The pasture isn't "greener" for this 11 million britons. The pasture is not always greener at the other side.
The world's economy is taking a hit. The good thing for such people in Britain is, they don't lack the basic amenities. That's why their situation is in stark contrast to our own. |

tubolancer: The judiciary has been the biggest defender of our democracy, it doesn't act on emotions but on fact as seen in the last judgment in the Supreme Court. It hasn't come so hard on INEC. INEC can do nonsense and still defend it with no one being punished. If you fail at your duty and it affect the election in anyway, you're held responsible for it. But all INEC does is, get a tap on the wrist and asked to withdraw certificates and re-issue another one. In fact, inec even wrote not to appeal the tribunal judgment in kano because they want the case to favor certain people. From Jonathan's treatment of Justice Ayo Salami, to how Buhari was invading their houses gestapo style, and their recent judgments, the judiciary is losing it. They don't enjoy the true independence. Some state governors want the CJ of their states to worship them. We have to do something. |
Politics › The 3 Institutions That Would Cause Revolution/war In Nigeria by Caseless(op): 6:22am On Nov 19, 2023 |
1. The Judiciary
2. The Police force
3. INEC
Believe me, after religion and ethnicity, these institutions are the "likeliest" to cause war or trigger a military takeover in Nigeria.
If we're all ready to get Nigeria working, our attention should be focused on fixing these critical institutions.
The political class has hijacked the judiciary. A nation without a good Judiciary, a good electoral umpire and an effective policing system that's not corrupt, is on a downward spiral.
Corruption affects everything in our national life, but we should fight to insulate this institutions from corruption. If we get it right with these institutions, I can guarantee you our greatness and growth. |

aswani: Dino Melaye is damaged goods that was imposed on Kogi state PDP by National to reward him for supporting Atiku during the presidential primaries. Even those PDP people at state level worked against him because they hated the unprincipled rascal. PDP is a useless party. They're never serious. You saw where APC picked their candidate from, instead of them going to the east, they picked Dino. |
Politics › Re: Why Are Yorubas (okun) Not Allowed To Rule In Kogi State? by Caseless: 6:04am On Nov 19, 2023 |
Raf4: Politics is a game of numbers. Okun Yoruba are minority (3rd largest) tribe in Kogi state. Most of the time, they are either deputy Governor, SSG or speaker of the House. They had a wrong candidate (Dino) in just concluded election. Even majority of Okun Yoruba see Dino Melaye as a jester who is not fit to be a governor, so didn't rally round him for vote. They have more population than the Ebira. |
Politics › Re: Why Are Yorubas (okun) Not Allowed To Rule In Kogi State? by Caseless: 6:01am On Nov 19, 2023 |
SOSinNigeria: I don't see that happening. Igalas almost won with an unknown party like SDP, if not for massive rigging. Then what do you think will happen if the Igala candidate was in a party with structure like PDP?
Igalas will be too angry that Ebiras has ruled for 12/16 years unbroken to let the next opportunity slip. See, politics is a game of number. Igala constitute like 65% of the population of the state. Ankpa alone would have taken in Okene, Adavi and Okehi. It's the death of Audu that made Buhari and Malami to give it to Yahaya, having come second in the primaries. Igala wanted Faleke then. Igala would easily give it to Okun than they'd with Ibira. I had thought that Yahaya would be human enough to shift it to the West for equity, and kickstart the idea of rotational governance in the state, but he preferred his cousin who kneels to worship him. Igala people are bruised and wounded right now and the idea of them getting power and letting it out to other regions is dead. Not even when ibira people are boasting of ruling for 16 years, not because they have the numbers, but because they think they'd rig forever because of the nigerian poor electoral system. I'm sure the court would look at the election and the outcomes. If the Ibira guy stays for another for years, it's at the detriment of the Okun. The Okun people are not even ready to govern. Imagine them voting APC against their own sons. They don't appear ready. |

Cooolme: I have a stepsister living abroad, the daughter of my mom. She's been there since childhood, raised by her father, and has become independent.
Despite the physical distance, she has been supportive, particularly to my mom. Although she occasionally sends money to my mom, it's never quite enough for her.
I share a unique bond with her; we've always been close, even during her visit. The last time she sent me money was during my 100 level when things were tough. However, my focus shifted from financial help to maintaining a connection with her.
Recently, I noticed a change. Since July, she has been snubbing my messages, a puzzling behavior considering I don't seek financial assistance. I've made it a point to check on her regularly, something she mentioned our mom doesn't do. At my level now if she needs money I can even send for her but her recent attitude has totally changed my mind towards her. I'm contemplating blocking her and ending contact, as it seems that's what she wants.
It's a challenging situation, and I'm curious if anyone here has experienced anything similar. If this is true, then do not worry yourself. They listen to story of depressed people that they themselves become depressed easily over there. Give her time. I was thinking you do bill her and that's why she's avoiding you. Since that's not the case, leave her alone. |

Or an alternative decision,go into a relationship with an entirely different man but file for a divorce first, after the divorce then she should go to another relationship (like live in lover) have kids with him and forget the kids she has with her former husband if all pleas fall on deaf ears.she should build another different FAMILY again, case closed she no pray before she commit adultery abi? |

galileo180: Your honest and sincere opinions are highly needed on this.
My brother is about to get married on Sunday and just today, the girlfriend has been threatening to call off the marriage over a little issue. The issue being my brothers' refusal to travel back to our village with her since he needs to be at work on Tuesday, his reason being that there is no movement on Mondays and he is a Banker and needs to be present to open Vault on Tuesday.
Please in your sincere opinion, is my brother wrong and is it a good reason for the girl to threaten him with calling off the event.
Mods please help a brother, please push to front-page as it needs urgent attention. Is your brother not about to dodge a bullet so? A wife that can't consider his excuse of work... I fear for him. This is where he'd feed her from and if he allows her to get him to have issue at his work place, she'll be the first person to leave him. Your brother is not in charge and that's obvious. |
