The Jigawa state annual fishing festival was conducted today at Kalgwai village in Auyo local government area. According to reports, 48.1kg fish was caught in this year's festival.

The Jigawa state government awarded a new motorcycle and cash of one hundred thousand naira to one Saleh Dan Gaduwa who performed better (came first) at the festival.

The fishing festival attracted thousand of peoples from different parts of Jigawa state and Nigeria

Cultural events such as fishing, sink, swimming, Ropes-pulling among others were the things performed at the event.

The Bayelsa State Police Command, has intensified its operations on hideouts of armed robbers and suspected cultists in the state. The clampdown on cultists and armed robbers led to the arrest of one Henry Samuel 'm' a notorious drug baron and leader of an armed robbery gang.

On 23 April, 2018 at about 0400 hours, following interrogation and confession of an armed robbery suspect, operatives of Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS),Yenagoa, stormed the residence of one Henry Samuel 'm' 33 years, a kingpin of a notorious armed robbery gang, at Ovom, Yenagoa.

Upon thorough search of his house, the operatives recovered the following items; one Browning Pistol, breech number PK401158 with three rounds of live ammunition, one locally made revolver pistol with four rounds of live ammunition, one locally made single barrel pistol, with four live AAA cartridges, one Toshiba laptop, two infinix phones, one Techno phone, four daggers, one basin full of bags of weed suspected to be Indian hemp.

Efforts have been intensified to arrest other gang members, conclude investigation and charge them to court.

Reports filtering in from Borno state have it that two suicide bombers (Male and female) of approximate age 13 to 14 years invaded a mosque around Bama Dina area of Shehuri /Mairi/ Hausari ward of Bama town at about 5:15am this morning and detonated IEDs when people are in the middle of prayers.

So many causalities were recorded as the victims were evacuated to military hospital for further treatments..

Bama Local Government is the most affected by the destruction of insurgency and has up to 120,000 IDPs, the highest in the state.

Blessed with five beautiful kids, Mr. Edet Eneh, a Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Uyo, Akwa Iom state has taken to social media to celebrate his wife for not paying attention to his previous condition and getting married to him against all odds even as a secondary school dropout.

Exactly 12 years ago, against all unimaginable odds, As an undergraduate Medical Student, She agreed to March to the Altar with me to say 'I DO. ' She did not say 'I DO' to PROPERTY. Living in a rented one room sharing latrine toilet with over ten other co-tenants want an appealing abode for a lady. She did not say 'I DO' to FASHION. I had no good clothes then saved some worn out clothes including the cut and joined Suit that was 'wearing' me on the wedding day.

I actually got that suit from my neighbor tailor on the very wedding day. Things were that bad... Very difficult. She didn't say ' I DO' to Academic Qualifications. I was a secondary school dropout struggling to enter the University. SHE SAID I DO TO PROPHECY.

This should show the president that Nigerian youths are creative. While Nigerians are still countering and criticizing the statement made by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday who accused youths of loving freebies above working hard, one 'lazy Nigerian youth'' has decided to turn the controversial statement into a profitable business by printing T-shirts and caps with the caption: “Lazy Nigerian youths”.

Other ''lazy Nigerian youths'' are now making their orders too to encourage one of them who is very ''lazy''.

President Buhari during a business conference in London, was quoted to have said that the youths “do nothing” and want everything for “free” in the oil-rich country.

“A lot of them (Nigerian youths) haven’t been to school and they are claiming, you know, that Nigeria has been an oil-producing country therefore they should sit and do nothing and get housing, health care, education, free,” Buhari allegedly said.

A lady was shell-shocked after Nigeria was used as an example on a cyber security seminar at a university in the United Kingdom. Uju Obi, a graduate of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, and a postgraduate student of Huddersfield university - took to social media to reveal her 'shock face' after the speaker at the conference used Nigeria as a bad example on cyber security.

The speaker reportedly used the infamous strategy used by Nigerian fraudsters who send emails to the their unsuspecting victims abroad asking them for huge sum of money [in this case, thousands of pounds].

The stunning lady also disclosed that the speaker later apologized for using Nigeria as a bad case study.

Sorrow has filled the home of Mrs. Rita Emesim, the Assistant Commissioner of Police(ACP) in charge of Administration in the Anambra command of the Nigeria Police Force as she lost her husband, CSP Oscar Emesim in a ghastly motor accident.

Recounting the story of her husband's demise, who was himself a police officer, amid tears; ACP Rita Emesim revealed that her husband was on the Enugu axis of the Awka-Enugu express way, when suddenly a herd of cattle walked into the expressway.

The late police officer's driver while trying to avoid the herd, rammed into a heavy duty truck, with the officer sustaining various degrees of injuries and died on the way to the hospital as a result of over bleeding.

Shortly after signing the condolence register, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Sir Norbert Obi, urged the widow to remain strong in this trying time as it was the will of God, pledging to stand by the family in this period.

He called on the various state governments and the federal government to be more decisive in checking the activities of these herdsmen, noting that CSP Oscar Emesim's death was avoidable.

He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

Is this the new way forward? This is the question being asked by Nigerian internet users following the recent clampdown by security operatives on some guys in Potiskum, Yobe state. According to trending report, a young man was arrested recently for keeping an Afro hair.

He was arrested and taken into custody by the task force set up for that purpose by the state government.

The arrested men are said to be made to barb the hair and also pay a fine of N600.

The Senate plenary was on Wednesday disrupted after suspected thugs invaded the chamber and made away with the mace.The incident happened few seconds after a suspended senator, Ovie Omo-Agege, entered the chamber. According to report, about 10 suspected thugs who came to the venue with the senator forced their entrance into the chamber.

Seconds later, the thugs ran out of the chamber with the mace causing pandemonium in the Senate.

They left the National Assembly with the maze in a black SUV.

The mace is the symbol of authority of the parliament.

One of the security personnel at the entrance of the National Assembly said the thugs told him and other officers they were with the senator.

“We tired to stop them but they told us they were with him (Omo-Agege),” he said.

The senators are yet to reconvene as at the time of filing this report.

A group of suspected cultists/criminals were nabbed yesterday while holding a meeting at their hideout in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state capital. The hoodlums were apprehended by the Special squad of the Bayelsa state Vigilante service as they were tied up before being bundled to the police station.

Consequent upon the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP D. P Yakadi,, on the operatives of the Command to redouble their efforts in crime fighting in the State, the operatives of Niger State Police Command on different operations carried out in Suleja, Mashegu, Madalla and Tafa arrested nineteen (19) suspects and recovered exhibits for offences ranging from Kidnapping, cattle rustling, armed robbery, impersonation and unlawful possession of firearms.

Among the arrested suspects is a 25-year-old man identified as Sanusi Aliyu from Kutiriko Fadikpe, Bosso LGA, who raped a 10-year-old Fatima Umar. The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

The Niger State Police Command will sustain the onslaught on criminals in the State and at the same time solicit for support of Nigerlites in giving useful and timely information to the Police and other security agencies.

Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is in high spirits at the moment after receiving the news of the arrival of his fifth grandson, Brandon Uzor Anwukah. The Imo governor danced and rejoiced after the picture of the new baby was sent to him by second son-in-law, Dr Tony Uzor Anwukah

The governor also had a good time with his two children as he interacted with them via video call.

The new baby, Brandon Anwukah is the fifth grandchild of the Imo State governor and the second child of the Anwukahs.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered a total of N216,402,565.05 (Two Hundred and Sixteen Million, Four Hundred and Two Thousand, Five Hundred Sixty Naira, Five Kobo) only from Swiss Golden Investment, an online investment that purportedly deals in buying and selling of Gold Bars.

The recovery was sequel to a petition the Commission received from thousands of complainants who alleged that they invested in Swiss Golden Investment which was advertised as an online investment that deals with buying and selling of Gold Bars.

The petitioner further alleged that after investing over a billion naira into the business, the company refused to pay them any dividend or pay them back their capital. Upon receipt of the petition, the Commission invited the petitioners and they volunteered statements.

Through intelligence, the Commission picked up one Maxim Lobaty, a Russian and two Nigerians: Austin Emenike and Dickson Nonso Onuchukwu in Lagos.

The trio were subsequently conveyed to the Kano operational zone of the EFCC for further investigation. Swiss Golden which is headquartered in Hong Kong was discovered through investigation to be a Ponzi scheme that was designed to defraud innocent victims of their hard earned money.

After being drilled at the Commission's Kano Zonal Office, Maxim and his co-suspects consented to the refund of the investment. Subsequently, a total sum of N216, 402,565.05 (Two Hundred and Sixteen Million, Four Hundred and Two Thousand, Five Hundred Sixty Five Naira) only have now been recovered.

However, while the investigation was on going, it was discovered that, Swiss Golden Company Limited has defrauded over seven thousand Nigerians to the tune of over N3,000,000,000 (Three Billion Naira) only.

Investigation into the alleged fraud is still ongoing and all efforts are being made to recover the money involved and the alleged suspects be brought to justice.
