is concerned. The nature of our roads makes it almost impossible to rule out experiences like this, some of our roads aren’t tarred and cleaned regularly. Nails don’t cause a tire to leak at the initial, this makes it easy to notice a nail stuck in the tire as it sometimes causes a gradual leak and sometimes it gives an immediate flat tire. A swift removal is advised as it is unsafe even though you can drive a short distance while it is stuck. Aside from the dangers of being involved in an accident, driving with a nail stuck on one’s tire can cause damage to the car. A tire is a ring-shaped component that surrounds a wheel’s rim. Most tires are a pneumatically inflated structure, which also provides a flexible cushion that absorbs shock as the tire rolls over rough features on the surface. Tires are of different types namely; light (Used by small automobiles like cars), medium (used by heavy-duty trucks) and others (An example of this are tires used in aircraft). Its lifespan isn’t definite but can be tied to factors such as quality and what conditions the tire is exposed to (Like the nature of the road traveled and the distance covered). This might seem like total damage but with these steps fixing it becomes easy. Needed for this operation is a plug and patch kit (This can be gotten from automobile shops or online); this tool allows you to fill the vent after nail removal. Plug Patch Kit The plug patch kit contains tire plugs, an insertion needle, and a rasp tool and these are all you need to get your tire back in one piece. Here’s a guide on how to remove a nail from your tire; Physically Remove the Screw or Nail From the Tire You might need to remove your tire if the location of the nail seems difficult or impossible, this will give you direct access to the particular nail spot. You will require a car jack to lift the car to a height of about 6 inches (15cm) off ground level. Pull off the tires by using a lug wrench to unscrew nuts. Worry not if the tire goes flat in the process of removing it or gives a hissing sound as it will be inflated after this process. Another way to find the nail is to spray a bubble solution on the tire, get the tire inflated and look for spots where bubbles are noticed because of the leaking air. This shows the exact leak spot. The use of a temporary plug is however dependent on the size of the hole caused by the nail and its location. A nail on the side of your tires or the edges of the tire outside the tread will make it impossible to use a temporary plug If the nail hole is more than 0.64cm, then a spare tire will be needed or a visit to a car repair shop to be repaired by a professional because if the tire isn’t fixed properly, this can do damage to one’s car. Thread the Plug Tool, & Physically Insert the Tire Plug After removing the tires, next is to ream out the spot the nail was stuck, this is done by using a sharp object to make the spot slightly rough, after this you are now ready for the next step, contained in the plug patch kit is a needle, ensure that the threaded needle is inserted into the hole, some amount of force will be needed to push this in. While the plug stays in the tire, jerk out the plug tool out of the tire and allow it to stay in the hole. Also, trim the end of the plug that is sticking out as close to the tire as you can. If you patched the tire previously it is advisable you get a new one because multiple patches on a tire are not advisable for safety reasons. It is also very important to know leaks that should be fixed personally and one that needs a professional approach. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/tips-on-how-to-fix-a-nail-in-your-tire/

Cars indeed need lots of care and maintenance for effective return. An early morning car check is so important, no doubt that some mornings come with lots of rush to meet up with one appointment or the other, a quick car check before hitting the road is very important. Who wakes up in the morning without brushing and bathing proceeds for a meeting? This is very rare as one would always want to appear fresh and stunning and smell nice even as they attend to official activities. As it is to humans, so also it is in cars it is important you carry out various checks. Here are a few things to check out before hitting the road; 1. Fluids Level It is advised that you check car fluids regularly, this is one fact that one should be very conscious of as a little leak somewhere can in no time reduce its gauge/ level. All fluids should be checked as it is unfit to drive a car with a low level of brake fluid, windshield washer or Engine oil. 2. Lights Road safety marshals are always in the lookout for drivers with broken light and other light related issues. The brake light is very important as it is the communication line between you and other drivers. You must have proper working light for a night drive. A proper check on the lights of your vehicle is essential. Kindly ensure the lights of your car are in good shape both for safety and to avoid issues with road safety personnel. 3. Windscreen wiper A windscreen wiper popularly known as the “Wiper” is a device that is responsible for removing rain, snow, ice, from the front of a vehicle (windscreen). Wipers are of 3 types; Conventional, flat and hybrid. Wipers enhance clear visuals for a car. It is important to have a properly working wiper in case of rain or any other environmental issues. Check to see if the wiper clears the water from the windscreen without leaving lines as that can impair your vision. 4. Wheels and tires Tires issues are one of the most experienced driving issues today due to the state of our roads, it is also one of the most important components for a safe drive and connects you to your location through the road. It is important that you check out the tire pressure, because of tire inflation as tires can be deflated even while not on the road and ensure you pulp if need be, also check the surface for notable damages. Carry out a proper check on your tire pressure and tire treads. Always ensure that you carry along a fully inflated spare, this will do you a lot of good as you drive. 5. Adjust the seat to your comfort Distractions should be avoided when driving, and one such distraction is trying to adjust the seat to suit your comfort as your drive. All adjustments should be done before the journey commences, this is a conscious way to avoid road accidents. 6. Check out Brake Pads Often we hear of brake pad failures, I do not doubt that issues relating to cars might at times spring up unexpectedly, but a routine check on your vehicle’s brake pad will do you better and should be replaced as soon as a fault is discerned. Ensure your hand brake is in healthy working conditions. 7. Listen to the sound of your engine The sound of the engine of one’s car can go a long way in telling what shape the car is. Start the car and concentrate fully on the noise from the engine, an alternating sound might need a mechanic to check it out. 8. Side Mirror Ensure that your side mirrors are set properly to give an active and perfect view as you drive as the views around you are to be inspected while you drive. 9. Steering Do a quick steering test to confirm the condition of your steering even though the steering test is best carried out while driving. 10. Check out fuel level At times people run out of fuel in places where there’s no fuel station, to avoid such, it is advisable for one to check the full level, that way you map out strategies on topping up the fuel level rather than car stopping in the middle of the journey because it’s out of fuel. 11. Have a test drive Do a test drive to ensure the car is in proper shape and fit for the day. You must pay attention to the sound it gives most especially as you engage the brakes Have a fire extinguisher in good shape, check out sign directions and ensure you use your seat belt while driving. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/11-important-things-you-should-check-on-your-car-regularly/

Driving is fun and can be more fun with a working Air Conditioner. This helps keep the drive and car cool eliminating environmental pollution like dust while driving, but all these fun could be put to reverse. Imagine driving in a car with a non- working air conditioner (Ac) and you get stuck up in traffic, you agree with me that the experience automatically changes from fun to a sweaty inconveniencing ride. The term Air conditioner commonly abbreviated A/c is defined as a device that eliminates heat thereby promoting coolness and ventilation. In cars air conditioner (A/c) helps to dehumidify the car interior, defrost the windshield and provides cooling comfort to drivers and passengers. Knowing how all the cooling process is obtained is a great start as knowledge is power, this will give a better understanding and help out in times of difficulty. The air conditioner (AC) system is made up of five basic parts; Compressor This refers to the power unit of the a/c, it is responsible for compressing and hiking the refrigerant’s temperature after which the refrigerant is sent through the condenser. The compressor is the brain behind the cool drive you enjoy as you drive. Condenser The condenser is a device responsible for changing the gaseous substance into the liquid state through cooling. Condensers are used for efficient heat rejection in many industrial systems. Condenses come in different designs and sizes ranging from very small to large. Receiver/ Dryer The dryer is a filter, it is responsible for separating gas from a liquid as a liquid can ruin the compressor as it isn’t designed for liquids. It is responsible for filtering particles and debris flowing through the circuit and also stores the lubricant and refrigerant. Orifice Tube The orifice tube is located in-between the condenser and evaporator and monitors the temperature and the amount of refrigerant that is safe for evaporation. Evaporator The evaporator is responsible for the cold, refreshing air you enjoy. It cools the refrigerant and then blows it into the cabin of your vehicle. All these benefits can be lacking when A/c is faulty, here are a few tips to help fix cars Air conditioner issues; Imagine a sick patient, goes to the hospital to see a doctor with respect to his/her health, the first question the doctor will ask is what and what symptoms the patients feel as this will amount to what prescription would follow, its same process when it comes to fixing a car’s a/c; Check the a/c system charge The refrigerant level decreases as your vehicle ages; this should be checked and properly maintained. The recharging process takes very little time (20 -25 mins). A system producing white vapor from the dent is a system that has a low car. A system’s charge can be checked by connecting a charge kit to read its static pressure. Check the Airflow This process will require you to start the car and carry out a feel test. Check to see if air proceeds from the A/c and further check on the cooling fans, an absence of air could be an electrical fault. As stated earlier above, the compressor is the powerhouse of the a/c, if the clutch is not engaging, use a voltmeter to check for voltage getting to the compressor. If there is voltage – the clutch may be bad. No voltage could mean faulty fuse, bad cycling switch and this will prevent the system from producing enough refrigerant pressure. Check out for leaks Imagine a balloon that is pricked, it automatically loses its ability to retain air. A faulty air conditioner (ac) could be as a result of leakage on any of its components. One easy way to find leaks is by the use of a UV A/V Leak detection kit. The instructions and guidance for its use are stated on the manual, Check around the fittings and hose manifolds, front seal, Schrader valves, pinholes and ensure they are all secure and free from leaks. Diagnose Electrical issues It is no doubt that a no- working air conditioner (a/c) can be caused by an electrical fault as a failure of the fuse or switch will amount to a failed system. It is important that you check out all electrical connections to its functionality. Carefully and properly check the engine making sure the pulley’s middle properly corresponds with its other parts as no alignment in the pulley will mean it’s in good working shape. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/tips-on-how-to-fix-your-cars-air-conditioner/

No doubt, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has brought about some changes in the socio-movement activities of the world that would make lives never remain the same again in some countries. Car owners must understand the fact that it is extremely important to take preventive measures to protect your car during this time. In this article, we will discuss The Effective Ways To Keep Your Car In Good Condition until the lockdown is over Do not engage the handbrake when you leave Engaging the handbrake over an extended period can result in the brake pads getting stuck to the discs or drums. Needless to say, if this happens, you’ll be in some trouble the next time you drive the car. The smarter thing to do would be to use wheel chocks, say a piece of wood or even a brick, to keep it from rolling and leave the car in first gear. Clean the interiors before parking the car This might be stating the obvious, but we’re going to tell you anyway. People tend to leave trash in cars, including chocolate or biscuit wrappers (with crumbs inside), old newspapers, water bottles and so on. All of this could rot or, worse, attract rodents that can damage floor mats, seat covers and even wiring. So, clean the interior thoroughly and spray a little freshener. But don’t use too much as even as it will stink in the closed confines over a long period. Fill up the fuel tank One of the major problems of leaving a car unused is rusting on the inside of the fuel tank. The best way to avoid this is to fill the car to the brim with quality petrol and even add some fuel additives. This will keep away moisture entering the tank and prevent rusting of the fuel tank. Of course, be sure that the tank is sealed properly as well. Change oil and filters It’ll help to change engine oil and air filters. Used oil contains moisture, metal filings, sludge, and other corrosive elements. It’s best to put in fresh engine oil and new filters before leaving. However, Do drive the car for a few kilometers so that the fresh oil is circulated inside the engine. Keep the tyres properly inflated Check the tyre pressure and make sure the tyres are at the correct pressure. Proper inflation help prevent cracking of the sidewalls and flat spots. Check the valves and valve caps for leaks and that the valve caps fit properly. Battery maintenance It is better to remove the battery if you’re going away for a long time. Also, smear petroleum jelly or grease on the terminals and the wire ends to prevent rusting. Ensure that the battery is fully charged and top up the water level. Store the battery in a cool and dry place, well away from direct sunlight. Park inside the garage or use a car cover If possible, park your car indoors. It’ll be safer and cleaner. If you don’t have this option, invest in a quality cover. Make sure to buy one made for your car model or type. Also, avoid using the cover indoors as this will ensure any moisture that is left inside will evaporate faster, especially in humid weather. Jack up the car Cars that have been stationary for long periods develop flat spots on tyres. To avoid this, use four jacks (or blocks of wood) so that the car doesn’t rest on the wheels. Sports cars with low profile tyres can be left without support for as much as two months without any damage to the tyres. Whether your car is new or used, you need to maintain it to increase its value. stay inside your house, Stay safe! https://carmart.ng/public/blog/how-to-keep-your-car-in-good-shape-during-covid-19-lockdown/

Over the years Mercedes Benz brand has become a permanent household name when it comes to automobiles for all age grades. The trend has become so present in our daily life that many people unconsciously misuse the general name ‘car’ for Benz, this can be sited in people’s general remark of “Baba God bless me make I buy Benz”. This situation can be likened to the Nigerian public calling every seasoning product as ‘Maggi’. Not even our musical entertainers are left behind as most of them use the name Benz in their music lines when relating to automobiles and still end up posting pictures on social media where they are seen posing with exotic Mercedes Benz products. Artists like Victor AD also dedicated an anthem to the Mercedes Benz brand with his song ‘Wetin w gain’ where he dropped lines like ‘if we no buy the Benz wetin we gain’. Mercedes Benz went from papas brand to become the car for the new age in Nigerian with its popularity being fuelled by the so-called internet fraudster a.k.a ‘yahoo-yahoo boy’ or ‘Azaman’. This set of people make Mercedes Benz their clique brand and flaunts their cars at will all over the social media. Clearly Mercedes Benz has grown to become the Numero Uno of automobiles as far as the Nigerian society and economy is concern as we went from V-Booth to G-Wagon. Beyond the razzmatazz below are the legitimate reasons why the Mercedes Benz Brand has grown to become the number one household name in terms of the automobile in Nigeria: Adaptability to the bad Nigerian road The Nigeria road is generally known to have potholes, marshes, slippery surfaces, and mostly un-tar. These road conditions destroy the sound state of cars by weakening the fender, shock absolvers, bumper, the chassis, engine etc and overtime reduces the lifespan of the car quicker. If there is any car in the world that suits and adapts to the bad road conditions in Nigerian across urban and rural space and still retain its sound engine and durability, then that car is Mercedes Benz. Engine power Mercedes Benz operates a power train, turbo, bi-turbo, and horsepower engine types that are known for its speed, control, and power; which invariably gives the Benz owner the opportunity and flexibility to choose the speed they want to operate and drive the on any type of road without being hampered by the road condition. Durability Many also believe Mercedes Benz has a 2nd to 3rd hand value so much more that even the downtrodden also claims it has a 5th hand value (that is if such exist) and very cheap to maintain. Style Over the years, Mercedes Benz has continued to produce classy trendy designs without following the stereotype of sporting cars such: Lamborghini, Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Maserati, Bugatti, Aston Martin, etc. They have also avoided to keep it simple like Honda, Mazda, Hyundai, Toyota, Peugeot, etc, yet they have managed to remain trendy to top drawer classy and classic cars to suit every social taste. This middle standing helps the brand in producing unique styles that we all desire Interior and Luxury One thing everyone has come to notice and accept is the ever-present classy and luxurious interior that Mercedes Benz designs their cars with. From the dashboard to the leather seat are all produced to make you feel like you are in the comfort of your home with state of the art simplified functionality that you won’t break a sweat to operate. Price It is undeniable that Mercedes is an expensive brand yet and its owners (especially those that own the latest products) brag about the cost and use it as a symbol as affluent. Regardless of the cost, we can all agree that the comfort, quality, class, and durability justify every penny spent. Also, it is worthy to note that, Mercedes Benz’s brand has a product for every budget. There are a low-cost brand like Mercedes Benz ML320 2000, 2005 C 240 that sells for ₦800k to ₦2M and there are also expensive like 2017 V-12-powered Mercedes-Maybach that goes from S600 $192,000 or ₦69 million. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/2020/02/why-mercedes-benz-cars-sale-more-than-other-car-brands-in-nigeria/ https://811198.smushcdn.com/1596854/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Why-Mercedes-Benz-Cars-Sale-more-than-other-car-brands-in-Nigeria.--735x400.jpg?lossy=0&strip=1&webp=1 |
As a car owner, you should always be one step ahead because you can’t predict when and where your car is going to break down. Sometimes it comes very sudden and it can leave you miles far away from help (and sometimes even out of cell phone range). So the question is, would you have what you need if your car broke down? Or if you were stranded somewhere? Anyway, this article will help you. Whether you drive a truck or a car you need to be prepared because when you’re prepared you can deal with the unexpected. 1. TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE/SPARE TIRE/CAR JACK/LUG WRENCH You will need a minimum of all these things to change a flat tire. Don’t wait until you have a flat tire before you look under your car and find out these items are not there. You will also need to check the air in your spare tire. If your spare tire is flat, you’re out. The tire pressure gauge should be kept in your glove box for easy measuring of the air pressure in your tire. 2. SPARE KEY Embarrassing and unnecessarily expensive, hold your spare key in a magnet case and place it in a secret location under your car. Make sure it is magnetic. Don’t worry, we’ve all done it. Challenge: finding a key holder that is big enough for these huge keys made nowadays. 3. Jumper cables If you don’t know what jumper cables are and if you don’t have them in your vehicle, try to get one because dead batteries are a fact of life. Jumper Cables are thick electric cables fitted with clips at either end, used for starting a vehicle by connecting its dead battery to the battery of another vehicle. 4. First aid kit For minor wounds and for minimizing damage, you need a first aid kit, especially for a parent, because you can’t tell what your playing child can run into. It’s actually mandated by law in most countries 5. Flashlight If you have ever gotten a flat tire at or Ever tried to change a tire in the dark. You’ll definitely need this for changing your tire at night, but it’ll also illuminate your workspace and allow other drivers to easily spot you from a distance. 6. A durable multi-tool A good multi-tool is the second most useful thing on this list. Even if you don’t own a car, this is a must-have. 7. Fire extinguisher The chances you’ll actually need a fire extinguisher are thankfully slim. There’s no middle ground, though, because when you need one, you absolutely need one. 8. Hazard triangle/flares If you have any sort of problems on the road at night, you want to be as visible as possible, period. Like the first aid kit, this is mandatory in many countries. 9. Tow strap Why would you need a tow strap? For starters, getting your car a relatively safe distance off the road until a tow truck can get there is extremely important 10. NAPKINS/RAGS Some extra napkins in the glove box can come in handy for many things like cleaning up spilled coffee, wiping off dust or moisture on the windshield, cleaning hands, checking oil, etc. We hope this article will help you to know the essential things you need to have in your cars because we can’t predict the future, but what we can do is to be prepared for common situations. https://carmart.ng/public/blog/2020/02/10-items-you-should-always-have-in-your-car-in-2020/
