Some years ago, there was a memorandum of understanding that was signed at the United Nation that by 2015, they would have met the millennium goals. And Education was a primary issue. That is to say that eradicating poverty was part and parcel of that goal. What is actually the issue wrong with the Nigerian Education system. According to the recent survey carried out by UNESCO has revealed that millions of Nigerians still lack formal education because of the lack and non availability of educational institution and facilities across the federation.

This is the shocking news. The result of the survey on illiteracy has revealed that about 65 million Nigerians are still illiterate, The National Programme Advisor on Education, UNESCO Regional Office in Abuja, Dr. Mohammed Alkali, revealed.

This was made known by Dr. Alkali, during an advocacy visit to Governor Aminu Bello Masari former speaker of the Nigerian House of Representative. According to Dr Alkali, " said people can be lifted out of poverty if they are empowered with basic reading skills".

According to him, “just nine months of literacy increases a person’s earning by up to 10 per cent.”

Dr. Mohammed Alkali also made it to known to the Governor that UNESCO in conjunction with National Mass Education Commission (NMEC) embarking on a project to revitalize adult and youth literacy in Nigeria with the target of increasing the Nigerian literacy rate and reducing the illiteracy ratio between five to six million youths and adults.

Assemblies Og God Churches Shut Down By Governor Mallam El Rufai

Well for those who do not know exactly who Governor Mallam El Rufai is, He is the same minister for the FCT during th regime of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. During his time as the FCT Minister, he did just more than shutting down churches and their various institutions. Of recent, my team gathered that he has shut down the operations of the Assemblies of God church in His state and also their various institutions respectively. Some of these institutions allegedly shut down includes Hospitals, Schools etc.
With this kind of gesture he has seen himself into, he has been tagged a controversial leader by the people from the Kaduna State. Many as it was in the FCT Era, do not and are not please with his reforms and pattern of development.
