You obviously don't understand what being the biggest economy means. America has the world's biggest economy but has a higher unemployment rate than Switzerland and the Scandinavia. Buhari is largely, if not solely responsible for Nigeria's current economic predicament. The idea of allowing a vacuum in govt for 6months after assumption of office and the delay in passing a budget are the single most important reasons why we find ourselves where we r today.

On the issue of fall in price of crude. Those monies you always say were wasted by PDP during the period of oil boom were in truth not really wasted. They were actually used to expand the economy, hence Nigeria's rise to become Africa's biggest economy. Now, when you have assets and potential like Nigeria has, it is easy to cushion the effect of a fall in oil price by simply borrowing or making use of such assets to stimulate the economy so as to keep businesses going without feeling the impact of oil price fall. Now those assets they plan to lease or sell, who built them? PDP. With which money? Same money you said was squandered.
can we just move from this issue of late appointment of ministers, since it has happened already, and proffer solutions out of the problem? You people blame the past or Buhari, don't want us to even blame the last administration .

Point to one asset PDP built that's sellable right now?

'administrative hiccups and poor preparations ' That's it.

We've been largely around but had to do a lot more on sidelines because the ethnic bashing suffocates me.

Back to the issue : it's same administrative hiccups annd poor preparations that have affected every other area of our nation life, be it the economy, politics, education, etc.

These nations that are doing extremely well in the Olympics are the same nations leading the economies of the world. They're nations built on hard work, focus, early preparations, sensible leadership, deep sense of nationalism, patriotism and courage - these are attributes scandalously missing with our nation.

As for Saudi, there are exceptions to every rule.
as a nation , we have problems , but that does not take away our potential and prospects.

I quite agree with you though...

Obama made appointments almost immediately he was sworn in and not six months after.
And above all he ran a campaign of debates and roadmap not imaginary promises.

NASS should not give Buhari such powers!
can we just move away from this issue of 'late appointment ' of ministers and proffer solutions on how to get out of this economic gridlock?

Buhari needs such power due to exigencies of time.

It's not just about the size. A nation's outing in any major international competition such as the Olympics, gives a general overview into its national values, work ethics and leadership.

You think the above medals na fluke?
where have you been? Welcome back. You (tonyebarcanista, dearpreye etc,) sensible guys have left opposition work to these miscreants, it's no more fun here.

Back to the issues. The problem of Nigerian not doing well at global sporting events is not in a anyway tied to nonavailability of athletes , but administrative hiccups and poor preparations.

Again, you and I know that football is the most celebrated sport in Nigeria- this has downwarped attention for other sports that have slot at the Olympics. This is why we don't usually do well in Olympic. That does not also take away the fact that we have produced some great Olympians in this country .

Among the countries you listed , Saudi is great in its own right- both economically and otherwise. Sport is not just their thing. It's not about being religious, imtiaz is wrong on that. China is religious, why did they win so many medals?

so strength or prospect of a nation becoming big is measured on a number of medals won at the Olympics? What's wrong with you?

I should also ask you if you were there, or if you were one of his cabinet members. Why is it that someone has to be blamed when Buhari's economic decisions fail? grin

How many people did Obama blame when he took over power?

Buhari met Nigeria as the biggest economy in Africa, in only 18mths we are in a recession, has it been PDP's policies we have been implementing since the last 18mths or Buhari's?
Obama took responsibility for his party and blamed republican where necessary. That was because their system allows alternation of power between the party. But here , Pdp ruled for 16 years since inception of our democracy, who should apc blame?

Just as you were not there or born then , I was also not part of the cabinet too. And I don't think it's written anywhere that you must be part of the cabinet to know what the government is doing. Why I had to ask if you were there in 1984 is because other accounts pre-84 contradicts your line of argument. Besides, you made me believe that you argue based on facts . So when I saw your argument devoid of facts , I was forced to hold you back .

The biggest economy in Africa story is a farce and does not fly. What's the unemployment rate at that time? What was happening in education and health sector? What was Nigeria having under that slogan of "biggest economy"? If it was that rosy , why was the last administration kicked out?

Just like pre-84 where shagari asslickers made us believe everything was rosy until the government was toppled and BUHARI took over , so was the situation before he took over from the last administration; we horsewhiped them out.

I am educated so I can read, I argue based on facts. Anwser the simple question, who destroyed the economy in 1984?
I'm saying you've read the wrong story and, that's why I'm asking you to know if you were there. No account pre-84 has said the economy under shagari was rosy before BUHARI took over . He came on a rescue mission , but was truncated by the architect of our modern day problems, IBB .

Ok if he destroyed the economy in 1984, how come pdp could not revive it in 16 years?

Crazy stuff. It's obvious this government cannot work within civilian and democratic tenets hence this fire brigade approach. The problem with things like this is heady abuse of powers and obfuscation of processes so that private individuals are at a loss as to what the extant provision of the law is.

We watch n observe.
is it that you people "excavate" what is left of your brain from your skull when posting on nairaland or you are just blinded by your euhedral hate for BUHARI?

In the report , it says he's seeking power from the national assembly, how is that undemocratic and outside his ex cathedral?
