I don't know which state you are in currently, I only know ones I can vouch for in my state. However, whenever I need foreign currency, I have this hausa currency-exchange merchant whom I call to my house and we do the transaction, I don't visit the Bureau De Change, and bank is out of it cos they make everything so stressful.

Most banks would keep telling you they don't have as they prefer selling to black market and making more profit. Go buy from a Bureau De Change.

I did mine before I travelled - does your brothers school have online registration?

The only registration he has done is registering with IT Services and being granted access to the School's portal + registering his cutomized email @universityname.ac.uk


The above are the only registrations available online but I doubt if the above is what you are referring to.

***Please those already in the UK, which banks are fastest in opening a student bank account without requesting for official certificate of registration from the University which of which takes at least 2 weeks to get from the day that you officially register at the University. As in, which bank can open an account on sighting a CAS letter and an International Passport + lots of physical £££££ of course.

Atlantis85: *sigh* 12 days more and I've been mentally going over what I submitted to be sure I did all I was supposed to do. Here's all I submitted:

1. Print-out of mail showing CAS number/unconditionl offer letter
2. Documents stated in CAS: Degree cert and ielts trf
3. 7200 in personal bank statement: had lil less than 7200 before 1st august but got total 7200 on 1st and I printed out on 3rd( stamp date was 3rd sept), tho last transaction registered 29th august. Main depositors were my mum and dad but my aunt (diff surname) paid in 400k (after I alrdy had my balance)
4. Mail correspondence between me and the school asking for extension.
5. Oanda conversion print-out for 3rd sept
6. I had paid full school fees and it was stated in cas.

Did I miss anything out pls?

Charlesbro: You are expected to have the required amount in your account for 28days...so i think before today you have had that said amount deposited in your account from day 1...what is the need of paying in any amount now? If you already have the said amount in your account , what you need to do is wait for the 28days completion and print out the next day and summit your application thesame day too... Don't worry, you will be fine...what VFS want is your 40 points.

His intention to pay in some money before printing is to enable him have a closing balance as most bank's statements require such for a closing balance to be reflected.

dt I don't need one , that the ukba knows that the latest arrival date is 22nd Oct

If you submit tomorrow, your visa should be out latest 3rd October, which therefore means you have no issues. Youd be set to leave before the 8th date written on the CAS, moreso the 22nd date.

ifeness: OK MR intelligent. What do you know those people collecting student visas are coming to do in uk? They only got 10hrs to work for a week ,what is the point coming down to suffer anyway? At the end of the day,most of them turn illegal which makes no sense.

I appreciate your advice, please something else just came up. I later discovered that the expiration date of my visa was wrong. Instead of 27/01/14, they wrote 27/01/2013. I have already reported this to BHC and I was told to take my passport to vfs and drop it in the drop off box that they will receive from vfs and look into it. I did that earlier today. But my worry is that I don't know whether the correction is going to take long. My school starts in september 13, 2013. I am just praying for every thing to be sorted out before Friday this week.

Please let me know how the outcome will be if you have an idea of this kind of case.

I have had a friend who had issues with his visa based from a fault from BHC do not same case as yours and it was corrected the next day. Don't worry, as Penfold said, it would be rectified asap, u might even get it before or on Friday.

I can't travel with all that money. What if I withdraw like £1000 equivalent to travel with and then print out my bank statement Of the balance so that I can tender it at the airport as a prove of my fund. Would that be ok?

I think with £1000 in cash and the remaining cash in the bank (preferably an account in your name), you can go ahead and hold your bank statement as evidence and you would have no issues.

Though if you have not yet paid for accommodation, you might need to hold some extra cash than that £1000, not because you would spend as much immediately but at least so you can settle logistics and have something left to open a bank account in the UK. And for the remaining funds in your account in Nigeria, I hope you don't intend accessing it often from the ATM machine in the UK as you would be charged as much as £6 per transaction. Preferably, after opening your UK bank account, you can ask your local bank in Nigeria to wire your funds to you and you'd pay just a one-off transfer charge.

Just to let you know that I got my visa finally. I applied alongside my spouse for tier 4 and dependant visa on August 17 2012, and we both were granted. We were alerted for the collection today 10th.

Please, I need to know what documents to have with me when travelling to London to avoid problems at the airport. If I print another bank statement, should I withdraw the money afterwards before travelling? Do I need to have all the maintenance fund with me?

As regards required docs, just carry your school docs. And with regards cash, if you are going to withdraw it and travel with it, then no need for a bank statement.

Since the required funds are in your debit card, simply do not show them your credit card since its in debt. Therefore, if at the airport, they ask you if you have enough funds with you, tell them Yes that it is in your debit card. And if they want to have prove, they'd take you to a machine and you'd insert your card and reflect your balance. Avoid showing your credit card. Well, id say lets hope that the ECO doesn't take that too seriously to even go into verifying the information you stated in that section.

Someone on this thread, withdrew his maintenance funds from his account after applying for Visa and he still got his Visa, which means the ECO didn't go verifying his bank statement. Lets hope you come across same luck.

Again, can someone tell me if the processing time for tier 4 and dependant visa is more than just a tier 4 application?

Lastly is it normal for one not to have gotten any response from vfs till now having made a tier 4 application since 17th August 2012?

I should pay my for my accommodation after tomorrow, but the University would get it by earliest 17th, which is my flight date. So I wouldn't have a receipt of my payment or anything.

Your bank statement or mini-statement from your credit or debit card would reflect this transaction and can act as prove if it becomes necessary.

That asked about paying for NHS treatment in the UK. The reason I said yes is because I had been in the UK before on a psw dependant visa. While I was there, I usually consult my GP free of charge because I am a dependant of a UK ordinary resident. However, I always pay for My prescription at the pharmacy. I thought it was right for me to say that I pay for my treatment because I pay for my prescription even though I don,t pay anything to see my GP

But after submitting my application, I found out that NHS free treatment means consulting your GP without paying any charges and it is not clear if paying for prescription without paying for consulting your GP is also considered as paying for your treatment.

Please, is this going to affect my application based on general ground for refusal? I need your advice please.

For Tier 4 Visa...its really the 40 points that matters. Therefore, you would not be penalized for that except and only in cases of clear intention to deceive.
