t.hally:Nothing to worry about as regards point of entry. And why dont you want to stay in School? |
Jonathan’s aide turns preacher on Facebook The Special Assistant to President Good Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri, may have landed a new job – or warming up for one – on popular social media, Facebook. The Abuja-based lawyer now appears to be spending most of his time preaching on Facebook. In recent times, he seems to have taken to the ‘pulpit’, talking about the importance of prayer and perseverance on his timeline. On Wednesday afternoon, Omokri wrote on his Facebook timeline, “Jesus said in Matthew 6:31-32, “Don’t worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear? For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.” James said in James 2:15-17 “Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, ‘Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” “Here, Jesus is telling us that God wants to meet our most elementary needs, and James is telling us that it is through you and I that God will meet the needs of those less fortunate than us. I tell you this, if you will have the faith to meet the needs of those less fortunate than you, God will cause those more fortunate than you to meet your own needs for as Jesus said “Give, and it will be given to you” Luke 6:38.” Not done with his preaching or perhaps, spurred by the responses he got, such as one by David Ibitoye who wrote, “I am blessed, sir”, he went further on Thursday afternoon. This time he ‘taught’ his friends the importance of consultation. He wrote, “If you believe that Jesus the Son of God was a perfect man during His time on earth, then consider what He did before He chose His associates. In Luke 6:12-13 the Bible records that “it came to pass in those days, that He went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, He called unto him His disciples, and of them He chose 12, whom also He named apostles.” While it will be interesting to continue to watch the ‘lips’ of the presidential aide online, his friends have continued to spiritually reason with him. ibudes: Do I start counting the 15 working days from the day I submitted myThats exactly how its counted. |
Please can a 3rd party collect the finished visa on one's behalf? |
dappy daniel: hello good people, can i roam my ETISALAT line in the uk??Yes. And to avoid high charges, just use it to receive text messages. Dont pick calls on it except you want to be charged. If its someone you want to talk to, you can always call back with with cheaper options by using your UK line, call card or skype. |
shemy: Can a relative collect visa on one's behalf?Good question. Anyone in the house with an idea? |
FutureDon: @Step7, are you still booking Qatar? Justwise, Charles E and others with info on Qatar airways. Can you please comment on the 'compulsory booking of return ticket'Normally, as a non-UAE resident, you cant fly into the UAE without having a return ticket. But in your case, you are only transiting through the UAE and you have a valid visa to your final destination (UK). You should have no issues. If you are using an agent, feel free to show your agent your visa if he-she demands. |
steph7: I'm going to heathrow, but instead of the 2 hour layover, I'll end up waiting for 6 hrs, I may use the onyx lounge, I hate hate stress!plus do we have to pay in pounds?I paid from my dollar visa card. If you hold dollars or pounds in cash, youd still be fine. |
steph7: I haven't yet gotten it, but I booked it for 88kExcept you are going to Heathrow, otherwise if you are flying with Qatar Airways from Lagos to Manchester Airport, be ready to spend 7 freezing hours in Transit at Qatar's Doha Airport. *Free Wifi upstairs anyway. If you have extra 30 pounds, you can pay and have access to chill in the Premium Business Class Lounge; that's for those who flew Economy but wana lounge in style. |
steph7: Pls can any1 here confirm if the 2nd muslim public holiday was counted as a working day, I remember dolz saying something like that,I applied on the 14th at ikeja, I'm really anxiousYou have answered it yourself. A muslim holiday is always honored across the nation as a holiday. Never been counted as a working day and never would be for as long as we have muslims in Nigeria. |
kdavis: Thanks, but I dnt think I can wait 8hours in quatar or dubai. Went to d airpot yesterday, its like d whole lagos ws there! LUCKILY I was able to get a ticket on Iberia wit stop over n mardrid (5hours),no quarms sha.Why ya'll making ticket a big deal. From LOS to LHR (Heathrow); you have BA, Virgin, Qatar, Arik, KLM etc. LOS to MAN (Manchester); you have Air France (one-hour transit in Paris, no transit visa needed), KLM, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, etc. Return ticket via any of these airlines to any of these routes are below N200k. Book your return for August, 2013. If you need to visit Nigeria before then, you can call the airline and shift it to any earlier date. |
Dharkchild: Me I used her maiden name and her fathers surname while my bro used her name after marriage (thats our surname) and we both got our visasThanks. I think whats more important for the ECO is the 40 points, so they easily overlook the other slight mistakes. |
Also in Part 5B of the Personal Details form where they asked for Mother's Name and Mother's Family name. Those who have gotten their visas, did you put her Maiden name and her Father's name as surname? or you put her name after marriage and your father's surname which she now bears. |
Hello house, in Abuja, is the Student Visa Application submitted UK Border Agency British High Commission Dangote House Aguyi Ironsi Street Maitama District Abuja OR VF Global Services Nigeria Ltd. No 38, Lobito Crescent, Wuse II Abuja - Nigeria |
Donxavier: Yes. Before you enter the VFS at the gate you see a lot of places to that. It's better that way, they know the specifications. Thanks |
Donxavier: Take it there.I get you. But just not to assume, I guess you mean, it is advisable to snap it at the submission centre? |
Please those who submitted their Application in Abuja, did you go with your passport photograph or is there a place there to take it? |
Cavenchy: There isn't a particular format, His dad should know what to write, just address the letter to The British High Commission stating the acknowledgement of His Decision to finance his son's living cost and any fees left to be paid. The son on his own part should also include the birth certificate showing the relationship between him and his father with the bank statement and oanda conversion rates. Thanks Cavenchy. |
Hello. Please a friend seeks a sample of consent letter to show that his dad is financing his living cost. Please does anyone have a sample that he or she used and worked? If yes so I can drop his email here for it to be forwarded. Also, what does one do with Section 6.4 of the Self Assesment form, for those who have already paid their course fees in full. Prompt answers would be highly appreciated. |
shemy: What is the maximum physical cash to travel with? Also, what is the best way to open an account in UK or have enough money in your local bank and gp with the ATM card? There is no limit to what you can travel with as long as its in your debit card. And as for opening account in the UK, if you travel-in during your school's orientation week, you'd be properly guided. |
Atlantis85: Hi everyone,Good question. The extra is synonymous with Naija |
holloziggi: Hey house ,on the visa form when dey asked when do u wish to travel, can I put 2days to my resumption date??Perfectly. Two days to resumption is even totally appropriate. |
justwise: Not this one, someone posted one with diagram here last month or so.That's the correct link. If you open and scroll down, you would see the interactive forms for VA9 and VA9App8. I downloaded same from there weeks ago. Cheers |
justwise: Anybody with a link to UEL interactive form? http://www.uel.ac.uk/international/advice/applications-outside-uk.htm |
Atlantis85: Proper one chance mehn! Lol! Its all done now. Gonna apply dis week. There's nothing wrong in making transaction just before printing out bank statement, is there? Not at all. As long as the transaction does not take your balance below the UKBA required balance. Depending on your bank, you would need to do a transaction so that a closing balance can reflect before you print. Feel free to do so. No harm in it at all. |
Atlantis85: Oh wow, he took a great gamble. I wanted to do that as well cos of the bank charges and commission involved in direct bank transfer. I didn't though cos I imagined the stress I'd go through if my money had somehow got lost somewhere in cyberspace as a result of gtb netwrk or just bad luck. Lol.LOL. Means we had same fears. My cousin wanted to put money into my Dorm account and pay using my VISA dollar debit card, I told him that even with Interswitch sey transaction dey hang for local payments, sey make him no come try am with a transaction of over £10,000 o |
Atlantis85: Oh yea true but if its an autonomous subsidiary, totally independent of the gtb here, then the transfer process may apply tho at a much faster rate. eezeebone: Good analysis, but recall that GTBank has a subsidiary in London.... so it is well placed to make certain of its promise.I actually asked cos Access Bank took three days for each transaction of my cousin to get credited in the school's bank in the UK. My friend who is going to Birmingham was charged astronomically for bank charges by Ecobank when he paid the first £6000 of his tuition, so out of anger, he paid the remaining £10,000 in one single transaction using his GTB Mastercard Naira Card via the school's portal (instant, no hidden fees, no extra charges) |
Just for posterity sake. Who in the house used Bank Transfer to pay their fees and had their payments credited in the UK same day. Please state bank you used. |
eezeebone: I believe (as Justwise pointed out), the discount was implicitly stated. The amount quoted as Tuition fees is £12397.Look above, I already pointed that out as well. |
eezeebone: @Atlantis I'd say print out the relevant part of the University document/website/whatever that says they will give you a 2% discount and explain this in the "notes" section.Am surprise your school didn't state the discount in the CAS. My cousin's school clearly stated the 500 pounds discount awarded him in the CAS. Anyway, its not needed as your CAS shows the value of tuition and the value you have paid and both tally which clearly means you owing nothing. |
eezeebone: @Atlantis I'd say print out the relevant part of the University document/website/whatever that says they will give you a 2% discount and explain this in the "notes" section.Eezeebone, Atlantis does not owe the school accommodation. Accommodation in school is not compulsory as students can choose to stay outside. |
Atlantis85: I just clocked something on my CAS. Actual school fees is 12650 with a 2% discount if full fees are paid before resumption. I paid (full discounted) fees of 12397 but here's what's written on my CAS regarding fees:Check the parts I have bolded above. They tally so you have no issues. Just state same in your form when you are asked your tuition fees just as seen in your CAS. |
