A man has revealed his surprise after visiting the library located in the Palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II. According to him, the massive living room which doubles as a library - is not only gorgeous but a forest of books. According to reports, the Emir still has close to 14,000 collections in his house in London that he is planning to bring back home in Kano state.

I left the Emir's Palace here in Kano at about 9:35 pm. I went with my uncle and cousin this time around. And I went into sections of the Palace that I have never been to before. It was beautiful, especially at night. The renovations and reconstructions some grumbled about are well worth it in my humble opinion.

We met the King in his new library at the Palace. A very exquisitely furnished large room with the most beautiful wood panelling and chandeliers I have ever seen. There were shelves on two sides of the room filled from the floor to the ceiling with books.

Remember that family law he proposed one time? Well, the issue came up as His Highness rose to get a copy of a book on Islamic jurisprudence written ages ago where the recommended minimum age for marriage was surprisingly specified at 18. He then read from another book that listed the different age limits for marriage for both males and females in several Middle-eastern countries and across different Islamic sects.

He said that he is still insisting that the minimum age limit can be debated, ranging between 15, 16 and so on, as many scholars argued for, but that he still prefers it to be set at 18 years old. But to insist that the institution of marriage cannot be regulated is not only disingenuous but absurd.

The King then recounted a conversation he once had with a prominent scholar here in Kano where the Malam told His Highness that the problem with introducing something as new as the King is proposing is that the people will not welcome it. That they will "talk".

The Emir laughed, as did we, when he said he replied the Malam saying that what will the people say other than what people like him tell them? If he tells them to accept it, they will not resist. Likewise, if he also tells them to reject it then that is what they'll do. Scholars have that power here. Sometimes more power than the government even.

Anyway, work is still ongoing. The law is still being fine-tuned and all the different sides will meet up once again to find a final way forward.

He even added that the Governor of Jigawa told him that they are already very willing to implement such a family law there.

Discussions moved on to other subjects as I continued to marvel at the elegant beauty of His Highness' marvellous library. And I thought to myself, wait o, this man is equally a scholar himself. He is not just aping or making noise but he actually knows what he is talking about from the perspectives of religion, culture and the law.

Another thing meeting him today reminded me of is that he is quite tall too. You don't really see it on TV or in pictures. Or when he's seated in all his kingly regalia on a throne.

One last thing that he did that I found extremely remarkable was how he quickly recognized me. The first and last time I visited and met the Emir in private was sometime early or mid last year, I can't remember when precisely but I did make a post about it here. We had a brief conversation after I had introduced myself and I haven't met with the Emir one on one ever since.

Yet, the man recognized me almost instantly. Considering the volume of faces he comes across almost on a daily basis, I found this to be very impressive. What a memory.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen wrecked havoc after attacking Shimba village in Song Local Government area of Adamawa state. According to reports, the herdsmen struck the quiet community by 12 midnight - killing those they encountered and also burning houses in the process. Here are photos from the attack scene.

Meanwhile, fresh reports have it that Fulani herdsmen went on a fresh rampage in Taraba State Thursday night,10 hours after Governor Darius Ishaku raised the alarm that they were coming.

Four persons ,including a couple ,were murdered at Ngutwsem village in Gassol local government area in the night attack.

A 23-year-old man simply identified Lanre is lucky to be alive after falling off a moving bus and getting crushed under the tyres of the bus in the process.. The young man was immediately rushed to the hospital after the tragic incident as the doctors did their best to save him.

According to reports, the young man has been discharged from the hospital and is now recuperating at his Aunt's place after the successful surgery...

A woman identified as Osioma Paul, the wife to a kidnapper now in prison and sister in law to an arrested gang leader, Ifeanyi Stanley - was arrested for keeping the operational Rifles and Ammunition for Kidnappers in her house in Abia state.

On the 14/1/18, Asp Solomon Aniefiok Unit Commander went on a visit to check his men in the field before he was suddenly Kidnapped by AK47 Rifle carrying Kidnappers. He was eventually released 3 days later after ransom was Paid.

Irked by the development, IGP Ibrahim k Idris Deployed the Intelligence response team IRT to Abia state to get the Kidnappers to justice.

Based on the IGP directives one of the best IRT teams was deployed and after 6days of unrelenting follow up 5 of the Kidnappers were arrested alive and 1 Kidnapper met his water-Loo during Gun battle with IRT Operatives.

Exhibits recovered are 0ne AK47 Rifle with S/no 56-2550382 with 2 Magazines and 60 live Ammunitions, One Barretta Service Pistol of the Mopol Unit Commander, One local made Pistol and 2 Catridges, One Police Bullet proof jacket, One Police vest, 2 head Warmers, One Mopol Jungle Cap.

A man identified as Alhaji Moggogo was attacked and brutally killed after several provocative attacks over issue involving cattle ranch. According to Mohammed Mustapha, the man was murdered yesterday by Mambilla militia at his hometown in Gembu, Taraba state.

The aged Alhaji Moggogo was attacked & brutally killed after several provocative attacks over a cattle ranch that was legally handed over to Him by a court of competent jurisdiction as the real & bonifide owner after a prolong judgment between the neighbouring community. the provocations started by restraining His cattle from the river for water and grazing on the field despite court judgment.

May almighty Allah grant the soul of the slain jannatul fir'dausi and make the killers realize there is no alternative to peaceful coexistence, let them equally realise no amount of force or power application with give them what they have not laboured for and ordained to own.

Troops of 707 Special Forces Brigade, Nigerian Army, on Monday 29th January 2018, raided the shrine and suspected hideout of a notorious native Doctor, Mr. Tordue Gber (Tiv Swem), who act as spiritual adviser to the wanted armed criminal militias at Tor-Dunga town, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State.

During the operation, the troops succeeded in arresting the occupant, Gber (Tiv Swem), who is an ally of the wanted notorious criminal, Akwazar Terwase (alias Gana). It will be recalled that he was declared wanted by the security agencies and has been at large since 2016.

Preliminary investigation shows that
Mr. Tordue Gber (Tiv Swem) acts as spiritual counselor that provides Gana with “diabolical” powers and the shrine serves as hideout for wanted armed militia, meeting and planning point for operations and logistics base for the criminal armed militias that operate in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States.

The native Doctor was arrested along with one of his accomplice, Mr. Atoo Kuwe Francis, while planning to carry out an attack and abduct one Mr. Zaya at Tse Bente village in the same LGA. However, Mr. Tordue was shot dead during the struggle to disarm him.

The troops recovered a locally fabricated Pistol, 2 Baretta Pistols, 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 3 motorcycles and assorted charms. Other items include warm clothings for concealing weapons, 2 Mobile telephones and 3 power generators, amongst other items at the hideout.

According to multiple trending reports, these Fulani herdsmen were caught with guns at about 2am today on their way to Okpe community in Akoko Edo LGA in Edo state. The herdsmen were apprehended on their way to allegedly attack the community, sources reveal.

They were caught by a vigilante group and handed over to the police in Igarra area of the state.

A man has been allegedly killed by police officers at a checkpoint on his way to Zamfara state. According to Hassan Sidi, the man was driving a hilux van conveying rice when he approached customs officials at a checkpoint who allegedly requested a bribe from him.

According to information gathered, the driver and father of three children offered to give the customs agents N1000 but they declined and asked him to add extra N500. He reportedly ignored them and drove away.

The customs officials were said to have notified the police who were some meters away that a criminal with a stolen vehicle was approaching them.

On sighting the said vehicle, the police operatives at their checkpoint opened fire on him. He reportedly lost control and crashed the vehicle as he came out alive to explain he's not a thief.

The policemen were said to have shot at him again - killing him in the process.

It was reported on Wednesday, January 24 that one 19-year-old girl identified as Chiburuoma Boms ‘was allegedly strangled to death and forced into a septic tank by persons said to be her relations in Elekahia, PHALGA, Rivers state.

It was gathered that men of the Elekahia Police Station arrested six persons who are helping the police with investigation while the deceased's corpse has been evacuated from the pit and taken to the mortuary for autopsy.

Now according to media personality, Babaduks Ons, the girl's father allegedly dragged and carried her from his house and threw her into the septic tank where she died. According to the report, her father said she brought shame and reproach to him and the family with her "wild lifestyle" and he could not take it anymore.

The father reportedly handed himself over to the police after the alleged act.
