It would have been a different story for a man who survived a truck accident yesterday in Benue state after the vehicle hit his car and kept dragging it along the road till it hit another parked car. Berger Alfred Emberga, took to Facebook to share his horrifying experience. Read below; God alone deserves all the praises. How God saved me from what would have been a deadly motor accident. How it started. while I was driving to town from Northbank through old bridge, one guy who was in the truck, also driving to old bridge in attempt to over take me, picked my car from the driver's side and dragged me three streets away (250 meters) on the road before pushing me to the other side of the road. It was my friend Benard Ukpe and I who were in the car. We heard a sound of a hit on our car, and the next place we saw ourselves was in the front of the truck dragging us on the road, this time my car has changed position. I tried all I could do to get my car off the front of the truck to no avail, the truck kept dragging us on the road. How my car that was hit by the driver's side became in the front of the truck remains a mystery to me. While the drama lasted, onlookers came out on the streets and were shouting while we were helpless in the car waiting for the truck to crush us. I managed to turn my eyes at the back the first time, second time, thinking the truck would leave us then I would manipulate and get on the right track, but when I turned at the third time and the truck was still dragging us on the road, I surrendered my life to God and asked Him to do His will since all my skills had failed me. My friend Ukpe Bernard kept screaming; Hanhanhanhan, even as he kept asking; na so this man want take kill us? Na so this man want take kill us? Throughout the period the drama lasted I remain speechless and mute as I was waiting for God's verdict. But thank God for his mercies, there was no vehicle coming from the opposite direction throughout this period, and the truck finally flinged us to the other side of the road where my car hit a pickup van that was parked on the opposite side of the road and that was the end of the drama. When we came out of the car and driver too came out, he prostrated on the road, and was shivering and begging me to forgive him, that it was devil's work. Those who witnessed the drama were full of praises and amazed that we survived the accident. God alone deserves all the praises. While some trust in chariots, and some in horses, I will continue to trust in the name of the Lord my God. #InGodItrust. It has been reported that a woman was allegedly struck on her head with a machete by her husband who has vowed to kill her and has been abusing her for years. The husband was said to have been released on bail after his arrest some years ago. According to an online report, the woman wants justice but does not want to instigate the process. Below is what Women's liberation and empowerment advocate, Olu Bunmi shared on Facebook; This woman was allegedly struck on her head with a machete by her husband who has vowed to kill her and has been abusing her for years. He was released on bail. She wants justice but does not want to instigate the process. When the police took Dafe away in 2004, they asked if I wanted to prosecute. I said no. I cannot send my child's father to jail. I told them we Africans don't do that. So, they released him. But the British Government stopped leaving the decision of prosecution to the alleged victims of DV because of stupidity like mine. Now, the government decides whether to prosecute or not and has taken the decision away from the victims because a lot of DV victims eventually gets killed by their abusers! Look at this woman now. She does not want to instigate the procedure for prosecution. Why is the government leaving the decision to her? This is a crime, grevious bodily harm in my opinion and the decision should be the government's not her's. The man has been beating her for years and years. They are both grandparents now yet the abuse is on going. Sigh. When will our legislature pass a bill making the decision to prosecute the government's decision and not the alleged victim's? I have escalated this to my contact in Ogun State. Hopefully, they will prosecute and throw him in jail. A middle-aged man, who had been living on robbing people with motorcycle, aka okada, for 15 years has been arrested in Ogun State, South-west Nigeria. The suspect, Lateef Folami, had twice been convicted in Lagos for stealing and robbery. He was arrested last week after ambushing two men, from whom he snatched #500,000 at gun point. The victims had gone to a commercial bank in Agbara, Ogun State, to withdraw the money and ran into Lateef and his partner-in-crime, 20-year old Benjamin Oforitse. Ironically, while escaping with the money, they were chased and caught up with by an alleged gang of more devilish robbers, who made away with both the money and the short gun in their possession. All the suspects, numbering five, are currently been interrogated at the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The other three suspects arrested in connection with the money and gun were Yusuf Owoyele, 34, Tunde Owoyele, 23 and Itunu Abisoye, 22 Lateef had worked with several robbery gangs, most of whom have been killed. It was from the last gang he worked with that he inherited the locally made short gun he used for his operations. In his confession to men of the FSARS, he said: "I have been in this business for 15 years, and have been convicted twice. The first jail term was six years while the second was two years. "Seven years ago, I was in Badagry when I sighted some goats straying in a burial ground near Badagry Police Station. I had to scale the fence, ran after the goats and succeeded in catching three. I tied the three down and, not satisfied, thought of getting more. That was how I was arrested, charged to court and sentenced to six months imprisonment. "The second time, I carried two people on Okada from Alaba to Bariga. Somewhere around Charlie Boy, my passengers attempted snatching a bag, unknown to us that there were security men around, they shot at us. Eventually, they arrested Wale and I, while the third person escaped. We were taken to Pedro Police Station, from where were charged to court and sentenced to two years each in Ikoyi Prison", Lateef said. On how he came about the gun, Lateef said, "Myself and two other members of my gang went out on operation and had an open confrontation with another gang, which resulted in a gun battle. One of us was killed while I escaped with the other member. One day, the fellow with whom I escaped came and handed the gun to me, saying he was traveling and would not be around for a very long time. "I collected it, wrapped it with a polythene bag and hid it in a plantain Plantation. On May 2, 2018, I picked up the gun and went to Agbara with Benjamin, where we laid ambush for our victims. We saw them coming out of the bank, and sighting the polythene bag one of them held, I knew it contained a large sum of money. "I was riding the Okada while Benjamin held the snatched money and the gun. I went toward Idonyin/Edu, near Agbara, unknown to us that information had been passed to people in a village, who swooped on us. I managed to escape into the bush. But Benjamin was not as lucky as I was. He was arrested. It was the following day that they combed the bush and arrested me" Lateef revealed. Following the last month's bloody clash between the Eiye and Aiye confraternities in Ogun state, resulting in the killing of a police inspector, aftermath of which was the arrest and arraignment of 34 suspects, there was a renewed clash of superiority, during which the two feuding groups lost one member each. Victims of the latest onslaughts were one Wasiu and Aja. According to Felix Mordi, Wasiu, a member of Eiye Confraternity, was allegedly killed at Station Road on Wednesday, May 8, 2018 while Aja, an Aye member was killed two days after (Friday) by members of the opposition, Eiye. Worried by the development, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, was said to have directed special units of the command, comprising operatives of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and Anti Cultist/Kidnapping section to move in and bring the hoodlums to justice. According to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, "In compliance with the CP's directive, the Officer-in-charge of FSARS DSP Uba Adams swung into action, and embarked on technical intelligence-based investigation. Their efforts paid off when the hideout of the hoodlums was discovered. They stormed the place and got eight of them arrested with various types of dangerous arms and ammunition". Oyeyemi gave the names of the suspects as Muyiwa Talabi, 31, Tunde Adeyemi, 35, Afolabi Ismail, 34, Niyi Adeshina, 21, Segun Saka, 38, Korede Pariosho, Dayo Johnson and Micheal Oluwasegun. Investigation revealed that Muyiwa Talabi and Niyi Adeshina were the assailants of Wednesday's victim, Wasiu, even as Niyi later confessed to have targeted the victim in retaliation for the killing of his brother, Tosin , in 2017. Niyi and Muyiwa were identified as strong members of Aye group, and took orders from one Arasi, their supposed leader, now at large. The PPRO said, in a press release made available to Crimepuzzle, that the Friday's victim, Aja, another strong member of Aiye, "was traced to his house by members of the rival group (Eiye) and hacked to death, just before the arrival of police operatives, who had intended to arrest him". The police image maker further hinted that two Pump Action guns, four locally made double barrel pistols, eleven live cartridges and assorted charms were recovered from the suspects, adding that CP Iliyasu had given a matching order to all the special units involved in the operation to go all out and smoke out all fleeing members of the confraternities, including their sponsors, irrespective of their social status. It would be recalled that the 34 suspects earlier arrested were arraigned before Magistrate E. O. Idowu of Court 2, Ijebu-Igbo on Wednesday, April 18, on a ten-count charge bothering on felony to wit murder, obstructing policemen while on duty, disturbing the peace of the public, conspiracy, membership of unlawful society, among others. The court did not take their pleas, but ordered that they be remanded in prison and adjourned the matter to June 6, 2018. Today, the prayers of a popular snail seller, Iya Dare Onigbin at Owena, Igbaraoke in Ifedore local government area, Ondo State - was answered after meeting one of her customers who is now a governor.. When early today it was drizzling in parts of Igbaraoke, little did Mrs Funmilayo Osunla , know that the rain was a positive omen at meeting one of her long time customers who is now the governor in Ondo State. According to reports, the snail seller had thought any effort put into retaining Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, as customer might not materialise for obvious reasons. Though the embrace was deeply warm, hugely intense and ecstatic for her; the empowerment and blessing that followed was nonetheless transforming! It was indeed, one of those days that would for a long time, remain unforgettable in both the family and business lives of Madam Osunla as the patronage would help boost her snail business beyond her wildest dreams.
