Its new to me and I can't seem find the meaning even through google.

Back to the write-up, I concur with the arguments peddled by the lawyer. The law cannot definitely be a source of confusion, only human beings would confuse each other. Ofcourse, this is Nigeria where every single item is twisted, severed and politicized all for selfish purposes.
The author asks God to forbid a constitution that envisages all situations. Well, I believe the law must be explicitly clear and not leave anything to conjecture of humans. Left to some human beings, a lawless society is paradise.

Whatever happens at the end of the day will constitute a landmark of jurisprudential relevance in the matters concerning electoral cases in Nigeria. It infact opens up a fresh aspect in the legal world which will be of interest to scholars and researchers.

Angry twitter fans hit hard on the Social media commentator and writer, Japheth Omojuwa over a tweetmeet he had with Osun Governor, Rauf Aregbesola.

While many described the tweetmeet as a disgrace and waste of time, many alleged he had been bought over by the Governor. Responding, Omojuwa absolved himself of been bribed by the Governor or any other politician but instead insisted he is a man who creates value to meet his needs.

The Governor used the medium to answer many questions on the minds of Nigerians about his administration especially issues on the payment of workers' salaries.

The Governor himself was not spared by the torrents and fireballs of anger and abuses which sent the social media space boiling.

Again, PDP squanders yet another golden opportunity to warm itself into the heart of Nigerians.

Either you hang it or not, it doesn't the change the reality. And the reality is that Mr Buhari is the President of Nigeria. -lawfully elected and widely accepted.

Practices such as this coming from an opposition is not healthy for democracy.

This is a negation of PDP's promise to Nigerians to provide quality,crisp and useful opposition which would help keep the government on its toes and strengthen our nascent democracy.

We all know opposition party system in Nigeria is purely built on propaganda, lies and falsehood. No political party can absolve itself of this.

Allegations without facts is fiction. Allegations prompted out of mere hearsay is not worth the attention of any Nigerian, even for a second. Many politicians are in love with fiction.

In any case of sudden unrest or its similarities, they are on the next flight to london or ghana.

Social media and the blogospheric environment should be for information and social interaction, not for cursing or maligning or abuses or fanning embers of religious or ethnical violence and discrimination. even when we disagree, We ought to learn to make our points without resorting to calling each other all sorts of demeaning and unprintable names.

If i were there, i won't join in condemning that act. The governor hasn't moved into that place and secondly, this is a matter of national security, some procedures have to be put on hold, else the whole purpose will be defeated.
The source of those weapons should be investigated and the governor must tell Nigerians all he knows about that arsenal of a government house.

The race for the Bayelsa State governorship ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has begun as the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Timi Alaibe, was monday among the nine persons who procured the Expression of Interest and nomination forms to contest the governorship primary of the party in the state.

Those confirmed to have picked the forms and indicated interest to contest the primary were former member of the House of Representative, Hon. Warman Ogoriba; former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Col. Sam Inokoba; former state Housing Commissioner, Austin Ogiowon; former Commissioner for Local Government, Chief Godknows Powell and former Chief of Staff to the state Governor, Seriake Dickson, Chief Dikivie Ikhiogha.

Although it could not be confirmed at press time, it was however gathered that a former governor and state leader of the APC, Chief Timipre Sylva, may have also picked his forms for the race from the national secretariat of the party.

Also listed among those who have procured their forms are former Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Council, Hon. Christopher Enai and ex-senator representing Bayelsa East senatorial district, Senator Clever Ikhisikpo.

Alaibe’s form, according to party source, was procured by some elders and stakeholders from the state under the aegis of the Bayelsa Change Project.

“This afternoon, some elders picked the nomination form for Alaibe at the APC national secretariat. The group of over 48 members was led by Senator John K. Brambaifa. Others are Chief Alex Ekiotenne, Hon Stella Dorgu, Chief O’Lord Michael Bassuo,” the source said.
Meanwhile, the battle line has at last been drawn between the state Governor, Seriake Dickson, his predecessor, Chief Timipre Sylva and Alaibe over the governorship of the state.

The state government in a statement by one of its proxy media organs claimed that “the race of who picks the governorship ticket of the APC for the December 5 governorship election in the state may have been settled between Sylva and Alaibe.

“If the arrangement sails through, Sylva will now shelve his governorship ambition for Alaibe, but that will come at some huge concessions as Alaibe has offered a N5 billion cash inducement to Sylva as well as a firm commitment to ensure that the party leader becomes a minister and nominate his deputy and five commissioners in his cabinet if he wins the election.

In what is said to be a secret deal, Alaibe reportedly told one of his aides that the deal concluded at a secret meeting in Port-Harcourt over the weekend involved some “significant tradeoffs.”

In addition, the source said Alaibe had also offered to weigh in through his contacts to make sure that Sylva’s case at the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) was dropped because he has the support of former President Olusegun Obasanjo who would in turn talk to President Muhammadu Buhari to facilitate the ministerial position and close the EFCC trial.

But the political intrigues continued at the weekend as the Tiwe Orunimigha-led faction of the APC also endorsed Sylva as the candidate of the party for the election.

On his part, Sylva, curiously, was also said to have told Alaibe that he needed time to consult and would get back to him on his offer ‘very soon’.
Following the weighty allegation, another group, Bayelsa Democratic Front (BDF), said to be in support of Sylva has criticised Dickson for allegedly sponsoring publications in the media aimed at causing tension in the APC in the state.

In a statement issued yesterday in Yenagoa, the President-General of BDF, Chief Promise Okpoebi, said the publications were a failed attempt by a “nervous” Dickson to truncate a political tsunami that is set to sweep him out of office.

The statement said: “In the latest of these publications, the APC leader in the state, Sylva, was alleged to have made a deal with former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Alaibe, who recently joined APC, to concede the party’s governorship ticket to him (Alaibe) in return for N5 billion compensation and a ministerial nomination.

“The report also alleged that Sylva was offered the right to nominate Alaibe’s deputy and five commissioners in his cabinet if he wins the election, and that Alaibe also offered to use his contacts to ensure the discontinuation of the case against Sylva at the EFCC.
“These postulations are not only false, they are flagrantly out of sync with reality.

“To start with, even the most laidback of citizens in the state and, indeed, Nigeria today, know that Alaibe is not in a position to nominate Sylva as a minister under the President Buhari administration. As a leader of APC in the state and a national leader of the party, Sylva had only recently led other party stakeholders to receive Alaibe and many other prominent indigenes of the state into APC. It is only laughable for anyone to reason that Alaibe would suddenly be the one recommending Sylva to the president.

“Besides, Sylva has not yet told anyone that he wants to contest the governorship election.
“On the N5 billion compensation allegation, we wonder where Alaibe would get such a huge sum of money, particularly, at this era of anti-corruption campaign under Buhari. Will he send it by cash, bank transfer or cheque?”

Regarding the allegation that Alaibe had offered to weigh in, using his links with President Obasanjo on Sylva’s case before the EFCC, the BDF stated that: “We are not aware that President Obasanjo has become the chairman of EFCC or the authority to which EFCC reports.

“We know Sylva is having his day in court, but he has left no one in doubt about his ability to prove his innocence in the charges leveled against him. Dickson should make no mistake about it; he will have his own day in court when he loses the governorship election as all indications point to that direction. He should not think that Bayelsans would take the huge corruption going on under his watch easily.”
BDF said the publications had also tried to portray Obasanjo as sponsoring certain candidates in the state governorship poll.

“These are all lies that cannot sway Bayelsans from their resolve to change the four-year-old anguish under Dickson. Having being rejected by the people and even his most trusted allies in a historic effort to change the lot of the state, Dickson is trying every trick in the book to try to truncate the course of a political tsunami set to sweep him away from the governorship seat. But he cannot successfully swim against the tide,” the group said.

But Alaibe in a statement signed by Mr. Patterson Ogon accused the state government of smear campaigns against him.


According to the statement, “The attention of Alaibe has been drawn to media reports linking him to a purported clash between officials of the Bayelsa State Sanitation Authority and some people on August 29.

“The highly speculative report, which has received very generous airtime in a section of the state media is false, mischievous, malicious and intended to bring the integrity and character of Alaibe into disrepute.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Alaibe was not anywhere in the state on the day of the purported incident and could not have engaged in such juvenile display of power by any stretch of imagination. We dissociate Alaibe from any fracas between the state sanitation authority and anybody whatsoever.”

For coming late to work monday, 31 civil servants that cut across various ministries and departments in Ekiti State were yesterday recommended for serious disciplinary actions by the state government.

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, who had arrived the State Secretariat located along Ado-new Iyin road in company of the
Head of Service, Dr. Gbenga Faseluka, were caught napping and found it difficult to extricate themselves from blame, having been warned by government at various fora.

Some of the workers came to work at about 8.30 am, which the governor described as unfortunate and unacceptable to his government.
The affected workers, who burst into tears, had prostrated while those who were women, had knelt down and begged the governor to rescind the pronouncement to save them from being sacked.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, in a statement in Ado-Ekiti, said the visit was part of unscheduled visits the governor would be paying to government offices.

The governor, who arrived the State Secretariat along New Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti by 8am, ordered that the main gate be locked.

The governor, who expressed displeasure at the attitude of some workers in the state, said such acts of indiscipline must be stopped.
He ordered his aides and the Head of Service to take down the names of the affected workers as stern disciplinary action must be taken against them.

“If a labourer is worth his wages, the employer also is worth his services. I have warned workers in the state repeatedly about coming late to work or taking their jobs with laxity. Despite the paucity of funds, we have been regularly paying workers’ salaries.

“If workers are paid regularly, the workers too must justify our efforts and work for the money they earn. There are many people out there searching for jobs. I want to take the workers by surprise and I will visit a lot of places. This will be a continuous exercise.

“Those that are not disciplined and not ready to key in to our policy of taking the state to greater height will be shown the way out,” he said.

The Head of Service, Dr. Faseluka said since punctuality is the soul of business, workers must take discharging their duties and coming to work on time with seriousness.

“It is a consummation of what we have been doing concerning punctuality on the part of workers. For the past few weeks, we have been emphasising this. It is time to enforce discipline and we have to mete out sanctions to erring workers. When you issue circular, pleas and some people are recalcitrant you have to sanction them,” the HoS said.

Best man for the job is the way to go. We need to move past this tribe/region thing and focus on building a great Nation. Should a man be denied appointment based on his state of origin? Na wa oo

Well thats in an ideal situation. The situation in Nigeria isn't ideal yet. Nigeria's Democracy is nascent and emerging, federal character cannot be separated from the issues of political appointments. It is the only way no one will feel aggrieved. Illiteracy is commonplace all over.
Native solutions to native problems. It has helped so far. I think OBJ during his regime exemplified this to the very fabric.

I'm not a tribalist and I resent every form of tribalism. No man should be denied appointment simply because he is Yoruba or Igbo or Hausa.
The looters you mentioned are just a microcosm of a larger macrocosm, there are other Nigerians within the same ethnic groups that are as well competent and not corrupt. Its all balancing. Perhaps in a matter of decades Nigerians will mature mentally to see beyond ethnicity, but for now, this permutation remains the viable solution.
