Chelsea have signed midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from French champions Monaco for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old France international has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League champions. He becomes Chelsea's second major summer signing after they brought in defender Antonio Rudiger from Roma. Bakayoko, 22, is a tall, strong and quick central midfielder who was instrumental in Monaco’s Ligue 1 triumph last season, as well as their impressive run to the Champions League semi-finals. Bakayoko joined Monaco from Ligue 1 rivals Rennes in 2014 and made his France debut in a friendly defeat by Spain in March this year. He was part of the Monaco squad that reached the Champions League semi-finals last season, going out of the competition to Juventus. Bakayoko, who will wear the number 14 shirt at Chelsea, said: "I am very happy to be here and to join this great team. "I have grown up watching Chelsea. Signing was the natural thing for me because it is a club I loved very much in my childhood. "I am now looking forward to evolving under this fantastic coach [Antonio Conte] and alongside so many great team-mates." His physicality, awareness and timing in the tackle means he is superb at winning the ball back and harassing opponents into mistakes. In a tight central midfield two at Monaco he starred as they unexpectedly beat Paris St-Germain to the title and also reached the last four of the Champions League, knocking out Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund en route. Bakayoko scored the decisive goal in a thrilling two-legged tie against the Premier League side. Born in Paris, Bakayoko came through the Rennes academy in the north-west of France and made his senior debut in August 2013, a week after his 19th birthday. He signed for Monaco the following summer and made almost 100 appearances for the principality side during his three seasons there, scoring five goals.

A mysterious Twitter account created on Sunday (15 December) declared that it was going to "reveal a portion of Uefa's corruption and manipulation" before tweeting the exact Champions League Second Round draw match-for-match one day earlier than the actual draw took place. Under the username @uefacorruption, an ominous tweet stated that "we are going to reveal the results of tomorrow's draw". The timeline then published all eight Champions League Second Round ties that were pulled out of the hat by 2014 Champions League Ambassador Luis Figo. The account tweeted that it was to reveal the draw because of "corruption that is led by people f rom behind the scenes. For economical reasons that are harming the sport." Whether the Twitter account is a hoax account, using another method of predicting the draw, remains unclear but the accurate prophesy has raised eyebrows. Some Twitter users have speculated that whoever is behind the account has set up various profiles, covering every potential draw outcome before deleting the incorrect forecasts and leaving the one correct account up. Uefa's hierarchy are no stranger to corruption allegations, with the Malaga president Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani claiming his side were knocked out of the Champions League due to "corrupt Uefa". Check out the below screenshot of @uefacorruption's eery prediction yesterday and see what you make of it: This screenshot shows the Twitter account @uefacorruption's ominous predictions (Twitter/@uefacorruption) The actual Champions League round of 16 draw: Manchester City v Barcelona Olympiakos v Manchester United AC Milan v Atletico Madrid Bayer Leverkusen v Paris St-Germain Galatasaray v Chelsea Schalke v Real Madrid Zenit St Petersburg v Dortmund Arsenal v Bayern Munich |

I can remember very well that the likes of chrisantus,Rabiu Ibrahim, stanley okoro, sani emmanuel etc were advised to learn from mikel's mistake and not to go to big clubs when they where in hot demand. Although I don't know the mistake mikel made because as far as I'm concerned chelsea brought the best offer. The likes of Toni kroos of munich, lars bender of dortmud, isco of madrid etc played the same age grade tournaments with these nigeria boys but you can't compare sani emmanuel who was the best player at the 09 u-17 world cup and toni kroos. What I'm trying to say is that the progress of these young boys careers is better at big clubs that have the best infrastructure to nurture and develop their talent. |
