The National Youths Caucus of All Progressive Congress (APC), Northwest Zone, on Friday in Kaduna canvassed for total ban on the operations of private schools in the country.

The caucus which held a rally in support of ongoing reforms in the education sector in Kaduna State said the measure was necessary to save public schools from total collapse.

Malam Isiyaku Sarkin Pawa, Secretary of the caucus, said Nigeria must take steps to salvage the education sector from its present poor state in order to build a prosperous and stable nation.

“In the past, everyone attend public schools irrespective of their parents’ status in the society, but because of the establishment of private schools, all public schools have been neglected.’’

He added that public schools which used to be for all classes of people have now become only for the poor, thus encouraging segregation in access to educational opportunities between children of the rich and poor.

“Public schools performance is not too good, that is why we are supporting the governor’s reforms in the education sector,” the secretary added.

Jafaru Sani, the state Commissioner for Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who received the group on behalf of Gov. Nasiru El-Rufai, explained that the reform was not politically motivated but for the benefit of the future generation.

“The state government has done a lot towards improving the education sector, there is no going back on the disengagement of unqualified teachers, instead we will improve on the quality of teachers and education in general,” he said.

He assured that the government would continue to do the right thing in spite of the challenges being faced.

A young lady identified as Fareedah Obadaki who was involved in a gas explosion has shared her recovery story after a terrible accident. The accident reportedly happened while she was baking a wedding cake. The burn survivor narrated that the terrible accident occurred two days after she wrote her final papers as an undergraduate student of law in the University of Abuja. She said the gas explosion left her with serious burns. Obadaki further noted that she would not have been able to share her story three months after the terrible incident without the prayers and well wishes of Nigerians who shared her story.


Newshelm Nigeria came across the story after she shared her story on Instagram. Obadaki, who thanked God for what she survived and everyone who prayed for her. The lady also wished herself a happy birthday as she shared her story.

"Where do I begin my praise from? Tell me there is no God,and I would show you my testimony. It's Almost 3months after the incidence that almost took my life. I had just written my final papers as an undergraduate of law, university of Abuja and barely 2days after, I was involved in a gas explosions accident while baking a wedding cake. I could have been dead and gone or probably even still on my sick bed,but am alive today as a result of all the prayers I had received, indeed God is merciful. To every single blog who took time to involve in the #prayforfareedahobadaki am grateful beyond words. And to all the followers of @lindaikejiblog thanks so much d all the prayers. Grateful heart. Happy birthday to me.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked his children to study hard, saying he will not steal Nigeria's money.

The president said this in a documentary entitled "Buhari: Beyond the Iron and Steel" aired on Nigerian Television Authority last night by the Presidency.

Buhari also said the goodwill he enjoyed from the masses kept him in politics.

He added that his central objective was to provide transparency and accountable government.

I pray five times a day thanking God that allowed people to understand and believe me. This goodwill that I enjoy from the masses is what is keeping me in politics and of course, my central objective is to provide transparency and accountable government," he said

In a chat with Saturday Beats, Singer, Adekunle Gold disclosed his relationship status.

Gold, explained that despite being ready for marriage, he doesn’t feel pressured to get married.

When asked if he was in a relationship with ‘joromi’ singer Simi, he refused to disclose the details.

The singer, who is about 30 years old, said that he was already thinking about marriage but he was not under pressure to get married.

He said, “I am also thinking of marriage because I am a family man. Already, I have a girlfriend but I would not tell you if she is in this industry. I don’t have to tell you if I am dating Simi or not. I cannot reveal my girlfriend’s identity because it could be that she does not want to be known. It could be that I want that aspect of my life to be a secret. People know and love me because of my music.I cannot be married for 10 years and people would not eventually find out. When the time is right, everyone would know who my love interest is. Let’s assume that I am dating Simi, what if it does not work out? I’d love to keep that part of my life secret.”


The singer also addressed the tweet he once tweeted where he asked newly married Adesua Etomi to marry him.

In the interview, he explained that he was only joking as he and Adesua are friends.

He said “People do not know if Adesua is just my friend. They wouldn’t know if my tweet was just banter or if it was real. I guess a lot of people thought it was real and I was asking Adesua out online. Why would I do that? We were just joking and she is my friend.



He further stated,



I even tweeted when she got engaged that I’d not even got the 50, 000 retweets she asked for and she was already engaged. It was just banter but I guess people see what they want to see. Adesua and I never dated; we were/are just friends.


“If we had dated, I would have definitely worked towards marrying her. I mean, who would not want to marry Adesua? That is ‘if’ we had dated but that was never the case.”

Dear Nigerians follow THREAD: Innoson Motors took a loan with @gtbank. They over deducted by over 700m. He took them to court. Court ordered them to pay 2.8B based on accumulated interest. They went to appeal and lost on appeal. They are at the Supreme Court. The accumulated fee as at today stands at over 6B. @gtbank has been bribing officials to evade paying.

Then there is another judgement he got against Nigeria customs for selling his goods illegally. @gtbank was also supposed to pay. They have appealed. Instead of obey the courts, @gtbank resorts to intimidation & frustrating Innoson.
@gtbank mobilized dozens of policemen to pick him up but he is resisting arrest so far with the help of locals in his home in Enugu.
