Consider using 9"

That will amount that your column are at least 9" columns (which is the minimum column section)

2) with the method of constructing residential buildings in Nigeria (unframed structure) block walls eventually becomes load bearing. As such you are better off using 9" especially at the ground floor Area.

If you are on budget, talk to your engineer to see which walls (usually partitions upstairs) are not load bearing and substitute with 6"

To add context, let me share an experience

We were doing a remedial work on one estate, the external door is so weighty and heavy and has a dimension of about 1.8m width by 3m height

The door became non functional as members of family, especially children could not use it often, they have to pass through the kitchen exit door to access the building each time.

The door is only opened once in a while when they have visitors.

In that case, critical considerations were not made.

The reason for my question is that, I see some houses with big entrance doors? Is that the new design? What's the size of this door? Also, is it the same for bedroom or those ones have their own sizes.

I would like to know the height and length of these doors for reference purposes.

Two things that influences door dimensions are
1)Building code standard
2) Aesthetics

The standard dimension for doorway for residencial building is
Entrance/exterior = 1.2m x 2.1m
Interior = 0.9m x 2.1m

Anything more is for aesthetics purposes, and yes doors with wider width and height are more aesthetically pleasing than the standard dimension.

You can decide to do a 1.2m x 2.4m or 1.5 x 2.7m. Primarily, the width should not be less than 1.2m because of moving in and out of home furnitures and other appliances.

Pics 1 is a design we did with standard door size 1.2m x 2.1m
Pics 2 is has a dimension of 1.5m x 3m.

My wife prefers tiles but I believe SPC flooring is more luxurious and more beautiful.

You can use spc flooring for selected spaces such as kitchen, bedrooms

Then tiles in the Livingroom area.

Both designs are really cool
Pretty much the zoning of the design are same.

However I will choose B

1) It has the propensity to throw in more light to the lobby. (if the marked wall can be brought down), another advantage to bring the wall down is that it makes the dinning space looks and feels bigger.

2) the lobby at 1500mm offers a bigger space than in A, hence two people can pass easily

3)interior wise, furniture placement for B ante room will be more functional than A

4)The wardrobe placement for B are intentional for all the spaces, unlike A where any available space is assigned wardrobe space.

5) Exterior wise, B will be more visually and aesthetically pleasing than A, because of the interesting roof design it will produce (which is a function of all those, recess and wall shot outs).

Disadvantage
B will be more expensive to construct than A.

Kudos to your architect he did a good job.

Why Bungalows?

Cost-effective: Lower construction costs compared to duplexes.

Efficient Design: Maximizes space and minimizes construction time.

Don't let budget constraints limit your dream house.

Making some renovations, changed the old windows to aluminum, and tried to protect the rooms from rain getting in during heavy downpours by installing these green roofs but it makes the whole place look odd and old school.

I think I might remove it and find a more modern way to stop rain from entering the rooms without the windows closed.

Please any suggestions are welcomed.

What I intends to build is 3 bedroom duplex and 4 units of mini flats and hopefully there's still be enough spaces around. It is a flat land of 30 x 100. If I can get a nice design that is affordable I'll appreciate. Then start up the foundation base on the design then proceed at my own pace depending on the way I take de see money

In your own case

A layout is a plan, graphically showing the features in the estate and their relationships, such as buildings, green area, drainage, road networks, estate facility building location etc

Attached is a typical layout.
Each colour represent an element.
For the attach image, the white color shows the road network, green represents green area,and the other prevalent colors represent the buildings.

Concerning cost, there are so many factors that influences cost in construction, location, terrain (sloppy or flat), soil conditions etc

With ample car parking space.
