There is nothing in the world that will make Jonathan to loose the 2015 election. Unless God says so. |
SirShymex:The bolded is what I think every black person should be concerned about most especially Nigerians. I know for sure that the west and the east are not our friends - forget their pretenses. They are afraid of our potentials and might never want us to rise; so anything that will break their ranks and and conspiracy against Africa and engender true capitalist competition in global sphere is welcomed by me. |
Hmm, this is interesting; how I wish I have all the time to read these intelligent posts. Reading through these barrage of posts imbues in me the hope for a better Nigeria. Knowing full well that 'Nigeria Has got talent'. Surprisingly this is the first time I see someone take on 'almighty Missy89' and giving her a run for her knowledge. All the same kudos to missy89 and shymex, you guys are simply outstanding. |
I wish Paul Okorie (action) be adopted by PDP. That guy has a knack for hardwork and creativity. |
Nice arguments from shymex and missy, Though it appears missy is so sure of Americas absolute political dominance, that she tends to see other countryies advances as paper tiger. For me I think the points raised by shymex and nairamint show their depth of understanding in the evolving politics of the 21st century. On a final note I believe we will witness a paradigm shift in the world's political landscape. |
Childish. |
You said the truth. |
Missy89: I disagree with this analogy completely. War is always about borders. that's what gave birth to Geopolitics and Sphere of Influences. That is why Ukraine is what it is today between the major powers. that is Why Crimea was taken. The 28 countries is just a symbol. NATO is america/Britain. What do you think Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, etc can bring to the table when hostilities starts? most of them don't even have up to 20k standing/Battle ready troops.Honestly, Missy you are too much!! |
I doubt if Putin ever made this statement. It reminds me a similar case where Barroso made claims against Putin, which he later retracted days after, when Putin threatened to expose hm. But the fact remains that Russia has the capacity to invade the countries mentioned by Putin and NOTHING absolutely will happen, except some hot air from NATO. No country in the world can risk a nuclear war with Russia not even the US. Russia remains the Number one nuclear power in the world. |
Western propaganda at work. |
Methinks we will be fooling ourselves if we think that Americas incursion into Syria will be for the purpose of fighting ISIS. Simply, America wants to use IsIS as a ploy to remove Assad, but predictably they will fail. I was certain that Putin will win the tug of war with the US over Ukraine and true to my predictions the least that will happen in Ukraine is that Donbas becomes a federalized entity and after 10 years or so may vote to join Russia as their partner Crimea did. This time again, Americas incursion into Syria May be all that is required to start a global war... And I'm certain that just as Iraq it will be a case of oh had we known we shouldn't have invaded Syria. |
A new Cold War is in the offing. |
sangresan: ....Look,the Russian Bear is as powerful as any country in the world...Never use the economy of a nation to gauge its ability to wage war oooo...You expressed my thoughts... I was only quoting the poster above me, and didn't want to engage in an endless argument. |
Russia is not as powerful as you think. Russia's economy is still relatively weak, despite its natural resources. Thanks your points are well noted. |
@ carefreewannabe, Sister, I do not have the english or dictionary meaning if a multi polar world, but politically, it is a situation where there are many centers of global activities. Different or many structures of command, it is antithetical of a unipolar world where only one center of command exist and in this case only the United sates calling the shots. Obviously, examples abound of how the US overtime have manifested its singular authority and forced the entire global comity of nations to accept its verdict. I need not to mention the injustice that belied the war in Iraq and how Saddam was murdered in a cold blood. The world saw what happened and pretended to be busy. Such example shows the inherent abnormality in a unipolar world. You have asked me what is Russia's role in a multi polar world and why I think the advent of multipolarity is inevitable? I want you to know that Russia is a military SUPERPOWER and there are arguments very valid argument that Russia'S military strength both nuclear and conventional strength surpasses that of the US. If not for Russia's military strength Ukraine would have been a member of NATO. So from the foregoing with its military strength Russia is putting America in check... No longer as America pleases! Ditto china in economic power. A clear example of multi polarity, America discovered shale oil and subsequently it led to a decrease in her oil importation. Initially, with this kind of development countries like Nigeria will starting having trade deficit but conversely Nigeria is having trade surplus thanks to India. What happened was that immmidiately America reduce its oil Importation from Nigeria, India stepped in and replaced america effectively. Such an example is the blessing associated with multipolarity. If you need more lecture on this you can go online and search for Putin's Munich speech of 2007. In that speech Putin clearly stated that a unipolar world is not only impossible to practice but that it is dead in today's world. I think that speech was what made Putin to be a chief enemy of the west and must be.... (Your guess is as good as mine) |
@ EMANYO1 I've heard a lot of these arguments about the possibility of US thrashing Russia in a military engagement under a republican govt. even though I wouldn't want to call such supposition an outright case of extreme ignorance... I would still prefer to let you know that the military doctrine of a country is not contingent on who the leader is. If USA military doctrine is to fight any perceived enemy it does not matter who is occupying White House. This is USA and not Nigeria, an example, Americas military strategy says - Do Not Negotiate with Terrorists, this is their foreign policy dictates, even if a toddler is the president he won't change the rule. I also want you to know that in 2008 Russia invaded Georgia backed with all military assurances from the USA yet the Georgian forces fell within four days of fighting, Viola your almighty Bush (a republican president) pretended not to have noticed what happened. In 1999 Russia led by Putin thrashed the Chechen forces in a month though it was backed by the west. You may well read about Vietnam war and Cuban missile crises and find out for yourself what a war between the east and west will look like. Point is; nobody wants war and I think the greatest mistake America will make is to provoke a nuclear war with Russia, my brother for a truth that will be the end of America. Certainly, a multi polar world is herein inevitable. |
Missy89: There are counter measures against the S400 thou minimal since they are mobile (Miniature Air Launched Decoy (MALD)) I still don't think the US air-force would be able to penetrate Russia's airspace because they have a decent air-force and air defenseGood point! But I don't ever think USA will want to engage Russia in a nuclear conflict. For me it doesn't make any sense, MAD is very much an indisputable fact. Have you noticed Putin's body language lately, he seems unperturbed by everything west and he looks ready to tackle the west in every direction. Mehn that guy is a complete badass, I understand that he is make an encroachment into Estonia and is changing the Russia's military doctrine to a pre-emptive strike approach against the USA. The whole drama is getting bloody scary.. I sincerely pray that my fears do not begin to manifest. |
That's where the game is; now!! |
While NATO is contemplating its existential purpose in a world where the Cold War has suddenly come back with a vengeance, and the military alliance has found itself woefully unprepared to deal with a Russia which no longer accepts the supremacy of the west (appropriately enough NATO is doing this on a golf course) Russia is also strategizing, only instead of issuing "sharply-worded catchphrases" and hashtags, a Russian general has called for Russia to revamp its military doctrine, last updated in 2010, to clearly identify the U.S. and its NATO allies as Moscow's enemy number one. That in itself is not disturbing: we reported as much yesterday and is merely more rhetorical posturing. Where things, however, get very problematic is that the general demands that Russia spell out the conditions under which the country would launch a preemptive nuclear strike against the 28-member military alliance. Moscow Times reports that Russia's military doctrine, a strategy document through which the government interprets military threats and crafts possible responses, is being revised in light of threats connected to the Arab Spring, the Syrian civil war and the conflict in Ukraine, the deputy chief of the Kremlin's security council told RIA Novosti on Tuesday. That however is the soundbite for politically correct media purposes. Because within the Defense Ministry there are voices calling for different priorities. "First and foremost, the likely enemy of Russia should be clearly identified in this strategic document, something absent from the 2010 military doctrine. In my view, our primary enemy is the U.S. and the North Atlantic bloc," General Yury Yakubov, a senior Defense Ministry official, was quoted as saying by Interfax. If this sounds like a statement taken right out of the (first) Cold War, one involving the whole nuclear arms race, is because it is. The 2010 doctrine defines NATO expansion as a threat to Russian national security and reaffirms its right to use nuclear weapons in a defensive posture, but stops far short of declaring NATO as Moscow's primary adversary and laying preemptive nuclear strike scenarios on the table, a posture unmistakably reminiscent of the Cold War. At the basis of this dramatic escalation is none other than Russia's stated response to what it perceives as a clear expansionary NATO threat. Yakubov said the information war being waged over the crisis in Ukraine — where the West accuses Russia of arming separatists fighting the government in Kiev — and NATO's announcement that it would establish a permanent military presence in Eastern Europe have validated earlier fears that the alliance's claims of non-aggression toward Russia were insincere. And the punchline: the general added that special attention should be paid to integrating the functions of the newly created Air and Space Defense Forces with Russia's land, sea and air based nuclear forces. "In addition, it is necessary to hash out the conditions under which Russia could carry out a preemptive strike with the Russian Strategic Rocket Forces," he said. One can be certain that this is precisely what Russia will do. So what happens next? Recall what former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said in November 2008 in his first presidential address to the Russian people: "Russia will deploy Iskander missile systems in its enclave in Kaliningrad to neutralize, if necessary, the anti-ballistic missile system in Europe." An anti-ballistic missle system also known as NATO. Which it did less than a year ago, long before the Ukraine civil war was headline news every day. This is what happened the last time Russia flexed its nuclear deterrence muscles, in November of 2013. Russia has stationed missiles with a range of about 500 kilometers in its Kaliningrad enclave and along its border with the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, Germany’s Bild-Zeitung reports, citing defense officials it didn’t identify. Satellite images show a “double-digit” amount of mobile units identified as SS-26 Stone in NATO code. Missiles were stationed within the past 12 months. SS-26 can carry conventional as well as nuclear warheads. This is merely Russia being true to its warning word. From April 2012: Moscow reiterated on Tuesday it may deploy Iskander theater ballistic missiles in the Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad that will be capable of effectively engaging elements of the U.S. missile defense system in Poland. NATO members agreed to create a missile shield over Europe to protect it against ballistic missiles launched by so-called rogue states, for example Iran and North Korea, at a summit in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2010. The missile defense system in Poland does not jeopardize Russia’s nuclear forces, Army General Nikolai Makarov, chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, said. “However, if it is modernized…it could affect our nuclear capability and in that case a political decision may be made to deploy Iskander systems in the Kaliningrad region,” he said in an interview with RT television. “But that will be a political decision,” he stressed. “So far there is no such need.” A little over two years later, there is a need. Which means forget "little green men" in Ukraine. Think massive Russian Iskander ICBM systems planted on the border with Poland, Ukraine, the Baltics and all across Russia Western border, and the furious screamfest this would waterfall into. We can't wait to see how algos will spin such pre-emptive steps to a very mushroom cloudy World War III..

Of course the west can never mess with Russia militarily, all the west can do is to blow some hot air and throw some ineffective sanctions. Putin has all the cards! |
desmondoo: People don't understand why mastercard is involved on this. The reason is simply because of monetary transaction platform embeded in it. That's all. As for the identity database of nigerians, we run it, we manage it and we maitain it. This's a huge project which hav an imense benefit like in electorial process, revenue generation, crime reduction, banking transaction(mastercard comes in), travelling, etc. This wll make life easy in time to come. I cannot give u al d reasons why we are building this database. Relax , this wll take nigeria to a greatr height. CheersWhen people like you make comments on nairaland, I become proud of our heritage... At least there are Nigerians who understand the complexities of a multi cultural society. Keep it up brother, the sky is your starting point! |
Unemadu: We wouldnt have had any international flights at all if not for Jonathan admin. Now there is every likelihood that the Niger bridge will be built. Give the guy a break cos he too is fighting Northern forces. My brother Unemadu, judging from your post I'm very proud of your intellectual contribution. You are a star! If you don't mind can I ask you what you think of the next year guber election in Enugu state? |
Unemadu: We wouldnt have had any international flights at all if not for Jonathan admin. Now there is every likelihood that the Niger bridge will be built. Give the guy a break cos he too is fighting Northern forces. |
Smooyis: Am i wrong to think that all this is as a result of Nigeria's non-approval of gays law in Nigeria. I believe it is so. We shall overcome!Spot on sometimes I get the feeling also... And seeing our potentials the west is becoming envious of Nigeria. |
Greensaint: Do nigerians really follow world political trends? Who sarted the crisis in ukraine by instigating civil disobedience to a duely elected government because they are pro-Russian? What is wrong with a government being in good terms with their nearest neigbhour & kins in next door country? American wants to dictate what happens in every country in the world but abandon them when they fall into deep shit. When the break-up of nigerian was not playing to their prediction they have to infect us with ebola through one of their agents from liberia.Word! Not every post on nairaland you respond to, (like the post above you) some posts are just meant to be ignored. Nevertheless your post is on point. |
presido1: Was telling a friend of mine in Ukraine that he should be planning an exit strategy but he never believed me. If the west don't stop this their meddling this war will soon reach Kiev by way of suicide bombing.Honestly, me too taught the same way. Upon proven Victoria Nuland outburst yet those lily liveried leaders will never learn. I have given up on EU leaders and I even hope this their confrontation with Russia will escalate - so that their will be crises in EU such will cause the ouster of most of their weakling leaders. |
For me I think it is certain that EU will some how severe it's links with the US, maybe not now but probably in the nearest future. The madness Uncle Sam keeps pushing EU into is becoming worrisome and disadvantageous for the EU hence their desire to make a strong decision. The crises between Ukraine and Russia will always be won by Russia. Unfortunately Ukraine will become another Somalia or ... All these are happening to warn some african countries who are always won't to get into one stupid partnership or the other with the west. The west are just bloody selfish! Certainly after this Ukraine imbroglio multipolarity will be confirmed, as Putin has always been a strong advocate of it. |
@ shymex, I got you... So when EU was imposing sanctions on Russia they didn't remember there was A WTO, goodness, how hypocritical can people be to satisfy the rage of Uncle Sam. |
SirShymex: I think her hands her tied, and World War 2 fiasco is still lingering over Germany's head. I guess that was why all the sanctions against Russia were just for 3 months. I honestly don't think ayone envisaged Putin going that far and playing dirty, since the Russian sanctions might be against WTO.Pleas shymex kindly explain what you mean by- anyone envisaged Putin going that far and playing dirty, since the Russian sanctions might be against WTO? |
U 4got that d gas has to pass thru ukraine and some other pro us countries bc d xtance frm russia to china is almost 6000km.Unless dey both want to spend billions of dollars and years to build a dedicated pipeline.[/quote] That's exactly what they are doing. |
At OP, Honestly, what I'm yet to understand is the blind and sheepish EU's obedience to the US... Can't the EU for once be their own voice, from the beginning of this crises it was clear that EU was just a pun in the hand of the US and then I was confident that EU will find its own voice but I was left very disappointed. Putin warned the EU that sanctions will boomerang on them and ironically Americas second quarter economy grew by almost four percent while those of the EU are nosediving. The truth of the matter is that this game will be won by Putin, because EU can not afford another recession at this time and fighting between The rebel and Ukraine government will never end against Putin instead Putin will invade the country and just watch as the yanks will quietly crawl back into their hole... After all he did it to the Georgians! |
SirShymex: I hear that.Honestly, I do sometimes get the feeling that missy has something lying under her mattress... that lady knows too-much! |
