A growing wave of public outrage has trailed allegations against fintech platform PalmPay over its handling of a ₦241,000 erroneous transfer case, with stakeholders now calling for regulatory scrutiny by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The controversy follows a distress appeal by a Nigerian businesswoman, Mrs. Oyedeji, who claims PalmPay has failed to act despite clear indications that the recipient account linked to the transaction has been frozen.

According to Mrs. Oyedeji, the incident occurred on May 8, 2026, when she mistakenly transferred ₦241,000 from her Moniepoint account into a PalmPay account. Upon promptly reporting the error, her bank reportedly confirmed that the beneficiary account had been restricted and advised her to escalate the matter to PalmPay for resolution.

However, weeks after the incident, she alleges that PalmPay has neither provided a clear pathway for redress nor demonstrated urgency in resolving the issue, repeatedly informing her that “nothing can be done.”

the story does not add up, moniepoint can not tell a customer to escalate to Palmpay, that is not how the banking system work, except an unprofessional handled the case. It is moniepoint who is your bank that is suppose to escalate to Palmpay, while you sit and wait for update. If there is no partway yet and recipient bank(Palmpay) is refusing to act, you should hold your bank responsible which is moniepoint, it means they aren't applying enough pressure to Palmpay for a resolution

Dom account 250k and business account from 100k to 500k depending on the one you are going for... Na pride wan almost kill providus bank.. Instead of offering their usual commercial banking, they carried Classism into it and started to selected customer with some specific income bracket. You can't open and account with less than 100k, you running balance must no go below 100k and so many unrealistic rules... Laws guiding operations and all, you only see them when contracted to carry out a mission, you have to have a military/intelligence background before such license can be given.. When there is negative complain about a particular company, the company can be held accountable and people will go to prison and the company license can be revoked.. I mean you chain them, just with a little longer leach than normal..... he can run for senate while still being governor. The only clause is that he can't hold both office at the same time, and his tenor as governor ends in January, and the 11th senate will be sworn in June 2027. So he will complete his term as governor in office, no need to resign

this war as related to strait of hormuz is no longer a military one, it is an insurance one. The thing is even with the military agreeing to escort vessels across the strait, the question is WHICH INSURANCE COMPANY IS READY TO TAKE THAT RISK AND INSURE THE Ship? The answer is NONE, it is too big a risk to take. That is the real problem on why ship will refuse to go through even with military escorts.
