Check if she chose Québec as one of the provinces she'll be settling in.

You don't have to wait to receive ITA before booking for medicals. As long as you know that you will receive ITA, book for your medicals. I booked medicals before I received ITA.

I did an online class at IEF but it was for TEF preparation. Although I did most of my early learning physically at Alliance Française but I will say that Alliance Française has a better beginner friendly style of teaching. When learning languages, foundation is key and I got the right foundation at Alliance.

So if you have a tutor from Alliance, then I think you should be fine. You can do IEF later when you are preparing for the exam.

I started intensive physical classes at Alliance Française in January 2021 till August 2021. I did A1-B1.2 there and left for physical classes at IEF because I decided to start preparing for TEF. I had hoped to write TEF in December 2021, however, I opted for DELF to have a taste of what a French exam will be like. I wasn't ready to throw away 210k for TEF just yet.

I finished my classes at IEF in December then I basically started having online speaking classes as I wasn't sure when I would be writing the exam. I was too scared to sit for the exam and end up failing. My tutor is a native speaker and he's really good.

Fast forward to May 2022, I decided to do TEF in ending of June so I started an online TEF class with IEF. Just when the class was rounding up and I was ready to register, the exam was suspended. I immediately had to switch to TCF. My TEF classes helped a little but the exam structure is quite different. So from July to August, I went back to my private tutor to help me with speaking and writing aspect while for listening, I kept listening to podcasts on RFI and French movies.

Concerning my experience with the exams. From my point of view, the listening aspect of TCF is the hardest because you hear the recording once and that's it.
The other aspects, reading is fairly easier because there are short texts and compared to TEF that have Shakespeare type of texts (sometimes I don't understand anything).
As for writing, you'd have to practice writing three different rédactions in 1 hour.
Speaking was also fairly easy( you can scale through with much practice) The first question is present yourself.

Yes I took the exams on the 8th of September.... It went well. Awaiting the results. Fingers crossed.

Therefore, if you were 100% ready to write TEF before this suspension, you can just spend the next 2 months practising very well to write TCF in Port Harcourt. Last year, I wrote mine there and it went smoothly. Although TCF is the less popular exam, I still think it is a lot easier than the TEF exam.
Nevertheless, I will try to look for some resources that I used to study last year and I'll post the links for those who are interested in writing the exam at the PHC centre.

A friend of mine was able to register for TEF in Bènin for this month.... As at Wednesday when she registered, they only had one slot left. They said they don't admit more than 10 candidates for the exam. They will be going on holiday in August until September. Reaching the institute where the exam is conducted is very difficult because they don't respond to their messages on time and then even if they respond, you'll have an issue paying for it.

My friend had to take a risk and paid someone over there to help her go to the institute to make the payment on her behalf.

This person with phone number +234 802 185 9219, I don't know what his moniker is but he contacted me to sell PayPal funds. We agreed on the rate and then he asked if I'll use wese90 as escrow, I told him yes and then he said he'll contact him. He came back an hour later and said he couldn't reach Wese and that I should send my PayPal email and he will send the funds first. Incidentally Wese just updated his WhatsApp status and I immediately informed him that Wese is online and he should contact him, I didn't hear from him again.

I guess he wanted to send to me and later do a charge back, everyone beware of this scammer.
