forget lagarback and his plan to contain,  if you are down by an unexpected goal you change tactics right away!!!!  you dont play like its still nil=nil.
i blame the coach for not being able to motivate those boys to fight harder period.   football is about passion, and if you lack that vital ingredient, nothing  will  be produced on the pitch.

i hope for the next game we can improve our enthusiasm on the field coz playing the next two matches like this will see us packing our bags and going home.
for Christ sake! we are playing on African soil, and  it should show in our spirit on the pitch.
No you don't!!! in the 6th minute? Are you new to football? undecided undecided undecided
Not with the quality of players on show.
Tactics changed in the middle of the second half even earlier than I was expecting.

South Korea will surely give Argentina a tougher opposition; its not a bad idea going to borrow their coach but come of it we have good local coaches if only they can be giving the right support and free hand.
Do you think we are better than the Koreans?
Most people are thinking we would win our next 2 matches, I'm not too sure about that.
Lagerback's subs were SPOT ON. . . . . .
His plan was to contain Argentina like i said earlier but the goal they conceded early changed the dynamics of the game.
Plan A failed and he quickly deployed plan B as early as the 52nd minute. . . . .Amodu woulda waited till the 87th minute before changing anything.
Exactly my sentiment!

Taiwo got injured, he took him off and put on an attacking player (Uche).
He went for it - thats being positive. What I like to see.

Amodu woulda replaced him with another defender . . . nothing wrong with that but sometimes you just have to take risks.

Sagamite:
In a good team play, the keeper should not be exposed that amount of times. THAT AMOUNT OF ONE-ON-ONES!
That is because of the quality of the opposition.
It is understandable, you cant expect him to go gong ho against the Argies.
When you are on the back foot, you will most likely get exposed, not with the players we have any way.

Crossing corners and freekicks is not like penalty. There is no pressure on you, just focus.
So how is that the coaches fault?
If you are lousy at it for 90mins, then the coach has been poor in appointing set piece takers. 90 mins of APPALLING set pieces!
So who should he have appointed?
Taiwo takes most freekicks anyway, when its deeper Mikel normally takes them.

Agreed. So I was right that it made NO SENSE changing the coach that qualified you for WC?
Agreed! But when the coach has lost his players, then there has to be a change.
The only thing here is - this change can be a negative or posistive change. But we wont know yet!
The players were not playing for Amodu so we needed a fresh approach.

I pray so, I can't blame the man.

Agreed. But my point is that our players did not play to their potential. Some on the pitch were hopeless but yet some few that will condemn Amodu for this, are quick to praise a white coach.
Totally agree! Messi doesn't play to his potential all the time right?
What I'm saying is if this keeps happening, then I'd be worried but judging just from one game especially with the level of opponent is not concrete.
I can see why some are praising the white coach.
Sagamite, It is normal to play a 'containing' style of football against a better opposition for obvious reasons until a certain time. Did you see how the game changed for last 20 minutes, thats a normal approach to me.

Hell no, I expected them to dominate. I just did not expect us to be that poor and petrified.
Agreed but that is something that can be worked on.
The players were nervous wouldn't say petrified but that was Human and Normal.
If they were petrified as you put it, against Greece then that would worry me.

Sagamite:
What is the point of paying N10m a year to not improve our set piece play. That one should be part of tactics in training, so that is coaches responsibility WHEN IT IS APPALLING EVERYTIME, not just once. A few times, players fault. Everytime wasted, then they did not have some plan.

They only did better than expected BASED ON KEEPERS performance not some team stopping attack. That is a whole lot of difference.

If it is that Arg played but we defended and frustrated them, I will clap. Arg is superior.

But they almost scored a basketful if not for Enyeama. How am I suppose to applaud the team then?
No one is expecting you to applaud the team.
The keeper is part of the team right?

A coach can work on set piece in training - CORRECT!!! but when the delivery is poor, you would rarely have any outcome.
It's just like practicing penalties in training, its not the same as playing it when it matters.

Did they pay him 10M to improve our set piece?
You cannot judge him now  . . . . not in less than 4 months in charge.
Mourinho would not have made any major improvement with that squad in the same time frame.

Will we play like this against Korea and Greece? Definitely not.
It's two different game . . . . the man has barely managed 5 games and we expect massive improvement.

'If' or 'almost' doesn't count in football . . . . . at the end, result will show 1-0.
Like I said before, performance was nothing to write home about but you have to put certain things into consideration.
Quality of players, quality of opposition and so on.

Did you expect us to dominate the Argies?
We were the underdog by a mile and them having so many chances was understandable.
NOw if this same thing happened against the GREEKS for example, then that might be a concern.

Over here in UK, Phil McCarthy the former Ireland manager was just criticising the hopeless play of our players for 70 mins!

DID YOU WATCH THE MATCH?

Argentina used us as training day passing material and the players played like if they were not interestd for 70 mins.

Poor touch!

Poor passes!

Getting closed down!

Poor marking!

Even poor throwins!

Lousy freekicks and corner kicks!

Keeper saving 5 goals!

WHADDAFUCK are you talking about?
You are being too harsh.

Bad touch, bad throws, bad set pieces are not directly the coaches fault.
Those are basic skills, you cant teach those.

The passing wasn;t the best but you should expect the players to be nervous on the ball as they were playing a more superior side. That is normal everywhere in football. They didn't want to commit players into the box because we cant keep possession.
A team that cant keep possession in a game should not commit players forward especially against top oppositions.

The team has not improved greatly which is understandable but the blueprint is there.
They actually did better than what I exoected.

The whole Black vs White thing is crap to me. Siasia woulda done a better job than Amodu in my opinion.
Another major point is RESPECT . . . . . Do the players respect AMODU? Do they want to play for him?  NO!!!

Managers have been sacked numerous times just for losing the dressing room
You cant expect a miracle within the short period of time Lager has had.

The organisation and structure have improved but just slightly.
