Car TalkCommon Car Problems Every Driver Should Know About In 2020 by Carmartng(op): 11:43am On Jan 21, 2020
Buying a car these days is so easy and it's quite easy to learn how to drive, owing a car makes life more convenient, but it comes with a big price. However, we not talking about how much it cost.
Before you buy your next car (or while you're trying to diagnose an issue with your current one), remember to look for information about specific makes, models, and years. Keep yourself up to date on known manufacturing defects and safety recalls. Because it is more difficult to understand what makes your car work, let alone know how to keep it in tip-top shape. To achieve this, you need to know the most common car problems and how best to deal with them! So check out the most common car problems that will help you become a smart and informed driver.

1. Overindulgent Oil Problems.
The car relies on gas to be able to run the engine and as such, you can hardly do anything if there are fuel problems. When the fuel tank has a problem, this could spell a great danger for your car. However, if you're finding it's needing changes and top-ups more frequently than it should, there might be a problem. Early signs you need to check your oil include a minor dip in performance and the ever-dreaded oil light on your dashboard. When your car is in a particularly dire need of an oil change, you may even start to see corrosion in its engine. Another oil-related complaint is the clogged oil filter. You'll probably see this problem if you've waited too long to change the oil. While modern cars come with systems that are equipped with filter bypasses, It’s a good rule of thumb to change the filter whenever you change the oil.

2. Faulty Battery:
Most car batteries should last about three years or 50,000 miles, because the battery is one of the main sources of power that the car depends on so as to be able to function properly. A dead battery is usually caused by reduced amps – or electrical currents – which naturally decrease as the battery loses its ability to maintain a charge, To be able to keep the battery in great shape, you can use lubricants on the terminals, which protects them against corrosion. Ultimately, you may want to consider the maintenance-free batteries and will serve you for a very long period of time.

3. Faulty Spark Plug.
The plugs are essential for ignition and seem to be quite busy. When a car spark plug is not working properly, they tend to affect the overall performance of the car. The car will consume a whole lot of fuel and will not have the required power if the plugs are worn out. But to maintain this plug you will ensure that the spark plugs are replaced as soon as they wear out. The recommend replacement time for every spark plug is after every 10,000 miles.

4. Smoking Car:
Smoking car is never a good sign. Whether the smoke comes out of the front or the back, smoke from under the hood of a car means you have an overheating engine. In most modern cars, the cooling system is very complex, containing multiple sensors that monitor coolant temperature, flow and other components. Staying on top of radiator flush services and changing the water pump before it breaks are two easy ways to reduce overheating.

5. Damaged Alternator:
An alternator is an electrical generator that converts mechanical energy to electrical energy in the form of alternating current, the alternator or generator is responsible for charging the battery and ensuring the engine is powered.
One of the common causes of the failure of the alternator is when there is a rapid increase of the engine temperature, Even when the car is jump started, the alternator will not facilitate the recharge of the battery and to stop this from happening, you should always ensure that your car has sufficient fluids like water in the radiator and also having a coolant. Regular car servicing will also help in keeping the alternator is great shape.

6. Bad Smell Coming Out of the AC.
If there’s a odors coming out of your air conditioner, then you most likely have a bad AC accumulator!
The air conditioning system is the essential part of the daily commute and road trips during the hot summer month, to prevent the mildew from forming, you have to keep the interior of the AC system dry. Make the habit of turning off the air conditioner without switching off the fan at least 2 to 5 minutes before shutting off the car’s engine. It will keep the system free of moisture.

7. Failed Motor Starter:
The starter in your car is very sensitive and there are a couple of things that may hinder its normal functioning. There common problem that may cause the starter to malfunction include the springs failing as a result of corrosion. There terminals and the solenoid may also fail due to various reasons. The gears that are part of the starter may also get stuck on the sliding shaft.
The ideal solution for the starter is routine maintenance and servicing. This will help in getting rid of the corrosion and also lubricate the gears that may get stuck.

8. Check Engine Lights.
A warning or check engine light is the most common issue for US car, truck and SUV owners. These lights illuminate when the vehicle’s ECU (engine control unit) detects an error code triggered by a sensor. Since there are more than 200 possible warning code, having a professional mechanic complete a warning light inspection is the best way to determine the source and make the right repairs.

9. Worn Brake Pads.
Like any other moving part on your car, the brake system is intended to wear out over a designated period of time and one of the most dangerous problems a car can have.
So when they display any symptoms of issues, like squealing, squeaking or a soft brake pedal – it should be inspected by a professional mechanic as soon as possible.

10. Water Damage.
Liquids can also leak into the transmission, such as the case with water dripping from the radiator or the whole unit getting soaked through from serious flooding. However it got there, water mixing with transmission fluid is bad news. Even a very small amount of water can lead to transmission failure. This is because water directly damages the components of the transmission system, wearing away glue and rusting metal.

Car TalkHow To Know When Your Shock Absorber Is Failing by Carmartng(op): 9:44am On Jan 16, 2020
How to know when your shock absorber is failing

Have you noticed that when you’re driving on rough roads, you feel the effect of the rough roads in some cars more than others? Well, that's the work of your shock absorber. Your shock absorber dampens the effect of rough roads, thereby giving you more control over your ride and ultimately, a better driving experience.

However, the shock absorber, just like most parts of the vehicle, can get damaged. And also like other parts when they get damaged, your car stops functioning the way it is meant to. When your shock absorbers begin to fail, there are some signs that you would start noticing. The earlier you observe these signs, the better it is for you.

1. Your tyres begin to wear unevenly

Failing shock absorbers often lead to uneven wearing of tyres. Normally, the shock absorber makes your tyre to stand evenly and balanced on the road. But when it begins to fail, the part of the tyre that sees more of the ground begins to wear while the other parts won’t. This could be dangerous as it could damage your tyre completely. And assume you don't find out on time, the tyre could fail at the time you least need it to. \

2. Your ride begins to get bumpy
You would feel every single bump, pothole or unevenness on the road when your shock absorber is failing.

3. Your car takes longer to stop
Before your shock absorber started failing, you could hit your brakes when you were almost at an obstacle and your car would respond immediately. But without properly working shock absorbers, you now have to sight obstacles from afar and start matching on your brakes the moment you sight the obstacles. Even then, the car is just lazily slowing down. That’s one of the symptoms of shock absorbers that are done for.

4. Nosediving when braking, Back-squatting when accelerating
You would also notice that the front end of your car tips to the ground when braking like it is about to do a nosedive. Also, the same thing happens when you are accelerating, only in the opposite direction so that your car feels like it is squatting on its rear tyres.

5. Instability at high speeds
When you are driving at high speeds, you begin to feel less in control of the car as it becomes less stable on the road. The handling gets wackier and the car seems to want to veer off the direction you're going.

6. You hear distracting knocking noise
When you have bad shocks, you could find out that you are hearing some distracting knocking noise the moment you drive over a bump, pothole or any uneven road. This noise is often as a result of your car's chassis being hit by the meal coil springs.

7. Vibrations
If the piston or the valve in your shock absorbers get worn out, the shock absorber fluid begins to flow through either or both the piston and the valve. As a result, when you drive over bumps or rough roads, you would feel the vibration very clearly on your steering wheel. Thereby, making your drive one to be forgotten.

8. Fluid Leak
The way the shocks are designed, they usually have seals that prevent fluid from leaking. When the seal begins to allow fluid to leak through it, your shocks could lose a lot of fluid that would effectively stop them from working effectively.
What to do when your shock absorbers fail
Apart from inviting your mechanic to check it out, there isn't much more you can do about it. However, it is always good to be on the lookout for these symptoms so as to be able to discover faulty shocks in time.

Have a nice day.

Car TalkWhat To Do When You're Involved In A Road Accident by Carmartng(op): 4:45pm On Jan 15, 2020
Accidents happen every day, and that goes without saying. Some are fatal while some incur some bruises, scratches on the victims, and unnecessary noise of "ha! na God save una" from passersby. If one could choose to be involved in an accident, there's hardly anybody who would wish to be involved in the former.

Anyway, many people have their own accident stories. How they had a close shave with death or how their goods were stolen from their damaged vehicles at the accident spot. And nothing attracts people to the road like accidents do - like flies to a pile of dung. That's when you see this "accident specialist" dishing out blames and faults to everyone involved in the accident. Before you know it, the "sympathizers" join them to start thanking God like they were the ones involved in the accidents.

All these commotions could be disorienting for someone who just escaped death in an accident. It could get them more confused and not know what to do afterward. So, in case you are involved in an accident, what should you do?
1. Stop
Don't assume the damage was minimal and drive off. Park your vehicle and stop.
2. Check Yourself
Let this be the very next thing you should do. Don't panic. Don't think about your car. Don't start getting angry over the other party's error that led to the accident. Do not even try to scream for help yet.

Sometimes, the adrenaline that pumped through your body when the accident was still in motion could numb your body to pain. This means that you might not be able to feel pains immediately after the accident. That is why you should make sure to check yourself for any signs of injury. Can you lift your arm? Is it broken or just trapped beneath something? Can you lift your legs? Can you open your eyes? Are you bleeding from anywhere?

When you have answers to those questions, you would be able to know if you need immediate medical attention that is beyond the powers of mere first aid. If you need immediate attention, let that be your priority. Try to get help.
3. Check for signs of immediate danger on the scene
Have you ever seen movies where an accident occurs but the vehicle doesn't explode until some time after a collision, or something like that. Do you know that thing could actually happen in reality? There could be a fuel leak after the accident occurs that you are unaware of. The slightest spark could set blow things up.

So, make sure you check for signs of immediate danger if you can. If you can't, just try to move away from the accident spot.
4. Call the FRSC or the Police
No, your parents aren't the right people to call. Your wife isn't the right person. Neither are your relatives nor your friends the right people. Except! Except any of these people work for the FRSC or the Police. If they don't, then call the FRSC on any of these numbers: 122 or 07002255372. The passersby could be able to offer a little help here or there but they aren't professionals. They were not trained to handle such situations like the FRSC are trained to do. Let them be the first people you call.

When they arrive, make your statement as best as you can. Don't guess. If you don't have some details, tell them you don't. If you aren't certain about something, let them know.

Whether you believe you were at fault it not, call the FRSC. And that brings us to the next point.
5. Never admit that you were wrong
You were involved in the accident. You may not know everything you think you know to be able to determine who was at fault. That is why you shouldn't admit to being wrong. If you allow the other party involved in the accident to talk you into agreeing that you were in the wrong when, in fact, you weren't, you would be making matters worse for yourself when your insurance company gets involved.
6. Let your insurance company know about it
Make a report to your insurance company. They need to know. Whether you were at fault or not, they still need to know what's going on. Except you want to foot the bills of repairing the damages done to your vehicle and maybe those done to the other party's vehicle.
7. Seek medical attention
After you have checked yourself and made sure that there is no immediate threat to your life as advised in the second point above, you can go ahead and with the other points. But do not forget to still get to a clinic or a hospital to check yourself up. In a lot of cases, accident victims don't start feeling some pain until days after the accident. You don't have to wait until then.

If after you've been to the clinic, you start feeling some more pains that were previously undiscovered, visit the clinic again.

Car TalkElectric Vehicles In Nigeria - Are We Ready Now? by Carmartng(op): 2:57pm On Jan 13, 2020
Electric Vehicles in Nigeria - Are We Ready Now?

The age of electric vehicles is a fairytale playing out in reality. Today, vehicles are largely dependent on fuel, whether diesel or petrol. Unfortunately, with the way the combustion engines we have in our vehicles are designed, there isn’t always complete or perfect combustion. The consequence of this is that our vehicles release some gases in the air. Whether we know it or not, these gases are gradually harming our dear Earth. And this is exactly why electric vehicles are a fairytale: You can use your cars without emitting these Earth-depleting gases. Electric vehicles run on electricity, and when they run low on power, you simply charge them like you would charge your phone.

Today, many countries are already embracing this technology, and quickly. Norway, the leading country when it comes to the percentage of electric vehicles on its roads, said they want to go fully electric by 2025. This is quite feasible for them as they are halfway there already. However, what about our dear country, Nigeria? Are we joining this wave or are we going to wait and watch while these good things pass us by? This brings us to the first question.
Is Nigeria ready for electric vehicles?
I want to give a straight answer but it isn’t all that simple. There are a lot of factors to put into consideration. You probably already have an answer in your head, and that’s fine. Just spare me some minutes to explain myself.
Why Nigeria may not be ready for electric vehicles
Well, these reasons are quite obvious to Nigerians. The first reason that probably comes to mind is;
1. Lack of consistent electricity
A country that wants to depend on electricity to power a sector as critical and important as the transportation sector must have a consistent power supply. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for Nigeria. According to USAID, Nigeria “ has the potential to generate 12,522 megawatts (MW) of electric power from existing plants, but most days is only able to generate around 4,000 MW”. But you might want to argue that we could use a generator to charge the cars. Theoretically, you can. But logically, you shouldn’t. Generators run on fuel themselves. So if you are using a generator that runs on fuel to charge an electric vehicle, it defeats the purpose of using electric vehicles.
2. Politics
In April 2019, a bill that was meant to stop the use of petrol cars was dismissed. Let’s not forget how important “oil money” is to the affluence of many powerful Nigerians today. Also, Nigeria earns a lot from the foreign export of crude oil. You would expect any potential blockage that might want to cut down the gains from this “oil money” to be quickly trampled upon by the Ogas at the top, wouldn’t you?
3. Poverty
Who are we kidding? Nigeria, though has its own fair share of billionaires, is a poverty-stricken country. According to a report by the World Poverty Clock, Nigeria, which has a population of about 200 million, currently has 95million people living in extreme poverty. That’s about half the country not being able to feed themselves. In case you need a gentle reminder, hungry people don’t buy cars, petrol-fueled or electricity-powered.

For these reasons, it is safe to conclude that Nigeria is in no way ready for electric vehicles. But there are two sides to a coin.
Why Nigeria may be ready for electric vehicles
These aren’t things that are immediately obvious until you think deeper. Here are some reasons why Nigeria may be ready for electric vehicles:
1. Range
Many electric vehicles being produced have quite impressive ranges; how far they can go on a single charge. Most of them have ranges that range from 200km to 600km. Now that is quite impressive, especially if you’re travelling within a city. So let us assume that you are travelling from Badagry to Ita Oko Island in Lagos, two extreme ends of the State. According to Google Maps, the distance is 158km. The implication of this is that you can go this distance in the electric vehicles with the smallest ranges on just one full charge. Definitely, this is a good thing.
2. Cost of electric vehicles
Electric cars aren’t all that expensive. According to Quartz, the average cost of electric cars is $36,000 (about NGN13 million), and according to MoneyUnder30, the average cost of the normal car is $33,000 (about NGN12 million). As you can see, there isn’t much difference between the two costs.

3. Charging Cost
Tesla Model S, one of the most powerful electric cars today, has a battery capacity of 100kWh. Many other electric vehicles have battery capacities of less than 75kWh. In Nigeria, commercial electricity tariffs range from as low as 20NGN to about 64NGN per kWh, depending on the distribution company (disco). As a matter of fact, only a handful of discos charge as high as 64NGN, and this charge is only reserved for HV Maximum Voltage commercial uses. But for the sake of argument, let’s use the 64NGN charge for the high-end electric vehicle, Tesla Model S. To charge the Tesla Model S fully, it would cost 64NGN multiplied by 100kWh, equating to 6,400NGN. Do not forget that Tesla Model S has a range of 600km.

Toyota Corolla, one of the most fuel-efficient cars in Nigeria has a fuel economy of 12.75kilometers per liter within a city. For Corolla to go as far as 600km, it would cost about 6,900NGN at an average price of 147NGN per litre of petrol. This is a good bargain if you ask me, especially when you’re just comparing one of the most power-hungry of the electric vehicles to one of the most fuel-efficient of the petrol-fueled vehicles. Also, you can also have your own private charging spot for your own electric car, reducing the cost of electricity to as low as 4NGN per kWh.

By the way, just as there are public filling stations for petrol-fueled vehicles, there is something similar for electric vehicles. They are called Public Charging Stations.
4. Cost of repairs and maintenance
Unlike the petrol-fueled cars that are more likely to develop faults because of their many moving parts, electric cars don’t have as many moving parts. Consequently, there is less need to make repairs on electric cars.

Wrapping it all up
I guess you now understand my dilemma. For good reasons, you can argue for and against the fact that Nigeria is ready for electric vehicles.

However, here’s what I think if you want to buy an electric car: As an individual in Nigeria, you can buy an electric car if you can afford it. You just have to make sure you have your own charging space at your home. Also, whenever you want to use your electric car, make sure you do your calculations to know if your battery is charged well enough to take you to your destination and back home.

What do you think about all these? You can drop your comments in the comment section below.

Have an electrifying day!

Car Talk5 Mechanic’s Tools To Work On Your Own Car At Home by Carmartng(op): 9:09am On Dec 28, 2019
Believe it or not, not all car repairs are worth calling a car mechanic for. A good number of repairs can be handled by you, even if you aren’t good with DIY projects like this. Carrying out the repairs by yourself could save you some extra change. Besides, there’s this feeling of satisfaction I derive from doing these things myself, I don’t know about you.

However, if you know how to carry out basic repairs on your car but you don’t have the right set of tools to execute these repairs, you are as good as not knowing anything. Some tools, you could easily improvise if you are very creative. Some others, however, can not be improved. You either have them or you don’t.

And if you decide to go ahead and try to carry out a repair without the right set of tools, you would end up wasting your time or damaging your car in the best case scenario. And in the worst case scenario, you end up wasting your time and damaging your car.

Why don’t you help yourself and invest in some basic mechanic’s tools. These tools aren’t always expensive. And if some of them are, they would be worth the investment, trust me. I have taken the time to compile some of the most basic mechanic’s tools to work on your car at home. Help yourself to them.

1. Work Gloves
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Work-Gloves.jpg
This seems basic enough, doesn’t it? This simple tool is there to, you guessed right, protect your hands.

If you’re changing your car engine oil or replacing your brake pads, you would need a pair of work gloves to keep your hands clean. Except you don’t mind getting your hands dirty.

But even if you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, do you not also mind getting your hands burned? If you are working on parts that produce a lot of heat while driving, it only makes sense that you use gloves to protect your hands from the heat, right?

2. Tyre Pressure gauge
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Tyre-Pressure-gauge.jpg
A tyre pressure gauge could solve a lot of problems with your car.

Have you been feeling like you ride hasn’t been as smooth as it used to be? Maybe you realized that you have had to unusually refill your gas tank more often these days? Well, a tyre pressure gauge is there to help you out.

A tyre pressure gauge helps you diagnose tyre problems quickly and easily.

3. A set of spanners
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/A-set-of-spanners.jpg
This is single handedly one of the most important tools that you would need to work your car. The car has a lot of screws and nuts that need loosening. Without the appropriate spanners, all your efforts in trying to loosen any screw or not would be brought to naught.

There are many types of spanners so you should be careful when you’re choosing any for yourself.

4. A Jack and an appropriate stand
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/A-Jack-and-an-appropriate-stand.jpg
If you are not comfortable working under your car, it’s fine. But you’re still going to need the jack. It’s part of the tools that has been legally mandated in some countries to always have with you in your car. Who knows when you would get a flat tyre?

However, flat tyres are not the only reason why you would want to raise your car on jack. If you want to change your car Engine oil or you want to replace your brake pads, you would definitely need to raise your car with a jack.

Also, remember that you have to shock your tyres to prevent them from going anywhere when you are about to raise your car on a jack. This is important.

5. Set of screwdrivers
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Set-of-screwdrivers.jpg
A set of screwdrivers is just as important as any other tool on this list. I’m not just talking about some random screwdrivers here and there. I’m talking about a complete set of strong and durable screwdrivers that can be used to effectively work on your car. Don’t forget that anything that needs to be screwed in your car must be screwed tight. So, this calls for the use of a sturdy screwdriver.

Final Words
When you are trying to carry out any repairs on your car, you can’t just do without having these tools. That is why you should make sure to invest in these tools, and not just any kind of tools. You should invest in tools of high quality. Even if they cost much now, you most likely wouldn’t need to replace them very often in the future.

There are a good number of things that you can repair on your car all by yourself. However, I don’t expect you to be able to fix all car problems on your own, especially if you don’t know much about car repairs. It is then important to call your car mechanic to come to your rescue.

Car TalkTips On How To Drive Cars Safe In Bad Weather by Carmartng(op): 6:12pm On Dec 27, 2019
Nothing beats driving in warm weather, really. You can cruise around and, although not advisable, sometimes zone out without having many problems. The weather is clear so you don’t have any visibility issues. However, things could quickly get ugly when it starts raining and the weather becomes less friendly. No matter how prepared you are to avoid driving in the rain or in bad weather, you can’t always avoid it. And unfortunately, bad weather increases the chances of accidents. Suffice to say, safe driving in bad weather is really important. So, here are a few tips to arm yourself with when you are driving in the rain or in bad weather.

Safe Driving Tips
The tips that I have here are mostly for wet road conditions, and on very rare occasions, drastically reduced visibility due to fog on a cold harmattan morning. As we don’t have winter here in Nigeria, there’s no snow and all other bad weather conditions attached to winter. So, here we go.

1. Prepare for the bad weather conditions
Nothing beats preparation, honestly. Especially when your safety is involved, I think it’s just common sense to do everything you need to do to be safe. Make sure your windshield, windows, and mirrors are clean. You need to see everything worth seeing and see them clearly. Make sure that your windshield wipers are working properly. Also, check your tyres for any signs of damage. If they are old, replace them.

In addition, listen to weather forecasts. Technology has made a lot of things easier these days. You can easily check the weather forecast on your phone. Try to put your ears out for some incidents that could make you late for your appointments and try to see if there are alternative routes to avoid the incidents. Because when you are late, you tend to drive faster, and this isn’t advisable in bad weather conditions.

2. Drive safely by not driving at all… if you can
This is, in fact, the best way to be safe when you are driving in the rain or bad weather. Have you experienced weather conditions where you could barely see what’s right in front of you, talkless of trying to get around on a busy road? It’s just a smart decision to find a safe place to park your car and wait it out if you can.

If you can strictly live by this first rule, there’s no need to go ahead to read the rest of this article. Your work here is done. However, I understand that you might have urgent business to attend to and you don’t want to wait. So, let’s arm you with the second tip.

3. Take it slow, take it steady
Well, since you don’t want to stop you should at least drive slowly. You shouldn’t even negotiate this at all. Wet roads are slippery and slippery roads are deadly. Don’t let other drivers speeding around you intimidate you into joining them. Your first and most important responsibility is to get to your destination safely, not quickly. You should also stick to the far right side of the road.

4. Don’t get cocky. Use your headlights
When the weather gets bad, it’s a common thing for visibility to be reduced. In this situation, you have to use your headlights. To be safe, always ensure that your headlights are bright enough before you embark on trips. As a matter of fact, some countries make it a law to always use your headlights when your wipers are on, which is a good practice.

Headlights aren’t just for you to see ahead of you when you are driving, they are also for other drivers to see you. It would be a silly way to get yourself involved in an accident because an oncoming driver didn’t see you and rammed into you. Don’t take chances, even if you can see clearly, the driver coming in the opposite direction may not be seeing clearly.

5. Learn how to handle skids
Skids could be dangerous when you’re driving fast. But if you are going slowly, you shouldn’t encounter any outrightly dangerous skids. So, what do you do when your car skids on a wet road? You simply turn in the direction your car is skidding without pressing the brake and the gas pedals. This way, your car recovers from the skid by itself. Remember, don’t match that brake pedal, don’t match the gas pedal.

Now, imagine you were actually speeding and your car starts skidding on a wet road, you would most likely crash into something before you are able to stop.

6. Leave a reasonable distance between you and the car in front of you
I believe the heading has said it all. Your car takes longer to come to a stop when the road is wet than when the road is dry. So, it only makes sense for you to plan ahead and create some room for yourself when you’re driving in the rain

Final Words
Don’t mess around with your own safety or the safety of others. Drive safely.

Car TalkMost Purchased Cars This Christmas Season by Carmartng(op): 8:34am On Dec 19, 2019
Time has passed by us so quickly this year and it’s almost come to an end. A lot of companies are rounding up sales for the year already and are making reports of their sales for the year. And out of those reports, I bring you a list of the most purchased cars this year. See it as my Christmas gift to you.

This list was extracted from focus2move statistics. It is a list of cars that were bought brand new, not Tokunbo or Nigerian-used. I would do a list for the most purchased tokunbo and Nigeria Used cars but there aren’t any recognized report gathering bodies for these sales categories. So we would have to make do with the world statistics.

Without beating around the bush, here’s a list of the most purchased cars so far in 2019, my Christmas edition.

#5. Honda CR-V – Just more than 671,000 units sold this year alone

https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/5.-Honda-CR-V-Just-more-than-671000-units-sold-this-year-alone-1024x512.jpg
Honda CR-V – Just more than 671,000 units sold this year alone
The first of the crossover SUV was first produced from the factories of Honda in 1995. It is built upon the Honda Civic platform, with an SUV design. This mid-size SUV fits just in between the smaller Honda HR-V and Honda Passport in size

The “CR-V” stands for “Comfortable Runabout Vehicle”, and true to its name, the SUV is very comfortable. Since 1995 till now, five different generations of the CR-V have been rolled out. The first generation, 1995 – 2001, had 2.0 L engines. It was also available in the 5 speed AWD/FWD manual transmissions, as well as 4-speed automatic transmissions.

The most recent generation, the 5th generation, commenced in 2017 and is what is currently in vogue. It has different engine options, ranging from 2.4 L K24W I4 engine to 1.6 L N16 i-DTEC I4 engine. This generation has a massive 9-speed ZF automatic transmission.

#4. Honda Civic – Just more than 697,000 units sold this year alone

Honda Civic – Just more than 697,000 units sold this year alone
This is another Honda product that has come a long way. It used to be a subcompact vehicle. But over the ten generations of it’s production, it has now fully made the transition into the compact car segment.

The most recent generation of the model, 10th generation, started in 2015. It features a fastback exterior and an enticing interior. The dashboard is designed with completely digital “-ometers” and a 7 inch LCD screen.

Honda Civic exists in different variants to satisfy the various preferences of users. First, we have the coupe, then the sedan, the 5- door hatchback,Type R models and the SI trims. According to Honda themselves, the SI trim could eat up 60 mph in just 7 seconds, although other reliable car testers have found out that it could actually do better.

#3. Toyota Rav 4 – Just more than 671,000 units sold this year alone 768,000
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Toyota-Rav-4-Just-more-than-671000-units-sold-this-year-alone-768000-1024x512.jpg
Toyota Rav 4 – Just more than 671,000 units sold this year alone 768,000
Toyota RAV4 is another compact crossover SUV that is currently trending all around now. Manufactured from the factories of the popular Japanese automobile manufacturer, Toyota, it was the first ever crossover SUV to be manufactured. And if this SUV is still among the best sellers in 2019, 25 years after it made its debut, then you should know that there’s something spectacular about the SUV.

Toyota RAV4 strikes the perfect balance between satisfying the needs of both the SUV and the compact vehicles. SUVs are often needed for their enormous cargo space and high visibility, while compact cars are often fuel efficient. And needless to say, RAV4 does justice to all these.

Toyota RAV4 is currently in its 5th generation of production and is produced in 5 variants; XLE and XLE premium, LE, Adventure models and Limited models.

#2. Ford F-Series – Just more than 875,000 units sold this year alone
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Ford-F-Series-Just-more-than-875000-units-sold-this-year-alone-1024x512.jpg
Ford F-Series – Just more than 875,000 units sold this year alone
Welcome to the world of trucks, ruled by the Ford F-Series. Ford Motor Company has come really far since they started the commercial production of the F-Series back in 1948. These trucks are good or light and medium-duty work. In the F-Series alone, there are full-size pickup trucks, commercial vehicles, and chassis cab trucks.

Of all the vehicle models that fall under the F-Series, the most popular to date is the F-150 pickup truck, which is in its 13th generation of production. This generation started in 2015.

To make the F-150 increase drastically in fuel efficiency, the total weight of the pickup truck was reduced by a massive 750 pounds. This was achieved by replacing all the steel panels with the exception of the firewall, to aluminum. To make things more interesting, this has not in any way reduced the durability of the pickup truck.

#1. Toyota Corolla – Over 1 million units sold this year alone
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Toyota-Corolla-Over-1-million-units-sold-this-year-alone.jpg
Toyota Corolla – Over 1 million units sold this year alone
This is probably not a surprise. Toyota Corolla is the best selling car in the whole world right now. It has been frequenting the top of the list of the best selling cars in the world since 1974, just 8 years after it was first manufactured. By 2016, Toyota had sold 44 million Toyota Corolla units all across the world. In addition, the vehicle has gone through 12 generations of production and it still easily retains its monopoly over compact and subcompact cars.

Car Talk5 Most Expensive Cars In The World With Prices In Naira And Dollar December 2019 by Carmartng(op): 10:47am On Dec 16, 2019
You must have been seeing a lot of expensive cars all around. When some of these cars pass by you and you look them up on Google, your jaw drops. For me, my mind goes, “wow! 350 million nairas just passed by me!”. But have you really asked yourself this question: what is the most expensive car in the world?

Did you even know that cars can cost as high as billions of Naira? Let me not get ahead of myself. This article is a list of the most expensive cars in the world for the year 2019.

Straight to the list. The fifth most expensive car in the world is:

#5. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita – $4.8 million (Approx. 1.7 Billion Naira)
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Koenigsegg-CCXR-Trevita--1024x512.jpg
There were supposed to be just 3 units of this car in production. However, the high cost of manufacturing the car made the manufacturers reduce the total number of units to 2. And of the available two, Floyd Mayweather, the popular boxer, has one of them.

“Trevita” means “Three Whites” and the car has a diamond weave carbon weave which makes the car shine brightly when it is hit by sunlight. The luxury doesn’t just end with its diamond coating as the car boasts of a remarkable 4.8-liter V8 engine. This V8 engine has a massive 1004 horsepower and 797 pound-feet torque.

There are many other features that make this car as expensive as it is, including a dual carbon rear wing and an iconell exhaust system. The tire monitoring system are remarkable and the carbon-ceramic brakes are sharp enough to quickly stop a car that can move as fast as this one. With a maximum attainable speed of 254mph and a quick acceleration, it can go from 0 to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds.

#4. Bugatti Divo – $5.8 million (Approx. 2 Billion Naira)
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Bugatti-Divo-1024x512.jpg
If you are familiar with expensive cars, you probably already know that Bugatti would make this list. This sports car is named after a racer who raced for the car manufacturer in 1920. Only 40 units of this car are produced. If you were probably thinking you would get one for yourself, this might break your heart. All the 40 units have been sold out to pre-chosen Bugatti customers.

With a quad-turbocharged W16 unit engine, the car hits a massive 1479 horsepower with 1180 pound-feet torque. The crazily fast acceleration picks the car from 0 to 62 mph in 2.4 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 236 mph.

#3. Maybach Exelero – $8 million (Approx. 2.8 Billion Naira)
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Maybach-Exelero--1024x512.jpg
This car was first unveiled in 2005 and it has had quite a journey since then.

A twin-turbo V12 engine that hits 690 horsepower comes with this luxurious car. The highest attainable speed of the car is 218 mph. However, when compared with other cars on this list it has a slow 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds. A befitting anti-lock braking system puts the car to stop.

The interior of the Maybach Exelero is nothing if not a lavish one. Popular hip hop article, Birdman, purchased this car back in 2011.

#2. Rolls-Royce Sweptail – $13 million (Approx. 4.7 Billion Naira)
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Rolls-Royce-Sweptail-1024x512.jpg
Except you want to make a special request to Rolls Royce to make this car for you, just as the only and undisclosed owner of this car did, don’t even think about buying it. It took Rolls Royce 4 years to manufacture the only available Sweptail. It is said that the owner wanted a car that looked like a yacht and then Rolls-Royce Sweptail was made.

The interior of the car was intricately designed with handcrafted wood and Dark Spice leather. Its 6.6-litre V12 engine can only go as fast as 153mph.

#1. Bugatti La Voiture Noire – $18.7 million (Approx. 6.7 Billion Naira)
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Bugatti-La-Voiture-Noire.jpg
We’ve gotten to the top. The most expensive car in the world for 2019 is the Bugatti La Voiture Noire “The Black Car”. The story behind the production of this car is that it was produced as a homage to a rare Bugatti luxury car that went missing in World War II.

A carbon fiber body makes helps this car to be light enough to accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.4 seconds before hitting a maximum speed of 249mph. The engine is an 8-litre quad-turbo engine with a horsepower of 1500 and a torque of 1180 pound-feet.

Wrapping it all up
The most expensive cars in the world aren’t cars that the majority of us see every day. We just have their pictures to fantasize about. Anyway, there is your list of the most expensive cars in the world.

As it seems, any car that has tangible things to contribute in performance, fuel economy, ability to glide through rough roads without a scratch, and luxury, would have a remarkable number of loyal customers here.

As it is, cars are purchased every single day here. Brand new, tokunbo, and even Nigerian used cars are all making massive sales.

G-Wagon, as it is also commonly called, is a popular vehicle in Nigeria. Some might argue that it doesn’t have the sleekness and curves that should make it look beautiful. However, I suppose you could say that its beauty is in its price, if you agree that “expensive” is sometimes synonymous to “beautiful”. Mercedes Benz G-Class is one that is commonly driven by the elite because of its expensiveness. As a result, it could be regarded as a show-off car.

In performance and luxury, Mercedes Benz G-Class is worth every pretty penny spent on it. Or what else would you expect from a vehicle as expensive as this:

Price Range: N70 million – N200 million

Apart from the respect you earn from owning a Range Rover Sport, the performance of the vehicle, coupled with the kind of luxury that only this vehicle can provide, make it a great purchase.

The fact that it makes it to our list of the most purchased vehicles for 2019 in Nigeria only shows that Nigerians love good things. Abi, who no like better thing?

Price Range: N45 million – N84 million

I guess you have been anticipating this car on this list already. Well, here it is. Honda is popular auto brand all over the world and in Nigeria. A lot of Honda car models are well purchased here in Nigeria but none is as highly purchased as the Honda Accord. Honda Accord could easily be in contention for the most popular vehicle with the likes of the next two cars on this list. However, its high maintenance cost is one reason why it isn’t as purchased as those cars.

Price Range: N8 million – N15 million

2: Toyota Camry
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Toyota-Camry-1024x446.jpg
Toyota Camry is, without a doubt, one of the most popular models in Nigeria. As a matter of fact, there’s hardly a day that you wouldn’t find a Toyota Camry, even on a less busy road. The affordability, performance, maintenance cost, and fuel economy that it possesses are what make it a highly purchased vehicle in Nigeria.

Price Range: N15 million – N30 million

1: Toyota Corolla

This probably doesn’t come as a surprise to you. Toyota, till today, has enjoyed a large number of loyal customers in Nigeria alone. And apart from Camry, Corolla is one of their main flagship models. Toyota Corolla is a popular one in Nigeria and it has been for as long as one can remember. This car, like Camry, is a combo of great performance, sleekness and affordability.

Step By Step Instructions On How To Change Your Car Engine Oil Yourself
Your engine oil is one of the most important things you need to look out for in the car. Without the oil to lubricate the constantly busy parts of your engine, your engine could be in trouble. That is why this piece is dedicated to how to change your car engine all on your own.

Now, you're probably asking. Why do I need to change my engine oil? Well, here why:
Why You Need To Change Your Engine Oil
1. Your engine consists of parts that are continuously moving and rubbing against one another. Without the engine oil to lubricate and smoothen things out among the parts rubbing against one another, friction could take over. And when friction takes over, it's always bad news.
2. After constant use, the oil wears out. You could say it gets tired. It isn't able to lubricate the engine parts as it used to, it becomes really dirty, and it reduces in quantity. And if nothing is done, it would lead to the friction problem in the first point above.
3. Well, it wouldn't kill you to maintain your car yourself, would it? With proper car maintenance, you could escape some common car problems.

Now that you know why you ought to change your oil periodically, the next question that is probably on your mind is "how often should I change my oil?"

This is dependent on quite a lot of things actually. It depends on how old your engine is, the way you drive, the path you drive on, and many other factors. However, it is safe to change your car engine after every 3000 to 5000 miles you put on the car for non-synthetic oil. With synthetic oil, you could push the limits and hit about 10,000 miles before you change your oil.
Needed Tools and Materials
Of course, you don't intend to just dive under your engine and suck out the engine oil with your mouth. Or wait. Do you?

As usual, you need the right set of tools.
● Wrench
● Rubber gloves
● A jack. And depending on how to level the ground is, you may need a jack stand too.
As for the materials, you would need
● The oil, of course.
● Oil filter
● Funnel
● Oil drain pan or just any container to collect the oil in

Without further ado, let's get you to change your engine oil.
Step 1: You need to check the type of oil needed
Check your car manual for the type of oil your car engine uses and buy that particular oil type. However, if you can't find your manual or you didn't buy the car new, using just any type of oil isn't a bad idea too. As long as it isn't a low-quality oil.

Oil producers often make their oils differently. Some add some extra stuff to make the oil do some more stuff. You know, all those branding jargon. That is why there is always a recommended oil by your car manufacturer for your car. However, it isn't necessary to follow this step.

Step 2: Let the oil warm-up
You want to drain the oil in your engine when it is warm, not when it is hot or cold. If you just used your car, you could just turn it off and leave the oil to cool down. If the car has been sitting around for more than an hour, you should just start the car and leave it idle for about 10 minutes. This gives the oil enough time to warm up.

Warm oil flows easily. Cold oil doesn't. Hot oil flows easily but it could burn you badly. Get it?

Step 3: Jack up your car
Here's the next thing you need to do. Jack up your car or drive it onto a ramp that gives you access to underneath the car. Whatever you do, make sure the car sits well on the jack and is very stable. I don't recommend that you use those flimsy jacks that come with your car.

Step 4: Draining the oil
You may have to crawl underneath your car to find your drain plug. Don't worry, it's just less than 1 meter from the front of your car. The drain plug is often located underneath the oil pan which is also underneath your engine.

Next, slide the drain pan under the plug and open the plug with a fitting wrench in a counterclockwise direction. Make sure the drain pan is big enough to contain the oil without spilling. You should wait for the oil to drain out completely. Close up the plug after you're done.

Step 5: Replace the oil filter
After draining the oil in the oil pan, the next thing to do is to locate the oil filter and replace it. The oil filter position varies from car to car. It shouldn't be too far away from your oil pan though.

Place the drain pan beneath the oil filter before you remove it by turning it in a counterclockwise direction. The oil filter is usually black, blue or white. You'll know recognize it when you see it.

On the new oil filter, dip your hand in the replacement oil and smear the oil thinly on the gasket of the filter. You could say it is done to prepare the oil filter to get to work. Pour some oil in the oil filter too. Screw the new oil filter tightly into place.

Step 6: It's time to pour in the new oil
You can get out of underneath your car now. Your time underneath the car is over. Locate the oil cap on top of the engine. Open it, place a funnel and pour in the new oil.

Screw the oil cap tight and check for any leakages underneath your car. If there are, try to clean it up. You are supposed to use the dipstick to check the oil level about 5 minutes after you put in the oil. But while you wait, you can go to the next step.

Step 7: Start your engine
When you start the engine, check your dashboard to see if the check-oil-pressure light is on. If it isn't, you're good to go. If it is, it simply means there's probably a leak somewhere or the oil level is just not high enough. Leave your engine on idle and check for what is causing the light to be on.

Don't forget to check the oil level with the dipstick to confirm that the oil is on the appropriate level.
Conclusion
Well, that wasn't so hard, was it? You can save yourself some money by doing this yourself. By the way, you should prepare to get dirty when you do this. There are other car problems you can solve yourself, like, fixing your power steering wheel.

And that's all I have for you on how to change your car engine oil yourself. Do have a great day.

Car TalkSave Time And Money: 5 Things You Can Repair In Your Car By Yourself by Carmartng(op): 1:03pm On Dec 03, 2019
Cars could be funny at times. You sometimes feel there's something major going wrong with your car. When you then visit your car mechanic, they just do some minor adjustments that don't take up to 10 minutes and they charge you. You begin to feel kind of silly because you know you could have carried out that repair by yourself and still have saved time and money.

If you've ever been a victim of this, you are, without doubt, in the right place. I'll be mentioning some common car problems and how to quickly resolve them yourself without wasting time and money. Do you feel you aren't so great with do-it-yourself projects? There's nothing to worry about. These repairs don't necessarily require expertise.
Before You Attempt Any Repairs
It is almost impossible to repair anything in your car if you don't have the right tools to do it. With the right set of tools and equipment, you can easily make the necessary repairs that your car needs.

The tools you would need for these repairs include
● A jack
● A wrench
● A complete set of screwdrivers
● A tire pressure gauge
● And if you don't want to get your hands dirty, a pair of gloves.
Without further ado, let's head to the interesting part.
How To
1. Replace Your Battery
The battery is the power source for all the electrical works of your car, including your ignition system. Without a properly working battery, you can't start your car. Luckily, replacing your car battery is one of the simplest things you can do on your car.

The first thing to do is to remove the cables that are connected to your battery. You can do this by first loosening the bolts that were used to tighten the cables to the terminals. Make sure you remove the black cable first. This cable is often the one connected to the negative terminal.

Lift out the battery when and put in the replacement. That's all.
2. Replace Your Wipers
When you notice that your wipers are not moving across your windshield as smoothly as they used to, this suggests that they need to be replaced.

Replacing your wipers is quite easy. However, you must first find a wiper that fits your windshield. Go to where they sell car parts and buy the specific replacement wipers for your car brand, model and model year.

After you do this, all you have to do is remove the old wipers. Some wipers can be removed by pulling a latch or pushing a button on the base of the wiper. Some others need some pinching and pulling. You can then fix in the new wipers.
3. Clean or Replace Your Engine Air Filter
The way your car engine is designed, it mixes fuel and air together before the spark plug creates a spark that starts the combustion process. The air that is sucked into your car is usually filled with a lot of impurities. Your air filters are there to clean out these impurities.

Replacing your air filter is a simple process. All you have to do is to open your car bonnet, locate the air filter box, remove the old air filter, and replace it with the new.

Before disposing of the old air filter, however, check to see if it's not too dirty. If it isn't, you can just make sure you clean it properly and keep it for future use.
4. Replace Your Headlights
Dim headlights are not safe to use. You shouldn't manage them like that. The moment you find out that your headlights aren't as bright as they used to be, they need to be replaced.

All you have to do is to buy the same headlight bulb that was designed for your particular car. Just like the wipers, the bulb has to be precisely for your own car make, model and year.

Simply unplug the old bulb and plug in the new one.
Caveat: when you're plugging in the new bulb, make sure you don't do it with your bare hand. This could cause the bulb to not last for as long as it should.
5. Change Your Tyres
Do you have flat tyres? You don't need a vulcanizer to change them for you. As long as you have a spare tire (as you always should), and the right set of tools, you're good to go.

Firstly, use your jack to lift up your car at the side where you have the flat tyre. Remove the wheel cover to expose the screws that hold the tyre to the car. Loosen these screws, replace the tyre and screw it back up. Ensure it is tightly screwed. Put the wheel cover back in its place and you're good to go.

Another common repair you can carry out on you at is fixing your power steering wheel.

Conclusion
Now that you know the common problems that could happen to your car and how to carry out the appropriate repairs, don't you already feel good about yourself?

It is always a good thing to maintain your car. A car that is well maintained serves you well.

Good day.

Car TalkCommon Car Problems Every Driver Ought To Know About by Carmartng(op): 1:06pm On Dec 02, 2019
Permit me to start with a fact. Did you know that according to NBC News, a car that was bought brand new, just pick anyone at random, has an average lifespan of 8 years? However, a well-maintained car that was also bought new has a lifespan of 15 years. Almost double the lifespan of an overall average car.

This article, however, isn't so much about car maintenance, although you could say that some of the things here are good for car maintenance. What this article is about is how to recognize some symptoms of faults in your car and what to do about them. If you observe these signs on time and make due repairs without delay, your car would fall in the category of the 15 years lifespan.

The good thing about this is that you may not even intend to use the car for as long as 15 years. But you would be confident that the car would be in good shape for whatever you want to do with it. Whether you want to sell it or give it out to someone.

Without further ado, here are some of the most common problems that you would find in cars that you should know about.

Blinking Check-Engine Light
Suffice to say, your engine is one of the most important parts of your vehicle. The moment it develops a fault, it often costs relatively much to repair or even replace. That is why automakers specifically put a check-engine indicator on your dashboard, right in front of you.

When the check engine light is blinking, it is mostly a signifier an engine misfire. There are a number of possible causes for an engine misfire. The moment you notice your check engine light blinking, find your way to a car mechanic ASAP.

Check-Engine Light Remains On
This is another engine problem indication that cannot be ignored. This may or may not be as serious as the blinking check-engine light indication but it shouldn't be taken for granted all the same.

When your check-engine light remains on, it could have been caused by different things. It could be that your car has spark plug issues or a loose petrol cap. A faulty oxygen sensor could also keep your check-engine light on.

If you find out that the cause of the lit check engine indicator is an obvious thing like a loose petrol cap, you should fix this immediately. Otherwise, pay a visit to your car mechanic ASAP.

Your Car Wouldn't Start
When your car doesn't start, it is mostly due to your battery. Your battery powers all of the electric needs of your car. If your battery has issues, you aren't going anywhere.

When this happens to you, it could have been be caused by a drained battery or corroded terminals. Try to clean the terminals and the cables connected to them. If this doesn't help, visit your car mechanic but prepare for a possible battery replacement.

AC Air Smells Bad
If you have searched your car for the source of the bad odour in your car and you didn't find a rotten egg or a dead rat in it, then your air conditioner is the culprit. Sometimes it gets so much that it becomes unbearable.

This is often caused by a faulty AC accumulator. Another symptom of a faulty AC accumulator is a rattling noise when you put on your AC.

Sluggish Engine
If you notice that your car is responding sluggishly to acceleration, this is also a signifier of a faulty engine. A possible cause of this is an inappropriate air-fuel mixture. When this happens, all you need to do is clean your fuel injectors, air and fuel filters.

However, if the problem persists, see you car mechanic. It could be that the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) has a problem. As a matter of fact, it could have been caused by a number of other things.

Smoke From Under Your Bonnet

This is never a good sign and it will never be. Firstly, your car shouldn't have heated up to this level, especially if you have a working temperature gauge on your dashboard. The temperature gauge is really sensitive. The moment it senses that the engine is being exposed to inappropriate level of heat, it cries out by hitting the red marker.

Vehicle overheating is something that could happen when the cooling fan is not doing its job properly or not doing it at all. Check if your cooling fan is working properly. Afterwards, check to see if the engine coolant system is low on water. This could also cause an engine to overheat.

However, you should be careful when dealing with overheating issues in your car. This heat could burn and scar you permanently if messed with.

Your ride becomes less smooth, more bumpy
You used to cruise over potholes and bumps like they were nothing. You wouldn't even feel the slightest discomfort. All of a sudden, driving over a tiny rock would jolt you around on your seat. This is a sign that your shock absorbers are in shock (sorry). They need to be replaced.

Leaks
This is another common problem cars are faced with. It is possible that one fluid or the other is leaking in your car. The moment you notice this, check to see if it's something you can fix yourself. Otherwise, let your car mechanic do the job.

Putting It All Together
It's a good thing that you already know about some of the most common problems cars have and how they show it. You shouldn't be slow to get these issues fixed. If you want to properly maintain your car and keep it in good shape, always pay attention to it.

Do you know about other common car problems?

Car TalkDIY Tips On How To Fix Your Power Steering Problem by Carmartng(op): 10:24am On Nov 29, 2019
Your power steering is probably one of the least talked about parts of the car. And when it starts malfunctioning, it is always quite frustrating. You just find out that steering your vehicle is unnecessarily hard. Many would just keep ignoring this problem until it becomes too late and it costs a pretty penny to repair.

Auto technology has come a long way from what it used to be. Electric power steering systems used to be only in the luxurious cars of the old times but today, you'll find them in a lot of cars.

Is your power steering wheel giving you some problems? This article is all about how to fix you power steering yourself. Yes, you can do it yourself if you have the right tools.

What Tools Do You Need?
You need the following tools to help you make necessary repairs to your power steering system.
● Car jack
● Crowbar
● A bright source of light. A torchlight is preferable.
● Cleaning towels to get rid of grease and grime
● Adjustable wrench

How to Fix Your Power Steering Problems
1. Add some more power steering fluid
A low level of power steering fluid could cause some frustrating inconveniences when you're trying to steer. Check your fluid reservoir with a dipstick. If your fluid is too low, make sure you top it up.

Also, you should watch out for leaks. Just check the floor underneath your car to see if there are any leaks. A leak could occur where the air is being drawn into the power steering system. You will hear some whining sounds from your power steering pump when this occurs. The steering fluid will also appear to be foamy.

To fix this problem, you just have to replace the hose that connects the fluid reservoir and the pump if the hose is damaged. There are some cases where the hose is just okay but the clamps that hold the hose are loose. You should re-tighten the hose clamps properly.

If you notice this leak in time, try to fix it immediately. Do not wait till you start hearing the whining sound before you do something about it.

You can call your car mechanic to help fix it if you aren't confident in being able to fix it yourself.

2. Unclog the power steering hose if it is clogged
The hydraulic fluid that I talked about above is an important part of the whole power steering system. Apart from the difficulty in steering that you would experience, you may also hear some whining sounds if the hose is clogged.

Check to see if the hose is clogged. Unclog it by flushing it but if you're unable to get rid of the clogging, replace the hose.

3. Get a new power steering fluid pump
The power steering fluid pump helps to pump fluid into the system to ensure that the system is working smoothly. Once the fluid pump gets damaged or stops working, the system is cut out of fluid supply. This could end up damaging some more parts of the power steering system.

So, the moment you notice that the fluid pump is not doing its job well enough, replace it before it causes some more problems to your power steering system.

4. Replace the power steering belt
Like the other problems mentioned before, this one can also be discovered by the noise it makes. In this case, it is screeching noise, especially when it rains. The noise is usually loud enough to quickly draw one's attention.

This problem can be solved by either adjusting the belt if that's all it needs or replacing the belt entirely if it is worn and brittle.

Recap
Whenever your steering wheel starts rebelling against you when you're trying to turn it, make sure you check it out. First, check the fluid. If the fluid level is low, replace it.

Next, check the hose and the pump. Do some unclogging when needed and some tightening and re-clamping when required. Ultimately, make repairs when you should. It's part of the best car maintenance practices.

Repairing your power steering system should be easy to do if you are good at DIY projects. However, if you don't want to get your hands dirty, you might as well call your car mechanic. These repairs shouldn't cost much if they are promptly taken care of.

Final thoughts
Now that you know how to fix your power steering system issues, you should also check out other car maintenance tips on carmart Nigeria blog that could be useful to you.

As always, your opinions and inputs are highly appreciated. Please feel free to drop them in the comments section and I'll be glad to attend to you.

Car TalkWhat Is The Best Way To Sell My Used Car? 5 Ways To Sell Your Car by Carmartng(op): 6:40pm On Nov 26, 2019
So, you want to get a new ride? Well, good for you. Cheers. But do you know what to do with your old car? Wait. Let me rephrase the question. Do you know how much that it could yield you if you put your used car up for sale?

Selling used cars is a really common thing today, what with the help of the internet and all. Who is going to buy the car, however, is determined by a lot of factors. And among them is the most obvious one: the condition of the car. Did you maintain the car properly?

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. If you are looking to place your used cars for sale and you aren't sure how to sell it, you're at the right place.

1. Sell it on Carmart

Carmart Nigeria is one of the safest and surest places to sell a used car online. This is a very good option for you if you don't know whom to sell your car. Also, if you want to have access to a very large customer base, then Carmart is where to go. You will find buyers from all over Nigeria.

The steps are really simple. Create an account with them, click the "sell now" option and you will find further steps on what to do from there. The best part is that you get to place your own price tag on your car.

By the way, would you buy a car online instead of offline?

Here's a free tip on how to sell your used car quickly on this platform: Make sure to upload only the nicest pictures of the car. As you are probably going to be selling your car to someone far away, the first thing that would convince a buyer to buy from you is the picture of the car.

2. Find someone to buy it yourself
Well, if you already know someone you want to sell it to, then, by all means, go ahead. If you don't, you could put out word of mouth and some flyers.

Another way is to tell your car mechanic. Chances are that your car mechanic knows someone who would want to buy a car.

There is a slight disadvantage to selling your used car in this way though: It may take some time. Getting a buyer could take weeks or even months. So, if you are running against time, I do not recommend that you sell it this way.

3. Trade it in for a new one
With this method, you can sell your car and get a new one all at once. There are some dealerships that allow you to trade your old car for another one.

All they have to do is check your car out and determine its worth. They either give you another car that is worth the same as yours or they ask that you pay some extra money to get a better car.

However, it is the best practice to do thorough research about the new car before you trade it in.

Is the new car worth the price the dealer says it is? Is the dealer trying to peg a lower value to my old car so that they can get more from me? Or are they trying to overprice the new car? These are the questions you should ask yourself. You are allowed to be skeptical.

To increase your chances of getting the new car at a reasonable bargain, you should learn how to negotiate car prices with the seller.

4. Sell it in parts.
You are probably thinking to yourself, "my car is really old and rickety. I wouldn't buy my own car even if my life depended on it". Well, you should think again. That the car doesn't look good anymore doesn't mean that there aren't any useful parts in it.

There are about 30,000 parts that make up a car. So, are you saying that out of 1,2,3,4,...,30,000 parts, not even one is useful?

Get a mechanic that you trust. It could even be a car parts dealer. They will turn your car parts in for some change. This might not yield you a whole lot of money. But you really weren't thinking you could make a fortune out of that old thing, were you?

5. Make use of Facebook Marketplace
The marketplace is a platform developed by Facebook to help you sell anything. You will find a lot of items for sale on Marketplace. Some are selling houses, furniture, and many other things. Some others place their used cars for sale.

All you have to do is to put in the details of your car and wait for buyers to hit you up. Just make sure that you do not put out the wrong information to quickly gain buyers, no matter how tempting it is.

Marketplace leans on the popularity of Facebook to help put your car on display for lots of buyers out there, as long as they have a Facebook account.

To wrap it all up
Your used car has worth, no matter how little it is. If you don't have anyone to give, place your used cars for sale. Don't just dump it somewhere. Get some money out of it. And don't forget, if you are buying a tokunbo car in Nigeria, make sure that all necessary documents are complete.

As always, your opinions are highly valued. Do drop them in the comments section below.

Have a great day.

Car TalkNegotiating Car Price With A Dealer: Top Tips To Know by Carmartng(op): 11:58am On Nov 25, 2019
How To Negotiate A Car Price With A Seller: Negotiating Like A Pro

Chances are that you have had to negotiate item prices a couple of times in your life. Negotiating is part of our daily life. The seller wants their item to sell at a profitable price, you want to buy at the lowest reasonable price. So, you both start haggling back and forth until you find a mutually satisfactory bargain. Negotiating is involved in every trade, even when you want to buy a car.

For brand new cars, there might not be enough space to negotiate prices. There is always a standard market price or something like it. If you want to buy used cars, however, you are on fertile ground for price negotiations. You can even find used cars for sale online or offline.

So, do you want to buy a used car without being overcharged? Do you want to know how to handle car price negotiations like a pro whether it is your first time it not? Well, you have come to the right place.

Do your homework thoroughly: Research like crazy
This is the very first step for obvious reasons. You want to have an idea of what car you to buy its price range before you walk to a car dealership. Otherwise, they will eat you raw, eat your money raw, all with smiling faces. Don't blame them though. Just like you, they are trying to get the best price they can get from the car sale.

Visit websites that have used cars for sale. Research on different car models and their prices. Most preferably, the particular brand of a used car that you want. This independent research gives you an idea of what to expect.

When you're going to buy your car at the dealership, go there like someone that knows their onions.

Do your fieldwork thoroughly: Visit different dealerships
This always works.

Visiting different dealerships would help you get the best deals. In fact, If you can even drop hints about how you have been to other dealerships and how you might return to them if you're not satisfied with the car price your current dealership is offering. The negotiator would then be trying to beat the prices of dealerships.

Stay level headed. Don't fall for sweet words
After you have done your research and are well armed with all the knowledge and facts that you need, the last thing you need is for your emotions to ruin things for you.

The car sales representative or the car seller (or whoever you're negotiating with) would definitely try to sweet talk you into getting the car at their own price. It is their responsibility. However, it is also your responsibility to remain calm and focused.

If you did your research well, there's most likely nothing they would tell you about the car that you didn't already know. Stick to the facts of your research.

Know when to make your purchase
There are times when you would most likely get the best deals. This is when you should visit a dealership to buy used cars. You can also buy new cars at these periods but remember I said earlier that there usually isn't much to negotiate on new cars.

For instance, dealerships often have timely sales goals to meet. It could be in every four months, 6 months or annually. Visiting them towards the end of these periods could increase your chances of getting better deals.

Also, buying on a weekend is out of it. During workdays, most dealerships often have fewer customers. So, when you visit on a workday you would have more time to convince the negotiator.

Negotiate the price in bits
The car seller would want you to negotiate the total price. You should not allow this. Negotiate every stated price every step of the way. This may take a lot of time but it would be worth it eventually.

Look out for imperfections
Inspect the car thoroughly. Especially if you're buying a used car, check for scratches, damages, or just about anything that gives you a hint about the past of the car.

You may be asking yourself, "why do I need to look for imperfections on the car I want to buy?"

Well, doing this gives you a bargaining chip. Discovering damages like that would help reduce the perceived worth of the car. Hence, reducing the car price and allowing you to be able to negotiate some more.

You could even take it a step further and go along with a professional car mechanic. Have them inspect the car and report whatever isn't perfect about the car. That's some extra bargaining chip for you.

Final words
At first, this could be quite intimidating for you, especially if you're new to this. However, if you stick to these guidelines you shouldn't have any problems getting a cheap car price. You just have to be confident. Even if you aren't, act like it.

What next?
Get along now and start searching for your dream car. Also, when you intend to buy a car online, you might not have enough space for price haggling, but you are most likely to get a cheap price online.

Don't forget to drop your questions or inquiries in the comments section below. I am more than eager to attend to you.

Car TalkCar Maintenance Tips: Benefits And What To Check by Carmartng(op): 5:34pm On Nov 22, 2019
It is surprising that a lot of people can spend an eternity online trying to research car reviews and do some analytic permutations with a bit of complex algebra, just to decide what car to buy. But not many people think about the ease of maintenance of the car.

You may think that thinking about car maintenance before car buying is putting the cart before the horse. Well, I should tell you right now, these two should be researched and put into consideration before buying any car. I can almost hear another person thinking, “Well, I’ve got my car mechanic for all that. Why do I have to bother myself?” Who says you need a car mechanic to do some basic maintenance?

You may already have this question in some far away place at the edge of your mind but I’ll help you articulate them here.

What are the benefits of car maintenance?
Long lifespan
Have you ever got into a well maintained car? If you have then I bet we would agree on this: The car often defies its age. Quick safety tip for you though: if the owner of the car is someone like my uncle who jumps at every moment to brag about his car and maintenance skills, by all means avoid complimenting his car.

Generally, well maintained cars tend to last longer than those that aren’t well maintained.

Reliability
Is it just me or have you also noticed that you car knows how to pick the worst of days to break down? A well maintained car has a low chance of breaking down on the road. And by extension, you are confident in the fact that your car wouldn’t add to the list of things that went wrong on your worst days.

Early detection of fatal faults
In the course of doing constant maintenance of your car, you may discover something strange and wasn’t always the case. Something that you can’t handle your. When you see this, you can quickly call on your car mechanic to save the day before the fault multiplies.

Repairs will cost less
If it eventually comes to repairs, and can’t always avoid this, you know you wouldn’t have to spend much. Just a little bit to put some things straight.

Safety
Things to check in your car
● Check the air filter
This might be a seemingly small component of your car but it is very relevant to the smooth running of your car. Your car needs to draw in air to help combust your fuel. This is filled with a lot of rubbish, dust and impurities that could badly hurt your car. The air filter filters out these unwanted components of the car and makes sure that the cleanest possible air is what makes it to your fuel.

As this air filter is what stands between you and the dirt, it’s bound to get dirty. All you have to do is change it. You can do this yourself or you could as well invite your car mechanic to do this for you.

● Check the oil and its filter
Your car needs a lot of lubrication to keep it running smoothly. You engine needs this the most. A lot of parts rub against one another, and without adequate lubrication the friction could damage your engine.

Engine repairs are always costly. To prevent having to settle unnecessary expenses, check your oil and oil filter. If the oil is starting to get black, you need to change it immediately.

● Take care of the tyres
The tyres are the parts of your car that do the dirtiest and job. Over use, the air pressure in them is bound to lessen. Too low air pressure in the car might make steering hard for you. It also reduces that grip of the tyres on the road.

The right tyre pressure is about 30psi. Anything less isn’t good enough. Just make sure it is kept at this level or close to it. And for your safety, do this very often.

● Inspect your car battery
The battery powers all electrical systems in your car. You couldn’t even start a car without a battery. Inspect the terminals. Clean them if you have to. Replace the battery every 2 to 3 years.

● Don’t joke with the brakes
You know what the brakes are for. You know how important they are. You know what would happen without them. If you know those three, then you should know that you ought not joke with the brakes.

Check the brake pads every month or so. If they need replacement, do not compromise on cost. Make sure you do the needful.

Final Words
Whatever these things cost in time and in money, I can assure you that a full fledged repair would cost way more. That is why you should not compromise on the little time and money it may cost you to do these minor checks.

Any extra input, enquires or questions would be appreciated and eagerly attended to if dropped in the comments section below.

Have a great day.

AutosBuying Cars Online Or Offline; Which Is Better And More Trustworthy? by Carmartng(op): 10:47am On Nov 13, 2019
So, you're thinking of buying a car and you don't know what brand you want yet. You're then thinking of visiting a car dealership to choose a car you find and like. You feel this is a better option as opposed to buying the car online because you will get to see the car and be sure if what you're purchasing. You don't want to run into scams on buying cars online. This is the traditional car purchasing method most people are familiar with. It is slow but there's comfort in familiarity, they say.

However, your crazy tight work schedule is keeping you busy and without much spare time to go car shopping. Moreover, you aren't even sure you'll find the car you want at that particular dealership. Buying the car online suddenly becomes a more attractive option to you. But some questions start popping up. Can I trust an online car dealership? Will they deliver good cars to me? Can I find a used car for sale online?

If you find yourself in this situation, being faced with the option of buying either online or offline, here's something for you. Which is better? Which is more trustworthy? Buying cars offline or online.

Advantages of buying cars offline
The familiarity in human-human interaction
For a lot of people, chatting and negotiating with humans beats interacting with computers by far. When you visit a car dealership, you can interact and haggle prices with the car sales representative. Especially if you know that your negotiating skills are top notch. You know that you would most likely get a price that would suit your pocket.

However, if you were to buy on the internet, there's simply no way to haggle price. Even if you decide to be smart and try to chat with an online car dealership customer care representative, there isn't much they can do for you. The car dealership fixes a price, you either buy it or leave it.
You can only test-drive a car you can get into
When you visit a car dealership, you would find different car brands and models. Although, a lot of online reviews might have said sweet things about a particular car, it still doesn't mean that that car is perfect for you. You can only know for sure when you test the car yourself. Only then you say, "Yo! That's my car!" or "Nah, this isn't for me."

However, if you can test-drive a car over the internet, you might as well ignore this point and move on. You're covered.

Advantages of buying cars online

Time! No time!
Really, not everyone has the time to visit dealerships to shop for cars. Especially when you know that you can find any car you want from wherever you are. Purchasing a car online saves you a lot of time.

On the other hand, visiting a traditional car dealership takes a lot of time. And that's assuming you are not going to haggle prices. Even if you had a particular car brand and model in mind, you would still have to go through filling some documentation.

Things generally cost less online
Here's the thing. Online dealerships know that they have limited time to convince you to buy from them as there are many other websites for buying cars online. They know all it takes to be at another online dealership is just a few scrolls down Google search results. As a result, they give you the best prices they can, hoping that you buy from them once and for all.

You can find cheap used cars for sale on car selling sites.

You don't have to physically go to another store if a store doesn't have a car that you have. Thereby, reducing transportation costs.

No stressful paper works
The amount of stress one would be immersed into at filling out documents when buying cars offline is almost enough to discourage one from buying a car at all. You have to append your signature to this and that, write this, read that, fill those…

Meanwhile, all you have to do when purchasing a car online is just buy. No extra stressful documentations and all. You simply buy a car almost as easily as you would buy clothes online. Furthermore, you can buy a new or used car online and have it delivered to you.

You're exposed to different dealerships
Think about it. If an online dealership doesn't have the kind of car you want, all you have to do is visit another dealership website. Everything that takes you to the next dealership website is a few clicks on your computer.

However, this may not be easy for the traditional purchase of vehicles. As it is, car dealerships are often quite far apart. You wouldn't find them everywhere as you would find KFC or Mr. Biggs. As a result, if your car dealership doesn't have what you want, you've got a long way to go to reach others.

So, which is better? Online or Offline
After mentioning some of the advantages of one over the other, and after some thoughtful consideration, I have arrived at the decision of a better option. Online or offline. Which is better and more trustworthy?

And here's my verdict (drum rolls, cymbals clang, horns blaring.) The better option is the one that you feel more comfortable with. Trust me, that's the simple truth.

Why?
The simple explanation is that we are all different people with various preferences. What works for you may not necessarily work for others. You may prefer to buy a car online just as you would buy any other stuff. Your next door neighbor may think it is better for them to visit the car dealership physically and buy their car.

Whatever you decide to do, it is always good to do your homework and do some research, online or offline, about the car you want to buy before actually buying it.

Reasons for the popularity of Toyota cars in Nigeria
● Toyota cars are great for Nigerian roads. Don't even get me started on the quality of our roads in Nigeria. Of course, there are those that are so smooth, you could drive a Lamborghini through it without risks of damaging the car. However, not many roads would respect a Lambo. Toyota took advantage of this to manufacture cars that can thread Nigerian roads with minimal damage. That's one reason for their popularity in Nigeria.
● Toyota cars are relatively cheap. Between this reason and the first one, I don't know which one an average Nigerian Toyota car owner would say if you asked them why they use the car. With Nigeria being a third-world country, very expensive car brands would find it hard to gain a lot of customers. However, Toyota cars are not only great for Nigerian roads, they are also friendly with Nigerian pockets.
● Low Fuel Consumption. "Toyota no dey chop fuel". That was what my friend told me when I asked him why he loved Toyota brands. Fuel itself is a precious commodity here in Nigeria. Trust me, a car that consumes a lot of fuel would find it hard to compete with low fuel consuming brands like Toyota in this country.
● This last reason is an unpopular one but It's still valid. Nigeria, like many other countries, has some standards that guide the emission of gases into the atmosphere. Since Toyota cars do not break these emission standards, they are legally safe for Nigerian roads.
You can proceed to check out different Toyota car models here.

Car TalkHow To Clear Imported Cars In Nigeria, Cost And Duration by Carmartng(op): 9:04am On Oct 29, 2019
Importing cars into Nigeria is cheap at first phase but not at the last. The last phase, being the clearance phase, isn’t always a bed of roses. But then, the hassles would be nothing with your idea of how to clear imported cars in Nigeria.

The first time I involved myself in a car import, I went through a clearance agent. My first experience wasn’t bad but I’m certain I was cheated and used like a money bag. The next time, I decided to bear the burden alone to save extra cash. If you think it’s a very easy task, you are wrong, it isn’t. The only easy task is negotiating with a dealer and having an agent get your car onboard a ship. So many bureaucratic factors cause the procedure to become tight and stressful.

Moreover, any medium you use for the importation still owes clearance because it’s a basic and necessary phase. It’d have been easier to start using your car without knowing how to clear imported cars in Nigeria. However, for various reasons, clearance is necessary and doesn’t come without costing you some bucks. You should either ready yourself to spend or use the idea of how to clear imported cars in Nigeria wisely.

This article will show you how to clear imported cars in Nigeria the same way I do and with ease. With just 11 steps, your car will be ready for Nigerian roads.

Step 1
Get Your Waybill or Car B/L
The first and foremost thing on how to clear imported cars in Nigeria is to obtain this receipt. B/L is an acronym for Bill of Lading and it is also sometimes represented as BoL. In some cases, it’s called waybill but I prefer to address it as car’s Bill of Lading in this case. This is a receipt given by the carrier to the shipper. It acknowledges the receipt of the car(s) being shipped and specifies the terms of car(s) delivery. It also contains the details of the car you are importing from anywhere to Nigeria and is very important. I need not repeat that it contains the information about the car you ship and would be necessary for clearance. There are two ways of obtaining this receipt. You can get it via any Nigerian courier service that will convenience you or request for a softcopy via mail. In my case, I preferred a softcopy which was forwarded to my mail. I then proceeded to print it as hardcopy to kick-start the clearance procedures.

Step 2
Ascertain Car’s Import Duty
I’d like to explain procedural terms as we progress on how to clear imported cars in Nigeria. Import duty is simply the car importation taxing and does not refer responsibility, as you might think. This step is where a clearing agency would be needed but I successfully scaled it. Since it requires a simple letter writing, there are computer stalls around that’ll draft an agency’s letterhead for you. In fact, they have various registered clearance agency’s letterhead and you’d just have to pick the one your mind prefers. Once the draft is certain and ready, the content should be such that requests import duty valuation of your car. In case you did not obtain your B/L, you need it because you’ll attach it to the letter. It’s, in some cases, the first slip that the Nigerian Customs would look out for.
During this phase, the details of your car on B/L is what determines your car import valuation. For instance, if car B/L details states that your car is new, you’ll incur additional 35% levy from the initial 35% surface duty. I’ll write more on this in the section below where I state the cost of car importation clearance in Nigeria.

Step 3
Obtain Valuation Site and Perform DTI
DTI means Direct Trader Input and refers to the input of car valuation on Customs web base. This should cost just few minutes, if not seconds of your time. This is a simple upload that requires sincerity. I refer to this stage as the ‘property declaration’ stage because you’ll upload info beyond your car. Apart from the car, whatever other item is present in the car must be stated and must undergo import valuation. Besides, if you devalue your import duty, when Step 6 inspection takes place, it’ll affect you with delays and questioning. During this stage, ensure that you have verified with your valid Tax Identification Number (TIN). You would slightly have to rapport with a certified clearance agency at this time to scale this stage. I’m suggesting this in case you do not have TIN. Besides, every process requires the TIN.

Step 4
Print SGD and Assessment Notice
SGD refers to Single Goods Declaration. This step on how to clear imported cars in Nigeria is just a few-seconds step. It involves a simple printing of forms and these forms must contain the appropriate car information. Whatever happens, do not alter or falsify any information about your car. If you should dare to falsify any info, let it not be the Customs import valuation of your car. You might be tempted to do this, but don’t because all of these would be verified again and again before your car exits port. It is moments such as this that also cause people’s car to be impounded.

Step 5
Import Duty Valuation Payment Time
There are two payment options available, it’s either you inconvenience yourself through the bank or simply pay online. Anyways, I won’t digress this writing from what I did. I paid mine through the bank and I also presented my Assessment Notice form to the bank. Whichever payment method you use, do not fail to obtain a payment receipt. If you do not, I’m not sure of other ways you’ll follow to bypass Nigerian Customs without payment verification.

Step 6
Car Details Verification and Inspection
During the times I was preaching ‘sincerity’ up there, it was to avoid setbacks here. Insincerity doesn’t count on how to clear imported cars in Nigeria because you are risking impoundment. This is the time when you’ll submit all the forms you’ve been collecting. They include Bill of Lading (B/L), Payment Receipt (bank or online), Import Duty Valuation Papers, Assessment Notice and Single Goods Declaration (SGD) form. All these forms must be the originals and not photocopies, unless otherwise.
Note, provided information must tally with details on each form or slip. When the inspecting officers come forth, they expect to find exactly what is present on each form. Your car import valuation duty must remain untampered. If there are tampers, they’ll of course be a revaluation of the car import duty. And when it doesn’t correspond, questioning customs eyebrows will stare at you fiercely. If there is an extra imported item in the car, they’ll also verify that it was valued during first stages. If it isn’t valued, it’s regarded as insincerity and you risk further expenses or seizure.

Step 7
SGD Form Submission to Appropriate Shipping Company

The submission of your Single Goods Declaration form follows as step 7 on how to clear imported cars in Nigeria. This is only, but a sort of confirmation that you will be making to show that the car is yours. Simply locate the office of the shipping company responsible for the freighting of your car. Submit the Single Goods Declaration form and obtain a copy of an exit form to proceed. With your shipping company’s exit slip or form in your palms, you’re nearing the end process.

Step 8
Request for Car Release

Here is the stage where you make your final payments to the shippers. Again, you’ll gather your initial forms including B/L, SGD, Copy(s) of Exit and a valid means of identity. Your identity medium could be your valid National ID card, Valid Driver’s License, and even your Voter’s Card. Various shipping agents do have their requirements in terms of your identification but it won’t deviate from this. Also, if you have none of these but your International Passport is in place, it will make a good option. The little problem however, is that you need also, a Customs Authority Card which is renewed annually. This is the form that licensed clearance agencies conventionally possess to qualify them for several other clearances. The shipping firm, in a bid to maintain some form of decadence would demand for it. But then, you can pay it off or obtain surety from a licensed agent to proceed.

Step 9 – Quarter Final
CIU Stamp/Signature
To proceed further on how to clear imported cars in Nigeria, locate the Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU). There, do not wait to ask or read what is required to avoid delaying yourself. Simply make ready, the car release document issued to you during the valuation stages. Submit this form alongside the exit copy issued by your car shipper and your payment receipt. Verifications will be carried out and if successful, the document will be stamped and signed by the officer. This process can only be unsuccessful if the servers encounter problems with verification. And of course, this can only be caused by submitting faulted documents.

Step 10 – Semi Final
Proceed to Terminal Operator Office

Here is where you make your final payments and to the terminal operator office. You will be issued a terminal charge or debit note and you’re to pay at designated banks. Return here after making payments to obtain your Delivery Order (DO) and have your car released by your shipper. The terminal operator will also issue you a Terminal Delivery Order (TDO) to finalize things.

Step 11 – Final
Final Vehicle Movement and Final Verifications

Here is when your vehicle moves to the final gate and for final verifications. The customs Officer there would crosscheck every detail of the said car. When it’s certain that it tallies with your documents, you’ll be allowed out. You can park somewhere, call your lover and inform him/her of your new wheel’s arrival and run the Nigerian roads.

Cost of Clearing Imported Cars in Nigeria
I promised to guide you on the cost strategy of clearing imported cars in Nigeria. After knowing how to clear imported cars in Nigeria, do not fail also to know the cost.
If you were attentive to the guide above, you’d have seen that there were several offices that charges. The only thing is that I didn’t list the prices. The reason is because these cost differs by car. This is to say that your car model, type, production year and so on determines what you pay. This particularly applies when you’re dealing with customs because they’ll value your car and charge you by the value. This is what is called import duty valuation. This valuation bases on your car description, like I stated earlier. I will not provide you with an accurate cost but I’ll provide you with a titbit guide.
Also, the charges from customs is determined by Dollar rate. This means that the higher the rate of Dollars, the higher the cost to be incurred and vice versa. Let’s take a quick rundown on how import duty is ascertained by the Nigerian Customs. The percentage rate rallies around 0% to 35%. And in the case of your car, it’s a simple mathematics that will help you. All you do is multiply the cost of your car by the valuation rate and the current Dollar rate (Car Price X Valuation Rates X Dollar Rates).

Duration of Clearing Cars in Nigeria
The duration of clearing cars in Nigeria is determined by a number of factors. These could include validity of forms, number of clearance applicants etc. Another thing is laziness and frustration which could force you to delay. This is caused probably by your inability to verify documents and many others. In essence, it can take as long as you want to clear an imported car in Nigeria. But, the average time is just about two days to three days. As a newbie, it took me four days but later, I could run it in just three days successfully.

Author’s Note and Conclusion
There aren’t much difficulties associated with the entire process. However, there are certain vital documents you do require to avid delay. To get these documents, you may resort to rapport with a licensed agent or provide yours. And you know, obtaining those forms like the form C30 or Customs Authority Card might be tasking.
So, seeing how to clear imported cars in Nigeria in person, what do you think? If you can proceed to run the processes alone, fine but if you can’t, contact a clearing agent. At least, with this article, you’ve known how the processes go and can monitor your clearance agent better. This is how I cleared my imported car in Nigeria. Changes might come in along the process and you just have to be conscious on them.

Car TalkSteps To Buy A Car From USA And Ship To Nigeria Fast by Carmartng(op): 12:52pm On Oct 24, 2019
Knowing how to buy car from USA to Nigeria might seem like ‘task’ too burdening and tough to accomplish. You’re quite wrong and not so wrong.
Before purchasing my first car, I did hear people say, ‘that my car over there is from the US’. And I was often surprised because the distance between USA and Nigeria isn’t Nigeria to Kenya. One day, I overheard myself saying to someone, ‘that wheel shuttled in from the US’. Immediately, it occurred to me that I was now driving a self-imported car from the USA. For a second, I was a little bit proud; who wouldn’t be!
I know you want to know the steps to buy car from USA to Nigeria. And I’m also prepared to give more than enough details. I do not have anybody living in USA but I ordered and exactly what I ordered entered Nigeria.
Instead of finishing that money on just food like me, let me hastily teach you what to do. Mind you, you need every step, if you intend to successfully get that car without a scratch!
1. Store Some Cash
If you’re just going to kick-start this project, you’ll have to have some cash in store. The very reason behind this is the fact that every delay in payments incur charges. The least thing like allowing your car to exceed given time in dealer’s hands attracts charges.
2. Sign Up to a Car Auction Site
It’s actually very easy to buy car from USA to Nigeria. There are some very good auction sites out there. With your Android or Apple phone in hand, you’d just few clicks away from shipping a car to Nigeria. Some of the sites are the likes of Copart, Cars45, and Carmart.ng. Don’t wait for your children to guide you because the signup is as easy as opening a new Facebook account. As a car dealer, here is your opportunity to buy car from USA to Nigeria and burst customers’ bubble.
You do need some details on signup or registration and they’re things you can easily get. Pick an auction site, know what they want and they upload to proceed on their portal. In case you think there will be big document demands, no. A simple auction license, your Nigerian ID and few others as your chosen auction site requires. While making uploads, be honest and provide only valid ID to prevent future difficulties. In this sense, if you do not have what the auction site requires, please make them available before signup.
3. Go through the List and Make Your Car Pick
The list to buy car from USA to Nigeria is filled with a pretty good list of cars. What vehicle do you have in mind? The likes of Mack Truck? SUVs? Sport cars or motorcycles? Believe me, if there are collections other than these, you’ll still be able to ship them from the US.
As soon as you’re on course with your auction ID, bargain with dealer and you’re almost there. While some auction sites may offer premium services, others do not when attempt to buy car from USA to Nigeria. For sites with premium deals, you should expect some additional benefits to buy car from USA to Nigeria. Depending on the site, the benefit could be access to participation in ongoing vehicle bids. Also, some sites operate on annual billing for services which means free signup too.
Moreover, don’t just click ‘buy’ when you find the car you like on the auction site. Go through the car related information and know details behind it like: Damage level, Odometer, as well as if it’s a clean title car. A clean title car, in case you have no idea, is simply a car with no recorded damage. This sort of car however, would be slightly costly. Also check other important information stating whether the car has clean certificate of title, salvage car and few more. For clean certificate of title, it means that the dealer is the verified owner of the car. And salvage car? Well, if it’s salvage, the car has suffered damages and you may want to reconsider paying to ship such car.
4. Place Your Order
Placing order means you are ready to buy car from USA to Nigeria. This comes after series of inspection that you carry out on the car you want through the details. For me, it’s even easier because placing order does not require lengthy paperwork or this and that. It’s simple and straight. You can immediately proceed to buy car from USA to Nigeria or wait for negotiation date to reach. This is the case because certain cars or dealers fix a particular date for biddings to fly in. You know how this works? It can be tricky though because it’s only the highest bidder that qualifies to pay for the car. People often run from such offers because the chances of winning is often slim. Well, I’ve been a successful bidder once and I did that by not rushing into the bidding. I waited for what seemed to be the best bid and then topped something on it and won.
5. Pay for Your USA Car to Enter Nigeria
Auction sites provide seemingly same or the same payment method to buy car from USA to Nigeria. You can either opt for bank wire or a simple and quick transfer with your credit card. I do have a little bit of difficulties using my bank credit card. I’m certain this is a Nigeria-related problem as my credit card is often declined. Even though transacting with credit card makes things easier, I do switch to bank wire for the sake of time. After all, the payment will still be made and your online wallet debited. Do note that you’ll risk extra charges for payment delay.
6. It’s Shipping Time!
Concerning the steps to buy car from USA to Nigeria, this is where delay begins. I call this a necessary delay because things need to be put in place to avoid any misunderstanding. Since the negotiation is set with your car dealer, the shipping agent gets in. Agents duty, of course, is to aid in the entire process of the car’s departure from USA to Nigeria.
One of the negotiations that will take place between you and your agent is the car carriage to the seaport. For cars labelled as run and drive, it’ll save you the extra tow truck fees. If this isn’t the case, you’ll have to pay for the movement of your ca to port. The cost would be determined by the location of the dealer and the port. The agent would communicate this to you.
Another shipping process that follows is the freight booking. For the fact that the fee isn’t same at all time and for vehicles, I can’t assume it. However, you can project about 900 dollars and a little less. Once you clear this payment, viola, your shipping line sets sail.
7. Car Clearance
Soon, I mean very soon, you should become a car owner. Seriously, because there is very little to worry about here. Apart from clearance fee, all that’s left is to run your wheels on the Nigerian roads.
Custom clearance should be a matter of days. I do not know how my first ever agent did it, but he cleared my car in two days. With the state of things though, I wouldn’t say two days for clearance. Give it three careful days and your car should be free and ready. Do note that several charges await you. And also, these charges do depend on the sort of car and the release year of the car. This means that the charges become higher depending on the overall value of the car. In fact, the least thing like your car’s mileage contributes to the charges – how funny, but necessary.
Cost of Shipping a Car from USA to Nigeria
Apart from the shipping fees and be ready to settle the Customs. There are two Customs to be settled here. First are those of the US and then those of Nigeria. If you do try to play smart, things won’t look good, so don’t try to.
Beginning from the negotiation and buying stage, it will be cost upon cost. However, I can’t tell the cost of your car because it’ll be determined by the dealer and the type of car. But certainly, I’m aware of costs like dealer to port charge and freighting fee. For agent to transport the car to the shipping port, it would cost between 15o Dollars and 300 Dollars. There can’t be any certain price because your dealer’s distance from seaport determines this, especially if it’s trucking.
How Long It Takes to Ship a Car from USA to Nigeria
The reason why your car might take a bit of time to arrive is primarily due to some reasons. The first, of course, is if your exporter has to wait for an available ship to take off. Concerning this, you do not have to blame anyone, the auction site or the car exporter. It is due to the number of Nigerians having their cars on cue to ship from USA to Nigeria. This is usually the case if you’re transporting via container. It’s safe but since the cost is high, you’d want to jointly pay with other importers. And if their clearance delays, your car shipping delays same.
Another reason is the Customs clearance. Many would say in 4 weeks that your car would successfully land in Lagos. In truth, this happens strictly by chance. Expect to see your USA shipped car in about 6 weeks or even more, depending on the state of things.
Author’s Extra
If there is anything I advise people most is to be very careful. Some of the auction sites are actually avenues for fraud. But then, I’m glad that there are reputable ones out there in numbers. I have added a few to this article and you might want to consider them.
Nigerians are fun of omitting T&Cs which often land them in unbearable and annoying situations. For any auction site you pick, please go through their T&Cs because we’re discussing money in it. Anyway, this should be it as you embark on accomplishing this plan. I wish you the best and please, go for the best and not what would give you headache.

Car TalkBest Car To Buy In Nigeria [easy Maintenance And Low Fuel Consumption] by Carmartng(op): 8:52am On Oct 02, 2019
If circumstances make you ponder over the best car to buy in Nigeria, here is a chance to shame it. At 21, I was obsessed about owning a car and thus, worried about the best car to buy in Nigeria. Today, I’m glad I didn’t die of obsession, but I’m excessively grateful for the experience! You must be wondering how, right or wrong? Well, I don’t read minds, but I sense thoughts.

Carmart.ng which is Nigeria’s biggest car selling and buying platform brings you a complete review of the type of car to buy in Nigeria if you are looking to minimize fuel and pay low in maintenance.
This being the case, however, buying a car in Nigeria isn’t at all the problem! The problem is the presence of the question: ‘What is the best car to buy in Nigeria?’ This problem is what I intend to fix with this article though. At least, you’ll find out that dreaming of a Bentley or Lambo is absurd.
I will suggest cars that will bravely face a typical Nigerian road no matter the corner to steer into. Also, these cars will so much please you with their level of fuel consumption and easy maintenance.

Don’t linger behind so that you’ll know the best car to buy in Nigeria for yourself or your loved one. No logic meant it’s all about the fact.

What Sort of Cars Does Nigerians Really Have in Mind?
If you ask a typical Nigerian for the best car to buy in Nigeria, you won’t like the responses. In fact, their response will discourage you from ever planning to buy a car in Nigeria. For instance, when my obsession was high, I asked around for the best car to buy in Nigeria, guess what? They advised me to get cars like Peugeot 504 or better still, opt for 90s Honda! Phew! They are too old!
Would you blame their suggestions? The suggested cars may be economic in fuel consumption coupled with easy maintenance, but very old (outdated). I know quite well that you wouldn’t love to buy or acquire any old model car with your money. This is the reason I went extra-deep, as a car dealer, to pick out the best car to buy in Nigeria.

Best Car to Buy in Nigeria and Enjoy Low Fuel Consumption and Easy Maintenance
As promised, once you're done with this section, you'll no longer worry about the best car to buy in Nigeria. The cars I have on this list have been tested and trusted. To further add to this, I have been to showrooms and the car stands to make my suggestions concrete. The questions I asked and answered in the course of this finding are:
• How easy it is to maintain the car.
• Low fuel consumption support.
• The pocket-friendliness of the car.
• Durability
• Ability to drive and last on Nigerian roads etc.

These were very easy for me to do due to my insight knowledge on the best car to buy in Nigeria. Also aiding me was my car dealing intelligence, especially on Nigerian cars. We should now proceed on to highlighting the best car to buy in Nigeria in the order of their importance.

Honda CR-V
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Honda-CR-V.jpg
The Honda CR-V is a specifically reliable and unique car to own in Nigeria. I see this car as an all-weather Nigerian type of car. In fact, I'm convinced that this car is produced primarily for the environment and the financial standards of Nigeria. If you plan on getting a solid ride, consider Honda CR-V, a mini-cruiser that offers an SUV experience. How about its maintenance condition, is it at all favorable? Trust me, it is. My elderly uncle owns it as one of his lovely rides. Surprisingly, he tends to be most interested in this car! Could it be that it's beautiful or that it is fast? Can you guess? Oh well, you might not guess well enough. The reason, according to him, is that the economy level of the car is top-notch. Little wonder why he prefers to roll around most often with it. I also enquired from the car stand and they so well confirmed this.

Toyota Camry (The Princess Nigerian Vehicle)
https://carmart.ng/public/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Toyota-Camry.jpg
This car model is already a household name in Nigeria. Do you ever wonder why this is so? Before I proceed, I'd love to inform you of the high level of theft recorded on this brand of vehicle. This comes from experience and reports. One of the commonest ways of stealing the Toyota Camry, especially the tiny light is the use of special keys. However, this can be averted by simply being conscious of the environment you drive through or park your car.
To the subject of discussion, Camry boasts of low fuel consumption and very easy to maintain. Also, the car parts are readily available around Nigeria at cheaper rates compared to certain brands.

Toyota Corolla Sport 2006 Model
During my findings, the Corolla model of Toyota is what I lastly questioned on. Even at that, I am certain that it merits the third spot in this article.
It would have been better if Toyota named this car with something like 'Toyota Corolla Fuel Efficient', seriously. Apart from the Inquisition I've made in this car, I've also been opportune to house it for a week - the 2006 model. Being that I'm 'fuel-conscious', I closely studied how this baby four-wheeler consumed fuel. It's satisfactory, I must say because spending on fuel isn't part of the Toyota Corolla dictionary. I highly recommend this car as the best car to buy in Nigeria on economic grounds.

RAV4
Nothing as lovely as its rounded and sporty design.
Fuel usage - 85%
Handling - Decent
Maintenance - Easy level (Depends on the car owner)
Spare parts availability - Decent
With the little spec up here, believe me, RAV4 is what you need. This is a mini-SUV that I've not experienced before. But I can attest to its utility-friendly nature that you ought to buy and own it as a car in Nigeria.

The Acura MDX
Lest I forget, the Acura MDX merited my list out of its sleekness, despite being a mini SUV! In some states of Nigeria like Akwa Ibom and Calabar, a working-class citizen pictures this car as the smartest deal. What is a car would you not find here, luxurious design but affordable? Is it a question on the low fuel consumption that we're dwelling on? Maintenance?

The Streamlined Honda Accord
Another car to buy is this beast - the classy Honda Accord. I assessed the 2001 Honda Accord DX and the 2006 model. There was a slight difference in fuel consumption and I noticed that the later model is more optimized in the fuel category.
Apart from the fuel aspect, the sleekness of the Honda Accord DX 2001 is what you'd want to acquire.
The 2005 Honda Accord boasts of streamlined body design. It isn't an SUV but man, the interior design is much favorable on the condition of maintenance. A couple of times, I've had conversations with the owners of this car model. The basis of my questions was on:
• How fast does it consume fuel?
• What do you spend annually on maintenance?
The answers that came from the two Honda Accord owners were interesting. It is thus, the reason why I include it on my list. What I really focused on here is the maintenance ability. And yes, I must say that it's satisfactory. On the basis of our subject, I recommend the Honda Accord on the classifications of low fuel consumption and maintenance.

Why these Cars Make a Good Deal
The cars on this list are no doubt the smartest deal you can sign up for. Do you still want me to give you reasons why these cars make a good deal? I can sense you doing ‘hmmm’. It’s okay, I’ll do anything to ease your desire.
First, the listed cars did not just come to be on this list. Each of them has a list of questions and answers that accompany it. It is after answering the questions that I pick the best. Here are why these cars make a good deal!
• The fuel consumption is minimal.
• You do not have to be an expert before maintaining the car. In fact, owning this sort of car teaches you how to become a mechanical engineer. How? Finding and fixing problems on the car is as cheap as, name it.
• Road friendliness is a high level.
• User-friendliness.
• Finally, the cost is certainly something you can plan for at convenience.

Car TalkDocuments To Collect When Buying A Tokunbo Car In Nigeria by Carmartng(op): 8:17am On Sep 30, 2019
Lots of questions like documents to collect when buying a tokunbo car in Nigeria floods the internet daily. For instance, if you visit Nairaland Autos forum, you’ll find many questions taking this angle. You’ll not only see threads concerning documents to collect when buying a tokunbo car in Nigeria, but car dealers too. And to think of it, people still contact the creators of such threads to buy a tokunbo car from them.

It isn’t unintelligent to connect with people and buy a used or tokunbo car online. In fact, online trading makes it easier to find a car that satisfy your heart and soul. I have had contacts with online tokunbo car sellers and I have success in each of these deals. With this now, you can see that buying whether online or around your neighborhood is still the same thing. I’m bringing this up to disagree with those who say they can’t buy cars away from what they readily see. As an experienced person in the field of tukunbo car purchase, believe me, it’s common sense that matters. My point is that wherever you make the purchase, sense matters and original documents matter too.

Carmart.ng which is Nigeria best tokunbo car selling website brings you the important documents to collect when buying a tokunbo car in Nigeria. We’ll be snappy about this so that you make that used car your own in Nigeria before tomorrow.

Documents to Collect When Buying a Tokunbo Car in Nigeria

Finally, we are here after training you on the basic knowledge before buying a tokunbo car in Nigeria. There are a few important documents to collect when buying a tokunbo car in Nigeria. No matter how old a car may be, it is still very necessary to obtain these papers or documents.

After from just getting these documents, verifying each to know if they are the originals is equally important. It’ll not speak well to obtain fakes because when you run into the Police’s net, it won’t be funny. Also, don’t be too weary to avoid collecting photocopies. Buying means legally making a product your property, so, don’t mess around with photocopies instead of originals. Enough with stories as we proceed on to the necessary documents to collect when buying a tokunbo car in Nigeria.

Current Insurance

If you aren’t buying a direct tokunbo car, the owner must have factored in his insurance cost into the price he gave you.
Just in case you are driving off with the car and something happens, the insurance company will pay damages.
Current insurance paper is one of the documents to collect when buying a tokunbo car in Nigeria. Sometimes the car seller gives you an outdated insurance cover. When something happens, you can’t make claims because the insurance cover is updated.

Duly Stamped Customs Documents
Anything related to customs must be stamped and very original. Another thing is that there should be matching details of the car on each of the papers. You should be very conscious of this fact, being that these kind of documents define a car and the driver. You don’t want to hear the Nigerian Police say, ‘oga come down’, while another officer cocks his gun. Ensure that you get only original papers, and not something that has been tampered.

Details like car’s VIN is very vital, it must, as a must, be the same with what the paper says. If there is a mismatch, please seek for reasons, and no reason at all should be a reason for such. This appears as Chasis number on documents.

Request for Police Report Papers
These are another set of papers you do not want to mess with. They could include:
• Plate number document
• Engine number
• Change of ownership
• Permit for tinted glass (if tokunbo car glass is tinted)

Proof of Ownership
This will of course show that you are the owner of the car in question. Just like other documents, it is very necessary. As the name implies, if you can’t provide these papers, you’d be endangering your ownership status of the car.

Road Worthiness
Get this paper from the seller too. If the timeframe on the document has been exceeded, you can renew it. Visit a vehicle test station in Nigeria with the requirements. A valid insurance policy and license would be required as well.

Original Car Purchase Receipt
The seller has this in custody, get it. This shows that you are acquiring a legal car and not stolen. If the seller fails to provide this particular document, there is that possibility that you’re dealing with a stolen car. Even at that, be careful when issued a receipt. What you get might be a tampered document with no concrete source.

Plate Number Allocation
If for concrete reasons, the seller can’t provide this document, you can swear an affidavit in court.
Other documents to collect when buying a tokunbo car in Nigeria are:
• The CMR Document
• Change of ownership papers issued from the previous seller to the person you’re buying from.
There are some other documents to collect when buying a tokunbo car in Nigeria and they include;
• Tinted permit doc
• Document of change of ownership
• Engine number
• Plate number
• Police report
If the seller bought the car as a Nigerian used, then he should have the change of ownership document duly signed and handed over to you. But if it was bought as a direct tokunbo car, then you don’t really need this document.
You should also note that once your car doesn’t have custom document – except it is beetle, and the documents have expired years ago, please stay away from such a car.
We do our best to make sure that sellers on our platform have all the necessary documents to collect when buying a tokunbo car in Nigeria.

If you’re a first time driver, apply for the ‘L’ sign in any government approved ministry near you. The consequences of not having this sign and the documents might force the appropriate agency to impound your car.
Also, some of these documents expire over time. This means that you’ll be making renewals from time to time. And again, being caught with expired papers is more like not having any paper, and it is an offence. To know whether your paper(s) is still valid, check the details angle for that and other information.

In the end, remember to use your sixth sense. And believe me, depending on ‘hearsay’ often run people – vehicle owners into deep messes. However, you can avoid headaches by obtaining the right documents and signing appropriate papers before hitting Nigerian roads.

Car TalkHow To Avoid Buying A Foreign But Stolen Car In Nigeria by Carmartng(op): 8:31am On Sep 27, 2019
It can be quite a harsh scenario if you're arrested with a stolen car of this calibre. It's one of the reasons why I'm showing you how to avoid buying a stolen car in Nigeria. However, getting caught with a stolen foreign car doesn't happen often. This is because the car has crossed its mother base. But this doesn't immune you as the buyer from being dealt with when caught.
On the other hand, I do not recommend driving round a foreign car, if its source isn't genuine.
Let's see the things I do to avoid buying stolen cars in Nigeria. You're free to do the same thing because stolen cars aren't problem-free.

1. Request for Custom Papers
This should always be the first thing. In fact, if you carefully practice these processes, you could become an expert like me in buying cars for people.
Please, be careful with the papers a seller issues you with. Fake papers can be made to look original if You do not know. Also, perform VIN checks on the car, it's one way to check if it's stolen.

2. Consider Buying from an Authorized Car Dealer
If you have difficulties trusting private individuals, walk down to a car shop (authorized). Here, you don't have much to worry about, even though you still have to be watchful.

3. Try to Spot Fresh Paintings on the Car
If stolen car dealers think that they are wise, show them you're wiser. The moment you start assessing the entire car, fear will grip a guilty seller. This is why I stated in the preferred purchase guide list that you have to look like a pro.

4. Confirm the Overall Looks
Sometimes, there are certain marks left on stolen cars. The thieves may often times not notice much of them. It's now your responsibility to become a detector and figure these things out. Try not to be gullible no matter what or how things pan out.

Ultimately, you can be rest assured that you won't buy a stolen car if you adhere to this guide. I'm also glad with myself that I've shown you how to avoid buying stolen cars in Nigeria. I no longer want to hear those 'stolen cars" stories. Don't be a stolen car dealer, and don't be a stolen car seller. Be smart, if for nothing but for the mere fact that you're a Nigerian. Here's a country filled with smart citizens, so become one.
