Adobe Flash and Toon boom can be used to create something like Area.

On Area, Adobe illustrator is used to create the different body parts which are then animated in After Effects.

They've also used Toon boom on other projects.

It's cutout animation like South park , so it takes a very small team a few weeks to a little over a month to produce.

South park is produced by a considerably larger team and take just a week to make an episode.

Art, Graphics & Video / Re: 3 D Printing Service Company - Calling Graphics Designs And Cad Experts. by cgniyi(m): 5:16pm On Oct 24, 2014
This is good news.

We once considered getting a 3d printer at work to create physical samples of our designs to present to clients instead of just using 2d/3d renders
We scrapped the idea for a number of reasons.

Anyways, I'm looking to try it out on personal projects.

Sorry to say though, your site makes you look unprofessional.

Do you have pics of any 3d print you've done , cos everything from your site is obviously off other sites.
At least provide samples, let's know what you are capable of.
Would also like to know the materials you can print with - e.g. ABS , metal

Look at this site for example http://www.shapeways.com/

There are a lot of people interested in this, please step up your game.

reidkrugger:

The Story is about a witty house-keeper trying to brag about his madam as his chic and was almost succeeding until she interrupts him and bla bla. But how could you not have noticed shocked?

I bet you anyone that watches the video would be just as confused. Decent job though.
I noticed you improve on your facial animation and I like what you're doing with your blog (a fellow max user)

reidkrugger:
Where are the Animators? ....

Most of the action seems to be on the Blender side.

Welcome back OKX.

Yeah, winners have been rewarded. Except of course spywareczar , since he's one of the organizers.

NeoTesla:

This is an example of the very pathetic state of mind of many Nigerians. A good number of these greats are not even remotely interested in the meaningless struggle for wealth grabbing. Materialism is too dumb a notion to be accommodated in their minds. They are very contented with living decent lives and are highly respected in the community of intellectuals. By the way, without calculus, the efficient algorithms that run on the device used to make this post would likely have been impossible to analyze. Some of these guys and their kind have contributed immensely to civilization as we have come to know it;and this, to sane people, is what matters in the real world.

elliottibanga:
Potatoe, Please enlighten us on the actual "sheet" that matters in the "real world" today.

I've just been called an Insane potatoe smiley

Anyways, wasn't trying to belittle the contributions of geniuses to the society, but remember my post was in response to sexylogan's comment-

"isnt it funny that the worlds richest people and most powerful leaders dont have high IQs?"

My point is genius doesn't necessarily translate to success.

sexylogan: isnt it funny that the worlds richest people and most powerful leaders dont have high IQs?

i guess being intelligent doesnt necessarily translate to Naira and Kobo...

Yes nah!, cos all these "geniuses" are busy playing chess, solving advanced calculus or travelling to space - basically, sh*t that don't matter in the real world

Art, Graphics & Video / Re: Your Thoughts On The New Guiness Add. by cgniyi(m): 11:57am On Sep 09, 2014
You can watch it on Youtube. Just search for "Made of black".
All I can say is Guiness is brave to show this on Nigerian TV.
Someone here is already calling it devilish grin, plus some other not-so-positive response on the youtube comments.
Best revert to "my friend Udeme" grin

Hope I didn't miss anyone.
Normally would ask that contestants send their final high-res render to my box, maybe next time.

I know I stated at the beginning that the final renders would be presented to Nairalanders to vote, but I think that would be a waste of time.
I'll be presenting the works to the concept artist and his team.It shouldn't be too difficult to decide the winners wink

prof800:
Please can there be late submissions.?
How many hours can you give sir.?
@jjk24 where is your final render (full image)?
PLUS;
blueblack, shimish, ladanski, tmebaanne, chuksxy where are your final renders?

Nah! It's been almost 4 weeks for the duration.I'm in the process of compiling on the submissions and presenting to the judges

I would like to congratulate everyone that participated in the challenge. It wasn't easy at all, but kudos to everyone that still delivered
Some of expressed the challenges they faced creating the model but still managed to produce something in the end regardless.
All complaints will be considered when deciding the next modelling challenge ( no anytime soon though)
Any further suggestions to make the whole thing better next time are welcomed.

In the end, the idea of the whole thing is to provide a platform for learning and improving, so whatever subject chosen should always provide a reasonable challenge.

Wow, not easy using a mouse to sculpt. Very decent result regardless.

Still a few more days before the deadline.

Kudos to all the participants so far

spywareczar: i have zbrush 4R6 though, dont know my way around it, present downloading some basic tuts

Since you sculpt already in C4D, getting into Zbrush shouldn't be too difficult, I think.
I've had a lot of Zbrush tuts for years now, but I only started sculpting this year when I finally got a Wacom Intuos.

Btw, do u guys use a tablet to sculpt in blender/C4D?
Art, Graphics & Video / Re: 3d Modelling Challenge : Lava Man by cgniyi(m): 11:42am On Aug 12, 2014
Tos87: ...hmm i stil beleive ma blender guys can do better.
I'm not doubting the blender users, but judging from the competition so far, Zbrush is just superior when it comes to sculpting
Another method would be to use displacement maps like OKX suggested
Art, Graphics & Video / Re: 3d Modelling Challenge : Lava Man by cgniyi(m): 10:12am On Aug 12, 2014
kazuna: GUys i am givin up....this model is way too repetitive and almost a bore.....not to talk of the polygons it is eating off my mistress.....
WILL WAIT FOR THE ANIMATION.
spywareczar: Over 3million polygons , So far my system hangs lyk 4 times already cry had to forcefully shut it down with d power button, I think I'll just do it anyhow and submit, coz if I should subdivided the model again, it'll slow my system and it'll be hanging every damn minute

My apologies! smiley I just assumed any software that has sculpting features ( modo, Blender,c4d) is optimized to handle very high polygon count.
Seems Zbrush is very unique.
It's still just 32bits and it handles high polycounts better than other 64bit softwares.
It also doesn't need a high-end graphics card to run, unlike Mudbox.

I advice everyone to check out Zbrush
