The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Lagos Zonal office, on Thursday, May 10, 2018, arraigned one Chinonso Samuel Ofoegbu before Justice Babs Kuewumi sitting at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos on a one-count charge bordering on failure to declare the sums of $52,201,000(Fifty-two Thousand US Dollars) and £320(Three Hundred and Twenty Pounds) found on him by officers of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

The suspect, who was apprehended at the Seme Border in the Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State, was subsequently handed over to the EFCC for further investigation and prosecution. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him. In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, M.S. Usman, asked for a trial date and prayed that the defendant be remanded in prison custody.

However, counsel to the defendant, G.U.Okon, prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in “the most liberal terms.” Consequently, Justice Kuewumi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N5m (Five Million Naira) with one surety in like sum.

The surety must own a property within the jurisdiction of the court and must have evident of tax payment for three years. The defendant was also ordered to submit his international passport to the court registrar. Justice Kuewumi ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison custody pending the perfection of his bail conditions.

The case was adjourned to September 24, 2018 for commencement of trial.

A tricyclist popularity known as Keke Napep driver was beaten black and blue after he was allegedly caught while trying to have anal knowledge of a young girl. According to reports, the Keke driver was nabbed while trying to defile the young schoolgirl in his tricycle before she raised an alarm.

In a viral video posted online, the driver who was tied up - was continuously beaten and was left bloodied before he was handed over to the police.

According to mulitple reports trending online, confusion gripped residents of Nnewi in Anambra state following an unusual event which happened recently. It was reported that a businessman bought a plot of land opposite St. Thomas Church in Otolo area of Nnewi with the purpose of building a petrol filling station there.

The pastor identified as Ven Egwuenu reportedly objected and the businessman went to Court after protracted court case the business man won the Church.

It was claimed that thunder struck the same day which work started on the land and ''uprooted'' the four storage tanks from the ground without destroying any other thing.

The incidence caused a scene in the area as residents gathered to see what had happened.

A politician and woman rights activist has taken to Facebook to share his story how he was purportedly kicked out of the church because he had sex with his then girlfriend (who is now his wife) and got her pregnant in the process. According to the Kenyan writer, Boniface Mwangi, his church members also refused to attend his wedding .

I had sex once, and was kicked out of church!

I just finished photographing and interviewing 70 people between the ages of 18-70 from across Kenya. I posed two questions to them: how did you learn about sex, and what's your family planning method?

Growing up, sex was a taboo subject and it was amazing to learn that people born 70 years ago had the same experience. When I turned 14, I got circumcised. Culturally, I was now a man. I assume my mother told my elder brother to talk to me about sex, but all he mumbled was that women are dangerous, and that was the end of my sex education!

When I was serving in the church ministry, we were taught about abstinence and that it was a cool thing to be a virgin. The church told us sex was a beautiful cake, but if you eat it at the wrong time, it has a rotten rat inside. What a metaphor. I remember listening to a pastor who taught us how to pray "dangerous prayers". The prayers went like this: Lord, if l look at a woman and desire her, strike me with blindness and if I sleep with her, infect me with HIV/Aids. Those "dangerous prayers" were to discourage us from engaging in premarital sex.

But you see, my parent (I was brought up by a single mum) and my eldest brother didn't bother telling me what sex was and its context. The church told me you will discover what it is when it happens. Unfortunately, the church didn't see it fit to tell us that in case you found yourself tempted, you could use a condom. My girlfriend at the time, who is now my wife, also grew up in church. She sang in the choir and wore a chastity ring until the day two young Christians, burning with passion, had sex without understanding its consequences.

Njeri got pregnant and was subsequently fired from the Christian organisation she had been working for, while I got kicked out from serving as a youth deacon. My church pastors didn't even attend my wedding and my wife's church presided over the service. Yet if we had received better sex education, we might have had sex with a condom.

Sadly, we aren't talking about it. Scheaffer Okore tells me she was taught that sex was for wayward people. It was a dirty word, for sinners and prostitutes. If you talked about sex, or engaged in it, you would contract HIV and die. What I find stupid about this approach is that sex education isn't about children having sex. It is about understanding sex because left in the dark, it is curiosity that ends up killing the young cats.

Personally, It I don't think anyone should have sex in their teenage years. It doesn't add value to their lives and in any case they lack the emotional and monetary ability to deal with its consequences. But we are not helping kids by pretending that sex does not exist.

In 1962, Kenya had 8 million people and we are at 50 million people today. We have been having sex, lots of sex and it shows because our population has exploded. We need to talk about family planning. Men in particular must be more responsible. We cannot continue leaving family planning to women. I am part of this campaign, #FormNiGani which is getting young adults to talk about sex and family planning freely.

As writer Kingwa Kamenchu once told me, family planning is about pleasure, and if you have too many kids it will affect your pleasure calendar. Let us all take charge of our sex lives because those three seconds of passion can alter our lives for better, or for us. And let's bring children on board. If our kids can watch politicians behaving badly on national television, then they are old enough to learn about sex

After surviving a fatal accident which killed seven passengers, an engineer has taken to social media to thank God for pulling through. Faith Esu revealed how he was pulled alive from the damaged bus after the crash which also killed the driver instantly. The young man who is recuperating from injuries sustained from the accident in Calabar, Cross River state - shared his story online.

I was pulled outa this bus while it was pressed on my head, it was just I and the driver, he lost his life at instant, the other bus recorded 7 dead including the driver who also died at instant, the remaining of us alive was rushed to hospital and as usual they were on strike, Navy Hospital rejected us, but God still wanted me alive...

I was admitted and administered at the police hospital calabar without delay. That was how I survived.

On 5th May... I cheated Death. God saved me. I don't know how to thank this God. But all I have to say is Thank you Father....

There was pandemonium earlier today violent at Anyigba in Dekina Local Government in Kogi state as supporters of Mr. Kabiru Idris and Mr. Ishaq Shaibu clashed over revenue collection. According to reports, many residents were injured in the clash.

It was reported that Kabiru was asked to resign while Shaibu was appointed to replace him, since then the community thugs have been on each other neck.

The crisis is about who has the legitimate right to collect revenue from the village market. Both groups are laying claim to having the revenue collection right, a situation that has led to violent.

According to reports from a reliable source, the autopsy that was carried out on Prince Kelechi Ineke, the son of Abaomege king who died in a tragic manner while in police custody in Abaomege, Onicha L.G.A of Ebonyi state - shows that he was allegedly killed inside police cell following a problem with D.P.O's son.

Prince Ineke, was reportedly arrested for fighting with Ufem Umet Ekwe, son of inspector Umet Ekwe serving in the community.

It was also reported that Kelechi was arrested, detained, tortured, denied bail and starved to death by the police. The mystery surrounding his death is yet to be unraveled as a rope was found round his neck like someone who committed suicide in the police cell...

According to reports, the police DCO, Eze Brendan Ikechukwu from Nsukka area of Enugu state is said to have been in contest with the late Kelechi over a girl (name withheld) from Abaomege. So when the prince was arrested, he reportedly took advantage of that to deal with his rival, the late Kelechi, according to the deceased's friend.

Meanwhile, all the police officers involved including the inspector's son have been arrested and taken to Abakaliki, the state capital by the commissioner of police.

More details of how a young man was killed in cold blood in Lagos - have emerged. According to reports, the deceased identified as Musty Sokoto was killed at a birthday party held in the Agege area of Lagos State after gunmen stormed the party and shot him dead.

Sources said Musty was a popular youth among the members of Hausa community in Agege, especially for his philanthropy.

It was learnt that the guests scampered to safety when some stern-looking gunmen suddenly invaded the party and opened fire on Musty at close range.

His killers were said to have fled immediately Musty fell down in a pool of his own blood.

“ It was like a scene from the movies when the fierce-looking men stormed the party and shot the celebrator dead. The young man was dancing with friends on the occasion when he was shot dead and his killers escaped from the scene as guests scampered into safety in nearby buildings.

“Although, the reason for his gruesome killing is unknown, but the late Musty was such an unassuming boy and did not keep bad company. Even the party he organised to mark his birthday was a small bash attended by his friends and associates.”

A community leader, Alhaji Tanko Abideen urged the police to unravel the mystery behind Musty’s killing and stepped up surveillance activities around Agege and environ.

He said: ” I am urging the police to fish out Musty’s killers and unravel the mystery behind his gruesome death. The police should also put in place a proactive surveillance of Agege community and fish out criminal gangs who might be killing innocent residents in the neighbourhood.”

The secretary of the All Progressives Congress APC in Rivers state, Chief Emeka Beke is lucky to be alive after escaping death in a tragic incident this morning. Report has it that the APC chieftain was heading to the party secretariat just by Port-Harcourt club before a tree fell on his car after heavy rainfall.

The APC secretary escaped the tragedy by whiskers but one of his aides who was in the car with him was affected.

He is currently receiving treatment at the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital in Port-Harcourt.

Tragedy struck in Zing local government area of Taraba state following an explosion from two fuel tankers on Wednesday evening. At least eight people were reported to have been killed in the horrifying inferno..

According to reports, a tanker driver, who was reportedly running from soldiers chasing him, lost control of the wheel and in a bid to regain balance, tumbled on another moving tanker.

It was gathered from an eyewitness, the impact of the fall on the tarred road led to a huge explosion, sending balls of fire and plumes of dark smokes into the sky.

The fire soon spread and caught vehicles parked by the roadside, triggering a stampede and commotion as many scurried to flee the raging fire...
